How to get started with shaders

Playing with a shaders mod like Oculus, Iris, or others and want more flair to your world? Don’t know what shader to pick from or where to look? try looking on Shaderlabs or the shaders tab on the CurseForge site.

To get started using shaders:

1. Download the shader mod and its requirements for the mod loader you’re using and run the game at least once to generate the shaderpacks folder
2. Download the shader you want from either the CurseForge site or Shaderlabs (linked above)
3. In the CurseForge app, right-click the modpack profile icon OR click the button in the modpack profile
4. Click Open Folder
5. Open the shaderpacks folder and place the shader file you downloaded in there

What benefits does the cf launch have over others like prism?

CF would be considered 1st party, where prism is 3rd party. this just means that if there are any mod authors that have disabled 3rd party downloads for thier projects, you would either get a prompt to download the mods manually OR the app would do it for you (some 3rd party clients have this code)

The FTB app is one of a few special apps that are 2nd party, as they have an app thats built on the OW framework.

Prism is also a repackaged launcher, meaning it doesn’t use the official Minecraft launcher, CF is not a repackaged launcher

CF basically hands the launcher the mods and loader and says to load these

One thing that people never really realized about CF is it was originally built for WOW in 2006.

Meaning that when other games came about they were added onto a sight built for the wow framework. Now with that said, the site has also been passed around a lot.

When Twitch owned CF, their "fixes" were to just add some band-aid code or throw another server at it and pray it works.

So when OW bought it from Twitch, they were basically handed a pile of garbage held together by duct tape and band-aids...

Around the time Modrith was created CF was still in the process of fixing the 2006 mess they had bought, long story short, users didnt like how long it was taking and jumped ship.

lol. my last college term I had a project class for the Computer networking program I was in. We had to pick a target for the project. We decided to do a Minecraft gaming cafe.

So we had an mc server running off pterodactyl, a custom modpack, and an online world map via bluemap.

Now we also had to do all the other things involved in a network setup, dns servers, wac servers, user permisions per user pc. the works

1. Click the Icon for the modpack.
2. Click the button next to play.
3. Click Export.
4. Select the files that should be included.

:small_orange_diamond: Upload to Curseforge - For Public Release to Everyone

This option will make your pack public to EVERYONE, it comes with extra requirements and will take some effort to set up.

1. Go to create a new project
2. Fill out the information with a proper description of the pack. This should allow anyone to understand what the pack is.
3. Click the Icon for the modpack in the CurseForge app.
4. Click the button next to play.
5. Click Export.
6. Select the files that should be included.
7. Open your Project that you made on the CurseForge site and Upload the file you just made.
8. Wait for Moderation & Sync so it can show up in the client! (See !sync for limitations and !status to learn about the moderation process and how long it will take to approve/decline)

How to add/remove mods in a modpack:

1. Click on the picture of the modpack.
2. Click the Add More Content button, IF this button is not there, see below before you continue.
3. Find the Mods, Resource Packs or Maps you wish to Install and click Install on them.
4. Wait for all the required mods to be downloaded.
5. Start the modpack.

How to Enable/Disable content management for modpacks:

1. Click on the picture of the modpack.
2. Click on the button next to the Play button.
3. Click on Profile Options.
4. Check the Allow content management for this profile option if you want to edit the content of the modpack, uncheck it to disable.

NOTE: The Allow content management for this profile option is what allows you to Delete, Disable, Update or Install any Mods, Resource Packs or Maps managed by CurseForge. It must be ON to modify any of them! (Currently)

the hardware or PHYSICAL server wil determine if you can or not. your main limiting factor is going to be memory followed by the cpu. if we take into account a reasonable ram of 8gb of ram for each "server" youll 16gb minimum just for that but you also need to leave room for the os

if we say leave 4gb to the OS then youll need 20gb minimum

but it also depends on how many players you plan on having the number of mods on the modded server etc

it's not known to contain malware - but be aware their 'mod' is really a downloader... that downloads another downloader fro their own website, which then downloads the real software every time it launches from... wherever that downloader decides the day you use it. so take that as you will.
