How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
3. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

Hello! My friend and I found a modpack we're super interested, Cosmere by LeafReynolds. It's been a while since I've run a server off my desktop, and youtube video tutotirals aren't easy for me to absorb and learn from.

I've installed the mod pack on my CursedForge client, as well as all the associated mods the internet page recommends, and I've downloaded the most recent Jar file from the cosmere modpack page.

What do I do now? There doesn't seem to be an official Server Jar to download. How do I make one?

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
3. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

Hello there, I'm sure this is a question that is asked all the time but I'm having an issue across multiple modpacks where my RAM usage continues going up until it hits max and then resets. Now, I understand this is SUPPOSED to happen but the issue is that it takes around 15 seconds regardless of what I set the memory limit to and then the reset/offheap takes around 3-5 seconds for almost all modpacks.

I've set it to 6gb, takes 15 seconds to reach max then 3-5 second pause. 12gb? Same thing. Even set some packs up to 20gb and it still took around 15 seconds with a few seconds to pause. If anyone has some advice for how I can fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it. Happy to talk about which packs have worked and which ones haven't as well. Yes, shaders make it go faster but without shaders I still have the same issue.

Hi, ive been trying to submit a ticket about the skip the launcher with curseforge beta feature but the website seems to not be accepting tickets right now. When I follow the instructions to log in to my minecraft account in the CF launcher, the error I get is just "Login failed. Please try again". I have been able to log in to my minecraft account before this and I am only re-loging in because my session had expired, but it wont work. After putting in my details and clicking the agree button on the microsoft login window, the microsoft window looks normal and says im logged in, but going to CF, it doesnt change at all and waiting for about 2 minutes gives me the error "Login failed. Please try again"

Other then stone_age showing some patchouli issues with its ingame manual. I dont see any issues. Its possible this could be a either a mod doing something it shouldnt and not showing in the normal log OR it could be something going on within your pc itself. I would recommend doing an indepth virus/malware scan of your pc.

For 1.21.1 the shader mod is Iris, the dev started uploading to other modloaders. Youll need the sodium mod for it to function tho

Okay looking at the file that is connected to the original profile, it says 63 content in the mods file. Thats because Genetic Animals is the one that isnt inside the CurseForge prfile itself. But the profile says 60 content still. I am so confused-

and the duplicate says 63 because 1 is my shaders

1. Click + Create Custom Profile
2. Name it, select the required Minecraft version, select the modloader & modloader version (usually the highest number), click Create.
3. Click the profile icon.
4. Click Add More Content
5. Search and install the desired mods.
6. Start the game!

How to install mods that are not on the CurseForge app

1. Right click the profile picture or Open the profile and click the Icon next to the play button.
2. Click Open Folder.
3. Drag the mod(s) into the mods folder. (Note: Some mods will require others, to run. Make sure to read the instructions for the mod!)

hi there. me and my friends have a modded server.. i was wondering if there is a way to upload my modpack so any time i make changes to it they can just update it through the curseforge client? right now i just send them what i export and they import it but i want to have actual updates

You would still have to export the pack either way.

Only way for them to just get an update button instead of having to manually import would be if you uploaded to the cf site, but that can take a few days due to approvals. Also have to put in effort as anything uploaded to the site is for public use

At the moment only the steam version is detectable. This is due to how Microsoft handles filer permissions for the Gamepass. No eta on when/if the Gamepass will be usable.

Other games have had issues with Gamepass as well.

Changing your DNS server
