i wonder if gold mod "shards" could work, like if an ally gets a gold mod, you get a "fragment" of a mod

might have the same issue, but slowed down

also was thinking about pve and i wonder if i'd work to have like, pve datacards you can collect to eventually get a bot-only run, so you still have to engage with the regular modes to play it but no matter what eventually you can do a gold key run without worrying about losing everything to loud-ass alarm rush

Take bronze holotag and use voice

You'll get some toxic teammates occasionally but better to not say anything during the game and assume all gear you take is lost

It seems to want to do rank mm so expect to be with bronzes and silver players for a bit

But bronze is pretty easy to climb out of while silver takes awhile as people take in silver tags

Why does that make it take longer?

Honest truth is unless you can consistently 1v3 or are very adaptable, you'll probably run into a number of games that you lose.

Silver tags brought in by teammates increase the penalty for you when you lose

In traditional mmr systems, say Mobas or w/e, your rank usually will go up or down depending if you win or lose the match with adjustments usually based on the enemy players

Marathon it's based on the holotags primarily

Since they determine your rank point win/loss

That being said, it is an extraction shooter, and if you're skilled enough you can hit the loot value by yourself as long as you bring in a purple bag and loot effectively enough

And the reason I said the gear you bring in is lost is

1. Certain times like meds don't count
2. Items you bring in don't count

So you're incentivised to pickup a new gun if you aren't hitting the rank score as that's 2 slots you can decently get 1k each out of

I think if I bought 100 bronze tags and restocked them as I constantly played ranked I could probably reach pinnacle

I can't quite remember where the cutoff is for buying lower ranked tags

I will say the other thing is uhh

I actually earned like

90k Ranked Points from point refunds due to cheaters from when I finished my grind to gold to about 2 weeks ago

So bungie is actually ontop of cheater compensation when it comes to ranked

So if it happens not much to worry about

On the flipside, the best part about ranked is it's at least 9 runners to loot with gear ante, if your team does a lobby wipe you get so much loot

then you go perimeter, and sit in a corner for 5 minutes, and then do your best to go to a quiet exfil

ive done it both in solos and trios

oh also implants that increase your self repair speed

so you use meds way faster too

since the best way to rank up is to do 3 bronze holotags, hit the score, then gtfo and only fighting if absolutely necessary

-riding off a lot of justified skepticism from D2 fumbles (IIRC the big thing I heard from bungie in this server was D2 players did not have it easy?)
-aesthetic is very directed. Many people bounce off of it due to that alone

Like given all these factors, if you asked me, as person who's played many extraction shooters, I would assume Marathon would be doing at best maybe 8k a few months after launch

but when you barter for items and don't do upgrades, it can make doing upgrades longer depending on how the gear goes
