ohhhhh oki
ah, I ruled that incorrectly during the oneshot then
Does the Ionized talent's level 2, Fission Cascade, allow for bonus damage (assuming it's energy) be changed to Burn? Since normally bonus damage can't be Burn, but there is the notable exception of Walking Armory.
Yup
it specifically says die so if a weapon has a dmg profile of 1d3+5 then it's only the 1d3 die and not +5 base dmg?
Minor question regarding Ionized:
How does it interact with AoE weapons
Correct
ahg oki
Normally I guess?? Rank 1 and 3 both only apply to individual attacks, but otherwise there aren't any weird interactions
I don't really understand the question tbh
they don't. they simply do not do.
no i mean like
im pretty sure there's a missing word in there somewhere
no, too much word actually
second "to" shouldnt be there
no, i actually dont know
Do not the character
yeah its missing "cause"
yep, just missing "cause"
as a general thing, if you think there's a typo in the LCP check the document, its more likely to be correct
okidoke
AHAMKARA
also uh, Izanami like, Izanagi?
im not very verse in Destiny lore tbh its cool to see them
Nah, that's not a destiny reference, twas just the name I wanted to use
aowhh oki
(that is an Ahamkara talking though, her name is Arestera)
wording could be better imo; someone could interpret it as anything moving beyond range 2 of it
"when a character moves out of range 2 of it" ?
Eh, that's pretty clunky tbh
I've gone over this a lot actually, there really aren't many options that are both perfectly clear and not awkward
and frankly the folks who look at that and decide it triggers off anyone moving outside of range 2 ever aren't the people I'm designing for
If I get a particularly good idea for an alternative I'll at least poke at it, but I'm not too pressed about it
You could say something like "whenever a hostile character within range 2 moves beyond/outside of that range..."
owh yea that's fine
uh
i found an exposing build and idk if its concerning enough
wait no
it isnt concerning that Banish works with Odysseus battlefield sabotage?
Intended actually
It's a fun combo you can already do with Osiris and Banish, and while it is good, Banish is already an incredibly reliable heatgunning tool on its own that it doesn't actually add that much power
It's a fun combo, but I would be pretty surprised if it was OP
i mean like, by just those two alone thats 8 heat; add onto open door thats another 2 heat plus whatever you could do
at LL6 you can give them 10 heat from a quick tech (with difficulty by its own tho) and if the enemy has the movement you can exposed them then make them walk into a 2d6 with DSAS
Osiris ironically is limited by the movement being limited to its first gate; you can just do this every round on Odysseus
okay but like
there's prerequisites to this which are like
hitting a tech attack, them failing a save, them having enough movement, them having enough heatcap thay 10 atresses them, and hoping they roll Exposed instead of just impaired
gets especially funny if you pair it with wisp systems. they get hit with all that shit and then they can potentially eat an Ephemera Drive forced teleport right into the waiting arms of your tomyris teammate
Here's the thing though, Banish is already 8 Heat on its own, and the alternative is so debilitating that more often than not NPCs are going to take that 8 Heat on their own
wohj that makes sense
never ran a game where a player was using Banish mhn
Hey folks, just want to give a quick update, life's been pretty hectic for me, which is why I haven't been running any playtests recently. I don't know when I'll be able to get around to that, but it will hopefully be Soon™
In the meantime though, I do have something cool to show off...
Cover art is by @bioluminosity on bluesky. They were lovely to work with on this, and it's so surreal seeing this start to actually come together
I don’t mean to be budging in but…
I generally think both of these core bonuses need to be toned back a notch
These are my suggestions
-IPS-N: the structure dice should always have a minimum of 1 dice rolled and the other ability’s could probably be it’s own core bonus
-SSC: change to 1/round all weapons on the mount this bonus is attached to may score a CRITICAL HIT on a 18+ instead of a 20+, any following attacks made with this weapon score a CRITICAL HIT normally.
I’ll have a look for any more blatantly overpowered stuff
Please don’t take this personally 🙏
I do want to ask, is this feedback based on playtesting?
Absolutely not
But I still think some of this goes too far
Sorry for stepping on toes
Alright, well I will take this into consideration, but I'm really only interested in feedback based on actual experience right now
Core bonuses shouldn’t be overpowered, they should be used for flavor
For instance a look at fomorian frame in ipsn
It increases your size by one
That’s it
Well that's actually not it, it also grants heavy frame
Oh does it? Sorry
And that's just generally not true at all, core bonuses are the primary source of direct power upgrades in this game
See things like Autostab, Opcal, Reinforced Frame, Open Door, Heatfall, SBD, etc
I will take your thoughts into consideration, but I'm not particularly interested in this type of ungrounded, unsolicited feedback
fucking DISCO
to offer our own ungrounded, unsolicited feedback, these seem pretty strong, but we wouldn't call them beyond the pale at all, at least without seeing them in action
we could see ourselves taking these, but we could still see ourselves taking other core bonuses which, y'know, seems like a good spot from a sightread
I doubt it since sampling comes from players
Lawd hesus Mikey
How did you come to name it Hardvac blues
Oh this all started out as just a few homebrew bits and bobs for a campaign I'm running of the same name
And the name just sorta stuck as I kept expanding the scope into a proper project
Very rad, thank you
hopping in over here cause i might have some questions in the coming days on some wording stuff
a while back, monthssss ago, i asked cheese if i could borrow some wording things in hardvac (the mark mechanic wording comes to mind), with credit and permission (which igot) so might have some for you!!
You don't need to credit me for basic wording stuff like that lol, but I'm happy to answer any questions you may have
well yeaaah, but i also wanna credit you since Grace (and now Io) kinda helped inspire the idea of how to implement the marks into place some, and i wanna point to inspirations that i think are cool game design 😁
hello may I please use this in my campaign
That's what it's here for
You don't need to ask permission for that lol
If you do end up using it I would appreciate any feedback you may have on the stuff you use, but no pressure lol
ok :]
Oh! Cheese made this!
Ive been reading bits and pieces of this yesterday and today, am considering throwing it ar my group or our next campaign.
it's real good

@restive wadi does the Odysseus have art concepts or sketches or anything yet?
nothing yet no
I have some very vague ideas for what I want it to look like, but thats about it

Im CURIOUS, if i may
is gonna be blue, and is gonna be a cyclops
...probably
all subject to change lol

Just wanna say that I read up the Mannerheim because my GF wanted an Ice/freezing mech. God, such a cool frame. Even I wanna try it, just a lot of variety in its systems. Makes it feel interesting rather than just systems that do an ice theme over and over.
hey wanted to pop in
i adore this supplement so much-- using it in my campaign rn, but i've noticed something
holy lord Daredevil instinct is really, REALLY good. Like, way more than most other options under its manufacturer. I'm not sure how you'd even balance it, given how much of its identity is ingrained in its functionality.
i do wanna give some positive feedback too though. The harvester is so awesome and my atlas player has been loving it. The unique talents have given my White Witch player a blast, and generally it's a super awesome supplement across the board. I'm a massive fan of the Dragonhunter on so, so many levels. Like if I weren't GMing i'd be playing that thing 24/7.
Anyway here's a build I made that exploits the actual living fresh fucking hell out of Shock-Absorbent Endoframe

when bracing it can get resistance to any one damage type, gain 7 overshield, move 6 tiles, get +1 difficulty to all attacks made against it until the end of its next turn, become invisible, fully heal, and if it structured from the damage it rolls custom paintjob to see if it even structured, then rolls 2 less structure damage dice
You can also do this at LL5 but lose out on the overshield and get movement or free lock-on if you just run Earheart instead
Heya! I really appreciate the feedback, but I figured I should say that that's actually basically the intended design paradigm for Daredevil
I'm obviously still open to changing it if it proves to be too strong
Really? As long as it's intended I don't mind, I just wanted you to be aware. My Viceroy, Harvester, and Dusk Wing are all running it 😭
But I made daredevil because I realized that like at least 90% of the time the SSC core bonuses offer basically nothing to my builds compared to other options, so I wanted to make something that could compete with the heavy hitter CBs of other manufacturers
Stuff like Heatfall and Reinforced Frame
Ahhhh, i see! It absolutely does compete with that
And like, its definitely good, but I don't think it's better than, say, autostab
My main comment then is i'm scared shitless of my dusk wing
we havent played with it yet, but they run centimane gunslinger-- and they'll be critting with... basically all of their nexus every turn? meaning they'll be laying out very, very frequent debuffs
Both in theory and what I've seen of its performance at the table
I understand the kneejerk reaction there, but even at max LL it's not increasing a dusk wing's crit rate above 50% without stacking accuracy on top
I would encourage you to actually play with that build and reassess after
That's fair, I'll come back when we've continued the campaign. Thanks for being here to talk though-- seriously easing my nerves
and god i just wanna stress i love the dragonhunter SO much it's so coooool
Of course! I'm happy to help! Please do report back with any more feedback you have btw, even/especially if that feedback is that it still feels too strong
I am still open to changing it if it needs it
also realized I forgor to ever respond to this, but I'm really glad you like it! Mannerheim was designed almost entirely bottom-up with a focus on trying to make sure it had a some diverse gameplans baked into its license that weren't all "heat-clear bot", so I'm really glad that seems to have come across
Eyup! Felt like every system was doing something just that bit different. Cryocannon looks so fun as someone who loves weapons that do some control at the side. But the ability to like, make ice cover? Trade an ally reactor stressing for them immobilizing? About the only "Yeah I expected this" was the ice grenades freezing enemies but because every other system does something a lil different it makes those grenades have a place
A GM of mine was doing a "I allow homebrew game" and I didn't really wanna bring homebrew then. Now I wish I had brought this ;-;
oh damn, rip lol
funnily enough Cryocannon is actually like, the one thing I designed flavor first in that license
everything else sorta grew from me wanting a heat-clear support mech, thinking "what if argonaut but for heat?" then "how do I flavor that? refrigerator."
like, even Shelter only exists bc the Extreme Heat environment totally breaks the core passive
Remote Purge Cycles exists because I needed the frame to have a proactive way to clear heat, and that in turn spawned the license's tech systems
Coldsnap and Flashfreeze both started as "how do I give the license heat-clear systems that are balanced? limited works, but uhh, how about conditions too"
and then those conditions spawned the control niche of the coldsnap and cryocannon as a different way to build off the ice theme
and then I had one slot left, so I slotted in glacier as a way to help encourage people to stay close to the mannerheim for the passive
basically everything grew naturally from that one design seed, and personally I think thats pretty cool
(sorry for the wall of text out of nowhere, but also not sorry lol, this is my thread I can yap if I want)
I really like remote purge as I don't see enough players target allies with friendly tech actions enough. Literally the only I've seen is the field approved modifications from Kidd, and it happened to me like...once? During Winter Scar. It's a good way to nudge people to actually do support tech actions
Yeah, really love flash freeze, because stressing is bad but I've seen immobilise mess up sitreps. I can see it being a genuine tradeoff
Nahhhh, I like hearing designers talk about the process, sincerely. Just super late to reply because I fell asleep rip
Definitely we keep Mannerheim as my first homebrew pick if I have the chance

My take on one. A tough Mannerheim with some bite in case it needs to contribute some damage, but has a lot of tools to do full support if the team's already covering that. Tho I can probably switch out autostab for superior by design for even more heatcap for my team to shove heat into
Really wanted to insert the cool grenades but the insta hard cover is too good to pass up
Joined, rejoined, whatever form of joined you may deem it, to say that this all is sick as hell, and I have yet to encounter a mech that is not incredibly cool.
i still have this lcp on the brain, which is a testament to how good it is. i love the hannibal. its role on a team is so fucking good. works amazingly with strong ranged teammates as a way to turn the battlefield into a shape you want, so much fun
the urge to make a heat-based invader ifrit and just
turn it all into burn
HOR_OS III, dimensional emblems, then like
push enemies through them, or pull them through them.
6 fucking burn
ive played a couple lancer games recently with no homebrew, and the game feels so empty without my beloved hardvac blues
hardvac blues is so gooooood
If you're already taking goblin 3, may I introduce you to Osiris + Viral Logic Suite?
Put banish on someone to deal up to 6 heat when they voluntarily move, then hit em with gate 1 to... encourage that movement
And if you're running Heliopause, you can do all of that in a single tech attack too
ohh that's fucking evil
yeah no that's like... i think 8-10 burn?not sure because im a little tired rn
8 burn if you stack it on one action with heliopause, 10 burn if not
and since you're controlling their movement, you can also run them into your magma spots, and potentially trigger overwatch for more burn and more magma spots
its really nasty lol
thats terrifying im in love
you could even run dimensional fragments with it. nothing's stopping you form just doing 10 billion burn
The one real downside besides the investment into doing it is that you need gate 1 to control their movement, so the full combo is realistically only 1/scene, 2/scene at most
got some good news folks! I am slowly but surely getting back into the swing of GMing, so playtest missions should be back up and running Soon™
I've also been collecting a good bit of feedback from other folks, and I've had the chance to participate in some playtesting games as a player, so the next balance update will probably be going live before that
also I've had a genius (or possible really stupid) build idea for one of my mechs that I need to share with folks, so its going here
Hive Drone spam Viola
if you're doing any playtest stuff please shoot me a message, i desperately need to play more lancer and i love hardvac blues
(at least for my playtests idk about cheeses lol)
I'll make a recruiting post and forward it here when I'm starting it up, and you are more than welcome to apply!
also got an idea to float by y'all
what would y'all think of me changing Standardized Construction (GMS Core Bonus that gives +2 RepCap) to this:
Standardized Construction (GMS)
You gain +1 Repair Cap and +2 SP
oh that'd be really, really good
more SP is something just about every mech wants
im not sure if it'd be overpowered, i'd run it by some other people, but it'd definitely be good

Hoping I got the right message to respond to, I think +2sp plus a little something more is pretty in line for a good GMS core bonus. And 1 repair cap is certainly more tame then what Suldan did, so I'd argue it might be a bit niche, which isnt bad, if you really want the system points then there they are.
