#ability to apologize after shooting non-hostiles

The write up of the weapon might be "lore" to the fact that its likely to malfunction but that isn't what the OP is asking about, where is the option to comm the other ship and make good by offering ore or credits in recompense rather than as the OP says, being forced to fight to the death?
if thats the case the subject of this thread is totally misleading
Agreed the title is saying something quite separate to the OP post. @craggy sparrow might want to edit the title for clarity.
true maybe what i truly want is a way to apologize
ability to apologize after shooting non-hostiles
I have hit hostiles with FF many times and never Angered them.
That depends on your current standing with them. If it's already brittle to begin with (because new save, for example), it's turning into the red very quickly.
Apologies aren't super effective after being shot.
The NPCs do forgive some amount of accidental fire by default - they don't start shooting back immediately.
I feel that is good enough.
Still, being able to apologize could add to immersion. This topic is tagged Immersion. 👍
Ah no, it's not tagged Immersion anymore. I swear it was.
That is why you Offer to Pay for Repairs/Reparations. If they Like you already or you have a Crew Member who knows someone on the Ship then they might not want as much/any.
I have to agree with Floof here - it should be possible to go 'oops, sorry, accidental discharge, whats your damages? Ill pay"
If you can't pay then your Fucked XD
Obviously, its not gonna help beyond a certain point, but it should extend further then the part where they just outright ignore it anyways, and if you do use this option, reputation shouldn't be impacted at all or only minimally. Hell, might even have a positive impact with some parties, cause you're showing them you're honest, stand by your mistakes and try to fix them
Some might demand more Money or Try and use it to extort you by threating to tell everyone back on the Enchilada that you attacked them
should go the other way too, on that note, where if someone accidentally hits you theyll offer to pay your damages sometimes, and you can name a price, or just tell them "dont worry weve got it covered", or potentially even deny it in a hostile fashion
Yep
this is honestly one of those features i didnt realize was missing till someone said it lol
Adds more depth and immersion and makes the world feel more deep
Hey it could be one of those features that is Backburner "Would be nice to have"
