I'm looking into upgrading a private server I run from a 1.16.5 world to a 1.18.2 world with curseforge custom modpack.

All we really care about is keeping our construction and our stuff.

Not bothered about achievements, advancements in mods like magical ones, and the like. Perfectly fine with starting over for those things

I've found replacements for the majority of our mods in 1.18.2 and don't think the ones that haven't been updated from 1.16.5 are dealbreakers.

But I'm totally unsure of what I should keep and what I have to do to upgrade server but keep same world.

Any hints/helps?

How to add/remove mods in a modpack.

1. Click on the picture of the modpack.
2. Click the Add More Content button, IF this button is not there, see below before continuing.
3. Find the Mods, Resource Packs or Maps you wish to Install and click Install on them.
4. Wait for all the required mods to be downloaded.
5. Start the modpack.

How to Enable/Disable content management for modpacks.

1. Click on the picture of the modpack.
2. Click on the button next to the Play button.
3. Click on Profile Options.
4. Check the Allow content management for this profile option if you want to edit the content of the modpack, uncheck it to disable.

NOTE: The Allow content management for this profile option is what allows you to Delete, Disable, Update or Install any Mods, Resource Packs or Maps managed by CurseForge. It must be on to modify any of them! (Currently)

Export and Share - For Friends to Small Groups.

1. Click the Icon for the modpack.
2. Click the button next to play.
3. Click Export.
4. Select the files that should be included.
5. Send the zip to the people that want it! They can follow the instructions in !mc-installpack to install the pack!

Upload to Curseforge - For Public Release to Everyone.

This options will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

1. Go to here: https://www.curseforge.com/project/432/4471/create
2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.
4. Click the button next to play.
5. Click Export.
6. Select the files that should be included.
7. Open your Project you made on the CurseForge site and Upload the file you just made.
8. Wait for Moderation & Sync so it can show up in the client! (See !sync for limitations)

Hi guys im new here as well as to the whole modding side of Minecraft and I have continuously run into the same issue when trying to load into and play mods I have found through CurseForge. For example purposes I will use the "All the Mods 7" mod to help illustrate my issue. This particular mod was updated 5 days ago, runs 1.18.2 version of minecraft, and 40.1.60 version of Forge. I have done my due diligence and ensured that the versions I was using properly lined up with what the mod pack says it requires. But for some reason when I launch the mod and go to check the data packs I get numerous mods with the "Incompatible (Made for an older version of Minecraft)" red highlighted pack errors. I know im obviously missing a step here but I would really appreciate any help offered to help me resolve this issue. I have spent the past few hours watching "The Breakdown" on youtube but I still haven't found the right resolution to my issue. My apologies for the long message, I just wanted to illustrate my issue as clearly and concisely as possible to help mitigate chatter in the chat.

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows.

1. Open the CF settings.
2. Open the Minecraft Tab.
3. Click Change.
4. Click in the address bar where it says "This PC".
5. Push CTRL+C to copy the text that is highlighted.

7. Click the on the taskbar.
8. Type in gpu, you should see a Graphics Settings option, click it.
9. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App.
10. Click Browse.

13. Hit enter.
14. Now open the Install folder from the list that shows up.

Upload to Curseforge - For Public Release to Everyone.

This options will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.

I made a modpack but it got rejected because the "File is a duplicate of an existing file" I uploaded one then deleted it so I could upload another without a certain mod, otherwise i'm not sure what that means as I made the modpack myself.

Forge 1.19 & You

Forge has released changes that break mods. The best option you have at the moment is to wait for mods to update to fix their issues with forge. If you do not wish to do that you can:

-Downgrade to forge 41.0.63, then downgrade all the mods that show an error until you find a version that works.
-Read your logs to see which mods are breaking and report the issue to the mod author
-Remove all your mods, and reinstall them 1 by 1 to check which will have issues and remove any that do.
-Check the dates of the last release of the mods you choose compared to the last breaking change from forge (version 41.0.94)

If you can't or don't want to do any of these then wait until 1.19.1 to use forge again.

Download counts don't always update properly on the site. They are still counted though, it will update eventually.

Sync and your Project.

CurseForge App and site do not share the same requirements! You can find things on the site but this does not mean it will be in the app!
For a mod to show up in the app:

• Projects MUST have a file marked as RELEASE or BETA
• Projects MUST be APPROVED
• Projects MUST have a file marked for the GAME VERSION SELECTED/LOADED
• Projects CAN'T be EXPERIMENTAL
• Projects CAN'T be ABANDONED

Files can take a while to show up in the app. If your files still have not shown up either your project is new and you have yet to mark a file as Release/Beta or there is issues with the sync system making it slow.

How to get the launcher log

1. Right click a modpack / profile.
2. Select Open Folder
3. Go back two folders.
4. Open the Install folder.
5. Drag the launcher_log.txt into discord.

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows.

1. Open the CF settings.
2. Open the Minecraft Tab.
3. Click Change.
4. Click in the address bar where it says "This PC".
5. Push CTRL+C to copy the text that is highlighted.
6. Close the Select a folder window.
7. Click the on the taskbar.
8. Type in gpu, you should see a Graphics Settings option, click it.
9. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App.
10. Click Browse.
11. In the address bar where it says This PC, click it.
12. Push CTRL+V to paste in the location you got in step #4-5.
13. Hit enter.
14. Now open the Install folder from the list that shows up.
15. Open the runtime folder.
16. Click in the Search runtime box in the top left and put javaw.exe in it.
17. Select the first javaw.exe in the list.
18. Click Add on the bottom of the window.
19. Click the Options button on the newly added option.
20. Set it to High performance on best GPU you have.
21. Repeat steps #10-20 until all the javaw.exe options are listed in the Graphics settings window.

(Mortemer) most OS have a system information menu. 1.18.2 should work even if you have the M1 mac wildcard. did you do the steps Yamza posted above?
