As to what could have deleted them, it's hard to know.

I don't know any case of CurseForge deleting the modpacks by itself, or it has not been proven.
I also believe it's unlikely for CurseForge to delete them as it's not deleting anything by itself in the Instances folder unless you delete the profile.

However there is known cases of antivirus deleting modpacks or even the whole Minecraft installation

Minecraft handles ram differently then other games. Too little can have issues, but same goes for too much. As Minecraft will literally try to use all the ram you give it and try to shove it all through 1 cpu core.

Instead of speeding up the game, it slows down the cpus processing by trying to process all the ram, used or unused.

I've run into a strange issue for a little while now that I can't find any other documentation on, though I have tried. Essentially, when me and my partner both download and launch the exact same modpack, same steps for setup, and even are able to join and play together on the same server (so it isn't a version mismatch issue, as far as I can tell), but for whatever reason, they get the modpack's resource packs automatically enabled, and ordered, whereas I don't. It's bewildering to me. Having to go through and enable them all myself, and just guess what order they're meant to be in is not super fun. Any help, or suggestions are huge! Thank you either way.

How to find a faulty mod/plugin/addon by using 'Binary Search' or '50/50'

A 50/50 or binary search is a way of finding a faulty mod/plugin/addon when you have a lot of them, but without having to remove them one-by-one.

The procedure is simple:

1. Take half of the existing mods/plugins/addons and move them out into another folder.
2. Run the game.
3. Does the issue still persist?
   If YES: Repeat from step 1 with the current things.

Hi all! I am having this issue where I'm getting an "forge modloader installation failed" when trying to download a modpack for Minecraft. I did a lot of different things like reinstalling Curseforge, pressing repair installation, manually setting the path for Java, starting Minecraft normally to update. I am stumped and not sure what to do.

Ok so i ran this file before installation in the cf app through my Windows defender - no issues

Installed the pack then ran the profile folder through the same scan - no issues

Booted the pack - no issues.

Those with the issue should really open a ticket with higher cf support, this could be a geo locational thing or something with their pcs/ defender version. I know there was a windows update recently (I have it installed), that could be playing with how defender behaves.

This would be something higher cf support would really appreciate if your friends sent in their reports so that can look into it deeper, and since I am unable to reproduce the errors, I wont be able to properly send in a report to them with useful info other then "Some players have issues, but I have no reports I can share"...

1: I spent atleast 168 hours on my world
2: New update came ( the 3.9.0 update)
3: Tried to download it and when i did i started up the game and it said i cant play my world on this version
4: i was like ok so i tried to downgrade the version to the one i played on and then it js wouldnt download it was stuck on 0%
%: Then i tried everything to try and restore my world and stuff but it wouldnt work

yeah lan can be quite finnicky. most likely cause is the firewall suddenly decided it doesnt want to play ball, try adding an exception for java in there for both of you (you can figure out which java by opening task manager and right clicking minecraft then opening file location/copy file path).
Or just disabling the firewall completely

I opened Windows Security and clicked on "Allow an app through firewall", then in the "Allowed Apps" window I selected "Change settings", then "Allow another app", then "Browse". I pasted the file path to the location task manager opened and made sure to select "javaw.exe" and that's when I got the error message that it was already in the list of exceptions.

not sure if this is an issue exactly but when i loaded up curseforge and moved my mouse over to the instance of minecraft i wanted to play, instead of the usual play button that appears when i hover over the instance there was a little green dot next to it and the play button instead read kill instance, i clicked on the instance instead of the button to take me to the modlist and stuff, and in the top corner the button said play and everything looked normal, and when i went back to the modpacks it had returned to normal too and said play again - idk if this is a warning of some big issue or just like a prank or something anyone know why this happened?

Disable your antivirus and restart your computer. Then do a repair installation and restart your computer a second time if it results in a "success".

That will make sure the antivirus is not interfering with the program, system, or network, and give a better chance for the repair to actually work and apply properly.

If the issue still happens afterward, then you likely have a network issue in your side or yet another program messing around your computer

Network issues can happens with something specific. Not necessarily with every applications in your computer

For example out of 100 issues fixed with the network steps. Only ~5 (if not less) of them would have a visible effects such as slow internet or trouble with some websites or loading in a more global level

That could means that have you have a program in your computer messing around some addresses related to CurseForge

For the following steps, make sure the game is on the main menu screen first

Addons come in 2 options: Behavior Packs (BP) and Resource Packs (RP)
To install these all you need to do is:
1: download the wanted addon
2: Open your downloads folder
3: Double click on the addon
This will start the "import"

Once installed you need to enable the addons. They do not auto enable
1: Press play in the Main Menu > Create World > Create New World
2: Scroll down to the Experiments tab
3: Enable the all the Add-On Creator settings: Holiday Creator Features, Custom Biomes, Upcoming Creator Features, Beta APIs
4: You can then enable the RP or BP packs in their respective tabs in the world creation screen

Note: You can add RPs and BPs to old worlds, however this can cause issues depending on the pack, be sure to backup your worlds first

You can look at the count of how many mods are in the pack on the left in the menu or when a modlist mod is installed see if it lists the mod (would need the modloder + version to recommend you're one)

On older forge versions there is default a "mods" button
