How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
3. Right click it and Open File Location
4. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
5. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
6. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
7. Click Browse
8. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
9. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
10. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
11. Click the Options button on the newly added option
12. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

A 50/50 or binary search is a way of finding a faulty mod/plugin/addon when you have a lot of them, but without having to remove them one-by-one.

The procedure is simple:

1. Take half of the existing mods/plugins/addons and move them out into another folder.
2. Run the game.
3. Does the issue still persist?
   If YES: Repeat from step 1 with the current things.
   IF NO: Swap out the current things with the ones you moved out, and repeat from step 1.
4. Repeat this process until the problematic mod(s)/plugin(s)/addon(s) have been found.

Hello, I am looking for some help here. I have created a custom modpack within curseforge, with about 50 mods, for me and a friends to play. Theres a specific shader that I would really like to add and it is called DrDestens MCShaders. When I try to use a mod from curseforge in replace of optifine, the shader gets very warped. I have been looking for a way to use optifine within my custom curseforge modpack, without it crashing every time, like it has been doing. I am currently using cureforge version 47.3.0 and minecraft version 1.20.1.

I want to play "New game 2 "mod pack but every time I try to launch the game I get this error (10s after I click on play) : "Exit code 1"
I tried rebooting my computer and deleting the mod pack. I increased the minecraft RAM (11008MB) checked my drivers and everything but I keep getting this error.

I also created a modpack 1.20.1 with forge 47.3.0 with no other mods and i crashed but in vanilla it worked, I suppose the issue comes from forge but I don't know if there is something I can do to avoid this error, can you help me ?

When i click login i have to copy a code and Open a Browser Tab, there i have to put in the code im using and then the email, when i did that i have to enter the Code i got in the email. Sorry, but yes, at the moment the CF app has a hard-coded install location which can't be changed. Your friend will have to look for other apps that can be safely uninstalled from c and installed on his d drive to make space.

How to **manually** install a server - **On your own PC**

1. Check if the modpack has a server pack, if it does: use that and skip below.
2. Go to the Forge website http://files.minecraftforge.net/ and download the Installer for the forge version the pack is using.
3. Run the installer and choose Install server. Do not install to your desktop. Also do not install inside a OneDrive folder.
4. Run the server using the forge.jar. A file called eula.txt will be generated. Open it and change eula=false to eula=true
5. From the Client; Copy the mods folder, config folder, and any other folders needed for the pack to work into the server folder. If the modpack has a server pack, use this instead!
6. Run the server again.
7. Port forward your machine if needed. (Google it)

I did that, but because I use "simply skills" mod, I have to install version 0.12.2 instead of 0.13.2. But when I uploaded the file with 0.13.2, they approved it.
So I am now uploading a version of 0.12.2 for pufferfish skills mod and seeing if that will work.

This is a mac issue, macs have a stupid feature that auto unzips zip files on download. Youll either need to google how to disable that on your mac and re-download the file

Open the folder of the pack you want to download > zip the 2 manifest files and the overrides folder in a zip > then import that

1. Click + Create Custom Profile
2. Name it, select the required Minecraft version, select the modloader & modloader version (usually the highest number), click Create.
3. Click the profile icon.
4. Click Add More Content

hi, having several issues with the newest install of curseforge, can't seem to figure out a way to fix it. first is that the UI is too large and some things are not showing and I cannot resize or scroll... the second issue is that it will not allow me to change the install location which is really messing with me as I cannot install it at the default location or I get a lot of following issues.

Question. Does anyone have problems with very long startup of modpacks? Something like pressed Play and only after 10-20 minutes will launch the game (it is the long launch in the launcher, not the game itself!).. Also every time is re-loading the game assets and other things. Previously, such a problem was not. Sometimes there is a launch error.

hello i need some help. i wanted to move my curseforge to another folder. so i moved the whole folder to a new folder and it didn't work. so i tried to put back the other folder and start it up but it won't show any of the stuff i had before. so is there any way to restore that all?

You cant move the cf app itself, but you can move the games connected too it. For minecraft see the below, You will need to manually copy/move your old instances folder to the new instance folder

The cf app and the games it supports save in 2 different locations. App itself saves in appdata, games like mc save elsewhere.

if you moved the folder that holds your instances, but didnt tell cf to point to the new folder, then it will continue using the old path
