It’s like if you were launching a big modpack with client side only mods, and client side only mods mean that you don’t need to install them on the server and as such you can join any server with them. By this concept server side mods mean they can just be installed on the server and you could join in vanilla if you wanted, and mods that ask for both need to be installed on both

Yeah like picture a client side mod as purely cosmetic. Only your game renders that stuff, everyone else doesn’t, and since it doesn’t impact gameplay, the game is still unaltered for everyone else, so you can join without others installing that mod

That’s why anticheats need to exist unfortunately. If to install cheats the server had to install them too, there’d be no cheaters lol (cheats work differently, i’m referring to common cheating like xray for example)

Yep! The mod alternative for plugins are server side mods

• Client side mods = Only for the client. No impact on the game.
• Server side mods = Only for the server. Can impact the game by manipulating vanilla mechanics according to the mods’ liking. But cannot add new content like new items or blocks for example, because those require the client to know those items exist.
• Server and Client side mods = Need to be installed on both to join, can modify anything and that’s why they’re required on both sides.

I would suggest that if you’re indecisive make a written list of every mod/plugin you need, then look if there are mods you like that covers all of them, and if there are plugins you like that cover all of them, if only one of the two options fulfills your needs, go with that one, if both do, choose your favorite option and if none do, there’s a few things you can do like requesting a mod commission (paying someone to make a special mod/plugin for you) in a server dedicated to Minecraft Mod development

Between ALL mods and plugins, well plugins are at a huge disadvantage. Plugins being server side only, they cannot add new content. They try to in tricky ways but it’s buggy and not the same. In order to add new content, items, blocks or anything you need to have a mod on your client and on the server you want to join. Which is why mods are so much used

Plugins also cannot be client side, like they only work on a server. So client side mods to customize your game also take the win here

There is not a lot of options in 1.21.8 as the version is new, FerriteCore and Embeddium are the only things you can use. Otherwise, that would be a unstable mod causing lag

I remember making a Discord bot in Java a few years ago. Some people liked the bot because with enough permission you could timeout someone with the same role - for example a moderator timing out another moderator.

How to add/remove mods in a modpack:

1. Click on the picture of the modpack.
2. Click the Add More Content button, IF this button is not there, see below before you continue.
3. Find the Mods, Resource Packs or Maps you wish to Install and click Install on them.
4. Wait for all the required mods to be downloaded.
5. Start the modpack.

How to Enable/Disable content management for modpacks:

1. Click on the picture of the modpack.
2. Click on the button next to the Play button.
3. Click on Profile Options.
4. Check the Allow content management for this profile option if you want to edit the content of the modpack, uncheck it to disable.

NOTE: The Allow content management for this profile option is what allows you to Delete, Disable, Update or Install any Mods, Resource Packs or Maps managed by CurseForge. It must be ON to modify any of them! (Currently)

Recommend using the add more content option in your custom pack instead of the browse tab. As it will auto sort by the modpacks mc version and modloader.

Browse filters by all mc versions/modloaders unless you use filters.
