Just to be as clear as I am able, your slug should not get taken so long as you have been active on your CF account within the last year. But some questionable things happened recently regarding slugs so I highly recommend you save the context of this conversation to protect yourself in the event something does happen without your approval.

just download the datapack from the website and then put it manually in your server world folder or in a global datapack loading mod such as open loader, kubejs, or paxi

i had this modpack which i made a few months ago, it got changes required but by that time i got busy so could not do much on it so just let it sit. It was supposed to be a small pack that added a handful of mods and the authors of the mods were added as contributors, as at the time the mod by this person was not on CF but on the CF approved list, but after letting it sit for some reason out of nowhere they were removed from the project and came to me to ask about it and also asked to start changing stuff like the description to get the project approved, i added them back as a minority shareholder with perms to edit description but then summary issue came up, from the beggining of readding this person i told them i would rather just let it sit, but they insisted on "maintaining history" even though they were changing a page for a modpack which was never made public and when i got another changes required on the same pack because of the summary, they came back and asked forsummary perms, i declined as the only reason i had added them in the 1st place was for the points and i wanted to for now keep the project on hold and then he started saying how he would take the slug and i decided to remove him from the project because his mod was back on cf and there was no reason to keep them there and i was afraid of them

I can't help but remark on the irony of people complaining about spam dms... And spamming this server because they didn't look up a few messages to discover that not only are they not alone, but the solution that was posted like 3-7 F*ing times...
Especially funny is that people saying "I'm going to leave" as if Discord gives servers any control over the content of DM's between two server members. It's kind of in their nature to be private, and it's not like this is an uncommon problem with public servers...
And dear Lord help me if I find out you actually reply to or acknowledge the bot directly (Even yelling at them is ill advised. Besides the fact they might take that as a successful engagement metric, it is simply not productive. As someone once wisely put it, "yelling at spambots is like yelling at shi* on my lawn[...] The real culprit is far away".) Simply Wikipedia:DenyRecognition (Google is your friend) and move on

ok, the question I have is why does curseforge delete the hole modpack when a persons computer disconnects from the internet except for the mod it currently downlding? The reason I am asking this is because I only have a 5MB download internet and it keeps cutting in a out.

It assumes what you downloaded is corrupt. there is no safety for the download. if your internet is too slow to download the pack in time then it's not going to install.

So, to make a modpack (you've basically already done that, since you created a profile, added mods to it and so on), you just need to figure out if you want to share it with your friends only, or publicly on CurseForge

I saw on the Trello roadmap that Minecraft support on Linux is at the bottom of the "future development" stack.

I feel like that is a shame, especially as there is no way to use Curseforge modpacks on Linux until then, as MultiMC was forced to withdraw support for your modpacks after you changed your TOS and created the API program

They dont share anything. they install the mods that allow 3rd party distribution, and then for those that dont they prompt you to manually install.

Mainfest.json file is what modpacks use to save their mods too. Apps like the cf app that can read theses files use them to install the mods for the pack. There should be no mods in the packs zip

After 1.12.2 happened the code changed significantly requiring pretty much total rewrites to go beyond. Back porting current mods back to 1.12.2 would be just as much of a pain.

Only adding one or two mods at a time and running a lot is the fastest way to develop a profile that works. If you still need help you will need to provide logs and post in #🧱︱mc-other-help

How to add/remove mods in a modpack.

Click on the picture of the modpack.
Click the Add More Content button, IF this button is not there, see below before continuing.
Find the Mods, Resource Packs or Maps you wish to Install and click Install on them.
Wait for all the required mods to be downloaded.
Start the modpack.

How to Enable/Disable content management for modpacks.

Click on the picture of the modpack.
Click on the button next to the Play button.
Click on Profile Options.
Check the Allow content management for this profile option if you want to edit the content of the modpack, uncheck it to disable.

NOTE: The Allow content management for this profile option is what allows you to Delete, Disable, Update or Install any Mods, Resource Packs or Maps managed by CurseForge. It must be on to modify any of them! (Currently)

ID say kinda a mix of both tbh. Adding a few mods at a time and testing the pack to make sure it boots / you can make a world. Till you have the mods you want.

Then start looking at configs an such. The "make sure it works before changing things" concept.

4-8gb is recommended for most packs. More then 10 is either mods doing something they shouldnt, or the user is running stupidly high end shadders...

Thats normal. Little bit goes to the boot process I think. Ram will fluctuate a little when allocated. But just keep in mind, your pc wont get that 5.6gb back until mc is closed.

No mods wouldnt get you errors 😉

Jokes aside. Mods arent technically guaranteed to work together. So errors can/will happen. The best way we find for those making packs is to go slow. Add 1-5 mods at a time then test the pack. Does it boot? Can you make a new world?
If both are yes add the next set of mods.
If no, remove what you added, test the pack again to see if it works again. Then add the mods back 1 at a time. Repeat till happy.

Pack making is all trial and error. There isn't really a correct way to guarantee 0 errors.

How to install mods in CurseForge App.

Click + Create Custom Profile
Name it, select the required Minecraft version, select the modloader & modloader version (usually the highest number), click Create.
Click the profile icon.
Click Add More Content
Search and install the desired mods.
Start the game!

How to install mods not on CurseForge.

Right click the profile picture or Open the profile and click the Icon next to the play button.
Click Open Folder.
