Well as far as in-game stuff goes, the only benefits to star rank now are the chair, which you can get as far down as RP 2401 SSS rank, and improved stats on Champion's Accessories, so at least from that perspective you won't miss out on much by skipping Star for a season.
Right now is also a pretty tough time, since it's so soon after the rank reset and everyone who's normally so high up they don't get matches (like me) is floating around low SSS to the SS-SSS borderline.

Yeah that is true, I guess the reason what motivates me is a lot of my friends are star rank. Or at least a few of them. It makes me wanna be "up there" with them. It might also be residual trauma from elitist jerks telling me I sucked all the time cause I couldn't get star rank as easily as them. I know rationally they probably were just talking mess and looking for someone to put down to fuel their ego since I was mainly ss-sss, but it was pretty annoying. 60% of me is like "Yeah it doesnt really matter" but 40% is like "it would be very nice though."

Yes, the ranking goal is nice, but if you spend mental energy on "Get to Star", that's less that's going into the fight you're in right now.
The amount of focus I lost on those borderline matches where I know I'm Just One More Win to SSS or Just One Win to the Star rank threshold used to be awful.

If furstration hits, or you're not feeling great, as Els & work is all you've done today? Break out of the mold and do some math/arithmetic or reading to help the mind with focus.

This is gonna be "rich" coming from me, and somewhat pretentious.

Whether you win or lose, you have to harbor that some folks are going to have either:

**-More experience fighting , more adaptability than you or 90% of the population

  • a metric ton of gaming ability, meaning they're just good at whatever they play, or do in that matter.
  • they possibly have their gearing further beyond the teeth.
  • there's always someone out there that can out do you, or most people here( but that shouldn't stop you from looking at their style, how to get around certain matters, or how they fight.)
    -Characters are going to be unfair, and 90% of the chars in els have some aspect or skill that can make them unfair. (That rule applies to me, Ravens can be broken in the right hands)**

When you get these things understood, You start to look at fights not as a contest, but as a observation, or a study on how someone plays, how you can work around characters, or a project that can be tackled by chipping at it.
Whether you hit F rank , or Break top 10 doesn't matter, What matters is understanding how said character interacts against you, and what interactions can work with you, or against you, what can you use normally vs what you can't, etc.

If im fighting someone(say, some S ranks, SS's and above) that I don't expect to win against, I still want to fight them. Not out of some Anime-style Faith that I'll be the victor, but because I get to see how I do, what things can work, and what won't. If something catches? I try to keep that in mind when fighting. If not? Scrap it and try again. Insanity to keep going pushes the growth a bit.

-"Mezo, you head is messed up", Fresh air, Get some Lifts in, and Get some Physical book reading down.(still getting through some books I wanted to read, and the book reading helps with my overall work, gaming , pvping in els, etc." Make it physical reading, get away from the lights or electronics if possible.)

-"Read more stuff", go straight to the book reading, (and admittedly I re-read some chapters of a book that I'm interested in), but also write what you learned in the chapter"

-"PVE". wont deny it, does help. subjective view of it, but it keeps you objective. you may wind up seeing pvp as just another mission, instead of a match/contest. if you win, you win, you lose, you lose. people you pvp would be a stage to pass, if you don't pass, you're not ready. If you pass once, pass it again for good measure.(shallow sounding from me , but ye.), Comes from a observation that some PVE folks hop into pvp with no knowledge of comboing, (though they got gear or a diff in mindset)and win

-"Labbing"- Training room and labbing with how you play your character, be it commands, movement, make-shift catching, etc. "

-"Double task a bit." Got something you need / like to do besides gaming? Do it. the queue is just your "self time",

*if you lose, you lose, but in that loss, having a idea of how your opponent moves, even if you don't solve the problem first try, will make things alright.

keep your head up @kindred frost , and folk who read this. smooth sailing > rapid fire climbing.
Your opponents either got giga gifts, different mindsets, or years upon YEARS of EXP in pvp or the game as a whole, look at the matches with them as a chance to learn, and appoach. I need to get better at following up off of ca's platforming. I need to get more comfortable with my hitsun. I play kinds of afraid because of LAAG, I think sparring would be a great play to optimize some things
