Vindicta players are fiends for it, they're always shooting from some weird spot at a bizarre angle even when it doesn't seem to offer much of an advantage

including all of the items I really consider building on him
I only buy it for Rem lanes personally
I find it otherwise kinda unnecessary and a waste of an important slot
Its easy to sell for sure
But it helps you take the medium camps at 6
Easier to steal enemy camp, and shoving wave is always priority
As an 800 soul item I feel like it's kinda mandatory, since the investment is SO low
If you're slot locked you drop it later but I also think you're just as happy to drop mystic regen
I would prefer to keep mystic regen just because it’s upgrades more smoothly
I do not particularly enjoy cultist sacrifice
I like playing pure spirit Victor most of the time
I’m including it and kinetic dash just in case the enemy comp itemizes hard against spirit

Selling an 800 soul item to free up a slot late game for your cooldown or spirit res or whatever is no big deal, especially if it's given you its value and run its course
But Monster Rounds, for example, is 20% more damage to creeps and objectives on all damage sources, including aura and torment pulse

But like 8 minutes killing the hard camp near the right side lane with three big creeps is pretty good

But that camp you can hit all three creeps with heavy melees by standing in the middle creep and aiming above it and slightly to right of its center
So you just spend like 30 seconds punching it with a jumpstart here and there and it's 700 souls

I don't know how doable it is that early without the MR damage resistance but it's definitely gonna hurt more

So it's a significant chunk of net worth
Plus you can take the medium camp near lane easier at 6 minutes, especially if you're in the right lane and can do the church camp with one medium creep and four small creeps
Gun the medium creep and aura the rest, maybe a little cleanup on the small creeps once medium creep dies
kinetic dash isnt going to help him that much, the item that gives 100% ammo when you use a ability would come more in hand

also while mystic regen is nice it wont be able to keep up the self damage
Yah kinetic dash is mostly there in case I want extra gun damage and a cheaper stamina upgrade
Victors gun is good and it's definitely noticeable for farming
Though I normally build stamina mastery to stick to people
there is allredy enduring speed and stamina mastery in the build
Plus dash jumping is one of the better ways to move anyway, so getting bonus on something you're already doing is nice
The essentials are what I usually buy but if I buy one of the optional that fulfills the same niche I don’t buy them
quick silver reload and merculiar magnum would be nicer than k dash if your going after the gun

And pain battery is not up enough early to consistently make use of quick silver

Victors gun is like the sixth highest dps in the game, and the 4.8k weapon investment spike is a noticeable chunk of damage
when you have one point in your ult and use it, you get extra spirit damage on your gun
Yeah I've been toying with berserker but if you're committing to a gun victor with berserker and qsr you're probably not going for an aura build like that
I actually don’t upgrade ult until everything else is upgraded
Kdash cultist sac is bought to farm that much faster, between 4.8k weapon invest and the cultist active and kdash being kdash

If you're going gun build I think you're right and you dip into the ulti sooner
Generally I rush 1, and then evenly upgrade 2 and 3, and max 2 if there’s a lot of CC on the enemy team and 3 if there’s not
all items bought in my build increases its to 11 damage, gun does 26, and i dont have any boons
i do a little 2 for the extra move, heal and cooldown, get 1 in ult then rush 1
then finish 2 and then do 3
i have a pain battery build of course
so order depends on focus

so the 70% gun damage is less on paper
Also, blood tribute would make you stronger while your ult is on cooldown
due to how it is "per bullet" the spirit damage
also the main issue of victor always being "be near the enemy", the speed genuinely helps a fair bit

the problem im having with melee viscous is that the items that feel good dont come online until i max 3, and maxing 3 makes me much weaker in lane

extra charge feels necessary but bad because the spirit power doesnt do anything
(rapid recharge just feels great)

Anyone have advice for playing from behind? I feel like a lot of guides are like "buy these items and then roam around ganking lone enemy players or joining fights in other lanes", but that doesn't work if the team is consistently losing 3v2s at 10 minutes
I'm currently playing a lot of Vyper and Wraith and I'm looking at picking up Vindicta
you could buy spirit strike
spirit snatch lets you play his 1 at the same time as his 3
okay so if you're losing 3v2s at 10 minutes that's a rough one because of the lead your enemy has but the answers to "how to play from behind" are roughly
- play like a pack of rats. force the enemy to take engagements instead of letting them pick. push multiple lanes, threaten different objectives simultaneously so they have to choose where to fight, hit the bricks before a fight starts so they waste their time. run the urn while hitting 2 walkers at once and they'll have to choose one objective to cede even if they're ahead, while you're kind of at your leisure to disengage the fights that you won't win
- identify the problem players and counter the shit out of them, even if countering them becomes "infernus is here everyone leave" because you just cannot handle the bad fire guy right now
- if the enemy starts forcing engagements like driving a massive 6-man push up blue to force you to fight, leave some defenders on the objective and then counterpush on the other lanes. you might not be able to stop them from killing your objective in this scenario, especially if they're ahead, but the idea is to make them bleed for it, because deathballing and perma-teamfighting already hurts their econ and you can exploit that to make up the gap while delaying, rather than trying to stand and defend against a push you just aren't going to beat
- look for smaller opportunities than kills, like who's got scary ults up and who doesn't. you can win a teamfight against a superior enemy when you have all your ults up and they don't
oh and
- 2 players who are behind can kill 4 who are ahead when they're defending their walker, I've seen it happen
guardians won't kill you (unless you engineer the situation) and bee gees are pretty ineffectual at the stage of the game where you're pushing them, but walkers are surprisingly murderous
it's always weird to me how ineffectual the base guardians mostly are
base guardians feel like they need some kind of glowup lol, they ain't be doing shit
voted "most likely to get killed by Rem troopers"

I mean just as a general rule the less coordinated your team is the less you can recover from mistakes because the more likely your team is to wander off and get killed, increasing your opponents' lead
You don't even need rem troopers just regular ones
yeah but the objective that's the most likely to get killed by troopers is the rare minute 20 guardian
But yeah, I played rem for the first time recently and pushed bgs and shrine without issues despite literally being in the middle of a base Defense cause troopers are them
Also if you try and split lanes while behind some guys may leave the team fight for picks which lets your allies win
two people splitting from a teamfight on mid to go kill one person pushing walker and causing the teamfight to fizzle is a W
If the team is better than you with a better comp and up souls and in a big push on blue you will not win by playing fair you will win by killing yourself in the sidelane so mina and lash get hungry for a kill and leave their allies behind to get hit by an ult that kills one person and turns an unfair 6v6 into an unfair 5v3
So, what I'm getting is, if everyone on the team is too busy whining about each other's kill/death ratios to actually coordinate or hear out a plan, it's a lost game
and sometimes if you're drifter or Calico you scale from doing this because you manage to kill mina

tbh it's even better if you push the sidelane but play like a feral cat and vanish the second the Goon Squad manifests

Walkers are worth 2000 gold to everyone who kills them and 2000 split amongst the team, iirc. Go push walkers go push walkers go push walkers go push walkers
then they wasted their time for nothing but a little bit of troopers
that guy is just showing up to team fights and getting last hits

This is absolutely true but sometimes they still get you
team fights are absolutely killflation but sometimes that is really good for you
I will say there's a converse here, which is that the guy who is 5/2/10 can also be Trophy Collector Bebop and that kill participation is going to turn him into a nightmare from Hell that completely fucks up the midgame
Sorry it's 1600 for the people who kill it and 2400 for everyone, so killing a walker is 2000 souls

there are a few characters that are Kill Die The Participation Guy who don't do a lot for the team except fight more, fight better, and win by picking fights
If you are ever alone and see a mid-late game drifter you probably should run
unless you are significantly up or the world's best tank or infernus, you will die
You will not have the time to pop an ability and run
You will not have the time to counter spell him
Disarming him will do very little
You will get hit by weighted shot burst fire and then die
I mean real shit you should leave before he nails you with Rend and silences you, because once you're silenced you're probably already dead in that scenario
and he will Live
and he will Scale
And then he just leaves before teammates can do Anything
Yeah there are several characters, like Drifter, Silver or Apollo, where my strategy is to start running if I see them on the minimap near me, and hope I have a CC ability that can slow them down fast enough for me to get to safety

the rem somehow got fed as fuck from this position and singlehandedly steamrolled us, while the geist ruined our prospective hypercarry's day the whole match

But drifter deadass deals about 3-5 hundred damage per shot in late
sometimes people will leave their lane to just one character who can mega giga push in order for them to get fat and round like a pancake off of solo farm

once drifter gets to +60 your hope is team fights or nothing
and plate armour and gambling
I've beaten snowballed Drifters before but you have to be really careful about pushing lanes basically all the time once Drifter starts picking up speed
truthfully the answer is Disarming Hex -> kill him before it wears off

I think the turrets do keep you safe, but only if your opponent doesn't have minions or enough players
Diving is very free relative to everything else I've played
they're definitely quite weak past 5-6 minutes

the guardians are decently effective at stopping 1.0 humans who don't know how to jump up and parry them
Drifter trying to solo dive past a bunch of enemy minions into a walker is still going to have a bad time, even if he could get away with it if he had a bunch of friendly minions

you can in fact just steal walkers with drifter if you're up and they're away

guardians mostly do their job of preventing wackass early game Apollo stomp and they give you a hardpoint to defend off of in lane which you can often use as a wedge to push back from when you're getting swamped
If you can spot early and escape you will be fine
Drifter is Xv1 king if you are anything other than alone he's just like, a normal guy you can beat up
but once you're caught it is uhm yeah
also as discussed, they are secretly a weapon that you murder people with

the problem with Shiv and Mirage and like, MoKrill is that you want to interact with them less frankly
and they want to interact with YOU
with friends you can be safe
I mean generally I think for drifter it’s best to just shove and then leave lane for side objectives and souls around the map
But a big push with you only you and a wave can quickly just feed the duo you're pushing
He can’t get stacks if no one is around to kill
this actually makes us very happy

yeah I was gonna say the one thing about starving Drifter by leaving your lane is that he might just go looking for you
which can lead to a Not Fun Encounter
His aim is souls to pick burst fire and weighted shots and then he jumps you and gets the stack anyway
Well if he goes looking for you in a shoved lane he’s now missing minion souls that are dying. In this hypothetical you’re already back in lane to eat the next wave so you’re not down any lane souls
I have recovered up to around +30-+45 after finishing laning and early with +3-+6

idk like stay away from the cosmic veil if you're in sidelane probably
the thing is he doesn't really need to like. Look for you. If he's jungling after a wave and you're jungling after a wave you can very naturally encounter
it's perfectly possible to just never interact with Drifter or force him to take a huge chunk of damage every time he tries to poke you if you're just constantly on the ball about it
I mean so long as you stay in your side of the jungle he does have to look for you, even if he probably does know which camps you’d hit at whatever point in the game you’re in
Most of my early alley kills are ppl just grabbing boxes or a camp who then become a tasty snack
what you can't do is repeatedly tangle with him because he regenerates faster than you and will win the Rend vs Stomp war
early you kind of have to stay with his range, sadly
interact with Drifter less
you can stay away but you're never truly free
like the other assholes who just sorta squat on your lane and make it suck to be there
laning against Shiv is fucking awful, you're always at low health because of knives and he can rip chunks out of you for trying to walk up and punish
Driftuh is usually at like 4 stamina, if you're within djump of enemy camps you're within range of a Driftuh gank
this applies to even the basic lane camp
I will say that like
I have and will likely continue to kill people in their 2 minute jungle camp because they treat it as safe and you can just Go Rend them and leave and then you get killed when it happens again
on the other hand I may just be an outlier
the number one Drifter screwup is jumping solo into what they think is gonna be easy damage
and getting caught out by the goonsquad

If Driftuh goes for a solo and sees two people then it's bad
But he is overall very aggressive and worth taking seriously is really my main point
despite low range he can close very quickly
without movement abilities or backup this can rapidly go poorly
honestly the worst part of laning against the Drifter is that he has increased base regen
that shit adds up
it's more that it is important to not underestimate his ability to patiently stack rend and bleed until you're not quite critical but within range of death from a confrontation
just fucking stay with your lane partner
the amount of times I've seen people split off to go jungle while their lane partner is actively fighting drifter makes me roll my eyes

Idk, just in my experience I’ve never found drifter particularly hard to beat in lane. Not anymore then the average close ranged gun character
That's because most drifters are truthfully not very good
we are not a bright species

because his thing isn't laning it's just fucking killing people
And that converts into lane with a friend
His obj damage is notably worse
A lot of his damage output is hero specific

they do but he can't get Bloodscent's damage bonus
they affect base weapon damage but not as much
it's a notable decrease

Buildings and camps also don't proc burst fire
Drifter is the rare gun carry with none objective damage potential
he don't got that
he can kill objectives just because of high damage but its not his speciality
and he will be slower at it than killing a hero
I will also say that forcing him to choose between Rending troopers to push the wave back or Rending enemy heroes means that if his lane partner has bad waveclear then there's a real weakness in the lane
What makes him fucking killing you bad for lane is that it means his partner now has much more space

This is a great anti drifter strategy
especially if you can slow his early soul intake
the other way to counter drifter is to blow his fucking head off if you have a longrange gun hero
ime drifter has a very consistent curve and plateau for soul usage
dicta, wraith, talon, haze, and ivy are all major concerns for Drifter because they constrain the area that you can play in lane and that makes his movement based, shortranged playstyle a lot riskier
Under 9-10k he is very limited in ability to just kill people, once he hits 25-30 approaching him solo becomes extremely deadly
From there he just does the same thing but better and faster
The good thing is that he tends to be down all game
fighting costs souls
that's a fucking tip in general, fighting in deadlock costs souls
the more your team does it the more souls you cede to the enemy team if you don't kill them in numbers
You can really slow him down too
But that is generally in a slow hell game

Oddly enough btw team fights can give him a lot of stacks
The range to be isolated is lower than you think, and his ult can convert everyone to isolated
the best way to deny Drifter stacks is to kill him first, he's generally not too tanky and you might as well get a major damage hero out of the way

He's pretty good! He does a lot of damage but not right away, so at lower levels it's hard to tell if you need to back off before it's too late
And his abilities are all pretty straightforward

Dispel is a good pickup into a lot of teams so sometimes you get to double up

infernus is very overtuned currently
he can just.. do everything
he has a built in stun, built in healing, built in dot, lane pushing, hero killing, soul generation, he just does it all
He definitely doesn't do it all, and he's not top 5 for pubs OR comp. (He is top 10 for pubs) He definitely has weaknesses but he shines where he's good

im sure he'll be fine with increased fine tuning and balancing
but infernus right now is just very strong in ways that are somewhat disproportionate
Infernus is very strong but I think that one of the skewing metrics for pub matches is that games go looooooooong
and Infernus is really good at snowballing right now, especially when he's up against opponents that don't consciously spot Faceless Void and go "we need to take measures against Faceless Void"
And pub matches folks peek a lot, and he punishes peeking too early really hard
i will definitely say my experience is based solely on public matches
people have been mad as fuck about FV and Phantom Lancer since they existed
because it's the exact same phenomenon
im very skewed towards pub matches
and i also have absolutely zero idea what the comp scene is like
so like idk maybe infernus is secretly balanced in the high tier games which i deifnitely am not playing in but my general experience is he just snowballs in a way that becomes very hard to do anything about at a pace which requires the coordination a public lobby lacks to counter

there's an asymmetrical amount of coordination required to stop Infernus from going apeshit vs Infernus just quietly sidelaning until he's a God
so if neither team is very coordinated he gets to smoke you
But in a good team, your side probably has something like that too
well sure but i never get to experience the joy of a coordinated 6 stack against another coordinated 6 stack
i have to suffer with a 4 stack or a 5 stack and the one guy whos doing a box run during base defense
