Paradox's carbine is an initiate tool that lets you catch people with their pants down and then set up her kit on them, or stop enemies in their tracks if they're running you or an ally down, or prevent enemies from escaping teamfights

her grenade kinda does everything - it punishes grouping, clears waves, digs enemies out of cover positions and sets up brutal carbine > 5x headshot damage, and it absolutely demolishes buildings

her wall is interesting in that the threat of wall represents a lot of its power, no one wants to walk through a Paradox wall on purpose and even though it only slows projectiles down, that slowdown gives you a lot of leeway to dodge stuff you normally would get nailed by so using it to clog a chokepoint lets you control the flow of battle a lot both in lanes and in teamfights

plus it's great at stopping people from chasing you or from getting away from fights again, this time in the context of boxing people in and forcing them to choose between 10% of their HP or whatever Vyper's going to do to them if they don't run

but the real beauty of all of this stuff is that you have swap, and everything Paradox does interacts with the rest of her kit and with her ult beautifully

now that you can punish peoples' positioning and control the flow of battle with grenade and wall, you also have ult to force the problem and drag someone into a kill box

you can make them split by throwing a grenade into their group, then identify the weak link and swap them into your team while the enemy's pants are down scrambling from a big damage circle they know better than to sit in

Kinetic Carbine makes a running target a cinch to lock with your ult and drag into a deadly ambush

and then the most obvious self-interaction in her kit is throwing up a wall to swap someone through to silence them and yoink their HP with

Paradox's kit looks like goodstuff if you don't play her a lot, but the trick is that all her goodstuff plays into itself and reinforces her gimmick of being able to manipulate the positioning of heroes and the flow of movement in fights in order to turn fair fights into very unfair ones

doing The Paradox Combo right is a big part of doing paradox stuff but you also gotta remember that your kit isn't purely linear like that

sometimes you want to do shit like Kinetic Carbine a Lash who's flying into the fight and swap him into death, sometimes your team is trying to back out of a fight they can't win so you throw your shield and your grenade behind it to create a barricade and then swap the Haze who's flanked your team out of your backline and retreat

swaps can save your team's life just as effectively as they can kill an enemy carry

dragging the Drifter who's on your poor defenseless Paige into the light is still using your ult well

its uptime is also high enough you can and should just chuck it on vibes, without worrying about blowing it

Drag an ulting Infernus off your team, yoink the urn with ultimate style, use your Time Wall to intercept Celeste’s ult and give your team time to split up, Kinetic Carbine can stall ults that have to confirm targets like Lash or Rem and give your team the vital fraction of a second they need to escape, throw a Time Wall in front of ult Silver and dance back and forth until she dies from repeat procs, dump a pulse grenade in the enemy jungle camp while you’re pushed up and you can steal it while still focusing on poking them away

Nevertheless the core defining trait here is a strong counter-initiation tool for saving allies and/or resetting fights, so at a glance probably something close to Viscous.

Basically I like anything which makes a calculated risk a calculated loss for my opponents.
