How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
2. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
3. Right click it and Open File Location
4. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
5. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
6. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
7. Click Browse
8. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
9. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
10. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
11. Click the Options button on the newly added option
12. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

Changing Java version for installing Forge

1. Download and install this
2. Open CurseForge and click the in the bottom left corner.
3. Go to the Minecraft tab and scroll down to "Java version used for installing Forge modloader"
4. Click Select
5. In the file explorer window that opens, click on This PC, then Windows (C:)
6. Open the Program Files folder, then the Java folder, then the jdk-17.0.3.1 folder, then the bin folder.

3. Click the profile icon.
4. Click Add More Content
5. Search and install the desired mods.
6. Start the game!

1. Right click the profile picture or Open the profile and click the Icon next to the play button.
2. Click Open Folder.
3. Drag the mod(s) into the mods folder. (Note: Some mods will require others, to run. Make sure to read the instructions for the mod!)

The modpack has a custom server created on Aternos, therefore the creators allowed the distribuition of content on 3th parties.

the project page does have a description on how it gets used. i'd recommend using 'open loader' or 'paxi' myself as they're more intuitive (put data/resource packs into the automatically generated mod folder location)

Thing is I do have the mod called "MmmMmmMmmMmm (Target dummy)" It was last updated 2 years ago (9/26/2021 release) I need to confirm. Is this a same mod on the list?

the only issue is if u downloaded during the 2 day period it wasnt quarantined

u might have a stage 0 file in that case u can just delete it before starting minecraft

I'm curious about how this attack happened. I'm aware that well-known accounts were compromised, but I find it quite embarrassing that CF doesn't perform virus scans every time a mod or modpack is uploaded, even if they're from trusted authors. Does anyone have any information on this matter?

the scans have been upped to pick up more stuff as a result of this incident (tho its turned up a bunch of false positives too)

If they increase the number of false positives to such an extent, I believe CF should consider using a more effective antivirus. While it might not completely solve the issue, they could potentially adopt two or three antivirus programs. This would provide better judgment on whether a detection is a false positive or not. Moreover, with more thorough scans, it would likely be evident that many mods and modpacks contain similar or even identical malware, reducing the likelihood of false positives.

cause most of them work by comparing against existing viruses, and this is different

(the type of scanning cf is doing now is literally looking at all the code in the mod looking for certain class/method references)

For some reason I cant start any modpacks in 1.18.2, it will always give me exit code: 1, 5-10 seconds after starting it. I have reinstalled java 4 times, reinstalled Minecraft and Curseforge and updated my drivers. It is only for the 1.18.2 modpacks, when I load up any other version it works perfectly fine, it also works fine when I load up vanilla 1.18.2. I have no fabric mods and all the mods I have installed are for the correct version. I have tried every thing that I can find If you can help, that would be great.

Regardless, I believe a company like CF has the capability to invest in enhanced security. My assumption is that they simply didn't prioritize it, thinking it was unlikely to occur. Interestingly, now that this entire debacle has unfolded, both CF and other platforms suddenly seem to be implementing security measures that were absent before. It's either astonishing that they managed to develop and implement these measures within a few days, or perhaps they didn't deem it necessary to adopt them earlier. After all, we are dealing with companies here, not nonprofit organizations or groups of friends who share a common passion.

Hey i cant install or make any modpack thats 1.16.5. I launch regular mc in that version and it works fine but when i do it in curseforge it errors saying java runtime 8 isnt installed. it is however installed and so is java 17. Ive repaired the install folder several several times to no avail.
