#[0.609.2] seemingly permanent FPS drop after entering tuning menu
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I don't really see the degradation you are describing in the performance logs
Do I have correct logs for this?
Should be. It happens consistently so I can reproduce it later today.
chart above shows pretty consistent performance; this has lower resolution, it's picked once per second
ok some more info (finally tested this again)
the problem disappears after a ringdive. I'll record the whole thing happening with my phone so the recording does not impact the framerate.
first of all here another screenshot showing the FPS drop. it happens consistently and stays until I leave Enceladus.
not sure how much that helps. it seems discord is somehow cutting off part of the recording or part of what was shown on my phone's screen was not recorded. basically FPS drop by about 7 until I exit and enter Enceladus.
Great, but please post logs from that too; I need to see which values went up.
the profiler screenshot shows 4 key values in a reallly high resolution, but there is additional data I can use in the profiling logs
Oh right. Will do that later. Currently don’t have access to my PC.
I know this is a year old, but I've found this exact same thing happens to me. The FPS drop isn't just the tuning screen, for me it happens in just about every menu that renders the little ship simulation at the top. In all the other cases though, if I switch to a menu that doesn't have that (like the crew screen) then the FPS stabilizes. If I open the tuning screen, no matter what other screen I switch to the FPS impact remains. Watching gpu performance on my second screen is also consistent. Most of the station's menus only push the gpu to somewhere around 50% to 70%, but it goes to 100% at any of the screens that reduce my framerate, including the tuning menu, but that's the only one where gpu usage stays at 100% even after that screen is no longer being displayed
I'll post logs too, assuming all I need to do is open the game, switch between those menus a bit, then close the game and get the logs
Okay so here's what I did in the session before getting these logs:
-
Started game, went to crew/repair tabs that had no performance impact.
-
Went to equipment tab where I randomly selected a few things to make the simulation view switch around a bit. Actually found one thing I didn't expect, the framerate is totally fine while I have the microwave point defense selected, while every other equipment I selected did cause a noticeable performance drop. If this is likely to be important I could try making a list of which equipment does and does not appear to do this.
-
I switch to the repair/crew tabs, and the frames went back to normal like the first time.
-
Opened the tuning screen and scrolled down/up a bit with very low framerate.
-
Switched to crew/repair/etc tabs and the framerate did not improve.
-
Quit to desktop. If I re-open the game, the FPS is back to normal again.
let's see
seems like something might be afoot
yeah
@fast lotus I would, however, much prefer if new reports were published as separate posts. This is uncomfortable to work with. You can always cross-refernece issues you think related with links.
