having some issues with making a server work, we have all the mods added onto the server but when we get on it its just vanilla

Make sure the server is starting with the modloader you need for the mods (forge or fabric) If your still having issues contact your hosts support. They should be able to help you better

Fabric = Fabric MC, this is another modloader, just called "Fabric".
CurseForge = A Website/App that has content for games.
Mods = Individual mod files.
Modpacks = Multiple mods put into the mods folder or downloaded from CurseForge.

I would like some help I can't figure out how to fix my problem. I can only play regular Minecraft. The modded one never launches.
Things I have tried
- Attempted to repair the profile
- Deleted the curseforge file
- Uninstalled and reinstalled java
- Uninstalled and reinstalled curse
- Turned off my firewall
- Rebooted between all of this.
It worked for one session yesterday. My new house is waiting for me to fill.

sooooooo this happensssss.I load Minecraft, I walk away for about 10-20 minutes waiting for it to load. (I'm using curse forge) I come back. and my screen has a square in the middle of the screen, like as if the screen burned. then I see that my one drive back and sync crashed and needed to quit. I can't click on anything except for closing Minecraft and yaaaaaa.... I restart the machine and the square is gone, and soooo here is my crash report and latest log....... please help me.....

Im having a problem with putting my modpack on my server... any ideas?
The export feature on cf is only used by the cf site or pack sharing manually. The zip doesnt actually contain any mods.

You appear to be running out of memory. Try allocating more than 500mb (but don't do more than about 3000mb or windows may have problems)

That doesn't change the fact it's just a nametag.
It's a mod that adds names to villagers or part of the mod that adds those entities. It's just a name, There's no "English" version to show.

for what it's worth - I've been using 1.16.5 packs (like my own) and the latest Forge version allows use of Java 16 - the latest 16.0.2 works if custom run that way (I do use adoptopenjdk/adoptium), and seems to work great (no random crashes)
The version of java mc ships with is ancient, and should really only be used if your computer needs it (old intel cpus). OpenJDK (or adoptium as its now called) often helps performance quite a bit

Hi, I know a lot of people don't want to provide support for Optifine but I wanted to know if it was possible to get help regarding the incompatibility of Immersive Engineering with shaders.
If it works without, it may be one of your mods that is cauing the issues. try a couple mods at a time testing inbetween till it crashes again

Did you test a coupld of your mods in the pack at a time and test between each new addition?
Try doing that. Make the new profile. Install a couple mods, boot the pack, the repeat. Dont add optifine as its known to break stuff

Hey, anyone good with modded servers? ... I may set up a 1.12.2 MC modded server self-hosted for a few friends and I to play, but few questions:
- How can I send the mods (prob ~100 total) to my friends? ... Maybe curseforge modpack "export profile" would work?
- How can I edit mod settings/config files and ensure it's also applied on friends side? ... several mods we have to adjust settings before starting a world for world gen/etc... would we do this before or after I send files to friends?
- Once sent, where do my friends save the mod files to? ... Ive seen vids show dif places like a temp folder, or app data, etc, idk..
i use the "export profile" it has worked all the times for me
also, you can export your config files with the "export profile" option, but be aware that some mods need to be configured server-side and some only need to be client-side
and your friends don't need to save the mod files manually, when creating a new custom profile in the curseforge app, they can import your file and a new profile will be created with all the mods you exported and the config file (if you selected it)

you can change and export the config of optifine and they can change their own config of that mod and it wont matter
i guess i could tell friends, only change normal settings, dont touch mod settings
but, if you change a botania setting or a recipe setting, it has to be in the server side config, it doesn't matter what config do you have in your minecraft

i don't think anything bad can happen if they change configs
server side just overwrites it, or rather it only reads from server side

to clarify, I'd have curseforge launcher, using hamachi for connection with friends, and DL'd and running forge server.
friends would be using curseforge launcher and hamachi also - but don't they have to DL the forge client also somewhere in this process? lol.. i think seeing so many yt vids I may be mixing up some of the steps.
but I think you're saying, if I send mods/configs to friends via curseforge, they dont need to manually save those files in the DL'd forge client folders?

sure, it depends in a lot of things how much they have to do, but if you want to work hard for it, you can make it so they only have to click 3 buttons
I'm having a problem, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask.
My friend and I are trying to launch a modpack (Creation 2.5) server, but the modpack doesn't seem to include any server files, despite it hinting towards multiplayer capabilities.
We managed to get a server up and running, but when we try to connect did we get the error message "Mismatched mod channel list"
Does anybody know what to do?

I used hamachi years ago with seemingly good results. the way i understand port forwarding, it really is not safe, and likely less safe than hamachi.

Think of it this way. pf opens 2 rules to your pc. Hamatchi opens them all.
Actually it's the reverse. Hamachi gives anyone connecting to you full access to your pc

Opening a port can still be dangerous, but by far less dangerous
Also a good way for packet sniffers (hackers) to get into your pc and access anything they wish
but ppl can scan to find open ports. with hamachi you can manually add/accept a friends connection and block all others

My friend downloaded the latest version of the modpack, unpacked the zip file, installed forge into the same folder as the modpack (made sure it was the right version as client), and tried connecting.
So the zip you get from the site actually contains 0 mods, Would need to copy the files from the client files
so you'd say same thing for stuff like radminVPN, ngrok, and all those other similar options to hamachi, to connect w friends - basically port forward is better than any of those options security-wise?

If you dont have control over what rules apply when opening up ports then yes. Portforwarding allows you that control. vpns can be finicky with servers as well

Anyone know of a good resource for a pc spec list for modded MC looking to upgrade but looking for ideas on new components. New to this discord did know if there was a FAQ section.
When you export a pack using the cf app it puts all the mods in a manifest file. When you download a pack off the cf site the CF app reads the manifest file and installs the mods.

anything better than you currently have will always be a boost. If you don't have 16G - 32G of ram those are also good options to upgrade.
i didnt see if u gave any info on mc version, modded or not etc, but u could start with allocating 4gb total to mc server, then work up from there by like 1-2gb at a time. modded mc needs more ram

I see. 2 questions:
1: Can we download the modpack through the CF app, copy the mods folder into the server folder, and not worry about client-only mods, or can they cause problems?
2: The server is being hosted on a remote PC which doesn't have the CF app. What would be the easiest way to use the manifest file?
you can't use the manifest file without a tool, just upload the pack you got from downloading it in the app.
Client side mods will crash on boot but are easy enough to spot in the logs. plus are rare.

Would need to read the licenses to see what matches your project and what your wanting. If you dont want anyone to copy, reupload, or what not then All Rights Reserved would be good for that

However, if we use curseforge launcher (I export my mods/configs via "export profile" and then they import it), does it already have the forge client/modloader integrated into it, so thats why we dont manually need to install the forge client?
For the server you isntall the Server version in the Forge isntaller.
For the client, if you export via the cf app, you cna either send the zip to your frineds to import into their cf apps OR you can upload it to the site and then can download it with the app,
go up few folders to draxiotara
and yes when they install it they will get the mods, modloader version, configs and anything else you select in the export

Yeah, your local lan IP should never change for your own PC. Only the public one will.

depends on ISP and your connection
some times daily, sometimes weekly, sometimes only when you lose connection and reconnect.
For whatever it's worth, my public facing IP seems to change roughly twice a year. I don't track it incredibly carefully, but I think I've seen it remain the same through ISP service interruptions and power outages. That's with Comcast/Xfinity and our own hardware, not rented stuff. I don't know all the specific factors that go into the equation, however.

you only have 2gb of ram/memory allocated. modded minecraft (especially 1.12.2) needs at least 4-ish minimum usually. you must not be using the curseforge launcher app since it's default in settings is 4gb

like PO3 didn’t require mod farms, you can make them but there’s also the hunting dimension. and so many other choices for things instead of being forced to do things one way

Basically the reason you cant upload the file is it is too big. Which leaves 2 options. You play the pack, get it to crash again and send the new file hopin git is smaller OR you uses a paste site or upload it to google drive and share it and send the file that way

Hey, if i want to put optifine (https://optifine.net/downloads) on my 1.12.2 server, I noticed in the DL list for "OptiFine HD U G5" it says "Forge #2847" ... so does it only work on this forge version?
I ask b/c I've already DL'd my server installer AND curseforge modpack (effectively client) setup as forge #2855 and set up parts of server.
If it must be 2847 for optifine to work, i guess i must start over >.>

Also as per optifine rules, your users are supposed to install optifine themselfs from the optifine site. Your not allowed to upload packs to cf with optifine installed
so only put optifine in client-side mods folder, not the server mods folder.

hey, don't know if this is where I ask for help with crashes, but when I try to start this modpack, it immediately crashes as soon as I attempt to open an world, I can expect it to be some sort of issue with my hardware not being sufficient to run the game, but I am truly unsure since the game refuses to give me a reason, the error given on the logs and crash reports doesn't strike me a clue, I doubt it's the modpack that is broken, since it's Valhesia III, most other modpacks can open just fine as I've tested, what should I do to get more insight on this?

So when I went here to get forge server installer https://files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/ i chose to get the #2847 file.

If you have 8gb total max you can try is 6gb allocated. Leaving 2gb for the rest of your pc

in other words, I doubt that is the correct location to install a mod on that aternos server. I'd expect aternos to have some kind of guide on how to add mods.
note: ive never used aternos, but i think its free, and ive heard some free hosts dont allow you to use mods - only vanilla mc servers, idk.
a mod is different from a resource pack. there is probably different location for doing that - i have no idea what the UI for aternos is like

So I am having a similar error as the one a couple posts up where the game (Pixelmon) crashes when trying to render something.
I know what caused it, so that's ok, however, any time I try to connect to the server, it autokicks me and crashes, since that item is still in my active inventory. Is there some way to force me (or anyone) to delete or drop their inventory when they're not logged on? Thanks
