How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
2. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
3. Right click it and Open File Location
4. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
5. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
6. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
7. Click Browse
8. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
9. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
10. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
11. Click the Options button on the newly added option
12. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

To Answer to myself I have the method, If you ever want to restore a deleted profile, ping me here and ask me how I did it.
I used a third party program called Wondershare Recoverit, and used the folder scan option. Friendly reminder to not to use other tools that cleans memory and sector of a SSD or HDD.

so i take it the devs are still looking into this? Would they like suggestions? Remove the apps weak implementation of Chrome and leverage my default browser on my computer instead. Pass the token to the browser and get the auth bearer token back from my browser and pass it to the app for authn/z. Your in-app browser has issues with handling cookies and writing them to disk, is my guess. Avoid that.

I don't know if it's the same in the Sims with modding as is with Minecraft, but open the Modding folder for your file and copy and paste the files on an USB if it's under 16 gigabytes (unless you have a stick with above that) and when you get your new PC, install curseforge and copy and paste the files in

@shadow thistle Like Birby said, copy your Mods folder to a usb. You will probably also want to copy your Saves folder and maybe your Screenshots folder too

On a Windows machine all those folders are found in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4. I believe it's the same or very similar on a Mac.

When you install Sims on the new machine, run the game once so it generates all the user folders then copy your files from the usb into the new folders in documents.

After that, run the curseforge app so it can read the contents of your mods folder and log all your mods.

If you have a current backup of your mods folder you can just copy that into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder and that will add all your mods back in. If you don't have a suitable backup then 1 at a time is the only way.

You should probably tell the app to 'Scan mods folder' to get an accurate picture of what is in there.

Changing Java version for installing Forge

1. Download and install this
2. Open CurseForge and click the in the bottom left corner.
3. Go to the Minecraft tab and scroll down to "Java version used for installing Forge modloader"
4. Click Select
5. In the file explorer window that opens, click on This PC, then Windows (C:)
6. Open the Program Files folder, then the Java folder, then the jdk-17.0.3.1 folder, then the bin folder.
7. Click on javaw.exe, then confirm it with Open, in the bottom right of file explorer.
8. Follow the instructions from !mc-installfix (if your internet is slow the instructions from !mc-updatemodloader work but need to be done on every broken profile)

Since yesterday I've been trying to post a minecraft modpack to play with my friends, I've already created 3 projects and made some changes to the modpack, however, it always gives me a problem, mainly "The file is a duplicate of an existing file. Ultra Parasites 1.01 in project -858030 " even if I delete the modpack found to be a duplicate or re-export from the app, it still stays that way. I already asked a friend of mine to try to do this, but he gave the same error. Thanks in advance.

1. Click the Icon for the modpack.
2. Click the button next to play.
3. Click Export.
4. Select the files that should be included.
5. Send the zip to the people that want it! They can follow the instructions in !mc-installpack to install the pack.

:small_orange_diamond: Upload to Curseforge - For Public Release to Everyone

This option will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

1. Go to create a new project
2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.
4. Click the button next to play.
5. Click Export.
6. Select the files that should be included.
7. Open your Project that you made on the CurseForge site and Upload the file you just made.
8. Wait for Moderation & Sync so it can show up in the client! (See !sync for limitations and !status to learn about the moderation process and how long it will take to approve/decline)

The detection notification is getting on my nerves, and slightly worrying since OW doesn't seem to know better, so I'm considering blocking the executable from running even though I suspect it's not being actively malicious. Hello. I am trying to upload ATM8 World Save zip folder and have been having numerous issues uploading to curseforge.

I got a few gateway errors, my project isn't showing up in my profile, the files that claimed to of uploaded are not showing in the Files tab of the project.

I do have a red notice on the Description tab of the project indicating that a moderator needs to approve. However, how is someone going to approve if the files aren't showing up?

I tried creating a project for the same purpose on 4/26 and that project is still not approved.

Is there something more that I am supposed to do?

4. Select the files that should be included.

This option will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

How to upload a server pack

Serverpacks are special files uploaded alongside an existing project file. If the main file is rejected the server pack is also rejected.

*In order to upload a server pack you must have a pre-uploaded export file

1. Make the server pack by zipping up the required files by selecting the required folders & files. It should include the config and mod folders at a minimum, plus anything else you specifically required to run the server. Start/Run/Setup scripts are optional. Don't include modloader files or the minecraft server jar.
2. Go to the Files tab on the project.
3. Click the name of the file you wish to upload the server pack to. The pack and server should match pack versions.
4. Click Upload Additional File.
5. Fill out the form.

Installing DawnCraft (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/dawn-craft) using the curseforge app spits out an error at 33%, a split second after it says Deleting Temporary files, just after Unzipping DawnCraft - An Adventure RPG Modpack.

Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Temp\CF\wZS3p5rrokuL8gs1tOPPg\5\overrides\global_packs\required_data\towns-and-towers-structure-overhaul-terralith-1-6\data\towns_and_towers\worldgen\configured_structure_feature\pillager_outpost_old_growth_birch_forest.json!.

I've tried restarting my pc, restarting curseforge, running curseforge as administrator, installing different versions of DawnCraft, installing Java SE 18 (was not sure if I had it installed before), deleting the temp files, yet it still spits out that error.

I went into the temp folders while the modpack was installing (I had to install it a bunch of times cause I didn't have time to get to the folder before curseforge cleared the temp folder), and the file that's causing the error is not there.

I'm not sure if this error is a DawnCraft specific error, or it's curseforge's, but I've installed a bunch of other modpacks before and have not encountered this error yet.

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
2. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
3. Right click it and Open File Location
4. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
5. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
6. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
7. Click Browse
8. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
9. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
10. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
11. Click the Options button on the newly added option
12. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

Hi all, I keep having this problem with CurseForge: sometimes, randomly and without any kind of consistency, the software simply disappears from my laptop, the savefiles remain but the software simply vanishes as if it never existed and every third to fourth time I want to play I have to reinstall the whole thing.

Hi guys, this is my Last Attemp before I give up. I have a modpack with 115 mods on 1.16.5 on Curseforge. All of them compatible with eachother (blessed by the miracle i am), and the game runs smoothly at 25-30 fps on my laptop. The problem? I open a world, the world generates around me, everything works ok, but then as i explore i reach a threshold where everything stops and nothing new is generated, chunks arent created, mobs stop moving or suffering damage, actions are meaningless, and I dont even get a crash report, I have to just close the game using task manager. In short, the game stops completely. After spawn I have a max range of at least 150 chunks where everything moves, I cross a chunk border and everything stops. I was wondering if maybe its an error or damage on my graphic card or my laptop is just too old for minecraft now. My specs are 8 gb ram, intel HD 620 for graphic, as processor Intel core i3-7020 with 2.3 GHz, a 1/2 terabyte ssd, no dedicated cpu and nothing else. What could be the problem?

This option will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

1. Go to create a new project
2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.
4. Click the button next to play.
5. Click Export.
6. Select the files that should be included.
7. Open your Project that you made on the CurseForge site and Upload the file you just made.
8. Wait for Moderation & Sync so it can show up in the client! (See !sync for limitations and !status to learn about the moderation process and how long it will take to approve/decline)

you cant, at least not fully. Would need to open a ticket to get the file fully removed. Just make a small change to the file your trying to upload. Should be enough to change the files hash value.

those files that were previously published on curseforge can't be used in exports unfortunately because of how the system works. the mod was added as an approved 3rd party mod but only version files not previously published on the curseforge system can be used

I have deleted forge, java, minecraft completly restarted my pc, then redownloaded them all. I have followed 20+ videos steps 5+ website's steps. and yet for some reason every single time I load ANY minecraft modpack, regardless if the pack even has mods I get this. I am actually at a lost of what to do. do I need a mojang sign in version of minecraft rather then a microsoft login version? that is the last thing I can think of. Every time I load a pack it will close the launcher, wait 10ish seconds, then give me the error log as bellow. It happens on fabric or forge, vanilla works fine.

So, I am unsure if this is the right place to even ask my question. However since there are a lot of knowledgeable people here I will post my problem here.

I have a server running the Fantasy Furniture mod (amongst many other). It worked fine for about a month now. However, yesterday I added the MrCrayFish's Furniture Mod and it seems to have messed up the block ID's. When I loaded the world, all the blocks of FF were replaced with other blocks (suddenly the Nordic Bookshelf was replaced with FF's bottles and bookpiles). FF is not the only mod that is affected (Namely, Macaw's Paths and Fences and Carpet Trapdoors are also affected). So I was wondering if anyone else has had compatibility issues with FF and MCF's Furniture Mod.
Additionally, if anyone has an idea how to resolve this issue, it'd be much welcomed. Even after uninstalling both FF and MCF, the world is full of glitched up blocks.

Funny enough, when I initially installed the mod, it downloaded the latest version, so why did it tell me to "update" to this version? It's not like the latest is marked as beta or something... they are both release builds

hello, joined bc i had an interesting thing happen to me:

I had curse forge open to minecraft, and as I was browsing my files ive noticed that my curse forge kept trying to add a "raining ores" mod onto my list repeatedly. It managed to add 3 duplicated and I couldnt really delete them off the list. After restarting the app, the unwanted mods were gone.
The username for the mod seemed generic (ForgeUser_'numbers-here')

is the app adding mods on its own a common occurrence? is this a security issue and i should change my information?
