I would say there is already a character that swaps weapons a lot with Punisher but I think as the game goes on they will probably focus on just having a lot of characters in rather than strictly making them all super distinct from each other

The easymode to make rogue work is just to have her wear gloves, then give her a melee grab ult, that gives a ballanced amount of seconds of invaulnrability and ccing a target, then you pick a number of their abilities to get till you die and deal damage to em. Maybe you get everything, maybe just ult, maybe everything but ul

but as copying goes, thinking about it, it shouldnt be much harder for most abilities to copy someone but keep the model rather than model switch like loki

making it a grab ult seperates it enough from making it work in combat I think

Finally dipping my toes into DPS, how's Magik?

Also as a Loki main I am eating GOOD

Magik's shtick is that you Need to pick your targets and if you stop moving/swinging you will die

she rewards precise aggression and cutting down multiple weaker enemies bc when she comes up against slower, heavier hitters they can flatten her pretty quick

her teleports give I-frames, her uppercuts isolate characters and lead into good combos, you just Have to keep momentum, which isn't a playstyle exclusive to her, but she's in the unique position of being squishy, fairly hard-hitting and requiring commitment to her kills to survive

spidey and star-lord can dash in and out and do nasty hit-and-runs, but magik gets bonus health from successful hits iirc. so she hits better but runs slower and is still made of paper

... at least that's how i understand her.

she can be a very, very persistent pain in the ass, deceptively slippery, but anyone who catches her out of teleport had better be In Her Face, basically

take the assessment with a grain of salt, that's just how i've seen her used, and i'll cop to not quite getting the hang of her, but she can menace you if done properly. i've seen magik mvps before, it's absolutely possible to be That Guy

she can absolutely engage larger targets if they don't see her coming, but tbh any character will perform substantially better when their targets aren't paying attention to them

she can't get in and out quickly, and she isn't durable enough to go head-to-head with multiple people, so you perform best when you get a few cuts in the peripheries

magik has to combo damaging moves like the aoe whirls and the uppercuts and what have you. she's like tf2's ("default") demoknight if demoknight didn't snowball in power after a handful of kills and you had to work just as hard for each kill as the first one

probably a dubious analogy even if you get tf2, but that's about the best way i can put it

Especially as people will be spamming the two new characters whether or not they will be in any way decent at them

I've been just going for quickplay for that reason. Despite me desperately missing my hero bans

In my experience of a lot of MK games, he struggles a lot against direct duels against most people. This doesn't mean he's helpless, but if you get out of a fight going "god that was a struggle" then yeah, sounds about right. The main thing I've found about him is that you really do want to just avoid being seen for as long as possible, get behind the enemy if you can, or a weird angle, and just make people jump, because your rangs cause mass confusion. Another problem with MK is that if you hit a group they all know real quick because you're hitting all of them. So land an ankh, land your shots, then just pull back, because standing there as a big white blob is not going to help much. If anything with your travel time you could be gone before the last rangs hit, something I need to do more.

The problem is that if you land the ankh and then someone chases you down real quick, uh oh, you don't have many ways to defend yourself in that instance, because your aiming is going to be rougher than theirs, and your ankh is on cool down.

which is often the time I try to double jump out, then grapple into the floor or a wall and mostly try to throw people for a loop or confuse them... buuut more often than not I die.

thing is, this just means that MK becomes a character that is literally "get an advantage over the enemy, make sure they're not looking, hit them", which is the same for literally everyone. Jeff could do that. But MK does it really well and their clunky movement tools lets you get around for those weird angles.

Honestly if you're paying attention to a moon knight you'd already doing something they don't want you to do

Squirrel girl, Fox' main character, can hold her own pretty damn well in a straight on fight, even if she struggles with some things. She can be behind a tank firing into the enemy. MK can as well, specially with large tanks that act as an ankh for you, but the problem is that if people walk past your tank you struggle more than some supports do.
