otherwise you can install a server on your own computer

How to **manually** install a server - **On your own PC**

1. Check if the modpack has a server pack, if it does: use that and skip below.
2. Go to the Forge website http://files.minecraftforge.net/ and download the Installer for the forge version the pack is using.
3. Run the installer and choose Install server. Do not install to your desktop. Also do not install inside a OneDrive folder.
4. Run the server using the forge.jar. A file called eula.txt will be generated. Open it and change eula=false to eula=true
5. From the Client; Copy the mods folder, config folder, and any other folders needed for the pack to work into the server folder. If the modpack has a server pack, use this instead!
6. Run the server again.
7. Port forward your machine if needed. (Google it)

Have you run a virus checker on your machine? Windows has one built in but if you are worried, grab the free one from Malwarebytes and run a full scan with that

How to upload a server pack

It should include the config and mod folders at a minimum, plus anything else you specifically required to run the server. Start/Run/Setup scripts are optional. Don't include modloader files or the minecraft server jar.
2. Go to the Files tab on the project.
3. Click the name of the file you wish to upload the server pack to. The pack and server should match pack versions.
4. Click Upload Additional File.
5. Fill out the form.

Changing Java version for installing Forge

1. Download and install this
2. Open CurseForge and click the in the bottom left corner.
3. Go to the Minecraft tab and scroll down to "Java version used for installing Forge modloader"
4. Click Select
5. In the file explorer window that opens, click on This PC, then Windows (C:)
6. Open the Program Files folder, then the Java folder, then the jdk-17.0.3.1 folder, then the bin folder.
7. Click on javaw.exe, then confirm it with Open, in the bottom right of file explorer.

Hey guys. I just uploaded a datapack, but I didn't quite have the description typed out yet cause I didn't expect it to get approves quite as fast as it did and I still had a list of mods the datapack works for to copy out while I was "waiting". so, will someone look at it again? I just finished typing it out.

When I set it to 36.2.39 it gives the error, but then i set it to the regular 1.16.5.jar file, it gives me the incompatible vanilla server.

Hi, I have a problem with the app. It must have auto-updated sometime this week because I cannot open it anymore. My IOS version does not support the latest version of the app:

You should still be able to play modded minecraft, but it will be more awkward.

I can only talk from a pc viewpoint but am assuming mac will have a similar setup, so on a pc there is a folder within the user area called .minecraft if you can find that folder on your mac you can add mods directly into it from the cf website. It won't be optimised like a modpack would be, but it will still allow the mods to run

A google search should get you some more detailed instructions

Sadly no, minecraft mods are tied to the mc version they were made for. If the mod creator hasn't done a version for the mc you want to play you can either stick with the mc version the mod works with, or find a different mod that does a similar thing for the mc version you want to play

You are probably best to create a new modpack with mods that work with 1.20. If only some of the mods in the modpack have a 1.20 version then you will get errors trying to run the modpack

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
2. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
3. Right click it and Open File Location
4. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
5. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
6. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
7. Click Browse
8. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
9. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
10. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
11. Click the Options button on the newly added option
12. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

Shouldn't need to get beyond pg 500 because that's where the page where the last modpack in the list will be. Most of the page numbers are hidden because there would be too many to fit on the screen, new page numbers will become visible as you move through the ones you can see. It is the same system that you see on amazon or ebay etc.

Did you run both tools linked in the article? The 2nd one, the Jar malware scanner does a more detailed look at the contents of your mc mods/profiles etc.

If both scanners came up clean and you don't have anything weird happening on your computer, then you probably managed to avoid the malware
