Changing your Minecraft install path on the CurseForge App

1. Click the in the bottom left.
2. Select the Minecraft tab.
3. Click Change.
4. Select the location:

• Windows: Local Disk (C:) at the left side of the window. If you do not see it, click This PC first.)
• Mac: /Users/Shared/CurseForge, If it does not exist, make it.

• Select Minecraft from the list of games, then select the Advanced option.

As of the 11th of June, 2023, we have cleaned all infected files on the platform and have sealed the security breach to prevent similar files from being introduced again.

Do note that in reference to Bleeding Pipe - this isn’t malware, it’s an exploit of Java that in not based in the CurseForge platform.

This have always been pretty safe

The biggest leak was the fault of pretty much everyone at once in a very infortunate way. There is a step per step of what happened over 2 year ago:

1. Dozens of mod developers and modpack makers missed the fact that they was unknowningly implementing a malware in their projects.

2. This malware was new enough to bypass every both standard and specialized automatic antivirus/scans run by CurseForge and by these dozens of developers.

3. Some of the infected projects passed the automatic checks.

4. The infection have been immediately reported.

5. Within 24h, every infected projects have been removed and a tool specially made to remove the malware have been created.

If I remember correctly what I have been told. Someone pushed a malicious pull request into a library -> the author of this library did not noticed and accepted the pull request -> some mod developers trusting the library decided to use this compromised version -> chaos

Hey, I have a problem. I can’t progress in my MOD pack without brass, but I can’t get brass without going to the nether. I can’t go to nether without finding some stupid key and it’s not even tied to a mod. It’s tied to a JavaScript pack and I don’t See any support page for the mod pack
