I know POP will never be the same, but comparing POP to what it used to be, it looks like a complete joke now.

Expensive skins, no events, no lore, no consistent updates, no themes, nothing. Only sandbox and a dream. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say POP:ONE needs life again. Bring back events, bring back themed updates, bring back an interesting story etc. Pre-season up to season 2 were some of the best times POP:ONE has had, and when I rewatch old videos and trailers, it makes me cry POP:ONE doesn't have anything we used to.

Something needs to be done, and I don't just mean slap a sandbox map into battle royale and call it a day. We need POP:ONE to return to its roots and remember what made POP:ONE so unique back in the day. Hell, we didn't even get holiday events. Give us a monthly and one feature from the last event and call it good.

Things need to change or I see POP:ONE becoming nothing but a sandbox ruled mess. Bring life back to POP:ONE.

I agree with everything said here and it’s so frustrating. I don’t have other games I want to play, my library is full of games that never came close to pop one. I just want the magic that was pop one to come back again. ☹️

Personally, I am loving pop1 at the moment, it was never going to be a one size fits all approach but definately adds variety, the playability factor is still there, that hasn’t changed! If your popone experience is governed by skins and rewards then that’s on you. (Personally Im about the gameplay and for the community). We need to embrace change and go with the flow. 😊

We have lots of new playstyles (war, legions ) about to start that new ftp players have never experienced (me included) now is definitely the time for OG players to step up and get hype for this game to encourage all these new players what a great community it is however you want to play it

I was speaking with one of the Devs once about how cool those Season Passes were. They said that it was pretty much an all hands on deck for any one of those events. If they were to keep that up there wouldn't be a Sandbox.

Sandbox has brought a lot of value to this game. It brought a lot of cool maps and made the games accessable to lots of new players.

Something had to be done. This is a great game with a lot to master. The skill gap is huge and OGs will destroy newbs. Now we have a place for a new player base to evolve from.

Sure, events would be cool, but you should learn to appreciative of what you have.

I miss the events a lot. Collecting something to get a red gun was the best. The season passes were awesome. I miss the double XP on Thursdays because everyone on my friends list was playing, I would have to scroll scroll. That meant there was hardly anytime in the lobby to talk. It was game after game. I miss the Rank event. Though it was tiresome but it was pure adrenaline and actually helped me with my gameplay. These month long events are quite boring to me. Like thanks for the skin but uhhh is that all? It would be nice to see some things planned with the season changing. It would be nice to see something featured on the billboards again. I don’t know what has changed but I hope we do get some portion of something back. I still love this game and will not stop playing but I do miss those old Pop One days.

I agree that we did have a golden era, I seriously think that it was new and the “novelty” has wore off. If we still had events, passes etc we’d of eventually been bored of them too. I dunno. I still play, I build, I’m happy. We live in an imperfect world.

Sandbox quality has improved a lot and the bad maps aren't lingering on the playlists anymore.

Problem is that the player base is spread too thin now. So much so that the core function of the game--battle royale squads--often doesn't have enough players for full lobbies anymore. Sandbox maps are still unstable, laggy, and often super boring (sorry!). Player built maps just can't compare with professionally developed and tested maps. I agree with OP that seasonal themes (e.g. snow!), squad podiums, events, season passes did much more to foster a gaming community. Feels like Sandbox is just cheap way to generate new content, and it sadly often lacks the quality and thoughtfulness of fully developed professional updates.

I don’t mind all the additions they did and the change of focus from being a BR game and a social experience first and foremost. What saddens me is that the game is so riddled with bugs and gameplay issues that are not going anywhere, just being added one on top of another.

We were all kids once (some of us a bit longer ago than others) but the kids will get older, it’s about increasing the player base, a game will never survive if it was limited to just us older farts, word of advice, if the squeakers give you headache, hit the mute button! Problem solved

I have a 9yo. Who loves pop1. It’s really good for the social aspect and it desensitises him to the reality that unfortunately, the world contains a percentage of cock wombles ! I would rather expose him to this and educate him, rather than hide it away from him and let him find out the hard way in later life.

I for one have played with more good underage squadmates than the 'squeaker' variety who just talk and whinge endlessly about everything. The community for random matches on the Q2 per game as a whole though is a heck of a lot less toxic than the experiences I've had with online PC gaming.

Whoever wants “hangout” TDM or build. Just create a different version of the game. What should have been done with sandbox to begin with. Completely different game which caters to different audience.

Whether I get on at early or late local hours it's mostly bot players now. Not quite as fun as playing with real thinking people.

I wouldn't say separate game but maybe two choices on first boot "Squads" and "Sandbox". This will default load into either Squads and all that comes with it or Sandbox and all that comes with that. You can go between but in buried menus.

If they split off into separate Sandbox mode they could spin it in whole other direction like some kind of VR GMod.

Maybe pop1 is just a lie, we were just playing for 2.5 years and were used for data mining to train some fancy AI models 😂

Been playing since the game came out and I like that sandbox is included with it. I like jumping back and forth between squads and sandbox depending on my mood. If I had to switch apps every time to do that, that would be annoying AF. Splitting it into another app would split the player base even more, and the there’s a section of the player base that likes sandbox and if it was a diff game it wouldn’t help fill the lobbies anyways. They’d be off in a separate game with less chance of them hopping back to squads. With that being said I’ve never had any trouble when I play finding full lobbies in any mode. I know that’s not the experience of everyone from what it sounds like but not sure what time you guys are playing.

I like to have option of both for sure - I think those saying it should be split into 2 games , be careful what you wish for as the sandbox building/tdm/hangouts could ultimately end up more popular to the masses and then if 2games which one do you think would stay and which one shelved due to player numbers , by keeping them together you have more chance of encouraging people into the original mode as they have the option to

I'm just kind of sad. I joined back in November/December being the last time I played because I had to RMA the right controller when it stopped working only to get it back months later because they lost my ticket. Came back and now I have the bad luck of always having mostly bot matches 😄

Onee match this morning we had a bot squadmate even. As soon as it 'died' it DC'd.

I think the more games you play and better you get you will get out of the bot matches. This is the matchmaking at work I believe.

I thought bots only for under a certain level and only on the classic map , but could be wrong - I’ve played plenty were not full lobbies or that they have done all duos never had a bot as a 3rd

Itend to be mostly quiet during a match unless something needs saying. Easier to hear incoming footsteps and glides that way.

All this empty lobby nonsense is just that nonsense. People are just trying to complain because they heard someone else say it months ago and haven’t formulated their own thought. This statement is true if you live in the US. If you’re outside the US there are def time periods when there are it as many online. I’m east coast so early morning I don’t see a ton of people on but people are playing might get a mix of full and half lobbies. But 10am-2am(next morning) EST lobbies are full. you might get a dead lobby every now and again but that’s always happened.

This might just be a "me" problem so i opened a ticket with BigBox, this is not the first time i had something like that and last time i had a similar ticket i got a reply that "my matchmaking was updated and i should be getting better lobbies now" (In terms of skill) now it seems while the level of players i see is high enough, i just dont see 99% of the playerbase.

as much as i enjoy playing comp level against the same people, when its all i play (for a good 3-4 weeks now) i just get bored at some point.
The time i play during the day makes no differences to the amount of people i see in lobbies.

Covid gave lots of people more time to play Pop1. As the world has moved past Covid they have less. I think this is more of the reality than the game has lost its appeal. Pop1 is a great game even with all its issues. The issues frustrate me but there is not another game out there to steal me away.

Yeah lot of times during 5 hours of legions I had to mut everyone not in my squad.

Not to say all of them are bad. Had some damned fine teammates who sounded like they were 9 but most of my matches devolve into some kid singing some random cereal jingle the whole match, Or talking endlessly about the purple gun they picked up 5 minutes ago.
