Yes, just have to do it manually in the launchers jvm settings.

Currently you have only 2gb allocated, which is fine for vanilla, but mods needed a minimum of 4gb. Joining a server can also require a bit more processing power as well.

I don't recommend additional argument at all.
JVM arguments don't depend on how much RAM your computer have but how much RAM do you have allocated in your game, and currently your modpack is perfectly fine.

And there is better ways of optimization than custom JVM arguments

I really don't recommend to touch it if you don't know what you are doing

It's not a important thing to have at all. People who say that have no idea on how to optimize their game, and no idea that the argument can be counterproductive.

A common thing when using arguments as a last resort, is to test the real impact on the modpack you are playing with - Can boost the performance a bit, but also be completely useless or even show a negative impact

It's a good feature I would say, even if not everyone who have the same experience with the same amount of RAM. I've seen people playing a modpack with less than 6 giga of RAM, and other crashing due to RAM with over 12 giga allocated even after restarting their computer & reinstalling the modpack & closing every apps running in the background.

So it really depend of your computer, but in general this setting is a good indication of the amount of memory you need to run the modpack

i've seen a lot of people playing a massive modpack with that amount of ram or slightly higher and their system runs perfectly fine. while mine have around 66 mods and i keep struggling for some reason, maybe i don't have that much knowledge of how it works

Yes it's really a last resort. These arguments change how Java works/run in your modpack, and some mods can show issues with some of the arguments. Can even cause issues in your computer, which is what happened for you and didn't show in the spark profiler because it was directly due to Java

There is safer and better ways to optimize a modpack, and show better results at the same time. Also I've heard the safe and good arguments are really added or implemented by most some known performance mods you may use, but it's something to confirm

Recommendation for performance? Embeddium, ModernFix, and FerriteCore is always a very good start and should optimize the game in a global level.
Otherwise it depends on the problem or what you want to optimize - RAM management, FPS, rendering, others?

How to run a Spark profile

Spark is a helpful mod to help debug performance issues. Get it from here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/spark

To start a profiler run the command /spark profiler start in game. This may tell you that there is a profiler already running, you will need to stop that with /spark profiler stop before starting a new one.

Once the profiler has been running for a bit (10 seconds to a couple minutes) run /spark profiler stop and spark will give you a link in chat, have a look yourself or share here to find out what is causing peformance issues.

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
3. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

For various reasons - configuration (config) files in modded Minecraft profiles can sometimes become corrupted and must be removed for the profile to load correctly.

Options to remove corrupted config files:

• Read the log file and delete the file mentioned nearby to the Not enough data available message. Try to launch the profile again and repeat the process reading logs and deleting files until all have been found.

• Get the community created helper script from this Curseforge community github site and run it to scan for, and remove corrupted config files.

  • Place a copy of the script file in the profile folder you would like to repair. To find the profile folder - Enter the profile screen in the Curseforge app, go to options and then select open folder
  • Run the file which you have copied to the profile folder, wait for it to finish scanning - and confirm if you would like to remove what it found.
