Details: This is a playtest for some of my homebrew NPCs and special house rules. Most of my houserules can be found here, but key highlights:

  • Overcharge lets you reroll an attack/check/save instead of take an extra action, and refreshes on a rest.
  • **Overkill **is now opt-in: Choose to reroll each 1 or don't!
  • **Brace **is 1/scene but now has no downside.
  • NPCs with Recharge abilities also take Self Heat from those abilities.
  • Overheating can inflict Overheated, which prevents use of self-heat abilities.
  • Structure Damage is replaced with picking between being Dazed or suffering System Trauma.
  • All mechs only have 1 Stress, become Exposed & Overheated upon reaching max heat cap, and take excess heat as irreducible Energy damage.
  • Lifting/Dragging rules are revamped to support Escort Objectives in a sensible way!

Other: I’m Valk! I’ve previously published a third-party module for Lancer. I like to keep my combats running quickly and fluidly. If you have any questions about the rules I plan to include, please ask!

Hey all! I'm blocktext, local homebrwer and lover of anything creative. I am pleased to announce that I will be (attempting) to host pick-up playtest games every Tuesday at <t:1744066800:T>!

What are the rules? Whos stuff will be tested? Well I'm glad you asked!

- First come first serve basis!

I will attempt to do sessions hosting modules in the order I'm given them! You can DM me to consult me about it on the same day and I'll do it! If its two small enough modules I'll run two in a day.

- no repeats! Be courteous!

Everyone wants to test their ideas, yes, but I will not host one persons Ideas two weeks in a row, even if they are different modules. So say "Mitch" approaches me with "Deathboomer," ill test it for that week, but i wont test out "Blossomhopper" for Mitch next week.

- Be patient, be civil

Not every idea is gonna be a hit. That's just a fact. But don't be an ass about it. That goes on both ends. If you don't like something, don't just blatantly insult it without giving any feedback, and if your thing gets criticized, don't be butthurt. It's as simple as that. If I see you engaging in unsportsmanly behavior during or after a session, you will be banned from all future games.

TL:DR Be nice to each other.

With that all out of the way, I look forward to sharing some brews with y'all on the battlefield!

Players: 4 to 5
LL: 5
Content: All released first party content + Homebrew (see below for details)

  • Note: This will not be so much as a balance check as it will be a first parsing of content: checking mechanics, interactions, wording, etc. It might be that on-the-spot rulings and/or adjustments are needed.
    Where: PNet voice chat + Foundry (flat (not iso) map for clarity)
    When: <t:1746462600:F> for about 4 hours. Two scenes, going as far as we can.

Further notes:

  • For builds and usage of core powers, please act and prepare as though you were embarking on a mission of 3 to 4 scenes.
  • Doing a 50/50 split of homebrew and first party content; both PC and NPC. If you wish to test a piece of kit, that's welcome, just keep in mind to not take exclusivily stuff from your homebrew - mix it up a bit.
  • Please run all homebrew by me. I don't expect anything outlandish to come from folks here, but I do intend on having fun and something that snaps the game in two is not my perogative.

If someone feels like joining and testing some of my PC brew, I'd appreciate it as well, though it's not neccessary to do so.

Looking to test my homebrew in the (hopefully) near future in a series of games, would like to know if anyone would:

  • be interested in GMing (I can do this myself, if need be, this would just push the playtest date a bit further)
  • Interested in playing the frames, if so, which.

I’ll be in HA Hangout for anyone interested.

The homebrew is an entire manufacturer which currently has 13 frames in various states of completion (11 of which are complete pending some finish touches), 4 fully completed licenses and some partially complete ones, and planned core bonuses

I am currently looking to see which frames people are interested in playtesting to focus on finishing those.

  • Overcharge lets you reroll an attack/check/save instead of take an extra action, and refreshes by spending a repair.
  • Aid allows an ally to split the action cost of Stabilize!
  • **Brace **is 1/scene but now has no downside.
  • NPCs with Recharge abilities also take Self Heat from those abilities.
  • Overheating can inflict Overheated, which prevents use of self-heat abilities.
  • Structure Damage is replaced with picking between being Dazed or suffering System Trauma.
  • All mechs only have 1 Stress, become Exposed & Overheated upon exceeding max heat cap, and take excess heat as irreducible Energy damage.
  • Lifting/Dragging rules are revamped to support Escort Objectives in a sensible way!

I have! 2 runs of it, adjustments have been made based on both playtests but I really need a wider range of data to get the balance right. I would need like, a bit of comprehensive feedback preferably from both Players and GMs, based on

Player Enjoyment and Ease to Understand the System

GM Ease of Balance and Ease of Running for players.

Although, Stress testing the system and trying to break it is also welcome so I know what can get out of hand incredibly easily.

Thoughts on a first Readthrough:
//UNWAVERING V5.7: pretty powerful, though not unreasonably so. I'd maybe add a heat cost?

Chariot Executioner Blade: 2d6+2 E is a lot for an AP weapon but again, not unreasonable

I really like the Chariot Bubble Grenade

I'd probably make empress Datascripture 3 SP or a full tech action, but it is really cool (just think of the combo potential with subdue (said in the voice of an 1880s victorian industrialist))

Hanged man photon dagger: again, AP usually comes with a damage penalty, especially on a first licence level. (also the assasinate bonus damage would inherit the AP)

I think the Hanged man Charged Garrote could be changed to inflict jammed rather than stun because jam stops them from communicating or raising alarms and I think that lends itself better to picking off lone targets, but that would make it worse in a straight fight so it'd make sense to keep it as stunned (also I guess you have the deffness quicktech from the same LL)

Hanged man System Breacher: no notes, it's great, I want one

the Hierophant Flash Nexus is cool and I like it

I'd probably make the hierophant Blur a fulltech actually no as I'm writing this I see it has limit 3 and I think that's a good decision

hierophant APOLLO-Class NHP: this might be intentional but the subalters don't have a listed moves peed. also I might make protect a bit faster and add "willing or down & out". I really like the idea that using all three of them on the same target adds additinal bonuses

hierophant Glory is cool and good, I like it

I might add "in sensors" or "in range 50"(like ssc monarch devine punnishment) to justice Retribution so you don't have interplanetary revenge

Justice Dyad Nexus: also cool and good.

all the justice LL3 stuff is really good I think

Magician frame is really cool, I like the doubles mechanics

Magician Project Duplicate, mine clearing and forcing enemys to waste shots is pretty cool
