To me, it just seems weird. Like, yeah-- if you mine ALL the Gravel in the world? You'll probably lack Flint, but that only really makes Arrows and Firestarters for the most part.
Arrows can be infinite via Villagers and Firestarters can be substituted for Fire Charges-- which are renewable.

There's no real good way to get Glass though from what I remember, even less Sand itself.

Ehhhh... more or less. Do keep in mind that even if you have mods, they're still useful.

As they can directly influence a lot of what mods do. For instance: Recipes, Drop Tables, Loot Tables, Structure Spawning in some cases, etc, etc.

Hell, you can do a lot of even more unexpected things. If a mod adds a form of "recipe" to the game? You can edit it to do whatever you want. Aether has a "block conversion" aspect that can be edited with Datapacks to make any block in that biome change to a different block.

That alone with Aether is REALLY handy for modpack authors. As you can effectively make certain biomes like Ice Spikes unable to sustain plants or biomes like Deep Dark burns out torches by magical means.

I've been really in the mood for servers that give players a truly unique subset of abilities. I think what Origins lacks is that you always see presets. It makes it too predictable and often unbalanced.

Most of them through Attribute modifiers whic... honestly? Far more versatile than you'd think. Especially with the right set of mods.

If you have Aquamirae? It's library mod "ObscureAPI" adds a lot of relatively unused Attributes. Some of which are kinda fun to play around with.
