How to install mods in the CurseForge app

Click + Create Custom Profile

Mods are for the Java edition of minecraft. Bedrock has addons.

Just need to log into the launcher the cf app opens with the microsoft account you used to buy the game. Then select java edition on the left side of the app (if its not there already) and hit play

#

Also please try to stick to 1 room when asking questions, saves from confusion if people try to ping you later after you got an answer...

How to install mods in the CurseForge app

Click + Create Custom Profile
Name it, select the required Minecraft version, select the modloader & modloader version (usually the highest number), click Create.
Click the profile icon.
Click Add More Content
Search and install the desired mods.
Start the game!

How to install mods that are not on the CurseForge app

Right click the profile picture or Open the profile and click the Icon next to the play button.
Click Open Folder.
Drag the mod(s) into the mods folder. (Note: Some mods will require others, to run. Make sure to read the instructions for the mod!)

Problem with using mods and plugins is they behave differently. Hybrid servers (modloader + plugin loader) tend to run into many confliction issues. So while it is possible most tend to try and avoid it as it comes with many headaches.

You will have a healthier server if you run a pure forge (or fabric) server with mods only, no plugins.

We arent just saying they are a pain to get you to use forge or fabric, I have run hybrids before. It took me forever just to get the server stable enough to handle 1 player online, let alone others. Way too many conflics in hybrid servers.

Unless you are adding 0 mods to the server, and its purely vanilla + plugins.

Optifine doesnt need forge or fabric to use it. The optifine jar you install is technically an installer and a mod.

on reddit : The primary reason Mod Menu is leaving CurseForge is because its inability to handle Minecraft versions well. It does not separate breaking versions like 1.19.4, 1.19.3, and 1.19.2 in the sidebar, collapsing all of them under "Minecraft 1.19", causing people to download the wrong versions.

3) Go to optifines web site
4) In the CF app, look at what mc version your using
5) On optifines site > go to downloads
6) go to the game version you are playing (From step 4)
7) Download the OF version you are playing

How to get started with shaders

Playing with a shaders mod like Oculus, Iris, or others and want more flair to your world? Don’t know what shader to pick from or where to look? try looking on Shaderlabs or the customization tab on the CurseForge site.

To get started using shaders:

Download the shader mod and its requirements for the mod loader you’re using and run the game at least once to generate the shaderpacks folder
Download the shader you want from either the CurseForge site or Shaderlabs (linked above)
In the CurseForge app, right-click the modpack profile icon OR click the button in the modpack profile
Click Open Folder
Open the shaderpacks folder and place the shader file you downloaded in there
Select the shader file in the in-game shaders menu and wait for it to load (if it needs to)
Play!

Keep wondering, how hard is it to make mods work with newer versions of Minecraft, I get that Minecraft can change some of it's internal methods, but would of thought it'd generally be avoiding massive changes themselves for their own compatability issues, also aren't fibre and forge made to act as some sort of API layer to reduce those issues too? Just wanting to play 1.19.4 with industrial craft and some others that don't appear to have been kept up to date

You gave half your ram to minecraft. leaving 16gb for the rest of your pc to use. But minecraft is a single cpu core game. So it will try to use all 16gb and shove it through 1 cpu core. MC also doesnt multi-thread all that well. So just eats up your processing time.
