Her character does make her come off as a bit of a loser, rather than cool. She's got the personality of a mid-level boss you beat up as part of level progression but can never quite remember the name of.

There's something there you can work with in terms of writing, but I do think she benefits from adding to her.

Looking at the designs by Valve I'm more familiar with overall, I'd compare her to agi carries such as Kez in Dota 2, or Juggernaut if one wants to contrast Juggernaut Vs Sven as the prototypical agility Vs strength carry design in Dota.

Conversely looking at the various pieces of concept art available for her redesign, they do give her a bit more bulk through clothing (the nosering, maskless one especially), but overall her sword continues to dominate her silhouette. This conversely means we can look at how Valve designs not only swords but those who wield them in relation, which again Juggernaut vs. Sven becomes a decent example of (or Kez yet again).

Monstrous to me is more "physical body/shape language is clearly not-human" rather than having some affectations that aren't human. Victor feels less "monstrous" to me than Dynamo, simply because he has all the parts and the right material (and some extra). Dynamo however has a floating head and metal body.
Vyper is a snake with limbs, whilst Celeste is a horny human.

As a Calico fanatico, I gotta agree. Her gameplay loop is a bit too tight, even if its good. Having a secondary reason to go Meow Mode could be neat.
A leap when you enter it, some flicker of darkness (mini-Drifter ult) when you use it close to an enemy.

While they're decently strong as an attack, Gloom Bombs lack oomph.

I've played a little bit of Calico here and there

basically you're a Spirit burst assassin, your goal is to use cat to get places you have no business fucking with and rotate extremely quickly

if you're cooking as Calico you can push up a wave, dip with cat to hit another lane, kill someone and get your bounty cash and then leave before the enemy has a chance to push wave back to your guardian

cat's main usecase is "ah, there are people here, let me go elsewhere and turn their squishy into carbon dust"

your 2 is the backbone of your damage with your 1 working as either a kill secure or a way to splash damage on your enemy laners and soften them up before going in for the kill

in teamfights your job is to vanish and reappear where it makes the enemy team wish you weren't, preferably on top of a squishy backliner or someone who's trying to run

my temp solution is to play gun vic early then sell basically everything to cap green as early as I can

it helps because you can still bully your lane early but then mid through late game it's literally just a game of survival and feinting every fight

But the issue fundamentally is that he's a crazy good hero in pubs and low MMR and at high level when people know how to itemize against him or just pressure him, he's AWFUL
