backstory to problem:
I added a mod that increases Y level of the surface, called Infinity Caves. i tried to use MCAs to basically regen all loaded chunks. it turned out horrible, so i loaded the backup. my Xaero's map displayed that there was no surface, and only the underground below my house. i thought it was the map being bugged from MCAs, but, it is Infinity Caves, since the whole world is 100+ up now.
current problem:
i am surrounded by a giant wall. how would i regen/remake the world with same seed, but keep my house and progress? i spent a lot of time in this world, i dont want a restart

Hey, so a modpack I've been playing on updated, and removed Oh the Biomes We've Gone without noting anything about it in the changelog, and it broke a BUNCH of the terrain nearby my base. There's just layers of air there now. I re-added the mod and it didn't fix anything. Is there any way for me to get the terrain fixed or is it just permanantly busted now? Really upset that the pack creator didn't have the foresight to mention the removal of a mod that deals with terrain that heavily

LAN and Modded MC

Lan and Modded MC has never worked all that well, as Minecraft's LAN was really only built to support Vanilla. Modded introduces a lot more files that may need to be synced per player, this can be taxing on a lan connection, due to the host needing to work double time (or more depending on player count)

Easiest fix: make a local server and join it !mc-univ OR rent/find a server online to join.

I highly do not recommend hamachi, it is not a safe application. Since it is basically a "free" vpn, it doesnt just open the port needed for minecraft it opens your whole pc to whoever your with..

Not only that but its a 2 eay connection. Meaning if your friend has something infectious on their pc, and doesnt know it they can give it to you. Without you knowing.

Also if someone external manages to get in, they can use you to do whatever they want on not only your pc, but your network as well. All the logs will show is you logged in

I speak from experience here as well. I used to us hamachi, till someone used my pc to steal banking info from my dad. All the logs showed was my pc connected to his and looked at files. It took my isp a few days to realize that someone used hamachi as a gateway.

Better off using portforwarding where you have control over what doors you open to your network. Or playit.gg that is just for the needed ports and not opening your entire network to anyone with a computer

So the modpack works pretyt much perfectly, however every time I try to click on a recipe in JEI, to veiw it, the game whitescreen crashes, and I pretty much have to force terminate it. okkay so i need some help after some days of holding it off. i have this modpack where my primary focus is building stuff and etc, and i have a handful of mods i'd say.. but ive played with more on other modpacks and it this wasnt happening. everytime i open my inventory and try and type in an item or even sometimes it will randomly do it, it causes a massive lag spike and nearly crashes my game. I have spark installed and i tried to see if i can see what the issue is through using /sparkc profiler and it says that Embeddium is taking a lot off of the game. i uninstalled some mods previously that adds lots of mobs, and JEI to see if that was causing it and it wasnt. i even uninstalled several mods at once to see if that would fix it and it didnt. i do have a couple of furniture mods installed, one of which adds a LOT of items with seperate tabs (Decocraft), so could that be causing it? i've already built things using that mod so i would hate to get rid of it. i have 8gb allocated and i've allocated less or more and it didnt help whatsoever. i have also had this problem on another modpack with less mods, but i dont have it often and i would like to know if there is a specific mod that does often cause that

How to run a Spark profile

Spark is a helpful mod to help debug performance issues. Get it from here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/spark

To start a profiler run the command /spark profiler start in game. This may tell you that there is a profiler already running, you will need to stop that with /spark profiler stop before starting a new one.

Once the profiler has been running for a bit (10 seconds to a couple minutes) run /spark profiler stop and spark will give you a link in chat, have a look yourself or share here to find out what is causing peformance issues.

You can also run a client profile, for FPS issues, using the /sparkc commands instead of the /spark commands. The rest of the command is the same.

Hard to copy/paste on mobile atm. But if you open your spark link, click on the mods tab at the top. The first 5 listed mods when you scroll down a bit are all mcreator made.

Would try without those 1 at a time (from highest % to lowest) and test. See if it helps the weird behavior.

so i just made my modpack and it runs great but theres 6 major things that ive noticed after opening it
1 theres a super thick fog as you can see in the picture
2: for some reason this might just be in my head but the cows and pigs sound almost like the 1.12.2 versions again i might just be going crazy scratch that sounds in general like taking damage sound off
3: its earily quiet like super creapily quiet and i dont know why
4: i think theres a mod limiting or changing spawn rates but i dont remember adding one
5: i keep getting random freezes i am using shaders so that might be it but i usually dont freeze with shaders
6: i have no clue why but any mod thats supposed to save my inventory doesnt work such as corpse or gravestone my items just stay on the floor as if i died normally

I have no clue if theres a mod i added thats doing this without my knowledge but any and all help is appreciated

How to run a Spark profile

To start a profiler run the command /spark profiler start in game. This may tell you that there is a profiler already running, you will need to stop that with /spark profiler stop before starting a new one.

Once the profiler has been running for a bit (10 seconds to a couple minutes) run /spark profiler stop and spark will give you a link in chat, have a look yourself or share here to find out what is causing peformance issues.

You can also run a client profile, for FPS issues, using the /sparkc commands instead of the /spark commands. The rest of the command is the same.

I realized a couple weeks ago that some of the curse forge mod packs that I was using have not been working. And have been doing what the video shows. I have tried restarting, curse words, restarting my computer and even uninstall and reinstalling curse forge. This has not helped. I would very much like to play these mod packs again as I have very much enjoy them. Let me know if there are any solutions you know of.

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

  1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the zCFmenu in the top right of the app then select zCFplay Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
  2. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
  3. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
  4. Right click it and Open File Location
  5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
  6. Press zCFwindows and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
  7. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
  8. Click Browse
  9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
  10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
  11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
  12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
  13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

OptiFine is not recommended past 1.12.2. In fact it's starting to get old and pretty bad even in 1.12.2.

You need a version especially made to be compatible with Forge, and then you will need to assume that the mod is incompatible with a tier of every other mods. This is because OptiFine mess heavily in vanilla's code, the developer doesn't want to work to make it compatible with other mods, and the code source of OptiFine is not public making it very difficult for other developers to make their mods compatible with OptiFine.

Plus, every features from OptiFine have been remade by other mods in a way this is both more performant and more compatible. OptiFine is useless for years already and replaced by better alternatives

Removing mods in packs you didnt make is a really quick way to break them. You would need to talk to the FTB team about it as we dont onow how they made the pack work the way it does.

hey, so I'm self hosting a modded server, and when my friend joins the server he can't mine or interact with blocks. He's able to attack mobs and stuff no problem though. Even when OPed on the server it doesn't change it, but sometimes he's randomly able to. Spawn protection is off and no chunks are claimed yet. I did try that, but it didn't work. I'm able to break stuff just fine, but it seems to just happen randomly for anyone else. If you have a latest.log you would have a launcher_log as the launcher_log captures data before the latest.log even starts... Assuming you are using the Mojang launcher option in the CF app and not the CurseForge launcher

Hey, so I can't see rain for whatever reason in my modpack. It doesn't seem to be a shader issue, since I can't see it even without shaders on, and none of the culling/particle related mods I have on seem to change that, unless I'm missing one. Does anyone know what mod causes these mods to spawn? They spawn huge, with thousands of health, and are impossible to even get a hit on because when you do, you get buffed to oblivion. Theres this weird AOE thing going on too where mobs will explode and catch on fire. Luckily my pets are immortal. The newest thing is that it killed all my cows and the rest of the mobs around with arrows and lightning. Please help 🙁

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows
  1. Find your modding folder location - In the Curseforge app press the options button at the top zCFmenu , then press the modding folder zCFfolder .
  2. Saving folder location - In the now opened folder window > double mouse click to enter the 'Install' folder, and then the 'runtime' folder. At the top of the window, left mouse click the top location bar in the empty space to the right of any text. Press CTRL+C together to save this location.
  3. Open the graphics settings window - Use Windows search (hotkey zCFwindows) entering the text 'GPU' - and click on 'Graphics Settings'.
  4. Add Java executables - Click the 'Browse' button below the text 'Add an app'. In the folder window left mouse click the top location bar in the empty space to the right of any text. Press CTRL+V together to paste the folder location and then press enter. -- Each folder showing is a different java installation - double mouse click one of them > then the only folder showing in each new location > then the folder named 'bin'. Once inside 'bin' folder > left mouse click the file named exactly - javaw.exe - then click 'add' in the window.

Repeat step 4 for every java installation showing in the 'runtime' folder.

  1. Check options - For each of the newly added javaw.exe items - click on the item from the list and then the Options button. Check that either the only options are your graphics card, or that it's selected as the option to be used.

You might need to follow similar steps if you are using other launchers. Pretty much every launchers are having this issue because it's a problem with the vanilla game itself, it's normally not happening in the official launcher because the installation process of Mojang is most likely patching this issue
