one of the things I notice is that you need a arm to salvage pirates, making the arm kind of really valuable. So I was thinking, could there be a way to salvage pirate vessels without an arm. Story wise, the difference between a derelict and a pirate vessel without remass is there is crew that will fight back. And I am assuming that is why you cannot send your pilot to a disabled pirate vessels.

so, what if you have a soldier type crew member that you can send to subdue the pirate crew.

Maybe every time they are deployed they have to take a month off to recuperate and repair their armor, weapons, and equipment.

maybe you need to send an engineer to patch all the holes too.

While I approve of this, given I'm a salvage hog, I'm still wondering what one or so crew members as soldiers in industrial spacesuits will manage in a ship that isn't theirs.

I would suppose guns would be rated for space use in this case, given our normal guns would likely deafen everyone in a clunky space and would break very important pieces of tech used to maintain the precarious state of the ship.

Honestly though, as much as I approve, a ship is already a floating coffin-jail if its thrusters and engines are dead and the reactor didn't critically fail. I think that's why pirate ships don't fight back, like trying to EVA and board you.

I don't think the pirates can board you because a ship that still has thruster control is like boarding a bucking Bronco. although a ship that is rotating is slightly better.

as for subduing the pirates, I'd imagine it will go something like, " look buddy scum pall, you better lock yourselves inside that broom closet before my boss here puts a few coil rounds though that sad excuse you call your living quarters. then I'm going to have to hotwire what's left of your autopilot and I don't wanna do that, and I'm sure you don't want to know what vacuum smells like."

Plus, I'm sure you're ship carries enough replacement components to replace an autopilot and some other stuff... I hope. plus we knew that the ship was flying right up until it ran out of propellant.

and with all the bodies that have been spaced, I assume pirates are able to board and take over unsuspecting vessels. I assume we can hire people can do it too,
