Well I personally was never into that because you have to really mess with the combination to find what works and doesn't crash, but it's not hard to add a mod.

Pretty much that. Adding a mod is simple. Debugging issues caused by adding mods is the hard part, and you won't get support from pack devs for doing that.
Generally it would be simpler to just make your own pack and learn how to do the things you want done.

You can already just dump a bunch of mods together and it will generally work. Or you just remove whatever issue mods arise. That's probably like an hour or two of effort. But selecting mods is not what makes a modpack good, it is configuring those mods to make a completely new experience. Not something that can be done with a ui.
If you want something to take all the effort out for you, select a pack someone else already put effort into.

Because of the modular nature of Minecraft modding, and the broad amount of what modders are allowed to affect and change, there will never be the slick integration that you want. Different modders create their own systems and libraries and overwrite key game things. Other games like WoW etc have a much more locked off cookie cutter system that makes their integration possible.

Proxy servers and forge have always been a little funky. Just with the whole plugins servers and forge dont always see eye to eye.
At one point I remember using bungee /waterfall
But ive heard of others like magma or infrared.

I am glad the rules finally got replaced. However, the new version is lacking a bit, specifically on clarity.
Form my personal experience with the clientele who join here, the most you can really expect them to read is what's directly next to the number in each point. They will usually fail to read anything past that point, and when pointing out to them they are breaking a rule they will both fail to understand why you are saying that to them and then proceed to arguing with you about it.
For example, if we now cite Rule 3 for people obnoxiously pinging, they will simply say "I wasnt spaming though!?!?!". And then we will need to copy/paste or screenshot the actual relevent information under rule 3.

Thanks Yamza, this is the version staff has worked on and decided was appropriate. It does have it's own advantages and disadvantages, but in relation to not reading what is under the rule title - I don't see the same people reading 13 separate rules either.
At any rate, we will have to wait and see what effect (if any) does this have on people's behaviour 🙂

It has come to our attention, that some users have been having issues with downloading addons/mods from CurseForge.
If you are affected by this, and get a message like "The handshake failed due to an unexpected packet format.", please read in this thread, for a temporary workaround.
You might need to contact your ISP about this, because it looks like they are blocking access to one of the CurseForge hosts.
This affects you, if your ISP recently has activated something called Valunet. You can also try disabling this, if possible.
