Mechanic Brewery Season 6 Contest!

Hello, people, I’m dragonkid11 and I hereby announce a new contest to select various interesting homebrew frames for Season 6 of Mechanic Brewery after 3 years of hiatus!

Anyone can join, as long as you have an actual homebrew frame along with the doc to show off their capability, you can even nominate someone else homebrew content if you so choose to, and while an artwork is not necessary, this contest is dependent on popularity for the second stage so it’s recommended!

Obviously, you can only nominate one frame, please don't spam.

This nomination stage will last for one week, then the polling phase will begin right afterward on Google form for a week too, 12 contestants will be selected out of the pool, though more might get selected if the amount of participants gets big enough!

Remember to tag me if you are posting your nomination here, because otherwise I won't be able to find it all!

1. 1 homebrew Frame/Alt-frame nomination only!
2. Artwork is not necessary but very much recommended!
3. Google doc is recommended to show the capability of the frame, but again, other medias are acceptable as long as people can access them!

5. This first submission/nomination phase will last until 6th February 9 AM +8 GMT

It's a Size 1 HA design derived from the Iskander- but it's not an alt frame, it is its own fully-licensed frame; a potent anti-Hydra combat commander unit specialized in turning its Grenades and Mines into temporary drones akin to the Hydra's Orochi units.

The AKAB Godzilla, a melee controller-brawler that excels at dealing with evasive targets by twisting the mechanics on its head and forcing the target to roll a save using its Armor. And then it can make Armor go negative.

Behold, the HA Cochise! It's heavily inspired by how much fun I had playing a Raleigh with realspace breach. It's a setup striker included in a homebrew supplement I and @trail star have been working on for a while, so consider this a sneak-peek. The FU is the GWA's answer to artillery on a cramped tight station. Simply throw your weapons

@proven coral Here's my submission for the nominations, one of the four feature-complete frames I've made for the .LCP I've been developing in private for over a year, USB/UND Skunkworks.
The HORUS Jötunn (Controller/Defender) is what happens when you inject liturgicode into the HA Genghis' codebase and give it to revolutionaries on the Dawnline Shore with a penchant for burning down established hierarchies. It's a robust Size 2 frame with a strong "Fire and Ice" theme, with the unique ability to transfer heat to and from itself with adjacent characters via quantum tunneling. It's licensed gear is specialized towards controlling enemy movement and manipulating heat, Burn, and Overshield, and most of it's systems can be used flexibly as either defensive or offensive tools. Can't afford art yet, fluff is still a WIP.

The first chassis designed from the ground up to be a weapon of war by a civilian facing manufacturer pushed to desperate measures when system occupation is being threatened.

A size 2 frontline siege-breaker with bi-modal weaponry alongside extensive Reliable and Overwatch support, as well as just being a real anchor in the center of the field for the whole team.

This is the SYU Simo, an artillery license that likes to play at the edge of its range to achieve its strongest shots.
It's playstyle allows it to move around the battlefield with ease, affording it a more mobile, and dare I say more active, gameplay compared to traditional "snipers."

This is the Coyote, from @pure yarrow ‘s Field Guide to Umbra and designed by Satellite and myself. While I do a lot of LANCER writing and GMing, I had been far too intimidated by the mechanics to manage translating any of my thoughts around mech design into something tangible. (And still am really!)

Satellite listened to me talk about it, and said: "Let's make a mech together." And was incredibly patient as I battled my health to make this real. I brought it to more experienced friends in design to review it with fresh eyes. We chattered and reviewed notes, Sat made adjustments. We both playtested it and made more notes.

Playtesting something that I helped make was a surreal and wonderful experience, but especially with my friend at the helm making comments about it's behavior in real time, and was so incredibly validating.

The COYOTE is a Size 1 Ambusher, occupying a similar space as a Mourning Cloak--though it functions as a true guerilla specialist. Dipping in and out of Hidden in order to maximize the frame's various effects. The frame is still underdevelopment, but it is very fun and stands as a testament to a wonderful friendship, and holds a very special space in my heart.

Alas, there is not.
I was in the middle of revising the LCPs for it, the other mechs of the manufacturer and so on, but all the work is just gone now, as my laptop got stolen.

I never posted anything in its totality as I was waiting to release it all when my supplement was completed, which im now gonna have to start working on again from a 4 month old back up.

The clovis was the one that just happened to be the most complete of my mechs. Not the one I was hoping to showcase, but, it has the meme factor, is the most playtested and it turns lancer into Waterloo, so it works.

To keep it brief on e.y.e, they are a massive multi media conglomerate that got started as a publicly owned news outlet directly controlled by Unions government, think BBC in the UK.

However, with time, the corporation grew and grew, until the time of seccomm, where it pivoted to promoting political narratives and bias manipulation via various mediums of entertainment and advertising. It was hard to get dissenting opinions out to the public at large as the corporation had dominance over the avenues of distribution, forcing such things to be picked up by corporations with less reach, no state backing, etc.

When NHPs came to the fore, things got significantly worse once they were integrated into the production pipeline, as it could now produce much greater amounts of content, and perform live edits of broadcasts, tailoring aspects of whatever media people consumed down to the individual to ensure maximum bias influence.

In the modern day, thirdcomm spun it out into an independent venture, cut a lot of its funding, and crested legislation to prevent NHPs being used in such a manner. The goal was for the corporation to go back to being an unbiased source of news and entertainment that would help share the cultures of its various memberstates with the rest of union. This backfired; turns out when each member state is willing to pay for eye to produce media that helps promote the ideology and world view those in power want its citizens to possess, its far more profitable to be anything but unbiased.

They make mechs because its a form of merchandise and an extension of their IP. Anyone who buys a license signs away the rights to the events they are personally involved in, which will be used to make more content.

They fucking suck.

They also make metabots/custom robos/toy robots and host tiny robot combat tourneys.

So they dont suck too much.

Hi question about a potential frame for submission

A license that I would like to submit technically has three frames, but those three frames only have two small differences between each one (each one's third frame trait, and each one's integrated weapon) - and the ability to switch between them at the start of a scene. Mechanically, it being three different frames is one of the traits.

Would this be disqualifying for it?

This Defender/Striker is one of HORUS' first attempts at a Defender frame. With an array of close-quarters armaments, its main strength lies in its Core Power, which allows it to consume / slap together nonanimate matter (usually destroyed mechs) to increase its Size.
All numbers are subject to change; this is the first public showcase of the frame. HORUS Chimera will be in a homebrew supplement I'm developing, but that's beyond the scope of Mechanic Brewery.

The Crassus is a once Baronic luxury masterpiece, poached by HA shortly before the war and turned into mass produced frames.

Its an artillery/defender Gilgamesh variant which is built around long range defence at a cost.

It can project its armor onto an ally at a distance, at risk of being more vulnerable itself. It can also recycle its used munitions into defence as well as being able to brace for allies.

Artwise I'm using a retrograde kitbash by me as a placeholder. I've also thrown together a LCP but that may contain errors.

I am submitting the IPS-N Dampier for the nominations, a new frame of my own creation.

The IPS-N Dampier (Striker/Support) is a resilient close-range generalist frame; with traits, weapons and systems that focus on the Reliable Trait; as well as generating and sharing CP with its allies.

I know messing with CP has the potential to break the balance of the game, but it is a design concept I’d be interested to see explored more, and I hope that I’ve balanced the mechanics accordingly.

@proven coral my friend told me about this competition and convinced me to throw my hat into the ring. I had been working on a homebrew making mechs based on HoloEN (sup[er nerdy, I know, but in a world full of NHPs I find it hard to believe no one would try to make one that's also an anime girl) and I was further inspired by this art by @deevious_deevi on Twitter (specifically the one on the right for this mech).

This frame is made to play around Heat, wanting gain it in order to gain bonus Explosive damage on its attacks and for it's integrated mount to gain Burn damage when in the Danger Zone. The license includes a few different options to both gain and remove heat to help maintain the danger zone without risk of losing any Stress. It also has a few defensive systems to help allies stay in the fight and to allow it to swap between an offensive and defensive playstyle on the fly. And if things get too hairy, it does have a revival trait similar to lich (hard to name something Phoenix and not give it a revive) that will allow the mech and its pilot to come back and deal massive damage should it ever be destroyed.

A versatile Balanced/Artillery mech with pep in its step, its a skirmish loving point and aim mech that likes taking non-weapon actions and backing that up with skirmishes, can take 2 movement non-engagement step when it attacks, and has a lot of synergy with on-attack/hit/crit in its liscences.

The main star of the show of the RPC peppercorn, is its ability to at the start of the scene, switch between one of three frames, carrying over any damage or ability usages it has endured, to shift between controller, support, and defender frames.

Submitting someone else's frame, the IPS-N Basilica by @manic stag . with art by Illion Aelerion, a kind of silly Blackbeard Alt Frame based around flinging your pilot out of their cockpit and jockeying enemies, with traits to help is synergise with Sekhmet and a core power that improves jockeying. Yes it’s real, yes that’s supposed to be Heat 2 (Self) (thank you for pointing that out, I made the fix), and that is supposed to be self inflicting damage to yourself as a tradeoff to clear Heat. Is there a way I could word that better to make it clearer?

Been very distracted as of late, but after talking to players, looking at the clock and reviewing the 3 most highly related suggestions, I've decided to go with another kind of "Face Favorite" of my work, the SSC Grayling, (Which features extensive, but easy to understand useage of my Heavyweight mechanic.) as well as Lock on Synergy!

Spend your turns between offense, control, or even support i(f you want to do that for some reason,) and then firing off devastating shots with your main integrated weapon. A novel concept on conventional artillery frames. Enjoy all the long ranged weapons and unique synergy with Lock on for those who want to feel like a hunter, (or are curious about why there's so many mentions of advanced computer systems and legal disclaimers in this SSC product.)

Flies is a melee drone frame, thematically, the pilot is in a size half glorified-hardsuit not even really in a cockpit. A swarm of drones carries the tiny frame and swarms around their host. Because of this it has squad movement, fluffed as the drones pulling the pilot through any available gaps. Once it reaches its quarry, it locks them down, its botfly drone recycle the wreck, and the Flies move on.

The HA Chamber is a walking bomb containment chamber; a Striker/Defender using paracausal tech to draw nearby explosives to itself, safely (probably) neutralizing the detonation to protect its allies and devestate nearby enemies. Such dangerous tech doesn't come without it's downside, these explosions don't truly disappear after all. It requires a careful management to ensure you don't accidentally blow up your whole team along with the enemy. But utilized well, your mech can become a tactical nuke.

I'm not even going to get into this problem child of mine but I am speaking completely sincerely when I say I have accounted for and balanced every possible issue this statline could cause purely through the frame itself. A few of the 22 (more coming hehe) frames in the project ate far more reworks and tweaks than most needed. With the Solomon and Seimei probably accounting for half on their own because I am stubborn and wanted to make my art pieces darn it.

Plus I really didn't want to make Dragonkid possibly figure out how to even describe a possible play pattern for the Seimei as the frame itself is probably the least important part of the license.
