So when people on oppressive characters like CA, lose to characters they realistically shouldn't be losing to, for some reason they never think "Oh maybe I could be the problem"

you're talking about a class whose hitboxes linger and do multi hits
if you're playing through it with a very short Super armor, well ofc it's not gonna win because RV's stuffs linger longer
Heavy Stance is not by any means invincibility, you're only iframed for a brief moment after cancelling Heavy Stance, once that iframe is gone you're back to being vulnerable ' -'
there can be some jank where cancelling as you get hit resets heavy stance but that's not always gonna be the case
And if you let yourself get hit without cancelling heavy stance then you'll drop heavy stance eventually, it has a limit. It's not a 24/7 plot armor.
If you're specifically using Guard as a CC, getting hit in the back easily cancels Guard. Besides that Raven's first 2 Z inputs in [ZZ]ZZ counts as a back hit while hitting you from the front. (Likewise you can block those 2 first hits by using Guard the other way, stupidly enough.)

Because Diablangelion has crazy hitbox jank compared to Catastrophe, there’s a lot of spamming the dive-switch extension from offscreen to fish for combos.
Cata is mostly honest, Dia hits you a whole Lu away from where it looks like the hitboxes should be.

Oh, some character has a win neutral skill button? I may as well stay grounded with my immobile non-lethal SA chains, tanking the hits instead of being caught in the air.
And just pray that I'm facing the correct direction and core guard to work properly.
CE's neutral is glorified a conditioner. It's avoidable and punishable with the right tools and good reactions.
I don't watch high elo CE plays, but I bet they they force to slow down the game just because it's hard to find a safe option on any situation.
Because once you lose the lead, it's almost over.
You get trapped, sucked to death, stuck in a corner because no mobility skills, and maybe can't fly away just because they have a "win neutral button."
So I was like oh well, why not make a gear that's designed to have retaliation gimmick because I'm going to lose neutral most fights anyways.
