Regardless always keep backups of your data. Cf may have, and in all likelihood this time it may have, or may not but critical info is missing to make a definitive determination that it did and how it did and if it was a bug or not.

this tool only helps local corruption

whether it be a partially downloaded mod update, or a missing reference on the mod maker's part, it errored you out locally and cause your files to delete. I'm glad you were able to recover it and we can always dive logs with the tech team if more specific info is given, or if you put a ticket in online, so that if the error is on CF's side it can be identified and patched.

and, if it's not, then the mod maker can be aware in case they made a mistake

I'll be the first to lay blame on whomever is responsible once the bug hunt shows the truth lol. However, I wouldn't demonize CF without knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that that is what happened.

So far I've seen no report or mention of the mods in question and which one was "deleted" as to why you lost your data.

This isn't being combative towards you in any way either.

Just making it clear that without logs or a bug path we can't know who or what was at fault.

I'd have to research more because from what I understand, for every game except ARK, you guys download direct files and install them on your devices and/or servers. Updates are manually downloaded and installed as well.

yes i have heaps of mods i use that arent on curseforge bc theyre nsfw or they were just never uploaded there. the sims x curseforge thing is new it only started last year and not all modders have adopted it

new always needs to be taken with a grain of salt. We were the first to do fully compatible crossplay with mods via CF for ARK. Idk many games that have managed to do that.

Granted consoles are giving us more limitations and ToS conflicts but it's a learning curve and is to be expected.

So me and my friend have a custom better minecraft modpack that has never given me any issues in the past, but all of a sudden, its lagging after i reinstalled the modpack. I open the launcher, i have enough ram, etc, and when I try to launch the bar goes up to the position showed in the screenshot and either says 3 things "Finalizing", "Preparing", or what it says below. And it never goes past that and won't launch. I can tell it's trying to install something cuz my friend tells me my mic lags in discord when doing it but it doesn't actually do anything. my internet is 250 download and 15 upload which should be more than enough to fix this problem. My friends and I are playing a Modpack that is hosted on CurseForge. Some people want to add a few mods but the others are too lazy to download and install these mods manually. Is it morally and legally accepted, if I make my own Modpack but use the existing Modpack as the base? Thanks in advance :)

Better to make your own pack from scratch. Will make it easier for you and us to trouble shoot issues.

Otherwise if an issue comes up you'll be on your own to fix it as we will have 0 clue what the original dev did to get the pack to work they way they did or what you did to alter it....

What you do to a pre-made pack is up to you, just don't try to reupload it to CF as your own.

Hello, is there not a way to change the download location of the curseforge application? I simply cannot have it be installed on the default location.

Basically It forces me to install it in program files on my C: drive, while the way I have my system organized it should go on my N: drive and the app is being inflexible and not letting me put it there.

Since curseforge seems unwilling or unable to provide official support here, this was my fix: Uninstalling overwolf and curseforge via the installer, then downloading the curseforge standalone (which is a different version number). Then, if you're using it for Minecraft, use the gear icon (settings) and change the path of your file. For some terrible reason the overwolf version has different default pathing than the standalone.

I have two questions:

1. Why can't I choose where the curseforge app installs to? I googled it and couldn't find a reason, just people expression the same frustration for literally a decade
2. why is the vanilla minecraft mod folder an "invalid" location if the app is gonna force me to put it on my c drive anyway? the "learn more" link only tells me THAT it's invalid, but this is unsatisfactory, as Forge itself literally uses it, so what gives? I've literally just installed hte launcher and I already have to reasons to immediately uninstall it

1: im not 100% sure, my best guess is in the event logs are needed for the app itself, easier to find them manually if they are in the same location vs asking the user to find them without instructions months from now if they altered the location and forgot..

2: The CF app installs its own copy of the official mc launcher, this is to separate it from the .minecraft folders mc. With this the app also saves each mc profile to its own instance folder to prevent any pack mixing. This would break the .minecraft folder or at least make it so that the original launcher would no longer work... Users had done this in the past, then yelled at us for breaking it...

My Minecraft keeps crashing immediately after loading when trying to use the curseforge app. It keeps giving me exit code 1. I'm trying to set it up on my friends new computer, so he literally just downloaded Minecraft not an hour ago and he only launched it and played in it for ~30 seconds to get the files.

The files generate and everything when using the app so idk what could be the issue. I would try out more myself but I figured I'd ask first and potentially save myself a couple hours.

Also to clarify, we got it to work on his previous PC no issue

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
3. Find Minecraft in the list of running programs. It will be called something like Java or OpenJDK Binary. (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the Memory tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference (called Custom options for apps in Win 11) select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

How to get started with shaders

Playing with a shaders mod like Oculus, Iris, or others and want more flair to your world? Don’t know what shader to pick from or where to look? try looking on Shaderlabs or the shaders tab on the CurseForge site.

To get started using shaders:

1. Download the shader mod and its requirements for the mod loader you’re using and run the game at least once to generate the shaderpacks folder
2. Download the shader you want from either the CurseForge site or Shaderlabs (linked above)
3. In the CurseForge app, right-click the modpack profile icon OR click the button in the modpack profile
4. Click Open Folder
5. Open the shaderpacks folder and place the shader file you downloaded in there
6. Select the shader file in the in-game shaders menu and wait for it to load (if it needs to)
7. Play!

WARNING: Shaders do not appear on the CurseForge app. Not every shader will work with Iris or Oculus. Be aware of your computer's ability to handle shaders

I wish apple would just stop removing drivers... This is the error your getting GLFW error 65543: Requested OpenGL version 4.3, got version 4.1
Now apple decided at one point to just pull support for that for what ever reason.

You will need to remove the mods braincel api and Danny's Expansion from the pack to be able to play Dawncraft on mac

Adding mods to a pack you didnt make is the fastest way to break a pack. If you want to do that make your own custom pack from scratch. Unless you are 100% ready to troubleshoot any issues on your ownn
