Because I feel like someone would try that since these things are supposedly long range haulers and people would not want to be cramped in a tiny life pod
Given all the modifications that people make to Long haul trucks in the real world to make them more liveable
I have heard of people cramming a double bed into one of those trucks
Perhaps if it becomes possible for the Cockpit of a ship to be damaged once the full rework of the damage system is done then this variant could have the downside of being prone to damage to that system
Making it a rare sight in the rings
I think a more detrimental trade off would either be the removal of an equipment slot or the occupation of cargo space in some form. If you turn on manual control and start to get a feel for it then the disadvantage of this ship would be pretty short term compared to the advantages of bringing more crew.
or someone just added a small striped down space ship like a k37
like, ripped out the cockpit
I’m more inclined towards it making the ship more unwieldy to fly, more total mass and the RCS being slightly awkwardly aligned
That would make more sense and justify it being more unwieldy to fly
No matter how good you are at manual control that does not overcome the ship being heavier and having its thrusters being permanently misaligned
You would have to either over engine and or install a larger thrust array
Which has its drawbacks
Sure you can get used to it but you need to make the ships equipment ideal for the job and then deal with the downsides of having certain engines
i don't think it can be that much more unwieldy
it's super heavy already, especially after a long mining session
I don’t even really use it lol I have only ever seen my Boyfriend use it
(this can be used as a skin in game by the way)
