2nd save, I astrogated to the claim beacon (I might have visited a Big Lidar Contact before that I don't remember), a derelict Cothon spawned in and I made my way to it. The EVA failed (reactor busted), so I turned on my ARM to grab it and moved to the OMS to turn off my front thrusters and prepare for astrogation back to Ency. Then I heard zapping and lost power. The Cothon seemed to have revived and was attacking me, I panicked and turned on my weapons and shot at it til it stopped moving and the IFF automactically set the derelict back to neutral.

(I also got a trojan warning after zipping up the log folder from Windows Defender please be careful)

It all happened very quick so I am not confident that I got the details of the event right

I think I might need a bit more info about this event.

Looking at your logs, you seemed to fail recovering ETH-3419 ; but I don't see a sign of hostile behaviour in its reaction logs

#

wait a minute
was that equipped with autonomous PDT?

#

you recoverid it with arm, right?

#

yes it was

#

this is intended behaviour - you were seen by the point defence system AI as doing hostile acts towards this ship and they figured out that you are threat to neutralize

So what happened was that the EVA recovery failed, but I gave it remass and booted it up, that turned on the ship and its MWGPD and the PD AI flagged me as hostile (while I was distracted in the OMS) and retaliated?

pretty much yes

#

then it slowly lost power

Wow, that's actually pretty neat and that I should pay more attention to salvaging derelicts

fun thing is that this is totally emergent

#

but it fits the lore perfectly; comes out of the fact that when you don't cheat on the simulations, the things that emerge are the things you want to emerge

Wait, how did the PDMWG's fire without a human pulling the trigger

spark dust
#

You're probably mistaking it with NDPT

#

MWGPD doesn't need anyone to pull the trigger

#

it's autonomous

A strange dichotomy but aight

Microwaves aren't considered weapons so it doesn't violate any laws I think
