It feels so good ye
also is geist the only character that uses mystic/radiant regeneration?
it's not used much other than on her
and on her still mostly just because it offsets the health costs for her abilities
Shiv (knives) and Apollo (all spirit)
What’s the distinction between radiant and spirit lifesteal anyways
Or rather whats the situational advantage
Lifesteal is % of damage you deal, radiant is burst heal + regen over time (sustain)
So I suppose the thing that makes radiant regen better for Geist is that you’re not planning to do more damage than you lose HP, so you just want the flat healing and the top-off ?
Radiant kinda just negates the cost of Geist abilities without even having to hit anyone
ye and beyond that you also really dont go any more spirit in geist from what I know
Oh it’s on cast
it's rushed relatively early in lane because that's when the health cost is the most significant
Splendid
you also sell it later on for better items once you have your leech and need slots
eventually you'll just get big enough that the health cost probably doesn't matter and you do just lifesteal it all back either via bullet or spirit or leech
but in the early game dealing 120 damage to yourself with abilities when you have 900 hp is brutal
this is a couple of games ago but
pictures that hurt you (40 minute game)
I keep having spirit wardens on my side
Why is Warden so utterly sauceless
warden is goated with the sauce
his model leaves much to be desired
but his voice lines are brain rewriting
warden as a character function and model is pretty much white bread and water with no ice
Mirage problem
but he just works
all I wish for warden
no mirage just has a bunch of abilities with zero cohesion
is for his ult not to have a 2 second windup
maybe I'm having another Paradox moment where a character looks sauceless in the lab but is cool in practice, but this guy throws a bottle at you and shoots you
warden clearly has an intended combo of 1 + 3
the sauce is entirely on his 3
You can bass boost 1 character
Who do you bass boost
I’m taking fire force “B R U H” explosion levels of bass boost
I need to play some warden again to get better at his early
he's just got a bunch of reasonably good abilities and then a good gun
he really is just John Shoto for deadlock
his 2 is a shield that is a shield and is a shield and his ult is an install that does... what exactly? he just becomes Better Warden
cut the ult windup in half pls valve
do not buff this chungus fucking ult ever again
yeah I mean
that is what the ability is balanced around
you can't just panic rip it
thats why it fucking kills you and your pals
I wanna see more Dragon Install characters
if you can't handle the windup you're just not ready to change the world.
maybe you should train your whole life for this
it is true
Yamato has one, but I wanna see someone whose like, “Riposte now triggers a Shiv 2” kinda install
also i had no idea you can early activate silver ult, speaking of install. you can just hit the button during the channel and it'll activate
like I know that he has an awesome voice, solid lines, etc. but his kit is absolutely bone dry
yeah pretty much
yeah thats super important
Wait seriously
yes?
you put them in the crane machine and then you hit them with the Death Sauce That Kills You
i just play him because he's extremely stable
during the channel period you can just do it instead of waiting for the whole meter
wait who doesnt insta press da button outside of lane
idk i think binding word and his ult are interesting
i can generally play him and carry without my teammates having any agency in ruining my life
it'll be interesting to see what binding word will end up actually being instead of a crane
bc it aint staying that
he has some flex slots for counterbuying so I can handle that on my own, his lane phase is quite stable into anything that isn't a giga monster universally, he has a gameplan that requires one neuron so I can focus on IGLing
I would play the fuck out of him if he had like, idk, anything other than what his 2 is
celeste gave warden depression
his 2 is an absolutely unreal ability
oh btw. does vyper slide fast Up stairs???
okay that's surreal what the fuck
wardenuinely his 2 + fleetfoot is this character's 7 minute powerspike
replace with surge of power as needed
okay it's DEFINITELY the sauceless visuals that are getting me
wardenuinely...
Yes
he becomes Mr. Run Ya Down
that's crazy lol i probably would have not died as much if i knew that
he does kind of fold defensively if you get counterpushed but his ability to just fucking kool-aid man at ya is ridiculous with stacked speedboosts
like i know she Can slide up. but i did not think it would speed her up
and his gun goes pew pew pew
Oh that’s what you mean
you want some kind of a fleetfoot effect so you can m1 at full speed but in conjunction with your choice of sop/burst fire/fleet etc
you go wooooosh
that fucking clunk clunk clunk ass gun dude
he got the doohickey
it looks like SHIIIIT
to this day I have no clue what the fuck it is meant to be
this man
does not sound like a fucking cop
he sounds like he should have a full beard.
Because he’s not
I know he isn't
I need his full alchemist gear
ok no yeah @astral lava she 100% gets faster or is equally fast when sliding
Abrams 2 electric bogalo
sure but you cannot say they lack sauce, his 3 and his ult in particular are great
Venator gets kinda close in terms of the grizzled acolyte vibe
mirage or warden?
alchemical flask
you gotta have alchemical flask and alchemical fire
btw how do you wanna build warden?
mirage
gun
for street brawl in particular
mf said 'how do you build this character when you have no control over items'
i mean its streetbrawl
yeah idk
the purple wardens are living in the past from what i am told
no advice is going to let you magically change the rng seed lol

shame
if you just get purple items it's not like it's helpful to say 'well you should have built gun stupid'
"what items are you looking for as Warden in Street Brawl" whatever you want to commit to but probably the orange ones
unironically btw
well then
I look forward to the warden visual change to make him less bulky maybe
so i no longer think
he is a million times more tanky then he actually is
he just kinda scales with pretty much any Good Item
i guess im building hybird
you put most of the imbues on his 1 cause 5s cd
leech good
lightning scroll is obnoxious on any character that can actually use it but warden is especially nasty
but that's kind of 'would you rather have 1$ or 2$' in terms of extremely obvious statements
sidenote holy shit I need to be more careful with fury trance. Like atleast 1 per game i accidently use it where it kills or almost kills me
the virgin fury trance vs the chad blood tribute
almost kills is fine
the children will learn to armlet toggle
so long as you don't die
true true
also pondering if i should try more drifter. All my drifter games thus far hhave been horrible (from me)
but one of those has the exodia sinclair
Tried Shiv out today
you can truly struggle on him sometimes but you need to be brave and kill everyone

Spent the first like 20 minutes of the game dying 12 times to a Yamato who ended up going 60k souls
i keep forgetting i have blood tribute at all even when i buy it on abrams. no idea if it gets used like armlet. do i use it to run around. when's the right time in fights. etc
Got some items, figured out how to move, and we ended up winning
he is fun to build
Like/dislike ratio as of 26/06/25: 22K/48
Continuing my journey learning Blender and DaVinci (more specifically Eevee rendering, dynamics/simulation and advanced compositing), and just playing around Deadlock's most recent models available (really loving them ♥).
Abrams' Rig available here: https://open3dlab.com/project/e2139eac-e7db-456f-94...
you toggle blood tribute as a boof bkb because of how it interacts with the snapshot of debuff duration and after you initiate a gank with some kind of disable
i love how warden's t3 shield goes from 125 -> 950
i have seem some extreme freaks toggle on when infernus is 90% of the way to applying afterburn, get burned, have the burn duration slashed by 40% due to blood tribute resist, then toggle it off
infernus more like infernus
in my time playing around with it on haze, you toggle it on after you sleep your target because of the extra movespeed + fire rate, and then toggle it off asap because your hp pool is just not big enough to sustain any kind of prolonged use
ok that is nasty
he's another I wish to be better at
it's sicko behaviour
toxic bullets proc breakpoint is about the same i believe
so you're getting massive stonks provided you can disengage afterwards and stop him re-building the stacks
yeah i feel like id love abrams for some reason
if not for the issue of me not liking him
You can kinda build whatever on warden and it should in general work
the spirit snatch
we cannot brush over carmen's statement about abrams
what do you have against hellboy smh
He's had it too good for too long
Boy should know at least a day of hardship
i just dont like it in practice
same
I just don't have whatever gamer gene lets lystic or iphonz abduct people 300km away and topfrag
i just end up doing no damage and serving as my team's 0 soul unstoppable
I feel like who you choose to abduct is a big part no
more than just not deciding you want to introduce all your friends to fucking Victor
(real thing I've seen a Bebop do, thanks Bebop)
you gotta smell who's gonna fold under pressure
I recently had an enemy Sinclair copy Dynamo's ult while I was playing Victor and use it way too close to me
Got me cackling
lmao
yeah cmon everyone give the dead guy whose aura is so rancid it kills you a hug
Alternatively, you simply acquire enough stacks to outpace the bomb nerfs.
I love hellboy, I hate statements that are like "I'd believe x if I didn't believe th opposite"
would you rather have 1 soul or 2 souls
Beyond two, perhaps
dont you dare
tbf, if you're gonna copy any ult, getting top 1 ult in the game is a good choice
oh ye sry. This was in response to carmen not you! (or i missunderstood further)
Especially considering Sinclair can jumpscare the shit out of you with his assistant swap
Blink Dagger, my beloved…
so much the posterboy for the game is just hellboy and also he's always one of the best
I am still thinking about the sinclair that slaughtered me
and then they're like "let's make the most common non-human group of people in the game be like hellboy"
nothing ever happens, the early 2000s never ended
And then they added like, beginning of series Vegeta but he’s Hellboy too
interesting that 2/3 ixians we've got in the game don't show any fire powers, despite that being well associated with ixians
Apollo’s kind of a Vegeta
Apollo is a upper class 17 year old who has been too successful for his own good
Arrogant fighty prince boy who thinks he really was just born cooler than you so stop fighting back
i do think hellboy is just the clearest touchstone for the games visual aesthetic
this is why his lab partner is some goth chick with a hand that talks to her
absolutely
u would not get the osic w/o the bprd etc
tho i should actually pick up hellboy sometime lmao
I also think Blood Blockade Battlefront with Hell Salem is basically the cursed apply nyc
I need the concept of a New York Municipal Coven member hero to return tbh
That’s a fucking based pitch
we have several sewerboys
Guy who’s been out there throwing down with the magic New York rats for so long that he’s legitimately as dangerous as a OSIC assassin
urban druid
They’re sewer occupants, we need a sewer maintainer
Guy who fights the sewer krakens
urban druid rat king
Kugrash..
You already know that the Cursed Apple straight up has a sewer kraken
Make that the midboss it would go crazy
well yeah, something had to show up to eat the alligators
You get it
I'm looking forward to our first merperson
I'm hoping for some elder god inspired type shit
excuse u but pocket is not a boy
mo & krill aren't a boy either, they're boys
pocket is tma
pocket is nyfb
Truth.
Wowzers, Seven's ball is bigger than I remember
If not for Pocket I would say another baller hero concept would be someone who’s just decked out to the nines in magic items
I guess there’s room for another one of those alongside Pocket
alternately: collective of sentient magic items working together
haunted Armor shooting metal gloves
haunted implies ghost, no no, I just want the armour to have come alive one day
Pocket isn't what I'd call "decked out with magical items" considering it's actually just the briefcase portal to the frog dimension
and the jacket
Not nearly enough drip
of course they have the dimension to the bisexual realm
is it weird that I have a preference for which team I'm on for no mechanical reason
i mean yeah between corpolady and im lowkey evil
Hidden king has the best music
This is just true
I have two specifics and it's: fighting for Archmother as Graves to hide Ults in those trucks HK base has
And fighting into HK with a seven defending is slightly more annoying because all the colors mesh together
that's ever more mechanical than I was going
I'm mostly embarassed to have multiple "oh there's a seven ult out here" surprises
do you think they'll do something like old gods for the next bunch of characters? I think it worked very well for them but it does require having a bunch of characters done at once
and if so do you think they'll share a theme this time
round 1 vyper lets fucking go
Brrrt
The slithering menace
I think I angered them (Im playing Apollo)
I played a little today and actually drifter is feeling really good?
the increase on isolation range is super nice
ran into the most absurdly misogynistic Holliday player ever
low ELO is a crazy place
What’d they do?
Oh that sucks
fuck that noise
1200 dps vyper
I once had a strange back-to-back of someone being transphobic to a friend (while rattling off every slur they could think of), then the next game we had a Lash roleplayer using voice to say trans-ally lines in-character.
Had the craziest Apollo game of my life
Got like 26 kills
Unfortunately my team’s Victor spent the entire game giving Drifter free isolated kills
And the entire teams sans Venator bought Slowing Hex (pictured here)
Why do I feel like Lash would be the type to be cheering on trans people while slinging the nastiest shit about bebop ever at the same time
Drifter supremacy
Oh yeah for street brawl they need to add “free sell” for items
Allow you to sell any items any time
There’s also a bug where the wheel doesn’t work sometimes
TRUTH
speaking of drifteri supremacy, I just won a drifter game. I wasn't rolling people, but I lost two fights to a billy and then farmed up to get Inhibitor and never lost to him again
It would be nice for items with downsides yah
fuck you, goat man, I will NOT fight fair, I WILL solo ult you and turn you into ground mutton
78% from sinners and statues lol
I have a conspiracy theory answer
to make him more appealing to more casual players who can really benefit from his capabilities but may otherwise not find that sort of zoomed out view playstyle attractive
youre fucked up in the head!
true but what for this time
To some extent I almost wonder if it'd been better if you were focusing on waves and I was jumping at their sinners every time they came up
But also I was very busy constantly fighting and that had its own value
yeah i can just do their sinners while just passing through
Honestly I think it’s because cute support characters tend to be quite popular
I think rem is best ignoring your own sinners and trying to steal the other teams
and it enables me to get some really high value support items
Idk if they changed anything but it feels like Victor comes online way earlier now
also probably true
Or maybe I'm just way better
i had divine barrier, curse, heal nova, refresher
Also yah, your team’s Carry’s really should have priority for your own sinners
Yeah true
Taking away the enemies though helps everyone
Nah I have the same thought
I think it’s because he doesn’t need spirit armor to use his 3 anymore
So you can actually focus on getting damage items
yeah i always encourage people to just
take the last hits and hit the sinners if i put a rem helper on them already
its easy to take the last hit from them since they do it really late
Yeah I was Victor, main issue was I was too far up to take our own a lot of the time, admittedly exacerbated by the team having an aggressive Haze, Silver and Mina
and im not thirsting for more permanent buffs
cause i also just throw helpers on crates/statues as im moving around the map
And I had very high uptime, so even if our picks had to take breaks individually...
also just in part because stealing opponent sinners is so good, so anyone who can do it should, and rem is good at it
yeah i always just go for their sinner house + side sinners at minute 8 right away lol
it lets me rush torment pulse and start working on healing buffs and healing nova
ideally yeah rem leaves the friendly side resources for teammates to take
in practice there's good odds they just don't go for it at all
Healing Nova's a very rare pick for me on rem. It has its use-case though. I think I'd prefer rescue beam more, but I rarely get that either vs other actives
yeah it's better for rem to take them than no one, not gonna dispute that
the real rem sauce is ECHO SHARD
ultimately as we get better at taking farm and dont leave stuff behind
i will move to taking more on the enemy side
but right now i just take whats there for a long while to rush high value stuff
having an early cursed relic is so nice
I think the reason Rem is a baby is because eventually in a moba you make a little critter
Its an inevitable thing
You make a guy with a hook and you make a creature
ivy is a creature
Thank you!
I need to play more fire rate and resist shred drifter, this spirit hybrid isn't feeding me enough dopamine
this is why deadlock fucks bc theres multiple creatures
and multiple guys with hooks
bebop is for hooks purists of course, but billy's ult is sorta hook
also lash
You go for Billy first and not Holiday?
really good celeste
display them in your museum
Fortitude feels so good on Drifter.
Just running from fight to fight being an absolute menace.
helps that lifestrike lets rend heal you up
so you can be above that threshold always
that's fair, sometimes the enemy is already building to deny heals so it's free to ignore lifestrike
melee lifesteal was taken but sold later
basically make them waste those souls
what if anti-anti heal
healing booster
true lol
too contrived
I will instead be building damage and mobility
while I'm happy with my two mains, I really want a third character I get excited by/vibe with to go with them
god her air movement is so different
It really is
Going between Apollo and Celeste the game gave me Seven instead and after like 30 games of just those two it felt like running around with cement shoes
If I see a Celeste doing that sort of stuff I just tell my team to not even bother chasing her. She can escape from every fight if she wants to, we're just gonna kill the rest of her team.
following up on her when you've knocked her back can be so awkward
doesn't help I play billy and drifter, so if she's backing up I'm not hitting her properly
Celeste is sort of like Apollo except I can actually carry a game by myself
i like venator trying to shoot you with the shotgun despite the fact that stun will categoricdally not work on you if you are at even marginally different heights
really what i'm getting from this clip is that we need to buff counterspell
no no if celeste is in the game all enemy players get a free flyswatter
like a baseline passive?
yeah
not tied to a stat the game lists in the lower left corner stats breakdown, or any one of the 4 abilities.
I can't remember if billy's faster light melee and it not interrupting his reload is marked anywhere
but it does fit the criteria you listed
he's also slowed less using light melee iirc
It's balanced that usually you only take 1 of em
Of course, then there's viktor but as a laner it's too much of a souls investment on barely 2k hp
im an apollo main
whose rn purple/green
and i get 3.5k hp or something
so that's tons of extra HP for me
yknow im talking to some apollo mains and they want apollo buffs
every player wants their main buffed
lots of it is simply "spirit resil deletes this twink"
Apollo mains learning how spirit works, get in line behind Lash
that's true of a fair few characters, and if you notice the opponent has built that way you usually pivot to more supporting items and playstyle
deadlock is very big on counterbuilding and varying style game to game
a lot of it is wanting his power to be better late game and not just early
alternately, if they're building spirit resil to handle you, that's resources not spent dealing with your other teammates, including your main carry
unsatisfied with lobster, they also want steak
too strong early, weak late game
I think that having lower power in the late game is an intentional design decision
that's basically valve going "no don't play this mobile twink as a carry"
ok yeah but seriously though, he does feel like he falls off harder than others in long games
true, and I think that's true of almost all the really mobile off-carrys
except celeste
Lack of cc and all that doesn't help but it's not like he becomes nothing just less 'my full combo simply kills you'
mmm
he's still mobile as anything
we're agreeing with you, i just feel no sympathy for the complaint
i guess its particularly hard when your 2000 damage combo suddenly drops to 1000
I think you focus less on mass damage and more on cleaning up kills late game
catching the people backing out of combat
i imagine people would want more CC and less raw damage in his kit
would probably clean stuff up
or more gun, possibly
strong cc in the early game is just as nasty as damage tbh, sometimes even moreso with how fragile characters are early
They should make his shoes even squeakier
"we want the aoe curse through walls character to have more cc" ok good night
isnt that rem
and taking some spirit for some gun can be rough, hybrid characters are on a bit of a backfoot
/hides drifter under a rug
tbf
( though he usually ends up like 80% gun )
he does have 2 T2 upgrades that are orange oriented
and his whole riposte kinda really gestures towards spirit snatch
drifter is mostly gun, at least how I build him
Spirit Drifter feels really hard to get off the ground to me
oh absolutely
Oh yea melee sustain and then just burst fire
It's mostly spirit snatch and maybe brs
considering most of your damage is coming off 1 and gun, and 1 scales off melee damage
not scales
is melee
don't lie to the people reggie
so i asked
basically, nerf base/lane, buff scaling, make ult ignore spirit resil to some extent
I also think, generally, they should let the new characters settle a little and get folks used to playing the characters and the meta around them fully before making more changes
i wonder if they'll remove celeste's 50% cd on miss
well that first change is like conceptual, doesn't actually say how they want that done
i do hope they adjust apollo though
id like to feel him out with different scalings and the like
I am shocked how much damage Mystic Burst + Sigil puts out
140 is hella value
I like where my boys are at atm, though billy is probably the weakest he's been the entire time I've played
I wish one of the supports clicked with me more
deathy says billy is S tier
My support is technically Doorman and he should clearly get charges on cart this would be healthy and fun
what's interesting is that on stat trackers hes about 48%
Played for the first time in a long while, seven is good when you dont have people with a god awful ammount of CC
My stupid thought is it's people playing Billy like Abrams when he is similar but very different
The amount of 1v3 Inting Heavy Melee Billies
my issue is actually just a matchup one
I have a really really hard time into celeste as billy
and she is not only everywhere but she's good
Same with Drifter tbh, makes you feel the m1 range
Billy is super aggressive but yeah you need to know how to play
drifter isn't too bad because I'm rarely acting isolated as billy
Abrams is kind braindead imo
It's the aerial mobility on celeste I struggle with
aim, press button
Abrams is simple, no character is braindead
move around so you dont die
No that's what I mean, Drifter vs Celeste is also 'aaaaa get back here'
fair
ohhh
yeah I've also noticed that but as drifter I'm happy if I can just scare the celeste off
and i basically just walked around melting people
billy if I'm initiating I'm trying to drag it into a fight, ya know
dying only because i got hit by 4 people at once
It feels like Abrams Gun could do 60% of this damage and he would be Fine
do you build gun on abrams i forgot
They never even really build it
it's a shotgun and shotguns are cracked
like
i once played him
pure spirit + green
man juggernaut + makesyoubig is good on him
I should try Colossus more it's an odd one
colossus spirit + bullet resil is hilarious shit
fuck you 70% damage resist
i want to play a nuclear tank
nuclear tank?
Colossus Melee Venator...
imagine if doorman was a tank or something idk
i like Abrams, he's just not fun to me
I should play green shiv
green shiv sounds super fun to me
I like doorman, he has great kidnapping potentional on anyone more groundbound
You can get an air cart but lordt it's an awkward projectile
ye
Getting a Seven Ult feels astonishing
Yall, how do I play Paige
spirit nuke who builds lots of healing
Stand medium range from allies, throw shields and aoes
christ a battle paige is horrifying
Hmm hmm, so build spirit, throw shields
Buy guardian ward/ divine barrier for more barriers, buy knockdown and then put your 3 on them to chain CC, buy whatever other actives are good for the game (slowing hex into vortex), and so on
Ok
yeah also, you're a support, buy the support items useful in the matchup
Hmm, this random build I got asks for mystic expansion but doesnt say what I should put it on
You can more or less skip raw spirit on her if you're playing support role. You want it if you're doing inferno dragons or something
3
Ok
one of the big things about paige is you deal a massive amount of damage if you want
your dragons are crazy good w/ your sword
you either build support on nuke on her, and I think there's a lot better nukers
you do
Any suggestion for like someone who is new to mobas
Graves
Seven
go off vibes tbh
Graves is insanely easy to build, easy to play, and focuses more on the larger map than the finer aim tbh
Seven is already in my rotation
if you think someone is cool, take them into a bot game
like you could build virtually anything and it'd work
graves is not a bad suggestion, imo
gun? if its a bullet CC or lets you shoot more, it works
rem is also another one that you worry more about strategy than direct execution
I am asking around because I'm afraid if I only Seven one trick, the moment I dont get Seven, I crumble
and green is just hella easy
do you want another hard carry like 7?
get spirit + bullet resil and boom, double HP
Something less farming sim would be nice
so you want something that doesn't need a tonne of farm and is simple for someone with minimal moba experience?
Yes
Mo & Krill appeal at all?
Hmm, sure, he looks cool
strongest ult in the game
generally, you cannot go wrong with any pick, so long as you enjoy them tbh
iirc on mo & krill you build spirit damage and cooldown reduction for scorn
you want yamato
with a heavy greens build
no one wants yamato
Sad but it's true
Dynamo is always a pleasure to have in the team
It's like Braum in League
You're just happy he's there
I think dynamo and M+K can both do a ton with relatively low farm
though sometimes its a bit of a one way trip in fights
M+K has a built-in reputation
But no one will ever complain to have them on their side
If it's an allied M+K, it's all good
The problems starts when it's not
lockdown ults are good, more news at 5
I really wish they thought of anything else for Vindicta's ult, did we need more infinite scaling, I guess people like number go up
I prefer it over BIG MONEY BIG MONEY MONEY OF BIG
Does Counterspell deny him the stack
One thing a lot of ppl seem to miss is like, object permanence
"Get away from others when you get bomb/celeste ult"
They immediately jump into the team
The deadlock player is easily startled and seeks safety in the herd
By chugging a pipebomb into the herd aye
a good reputation 😌
I love to lane with M + K, it's just after laning that I get concerned
As a Silver main I need M+K removed from the game tyvm
I appreciate his abundantly shootable shape, really eats up a Slamfire
Also teams, please, please stop making Silver clear the waves, she is so bad at this orz
almost everyone should be clearing the waves
Many players still seem to be figuring this out
jungle is a sometimes food, even for a carry looking for farm
Ball Seven is a special case who gets to do both at once
I enjoy being a mo n krill
I struggle to kill sometimes but I enjoy bring a mobile cc tank
hold q more
and or buy a firerate idk
Yeah but I feel like Apollo right now is just not equivalent to some of those. Pocket scales great into late, Lash late game wins entire games off a good ult, Yamato they just buffed their slash scaling a lot to be good late and their ult scales super well with whatever you do
Meanwhile Apollo ult is a "kill all opps" button for the first 20 minutes then is a self destruct button in late game

Rem is best bud
I agree that I think Apollo may be a little weak right now, it's hard to say
I think people aren't using his ult to the fullest
they definitely turned down a LOT of numbers at the same time
I would be interested if it is just that Apollo himself is weak or if the game is currently to slow for apollo to be stronger
I think his triple stab hitbox was too generous prior
But I do think that he has a skill cap that's very very high
Cause I can def see that maybe in higher tiers Apollo is still super fine if game are ended way earlier?
I feel like being able to suddenly freeze the enemy team for setting up whatever you want for like a whole second while they're cursed is kind of great
and nobody is really doing that
most apollo play we're evaluating him on is like, solo queue play
Is walker stomp deterministic? I thought it was RNG but the vid could just be showing clips where it worked
did we had apollo matches in night shift?
the enemy can kind of control it, they need to step in the smaller circle to trigger the stomp
and if you grab a enemy well
So a door inside the circle will immediately trigger it, gotcha
Well its an execute, so people wanna try and use it to secure kills because thats what its ostensibly for
you will also see people bait the stomp to go in harder in the enemy
Oh, realized it feels RNG because walker can be busy still doing fireballs when you enter the circle
sure, agreed. but like. this is dota
you gotta go the distance
iirc the execute bonus damage is checked at the last moment, at the end of the curse duration
could you just... like... ult someone and then geist shows up and swaps them into kill threshold
and then they die?
I suspect the answer is yes
because those tricks do work in dota
is it an actual execute?
icefrog is happy to let us ruin ourselves by making 4 step master plans which is a bad master plan
or just higher damage on low health?
it's not an axe style execute, it's just bonus damage below 50% health
50% 60% damage boost if you're at low health
Which increases to 100% at T3
yeah I was getting confused over winged calling it an execute
but you don't even need to make it complicated, like, literally just "apollo starts with ult and then graves draws a line under them" will probably win you a fight
voy called it an execute
Because it is

I mean, an execute is what grey talon or shiv does
okay I think like. when jaacker clearly means instant kill
The base damage of 225 means it's doing at least 360 damage in lane against low health, depending on how much spirit Apollo has
we shouldn't use execute and get semantic about it
I imagine he has to at least have improved spirit
unless he went for something more unorthodox
Doing some math RN, gonna assume 3200 in spirit items and improved spirit plus base spirit scaling
18 from imp spirit, 6.6 from boon scaling (ult unlocks at 6 boons), 19 from investment, that's 43.6 spirit total
x1.6 spirit scaling on the ability means +70 damage on high health, +111 damage on low health
But yeah, I do think Apollo didnt need his entire kit nerfed right away
He did need nerfs just not THAT much
Also isnt celeste dominating still?
So the 6 boon all in does do 471 damage, on some characters that's a guaranteed kill at 49% health
playing him is fun but I regularly feel like I can only do well against bad players
I just made the joke of going "Saving your guys life, repay me with incredible violence" in Street Brawl
Venator said "Trust" and next round was a horrific roll
I can understand the emergency nerf + careful buffs approach
one underpowered character means everyon plays like 25 chars
one overpowered character means everyone plays 1 char
they're not quite symmetric problems
sometimes it's better to turn problem 2 into problem 1
I do feel like we are currently in a meta where every game is the same tbh
I hardly see half the cast already
The ult is a bit strange because it is a curse, but also they get damage reduction during it. And it doesnt interrupt
Right now ive just late game been using it as an engagement tool more than an execute
Especially because the tier 3 upgrade might as well not exist
tbh I just don't think that's true. like even at night shift like 2-3rds of the cast are relevant
and like. from my perspective I see absolutely everybody in ritualist
maybe less sinclair?
sinclair is a wonky character I think needs a graphics pass
sinclair's a bit specialist, yeah
like if anything I think people can just clearly tell between the older more boring char designs vs the new ones. especially the old ones that are clearl using temp models
yeah I scanned the hero list I think sinclair is the only one that makes me go "oh shit a sinclair? 👀 "
everyone else I see regularly
remember the horrors of gun kelvin
youre just seeing a lot of the new heroes because they are. well. new
and thats half the heroes in a game
I prefer that to infinite slows forever beam kelvin tbh
Gun Kelvin is just kinda one gun carry of many
Beam Kelvin is the devil
peak gun kelvin was a menace
Trying to think who I haven't seen in a match yet
I do feel like 1/3rd is close enough to 1/2 that my point is not invalid
Cuz 13/38 being untouched is roughly 1/3
Don't think I've seen anyone hopping on Grey Talon, Ivy or Viscous
I havent seen anyone play pocket in a WHILE
I see pockets semi consistently
I havent seen one in a regular match in at least a month
Goddamn
half of 38 is 19, that's like 50% more than 13. and that's also night shift, like half the 'unpicked' heroes in the latest night shift are in my stack
And ive seen like one in street brawl
I think I've been in a match with a Pocket exactly once. Haven't played too long, though.
we played with 2 of them in our last game
I guess I can only speak to my meta, I dunno, I can imagine that at different mmrs maybe different characters are overrepresented for pub stomping. or solo queue hard carrying.
or something like that
I keep forgetting that pocket is a hero name and assuming it’s like Overwatch pocketing
like bloodseeker is way overrepresented in low mmr dota
in retrospect honestly maybe it's also cause I play 6 stack vs 6 stack
like pocket is insanely good with a team on comms with them
I would not be surprised if character balance skews a bit when everyone is siloed into a solo queue chamber
I mean you can pocket someone if you really want to
Dynamo does it very well
I haven't given Pocket a spin, but I think they're pretty cool
Just run around with your carry of choice
They’re fun but so goddamn hard
I keep trying and failing to win with them
I haven't played much pocket since Apollo and Celeste came out
But my max rank on them was 86
statlocker puts them at a 21% pick rate
from my own games
last 16 games has 6 pockets total
To play pocket you just need to realize you must buy 3 to 4 active items every game
If this is for pocket, they
they didn't even want to change letters
oh ye, fixed, my bad
"we need a nonbinary that can phase shift, throw big orbs that they can teleport to, and like. have a cool teamfight ult. they should mandatorily build blink dagger majestic leap every game."
puck... pock... pocket
done
game design boys
Puck with a shotgun and daddy issues
pucket
yes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDLi7w4LrQE eternus 6 pocket gameplay
"Puck" sounds like algospeak from zoomers if you think about it
I rarely see pockets tbh
Does puck also have a damage amp?
And even the ones I see eat shit more times than not
pocket should get a silence
Pocket used to have a disarm
Please no more silences
Is Puck nonbinary too?
Puck is only referred to as "it"
puck is La Creatura
Words rarely spoken
be careful
Puck is from the era where every NB being had to be a lizard
repeat
Now every NB needs a case full of frogs
the frogs fuck ngl
Every NB now needs to be divorced
the frogs are definitely a rizz improvement on the stupid coil
i'll say that
if puck vomited fifty frogs that would be much funnier
but I do think barrage is super boring compared to waning rift
Barrage has the float, which I think is something Pocket needs to feel similarly elusive.
I just kinda wish barrage had either pocket moving faster or a faster projectile speed
Ideally both
you're right the float is very good
We are allowed to be reptiles
As a lil treat
God this gif is so old it’s used the old 4 lane map
pocket's tough.
how many extra skills can puck get if it buys aghs / shard
actually no extra skills
what the fuck icefrog
puck is not a 50 skills character they're a "use these 3 skills in maddening combos" character
- you need a bunch of mandatory actives
my issue with pocket is like
The fanciest thing you can do on puck is orb buyback
I feel like only majestic leap is mandatory
figuring out how to land Barrage shots preemptively
yeah majestic leap / blink dagger is the big one
like you have to smell the situation where you start Barraging because in Barrage seconds it's gonna be time to do a Pocket combo on a group of enemies
honestly like. I do think the earlier heroes are just more boring
the newest heroes have more jazz hands in their design
I hope when they do model updates they update some kits a bit
I hope more older heroes get interesting updates
like, early puck was also ten times more boring
early puck couldn't curve bullets like its Wanted and couldn't teleport with waning rift
I think the main difference is like, early heroes have a lot more skills that are just, there
And they’re good and useful
and couldn't set waning rift to sucky sucky mode
But they’re there
yeah. it reminds me of early dota hero design
While newer ones each skill have a clear and definite purpose
well
a whole Theme going on with all his stuff
Like, each part of Victor’s kit is purpose made to be Victor
now that I've played some Paradox
jinx
there's a flow
yeah I was thinking of victor
there's absolutely a flow yeah, like, the old characters are not bad
abrams is still top of meta right now
but they're less, like, player interest grabbing
less jazzy
Pain Battery needs damage so his 2 and 3 hurt him, his 3 needs time to escalate so his 2 is a speed boost, his ult wants him to go in so he has a slow on 1 and 3
I also wanna note that Night Shift only has a handful of teams playing and those teams include known character specialists which shape the picks/bans further
you need to love the value they bring not the fantasy
nah like, her skills do have a flow, there's a combo
yeah it's a very small squad
I'm not sure if Dota 2 had any "beginner" characters people point to, I'd just try to go off of vibes like I'm doing with Deadlock now
Lol
For sure but they’re not all serving the same singular purpose that newer kits are
I do think warden is like. painfully boring.
And there are qualifiers for other teams but they're not in the event streams AFAIK, and the event stream is the only games covered in the meta report
it's not obvious at first but you can show up and smash someone's head in with the Paradox full combo of stop-grenade-wall-swap
there's only one character I think really needs a rework stat and it's warden
the man is just absolutely a pile of random old dota abilities
Like I feel like the main difference is found in how a lot of the older characters have way more stuff you can build into because there’s like a dozen different things they scale off of
Dota lets you sort heroes by complexity and it is pretty reliable
I appreciate that they are still game winning stat wise, that's good, but please give them the new model and make them cooler I dunno. I love the AA freeze they have
but that's it
There's a bunch
Warden feels mostly like a "has good spells" kit
a lot of 'old' dota hero design is all midrange
just a pile of good spells
cause hey value is value
I mean he’s at least got the gimmick of alchemical flask slowing and draining stamina
So his 3 is easier to land
And flask having a low CD and decent offense stats makes it good for imbues
the joke of "Paradox is a sentient Grey Talon owl" has been living in my head rent free for a while because it's kinda just true
Honestly I just think warden needs like, a more interesting 2 and he’d be fine
Like how Celeste shield silences when popped
Something like that
you pick someone who needs to perish and run after them, grab them by the neck and drag them out of their team, and pray you aren't dead afterwards
I do wish he'd get the new model soon
Honestly I could see them "reworking" Warden's abilities to be more thematic by changing the ult windup animation to one where he chugs a super-potion
even more than vyper and yamato
I feel like I see every character reasonably frequently, maybe Shiv and Infernus are currently kinda unseen in my games
he's just, like, a tf2 soldier with some cop gear on
Oh yah the new model is a given I think
I’m just saying mechanically because that’s more up in the air if they’ll change it
But like half the cast needs new models
(Using the competitive nights for this is a really bad idea because there's some otherwise very popular and generally strong heroes who just don't show there at all for funny competitive draft reasons)
I just saw Shiv and Infernus last night, in the same game even
I guess I don't see Paradox much either
I was playing a 6v6 inhouse game yesterday with a strong Shiv player who dominated
yeah I've seen Infernus recently but not like, often. Feels like I used to see him and Shiv much more
Shiv is still crazy imo
Unkillable asshole with an execute is just sorta an inherently strong character
yup, right there in top row
man is literally shiv
the only reason I don't play him more is because i'm not sure he fits my pick style
IIRC Eido is a Shiv/Mina specialist with the ability to flex, so yeah
yeah
just kinda speaking from anecdote, which isn't very good data, but it is an anecdote from a near-median MMR player
Come to think, I don't think I've seen a Warden player (or at least, never directly fought one in a match)
(likely high-ritualist/low-emissary)
oh also I've been scoring more and more 3+-man stuns with Vortex Web > Cart as doorman and it's starting to go from "I don't know if I'm doing much for my team" to "I know what I'm doing for my team and it's evil"
I realized I have no idea what Wardens full kit is
I feel like I see Wardens pretty frequently
I see them semi regularly
He’s rather strong
Its flask, claw, ult
a lot of it feels kinda invisible in play but is definitely contributing to killing you
warden is game winning
Flask, shield, cuffs, cone of lifesteal
grenade, shield, crane game, Change Da World
Flask, self-barrier, claw, stand and fight
He has a shield????
the crane game is cool
Yup
the ult and claw are very obvious, the flask and shield are not
A big one too
I was teaching @jaunty garden deadlock again and they were going through the heroes and when we came to warden they were like "is warden's ult still Win The Fight" and I said "yes"
Yeah his 2 is a self-barrier, with T1 it provides a speed buff
Flask is pretty obvious since he goes ALCHEMICAL FLASK
im sorry but the bottle and the shield are absolutely honkshoo mimimi tier abilities
like you have to play around it so much because nobody is unkillable like an ulting warden
crane game is funny
yeah but flask is comparatively easy to miss in the chaos of a big fight
I do think warden is deepy boring yeah
whereas you can't really miss the claw or ult haha
shield + steroid ult is very boring to me yeah
it's wild that deadlock's skeleton king is more interesting
I like there being occasional boring guys TBH
that's super fair
Warden doesnt need a rework but he does uniquely at this point feel like he doesnt fit into the game
Warden isn't really appealing to me, tbh
He's like Captain Alchemist
Yah, I think warden is boring but he’s an important guy for the game’s ecosystem
he doesn't NEED a rework
warden is old reliable
yeah he's just missing the juice
No one has a single conversation with him
Some people like playing characters who just fight well
his voice otoh
is fucking brain chemistry altering
hes more in need of aesthetic huicing
mina / silver / celeste / rem etc are all so, like, characterful
He throws flasks, shoots you and wins
STAND BEFORE ME AND DIE
Well there's half-convos, but none of Warden's lines in them
even if mina's kit is very boring too
I do wonder if I might mechanically like Warden, it's just that he visually looks like... the world's most boring old-timey cop. he has all the (visual) rizz of a background character in a Tintin comic
It’s so funny how serious he is for having the doohicky gun
let's dial it down please
It's the Alchemical Doohickey
Mina's a more appealing character, though I feel I'm not that great with her
Could just be inexperience
okay I'm just saying like
gun that killed shinzo abe
Hot vampire nobles are appealing, true.
it is a bizarre and incomprehensible take on the righteous bison
Warden ideally will have a full redesign too because rn he’s just using a scrapped character for his model and Kelvin for his animations
yeah he's slated for a redesign happily
Soldier raygun everyone thinks is wack
funniest mina reaction
The one thing I hope he keeps is the lack of eyes tbh
I think the only character who needs an ability rework is Mirage
It feels very fitting for his alchemist judge dredd gimmick
really? mirage is so interesting
Awww, I love Mirage
anyways Warden's voice is fucking impeccable please give him visuals to match
I think he's one of the more interesting characters in the cast
I like him a lot
personality and kit wise
He is character wise one of the coolest guys in the cast
if anything I'd buff his ult to make it just any point
I just wish scarabs were actually fun to hit
Kit wise its all random shit and the worst feeling projectile in the game
Mirage needs better SFX on his abilities, both sound and graphics
Mmm, scarabs do need better vibes.
Rn it feels like he’s throwing bar darts at people
They're really strong but don't FEEL super strong
Spirit Warden is incredibly fucking funny to me
Bring back his old voice
It was so funny
I had no idea there were fire scarabs getting thrown at me when it happened
I was like
FOR THE DJINN
i once got a street brawl match where his flask had a 2 second CD
"huh? fuck was that?"
AUUUUUUUUUGH
they gotta fix whatever thr lighting is doing to his face to make him look so ghoulish
god fuckign dayum
took a moment to think
