In the modpack folder. It's something you must have manually downloaded, or someone else given you a version where these files are supposed to be run.

They are probably in the same place as they are normally run (look at the screenshot). Delete them and export/share the modpack again.

Alternatively you can open the zip of the export, go into the export folder, go into the Overrides folder, and delete these files.

Essential is not recommended, it's unstable both during the loading (suddently crash, memory-heavy) and inside a world (can corrupt your entire worlds, cause lags, cause bugs with other mods, etc). We have found the origin of the sentiment that Essential corrupts worlds to come from a modding team that was spreading this in bad faith as a reason why people should buy servers (with their affiliate code).

With all of that said, if there is real evidence of Essential corrupting worlds it would be amazing if you could report it to us so we can investigate it and actually fix it (if it is a real problem)!

@sacred vale I do not do DM support but what you asked in DMs isn't possible. you would have to keep manually copying the world from vanilla to curseforge and back and forth. it isn't possible to sync the .minecraft folder to curseforge as it uses it's own install and per instance profiles.

it's also not a good idea as going from modded to vanilla then modded to vanilla can eventually cause some form of world corruption

Russia is blocking Minecraft Modded in general, this started in October 2025 a few days later after the gouvernment reached out to Modrinth to block LGBT contents. You will need to use Zapret and add very specific domains in the general-list file to bypass the DPI and being able to play with Forge and NeoForge.

Just note that it's illegal to bypass the DPI in Russia, and could get you into legal troubles. Do you want to continue?

Hii okay! So I’m having issues with a modpack, I’ve asked in the server and they’re stuck too.

Everyone else is pretty much able to play the server fine, I load up the modpack fine and I join the server then it goes to a black screen

I’ve tried reinstalling curseforge, reinstalling modpack, repairing modpack, updating my computer, allocating more and less ram, deleting oculus and JEI as told by them, etc
I’m also able to join vanilla Minecraft no problem

Changing the extension is not enough. The modpack needs to originate from CurseForge

Other launchers import will be supported in the future. But right now the only thing that CurseForge support is itself

Hi everyone, how do I clone a profile to a different version but letting all the incompatible mods? I want to play a newer version of Minecraft with my current mod-pack but retying and finding all 300 of them one by one would take a while compared to just letting them through, update ones that could be updated, leaving the ones that cant behind, and then troubleshoot from there. Putting them directly to the folder doesn’t seem to do anything.
