Penalty for leaving midway through Online race

You’re excited, 16 people on the gates. then you realize 2nd lap in that there’s only 8 people remaining because people will crash early and just leave. maybe it’s a 30 minute ban? idk something like that because it’s really annoying

this would only be fair to do in a comp mode tho. for casual races nobody should be bound to the race

Online's dead enough, banning them will hurt it. Need to give a reward for finishing races maybe

But what could the reward be, that makes it worth it for them

it’s more going from like 9 down to 4 with 1 guy who’s a pro, a decent player and two shitters and everyone is in their own races

i feel that but realistically this is like 90% of online racing games i've played. i don't know if a penalty for leaving would even fix that

also no point in this since a tournament mode is gonna be in the game soon. leaving penalties should only be on ranked races. keep normal online races as is

it works pretty well for Rainbow 6 Siege

ur comparing apples to oranges. two completely different genres. ofc rainbow has it cuz its a pretty big deal when a teammate leaves, as theyre probably the most important thing in the game. as for racing games, people leaving a race doesnt much really affect the match. sure less people but it doesnt really give u a disadvantage like how it does in fps games

that actually is very fair and should be the case

in a public casual race, nobody should be completely bound to doing the race

bc the whole idea is that it’s just casual, you leaving doesn’t affect anyone. the real problem is that the player count is so poor online that when ANYONE leaves, it’s really really shows
