So is 1.17 fabric mods supposed to appear on the app when put into a 1.17.1 fabric modpack? I installed them manually because it would not let me search them due to the version difference. This worked for forge 1.16 versions when they were different.

Child ids are basically ids that point to files. Each file has its own unique code.

The ID's are internal references for the mods so the site can do what it needs to for projects. The problem is there's something breaking the link to the ID and the file itself thus when it tries to fetch the file it fails.

CurseForge doesnt touch your original minecraft launcher, it uses its own version of it. So it wont change anything in that case. As for easy to use bit. Yes,

Forge = Minecraft Forge, This is a modloader often just called "Forge".
Fabric = Fabric MC, this is another modloader, just called "Fabric".
CurseForge = A Website/App that has content for games.
Mods = Individual mod files.
Modpacks = Multiple mods put into the mods folder or downloaded from CurseForge.
