Despite being one of the biggest elemental resistance inhibitors, Rune Master lacks enough to make him stand out amongst other classes. Many other magical classes outdamage him and others also give better supports than he does. I am suggesting improvements to help with his skillset to increase his clearing range, skill damage, defense ignore, and to provide more support effects.

Skills:
Rune Field: Current buffs + Party has 80% damage reduction for 1s upon casting, then switches to 20% damage reduction for the remaining duration
Unmodded Phoenix Talon:
-Heals party HP/MP instantly and gives healing buff for 5s
-3 MP per second buff removed
-Party members gain speed buff for 15s after healing

Unmodded Luna Blade now freezes enemies upon hit for 5s after burning their MP
Enchant Dash increases party elemental activation chance by 5% for 15s
[Mod] Splash Explosion Rune Protection buff applies to allies as well, and additionally removes debuffs and prevents debuffs to all members for 5s
Both Critical Swords: Affect allies

[Mod] Extreme Rune Buster ignores target's defense by 50%; skill is shortened by 50% to be faster
Extreme Rune Buster has increased vertical range and gives targets all 3 debuffs for 10s
[Mod] Phoenix Talon does not return to the caster and has greater forward range for clearing
[Mod] Rising Slash: Summon three magic rune swords in front of you
Overs Geyser inflicts burn for 5s and ignores defense by 20%
Lodestar usable in air
[Mod] Sword Fire changed to shoot three flaming slashes forward in a fan shape (usable in air)

Passives:
Thinking Outside the Box: All Damage increased based on how low target's elemental resistance is (max: 50% damage increase)
Magic Chain: Now overlaps with Oz Sorceror's Petite Angkor debuff
Mana Flow:
-New buff that increase party’s max MP by 50 upon awakening, for 30s
Magic Coating:
-New buff upon using Iron Body - caster and allies gain 10 MP per second, projectile absorption, and all speed increase for 7s

I'm no RM player but trading off 50% ignore defense buff from mod phoenix talon for that unmod version becoming a healing skill doesn't sounds juicy for RM

its not and trading 15% magical attack and 10% magical damage against enemy for 20% red dmg doesnt sound good either.
i dont think people dont play RM because he's not a support, they dont because most of his skills are trash.
Like he's clearing sucks, the only viable skills its lodestar and doesnt give good damage for clearing (you should throw 2 cheesewheel) and travel faster so deal less damage when its further. He doesnt have any aerial skills (beside sword fire...).
They try to make this classe a res shred with mod luna blade and enchant break but its not that good it gonna be fine if mod luna blade shred 150 res shred like other did.
and most of skills like ERB, ERB mod, over geyser, luna blade, lodestar... need a proper rework, some of his skills still looks like the same since 2009 like luna blade.
I see what you try to give some utility for party to RM but i dont think its gonna solve his probleme, and kog gonna nerf his damage to trade for support... seems bad to me

I don’t personally like the idea of rune master being a support like this either.
I think he’s in a great spot for someone who knows what they’re doing on him. I’ve seen rune master keep up with Jesus classes like Sariel in challenge. He’s fine overall except for small bossing being cope. The freeze extension alone is a huge boost to the party’s dps and falls under that “invisible support” category where it doesn’t affect the attack support bar.

All of these changes would definetly make him a better class overall. The only changes i would make is reworking the skill animations cuz some havent changed since the classes release. I would love to see several if not most of these changes in action to see where he stands amongst other MAG supps and DPS's. On a personal note, he does need alot of these to atleast make him relevent because you almost NEVER seen RM

Making all of the majority of his self buffs party wide and giving him a heal skill doesn’t make him a good class, it makes him a buff slave. And there’s no incentive to dps yourself at that point. Rune Master is a synergy dps variant to Genesis, but he provides excellent value as a resistance shredder, defense shredder, magical amp, and duo dps.

He’s by no means bad, upper A tier at worst. All of the Elboys are.

There’s a few quality of life buffs he could get, for sure. But making him into a buff slave / healer isn’t it.

I encourage the half of you with great ideas to also make your points heard in your own suggestion post as well! It helps boost the visibility of this issue, as we can all see, with certain classes.

It would seem many people also disagree, and I would like to know from those few people what they think would make this class better? Or if they think there is nothing to change about this class. Albeit it is awfully apparent this class is highly underplayed these days, I want to know what you think about it.

I care about this class a lot and it's one of my very first classes when I started out 12 years ago, so I want to voice my suggestions. You all should voice your in a seperate post as well so we can all share our thoughts on it.

It's okay to disagree on implementation and statistics, but we do at some point have to come to agreement on the fact that something is better than nothing being done at all 😃
