Hello, there's a mod on CF that's basically a near identical copy of my mod, that was open sourced. Upon investigating the code the author sent me, its most likely that it was indeed just a modified version of my mod with some new features added in. Author also admitted to being "inspired" in our personal conversation, Where could I report this for breach of license/copyright?

For skyfactory 5 i was using hamachi.didnt try using universalator but i dont think its hard to get it running. Get the forge file or server from the browser(the one that skyfactory 5 is running on latest. OBVIOUS do this if the modpack doesnt already have a server pack uploaded). Install the server local. Drag the files from the curseforge app modpack into the folders with the server local. Ask chatgpt which ones are important to run the modpack on your server: mods,kubejs,local_data,stuff like that. And then run the universalator and thats it. You might get some errors about client-side mods that are actually server-sided when you try to enter the in game server,or universalator will tell you that there were some errors in that powershell window. If you get errors in the powershell,copy errors and ask chatgpt again :)).probably some missing .jar files from mods folder misplaced so just put them back in the mods folder

You need to legally own the game to play the game. Curseforge dose not support piracy. Highly recommend buying the game as launchers that give you "free" copies of paid games tend to just be malware in disguise. OR installers for malware processes.

Hello. I have not been able to find a duplicate instance of this: I am experiencing an error attempting to generate a profile code for a Minecraft modpack using verified forge mods.
The Curseforge application freezes and jumps to using about 2GB of RAM and uses 20% of my CPU on "Writing export file".

This process typically only requires 1-3 minutes. However, waiting for 30 minutes did not complete the process.

LAN and Modded MC

Lan and Modded MC has never worked all that well, as Minecraft's LAN was really only built to support Vanilla. Modded introduces a lot more files that may need to be synced per player, this can be taxing on a lan connection, due to the host needing to work double time (or more depending on player count)

Easiest fix: make a local server and join it !mc-univ OR rent/find a server online to join.

Side note, whats the differnce between useing Minecraft launcher and curseforge launcher

In the CF app, the only difference is what app you log into. Both features still sue Micrsofts auth servers, just one has you logging into the CF app, and play without extra steps.

Where Mincraft launcher uses a copy of the official launcher straight from Microsoft, but requres the user to sign into the mc launcher, adding an extra step when you press play in cf.

Other then that, there is no difference on how the game runs / loads mods.

Something to note too with mcs lan, while yes in vanilla it can handle multiple users. When modded is involved it is a lot more packets (files/data) that needs to be sent back and forth between the user and the "world host".

With that in mind, whoever is hosting the lan, their game is not only looking after them, but also all the data for those they are playing with. As this is how minecraft "servers" work.

EX: Say their are 4 of you playing, the world hosters single game process is handling their own game, but also 3 more on top PLUS all the extra modded content.

Very likely the hosts pc just cant handle all that processing in 1 single game process and you are getting the short end of the stick here.

Would be better off making a local server (free) and joining that as it will help the hosts pc split up the workload

Would also need to make sure your mc version, modloader and mods match exactly to the friend hosting the world as well

mcs built in lan can be stupidly picky I find

Changing your DNS server
