Hey, so i want to play CurseForge Modpacks like Create+ or Steampunk but i want to add shaders like chocapic to it. I ran Optifine on the specific minecraft version, and ran minecraft previously etc. and added optifine to the mod folder as well, but when i do that minecraft launcher opens and when i click play it doesnt start. :small_orange_diamond: Upload to Curseforge - For Public Release to Everyone

This option will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

1. Go to create a new project
2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.
4. Click the button next to play.
5. Click Export.
6. Select the files that should be included.
7. Open your Project that you made on the CurseForge site and Upload the file you just made.

At the moment only the steam version is detectable. This is due to how Microsoft handles filer permissions for the Gamepass. No eta on when/if the Gamepass will be usable.

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
3. Find Minecraft in the list of running programs. It will be called something like Java or OpenJDK Binary. (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the Memory tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference (called Custom options for apps in Win 11) select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.
4. Click the button next to play.
5. Click Export.
6. Select the files that should be included.
7. Open your Project that you made on the CurseForge site and Upload the file you just made.

I’m having a lot of trouble navigating the app. I had an account a while ago which I used for Kerbal Space Program, and never encountered any of the problems I’m having right now. When I open the app, it tells me to choose a game, and only gives me 5 options; The Sims 4, Minecraft, Palworld, Stardew Valley, and World of Warcraft. I play none of these games except for The Sims 4, which I haven’t played in a long time. On the left side of the menu, there’s two options; Home, and The Sims 4. There’s nothing on the top except for back and forward arrows. Through a browser, I have no problem navigating this app, but I don’t think I’ve properly linked the same account to the app as I have to the browser, I think one of them is a different account by accident. I can’t tell, because I don’t know where to go on the app to find out what my username is, and the UI is completely different on the two of them. When I try to log out on the app, nothing changes except for my icon turning from purple to grey. When I try to log back in, the only way I can do it is through Twitch (which I have only EVER used to watch a friend play one of my favorite games once). If I go into settings, my options are CurseForge, Addons, Languages, Themes, Privacy, and Advanced (which is funny because the advanced options have only two options). Below that is the “Game Specific” category, which only shows The Sims 4. I have no idea how to use this app. I can’t find Ark: Survival Ascended, or Kerbal Space Program, which is the only game that I’ve ever used CurseForge for.

Cause my brother @tough obsidian uses CF launcher and sets it to 8GB when it opens the vanilla one and after he opens it later it resets again and doesn't save (think CF launcher has it's own ram setting that the vanilla one uses by default).

Hello! I am trying to log into the Curseforge client so I can sync my WoW addons across my two computers. On my linux machine, when I press Log In in the client it redirect me to a browser to do a Twitch login, which I do, but then the browser sais "All good go back to the app" and nothing happens in the app. This seems to be the only login method within the client. I found the problem and solution. I had to do two things :

• In /usr/shared/applications/curseforge.desktop I added %u at the end of the Exec command, like so : Exec=/opt/CurseForge/CurseForge-0.244.4-16117.AppImage %u
• In ~/.config/mimeapps.list the entries related to CurseForge expected the .desktop file to be capitalized, I changed it to reflect my curseforge.desktop

And it works now 🙂 Thanks to https://github.com/electron-userland/electron-builder/issues/4035 for the tips on how to solve it

How to update your mod loader within the same game version in the CurseForge app

1. Click on the modpack profile you are working with.
2. Click on the button next to the play button.
3. Click on the Profile Options button.
4. Select the mod loader version you want from the dropdown.

Changing Java version for installing Forge

1. Install the latest Java 17 using the .msi installer that downloads when you click that link.
2. Open CurseForge and click the in the bottom left corner.
3. Go to the Minecraft tab and scroll down to "Java version used for installing Forge modloader"
4. Click Select
5. In the file explorer window that opens, click on This PC, then Windows (C:)
6. Open the Program Files folder, then the Java folder, then the folder that starts with jdk-, then the bin folder.
7. Click on javaw.exe, then confirm it with Open, in the bottom right of file explorer.
8. Follow the instructions from !mc-installfix (if your internet is slow the instructions from !mc-updatemodloader work but need to be done on every broken profile)

I have been using curseforge just fine for several years now, but as of recently, I tried a new minecraft modpack which wouldnt ever startup, as it kept crashing in the minecraft launcher. I had noticed that curseforge had an update, but whenever i tried installing it, it would immedietly tell me it failed due to an unknown error. In an attempt to fix it, I uninstalled both curseforge and Overwolf and tried re-installing it manually. The first time, I tried installing the standalone curseforge, but it came up with a connection error. The second time, I tried doing it through Overwolf, and I assume it didnt work because i sat for about two hours waiting for it to download, as the screen showed it was installing, but nothing happened. I am now back at the connection error screen after going through all of the troubleshooting guide and have no idea why I have this issue. I very highly doubt it is my internet as the connection test comes back strong, and I am having no other issues with any other programs

i doubt its a mod because its an FTB pack and other people would be having the same issue, and I know its curseforges doing because my normal minecraft installation doesnt do this. This sucks cause it ends up taking all available ram on the system then locking up and crashing with an out of memory error.

you need to rewrite code that the mod uses. it's something the author of a mod would bee doing to update their code. most people making fleshed out modpacks right now are still using 1.20.1 as the 'major version' of modding

I just started using forge so I'm verry new and might just be missing something simple . The most recent version of forge 1.20.4 works on my computer and I can launch Minecraft with that version. I want to use forge 1.20.1 or even some of the other later versions but for whatever reason when I try to launch any later version of Forge it seems like nothing will work. I have Java 17 installed, I've taken all of the mods out of the folder and launched it just as is, I have deleted the .Minecraft file and reinstalled it and nothing has worked. I guess forge stilll technically works on my computer but is it normal to not be able to use any later versions ? When the game crashes it just gives me error code 1 but no crash log.

I'm trying to write a program that will allow me to download a specific mod of a specific version by using the curseforge api, do I absolutely need a token? looking at the java sample code it doesn't look like I'm specifically adding a token to the header. I don't see anything in the java sample code that would add a token to the header. If it is required in java, it would be great if you could tell me how to do that as well. I will be publishing this project in the future, so if it's not possible, I hope it will be as easy as possible not to have to publish the token. Thank you in advance.

to use the curseforge API you need to have a key. you can apply to get a key, as long as you explain what you will be using for in your application and use it that way. there are terms of course in agreemeent of being assigned one - you should read what those are first imho - it's published on the CF website
