Newer java versions are better than 8 but it's a use at your own risk, hope you can figure stuff out on your own deal.
Nobody should be recommending java versions to people without them understanding what they are doing as what everything supports is all over the dammed place.

CurseForge doesn't support changing the java version currently because of all the issues it caused when it got changed to allow that.

Minecraft ships with 8, thus the target everyone should be using is 8 unless you plan on dealing with the issues changing the version causes on your own.

But this issue you have has nothing to do with either of the java versions.

Mods are built for certain versions, only time you can get away with it is if there was only a small change in forge. ex: some 1.16.2/3/4 mods will work on 1.16.5

or 1.12.1 on 1.12.2,

Missing Java Fix!

Before you try to fix anything, make sure that minecraft is closed!
If minecraft is open then you will need to close it and try to launch again.

1. Click on the icon in the bottom left.
2. Click the Minecraft Tab.
3. Click Change next to the Minecraft Modding Folder Option.
4. Right click the folder named Install.
5. Select Open in new window.
6. Double click the minecraft.exe.
7. Close the Launcher once it's done loading.
8. Restart Overwolf & CurseForge or the computer.
9. Play game!

Upload to Curseforge - For Public Release to Everyone.

This options will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.

Hello. I can't no longer view my custom modpack profile for some reason. It says "Oops, something went wrong - Seems like Curseforge has crashed unexpectedly" and has two buttons: "Get Support" (directs to here) and "Relaunch App" which relaunches curseforge, but doesn't fix the problem. Has anyone encountered this problem before, or have any idea how to fix this?

The “view all” lists all files the author has ever uploaded for that project . Will just have bugged out . Try again later and it may be fixed . It’s a curseforge web issue but give it some time to fix

Something is in a state it shouldn't be in you can try turning on the deletion of erroring entities in the forge configs

You go to your config folder there should be a file called forge.cfg or forge-something.cfg or something like that and there's a line in there that should talk about removing erroring entities just put it to true

Which I would probably say you should reset your router and make sure when you are downloading the modpack next time that you are not running stuff in the background that will be using internet bandwidth . How to **manually** install a server - **On your own PC**
