Their blade does help with a sort of "serrated" effect, but I think it'd be more fun if you just gave them fantasy-based elements.

I mean, hell. The Levin Sword from Fire Emblem is pretty damn close to the design of one.
The Levin Sword is just a magic weapon that fires lightning magic, but also works as a stab-stick as per expected.
