#Superhot radiators becoming bright enough to be seen on visfeed

Interesting. In that state it wouldn't be too shiny in the visible spectrum but it would be a freaking forest fire in the infrared. Even more so surrounded by all that ice. We could have a new type of recon drone with a wider spectrum camera that shows infrared light shifted into the red or yellow to make it visible.
This is a really good point lore wise, which I'm surprised I haven't already thought about. Ships are largely hard to find on visfeed unless they use their thrusters, but if you simply used an IR camera (which Enceladus would totally do) then you'd see every ship. Zero hiding
Explosions & maser should make a big flash on visfeed too. give us more visfeed! And let us record and rewind the visfeed! High astro skill makes flashes last longer let’s goooo
Well, visfeed is just a video sent by Enceladus - hence the delay - so I'm not sure representing astrogator skill there makes sense. Don't think we have masers in game, but I like the idea of representing reactors. They're not as bright as thrusters, but thrust is a pretty big gleam, so putting down a spark for it - or more light for an explosion - makes sense, I think.
Would a XASER be visible on visfeed? don't know much about them. I would assume no, as you can't SEE an Xray, but it would be another cool visfeed object, or even a physical object to be avoided (if the XASER can flash vaporize multiple roids at the same time, it's a big nope for your hull)
Lasers aren't visible, either, until they hit something. They do shine optical lasers, too, but they're just to illuminate the area as a warning, by the time they reach the rings they aren't damaging.
xaser is bright when it strikes
So we technically would be able to see the roids it's vaporizing light up brightly in the path the XASER takes on the visfeed
It's not the XASER you see, is what I meant, just the effect of the energy dumped into the ice.
That's what I mean. You can't directly see the beam, but you would be able to see where it's hitting on the visfeed.
We do not have masers.
Koder loked it
and concluded that the power output was too small to be useful.
However, if the tech actually manages to have some megawatt range output, they may be implemented.
Currently... it is in the watts range.
certainly doable https://git.kodera.pl/games/delta-v/-/issues/5823
The xaser warning light being visible on the feed would be very helpful i'd imagine. Should look different from drive flares so you can distinguish it as "Warning"
The optical lasers shone as warnings aren't very bright by the time they reach ice; they look more like spotlights with that range and attenuation. But, it's an E' feed, sent by E', it would be reasonable for them to actually mark the visfeed for insertions.
