ah damn should i delete it then?
I mean
Personally I would (also had to double check that it's still a rule for no AI so based on that too yeah)
then thats what ill do
Does that Graves even have any greens ?
Your guardian is actually not very important
I know it feels emotionally bad to lose it and at low mmr people use it to time when their laning stage ends
But you should treat the guardian as like
- a shop for you
- one sinner's sacrifice of money for the enemy if they get it
Like if you leave your guardian to die and get a camp and a sinner's you are ahead
Your guardian is still really useful as basically a beachhead to get the real money: troopers
It's a place to farm troopers from and it's got a convenient shop
But really that's it
If you're dying just abandon the guardian and take your jungle and take the enemy jungle maybe if they're bad at keeping you out
If you're very early and can't take camps just let your guardian fall and take troopers closer to your walker
It's honestly fine
I really think it's funny how many people bag on Graves bc that's just a teenage girl. Her only crime is being an angsty teenager
Apollo's in the running for second place though, but it's a sharp drop after Billy lmao
I find all these tips with Deadlock really helpful and funny at the same time
It's like Deathy saying "Dying isn't that important in the grand scheme of things, particularly in early game, or if you sacrifice for an objective"
Yeah the reality is like. You really have to actually think about the path to victory in games that are not designed around your emotional reflexes
Dota is just a prickly game
Like. Uh. Really simple example: respawn wave systems
Many modern shooters will queue up dead teammates so they all spawn at once in a wave so people don't run out and just die alone one by one
I think overwatch may have done this?
Meanwhile Dota and consequently Deadlock are not that interested in coddling you - if you die you're out for N seconds and you figure it out
And sometimes that means you respawn but actually the correct thing to do is stay in base and let the shrines fall
And wait for more backup to spawn before you all roll out together
I have noticed with Deadlock specifically that folks seem to make more decisions based on shooter games than treating it like a MOBA
Even folks in my play group who I know are good at other DotA style games make the sort of decisions that make sense in an overwatch type game but are really bad for a MOBA
Dota is famously the game where people realized killing their own minions was actually an amazing strat to deny enemy farm
I played a bit of Rivals like one week before I fell into Deadlock
And, like, Rivals, while fun, just felt like chaos, with not much meat as in game-planning
We're all used to it now
But you really gotta enter that headspace
The game rewards being a shrewd bastard and not just like, running out into fights and having a good time
Street Brawl is good for that style of play
Rivals is like overwatch it's a vehicle to get you into a forever teamfight that's fun
Yeah exactly
But broadly in deadlock you will be rewarded for thinking about what's actually gonna bring you closer to victory fr fr every time
It’s good for playing the most intense aspects of the game but it doesn’t teach you to do the parts of the main game that actually win you matches
This is what I do when the lane is lost. Just hard focus earning what souls I can through denies and let the guardian be a guardian and guard me while I take souls.
Because even if I lose the lane I can still get souls and use the souls to go roam and do other things and that's how I usually end up with mvp or key player while my laning partner ends up with mvp or key player
I do have to say
if you are losing in like 5 mins your guardian
you kind of have to warn the team because the enemies in your lane are most likely fed
also lane guardian helps as a stopping point for the zipline, until the guardian falls the zipline will always go to the middle at the very least
You should but you don't have to.
Like 100% call missing but like, your teammates should be aware and to over stress about trying to assist your team is gonna get you killed and underperform worse.
Communicate first, always, past that you do what you can.
Or just do what Winged says and stack queue, that way when I get a rem who never participates in teamfights and spends the entire game farming I can still have people on voice that we can coordinate when we're down a player for the majority of the game. That way if rem ever does teamfight they at least can hopefully do something with the souls they acquired.
And if not, oh well, gg go next, we knew what we were getting into by not having a 6 stack
Someone can legit queue while at the airport and not realize they queue'd pvp instead of bots, things happen, its fine
My most common deaths in deadlock are because I underperform by trying to play with a random who looks like they're wanting to fight but peels off last moment
It's one of those things you just accept
Also I'm curious
Did they like
Increase the amount of farmable things at some point?
I know Team Fortress 2 and Wolfenstein ET did wave respawns, I'm not sure about Overwatch but I think so?
I feel like more recently I can actually breathe a bit when farming but awhile back it felt like farm was a real struggle to get
They reduced jungle creep HP, reward, and respawn time all by 30%
About a month ago
Ahh yeah that's prob it
It used to feel like I was checking under every dumpster for scraps of souls but now it's like there's souls around every other corner
Mina pays rent
Silver would be a pretty bad roommate
Vyper’s gotta be up there right?
yeup
I feel like she'd mostly never be around (either at work or in a pub) and just be kinda stinky while she is
She does explicitly do bounty hunting so she can have a home.
Silver would have bottles of beer around your house
you would need to clean up her mess most likely
literally she is saying "I prefer to summon a god than do my laundry" in her select voicelines
yeah but I feel like Billy's mess would be far worse. Maybe I'm being prejudiced against Billy, though
Depends
Billy seems too performative to be chill so I would say him but I would have to see it
and you could probably guilt her into cleaning up a bit of hers occasionally while you'd basically have to hope that Billy would be in a random good mood one day, because he'd just argue with you no matter how you approached the subject
I've had roommates that are worse than silver that like, don't understand things due to just geolocational differences
Actually Billy pays taxes
Like leaving fruit that spoils in humidity
yeah billy pays taxes
so we should assume he also pays rent
so I think Silver and Vyper are worse
since they wouldn't
Billy yelling at you because you didn't fold up all of your socks and left pair loose
Silver's entire thing is paying rent basically haha
but also Silver and Vyper would be better because they're hotter
Vyper wouldn't have an apartment so she's out
Billy makes a joke about paying taxes. That does not mean he actually does it.
so really it's anyone's guess
dude it's my laundry fuck off
Billy insists he pays taxes to like 5 different characters
it's an actual character trait
Group respawn was a mechanic in non-competitive game modes, causing players who are eliminated close to each other to respawn together. This results in some players having either a slightly longer or shorter queue than the standard 10 seconds. The purpose of group respawn is to reduce snowballing that happens due to uncoordinated teams being unable to group up by themselves.[4] Group respawn was replaced by Wave Respawn mechanic in Season 12.
etc etc
The only quote I can see where he says he pays taxes is a Haze kill line, at least on the deadlock wiki
people are used to games that like. broadly just kinda gently nudge them into having fun even with mindless go-get-into-a-fight play
Also Holiday's bounce pad lines
Also I believe another Holiday line and a Warden line
lets be honest, mina collects rent
I love game design
Ok, now who would be the best roommate in the Deadlock roster?
yeah Mina is your Land lord.
Or did I already miss that conversation
Paige
Mina probably lives in a mcmansion
Dynamo
Silver because it means I get to look at Silver.
Paige would be an awful room mate because she's a narc
even league of legends literally has, like, game mechanics that check if people aren't in their lanes during laning stage and it debuffs them
That was added this year but yeah
what?
for real?
you mean narcisist?
no, shed tell on you
I remember this actually being kind of controversial because it invalidated some niche strategies that didn't usually see play anyway
narc means like snitch. It comes from a shortening of Narcotic Agent, like someone who investigates Narcotics based crimes.
I think League Of Legends is stifling creativity. Let's compare it to Dota again!
This is the most important League Of Legends VS Dota 2 video I have ever made. Hope you like it!

TWITCH: https://www.twitch.tv/tzar_potato
Learning DOTA? https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1gn5c9u/learn_dota_2_as_a_league_p...
And worse, there's at least one niche strategy that didn't usually see play, but it debuffed the counterplay to it instead
Oof lol
yeah league's solutions to things are just to
stop you from doing the thing
instead of addressing anything underlying
doesnt league just outright not allow you to buy items?
because they are from a differet class?
200 years game design
"if you're a jungler you must legally buy a jungle item before we let you buy anything else"
And this is a few years after "you need smite to be allowed to buy a jungle item"
"And if you don't pick smite, we will randomly replace one of your other spells with it"
senna's being played as an ADC?
I'm iffy on that cause I know I had a few times in league where top laner took smite to early steal jg buffs
nuke her
Also I keep hearing about some pendragon guy when I read about LoL in the deadlock subreddit
And then win the lane off that
yeah anyway it's hard to like. overstate how dota and deadlock may be your first experience with a game that doesn't sorta coddle you and try to shape automatic play into good play
Some junglers could opt out of smite and just 1v1 the enemy jungler
And also various smite support strategies
and how apparently teemo was sorta stolen by league
I don't think these kinds of designs are bad designs they're just like, designs built for coordinating people who don't coordinate and rewarding people for doing the thing they want to do
which is not bad ceteris paribus
if that's the game you build that's the game you get
I think the funniest smite support strategy was on bltizcrank (think pudge/bebop)
and that's fun
I think that like, it's probably a reasonable position to say marvel rivals is more immediately fun than deadlock
You can protect yourself from blitz hook by hiding behind minions, smite support blitz would use smite to instantly kill a minion before hooking
so basically cult sac in distance a minion?
It was never optimal or meta, but it's very funny
whats the range on smite?
Honestly, I am enjoying Deadlock a lot more than Marvel Rivals so far.
Not as long as Blitz's hook I'm pretty sure
My favorite moba is still smite but I do like Deadlock if I want to be comp about a moba
tbh deadlock is allowing you more fun by comparison
Medium range? It's shorter than blitz hook but he's also reaching past the minon he's smiting anyway
With like being able to parkour
Also comparing deadlock to like marvel rivals
I can 100% have more fun in deadlock than marvel rivals
Because there's no surrender option yet
I forgot Rivals has surrender is that only in ranked
The time to kill for Marvel Rivals felt way too low. Which, normally I prefer in shooters, but it feels really out of theme for a superhero game.
asking mostly cause dota has hand of midas
that lets you install kill one lane creep or neutral
but using it to do a pudge hook would be so wasteful lol
So if I out perform an enemy team and get to do what I want for a full match at best they can just d/c.
Then on the flipside, if I'm losing in deadlock getting a sneaky kill on some fed enemy player is more satisfying
so hand of midas is dotas cultist sacrifice?
A good blitz hook can guarantee a kill early, and kills are really valuable in League
yeah
yeah!
Jg invasion blitzcrank I saw so many times
I just remembered that mod that turned the images on the shop to dota equivalents
I prefer cultist ngl
it's more interesting
the buff it gets you is really fascinating
cultist is more interesting ye
hand of midas is strictly a farming tool
midas is just farm efficiency
Anyway smite support blitz can also use smite for other smite support reasons (securing jungle buffs and objectives, killing cannon creep for pushing wave), but it's still not as good as ignite or exhaust
uh
Only similar thing with mina and marceline is being both vampires, I dont think she fits
I want a mod for the old haze model
Chat, y’all prioritize stamina or movement speed generally?
I am having fun with deadlock and I am also having insanely fun in league
its a very nice switchup depending on what I wanna do
It depends on the character
Tanky ones I want to just move fast
I do wish they would add surrender tbh
Even if I know they won't, since Dota doesn't have it either
On someone that doesnt want to take damage then stamina
I know people say they shouldn’t because it’d encourage giving up
But like, even if a game is winnable
I don’t always wanna stick around for the comeback lol
I would really like a surrender
Sometimes I wanna just stop and go next
I'm hard against surrender in games like this.
if you are really worried do it like league and put a timegate on it I think
atm it sucks so bad if people just leave
that said i am also def coloured by being held hostage in a game recently
Also I see
I really need to buy stam items more
Generally it's like this:
I think I only go like stam mastery on silver so far
Stamina is for people who need to just be mobile for short bursts, like assassins or supports or just need to not Die during a fight
Movespeed is for melee and shotgun champs who need to stick to people for sustained durations while doing damage
Sprint speed is for roaming people who need to quickly relocate to parts of the map
Fleetfoot is great for a bunch of characters
yes i know its a little off because they changed it and frankly i dont care
I know that if enough of your teammates leave, the game pops up a message saying that you can leave without penalty
It's after someone leaves for long enough
My biggest argument against a surrender is because of league tbh
surrender ime only creates more nongames and toxic behaviour
Every time ive hopped back into league over the years has been a similar sentiment of a third of the games being given up the moment the enemy has even the scent of a lead
Does Deadlock tell ya if your reports amount to things? Had a virulently racist Graves I'd like to know can't speak anymore
I dont think they do currently, no
Ah well, I trust the systems
honestly depends because I keep seeing in reddit about people being toxic or hackers
If at least 4/5 people wanna get out of the game, that's fine with me
if its 2 or 1 its just that one person sitting in spawn afking while moving every once in a while to not get kicked out automatically by the game
I think if people are playing with a toy and aren't having fun playing with the toy and want to move on it's fine
Yeah nah finish your games & you'll surprise yourself. Some of the funnest games are hard-fought comebacks that might never have happened if you could just give up and bail out when you think youre behind.
I don't mind playing a badly losing game of Deadlock as much as a badly losing game of League. Getting repeatedly killed under walker by Apollo is frustrating, but not as frustrating as getting repeatedly killed under tower by, uhhhh... who's a League character who does that... Mundo?
But I do agree, if the game is not fun any more, you should be able to stop playing
Although the bigger issue there is probably people surrendering and then immediately requeuing instead of taking a break
"Anyone who disagrees with me is a snowflake"
I think if you want to try and pull it back it's on you to actually motivate people to keep playing and not want to surrender in the first place
I'd rather not be forced to stick with a losing game for another 20 minutes at least
Yes some of those can be turned around, but I don't care
I find it a weird mindset to think that you should be able to force strangers to continue doing a thing they aren't having fun doing personally
Yah, being beat hard in a moba isn’t fun
Even if there’s still a possibility of victory
If some 8/0 Billy is just diving me repeatedly and beating me to death with a bat I don’t particularly care to make a comeback
I just wanna move onto a game where I’m not dying constantly
Publicly executed
I love yoshi just calling them out and deleting any chance they had at recovery
but this was like 2 years ago when the game was still in the "NDA"
I dont know how reports are handled or if people have received bans or restrictions
I approach it more from the direction of having ff as an option changes how people play and view leads. Yes. Sometimes you're fucked. the game is no fun, and everyone wants out. But having ff around means that people will view smaller leads as more severe and cheat themselves out of a good time and a good learning experience. its very frustrating to have your teammates give up when they could have won. And I find playing games with FF some people can have a lost lane = lost game attitude where that's less prevalent in Dota/Deadlock.
Forfeit is good to have on a per match basis and bad to have for the game as a whole. I also find that it can lead to some pretty toxic behavior of people giving up even earlier in the game.
I dont want to force people to not have fun. I always want everyone to have more fun, but I think forfeit makes team games less fun.
my league experience was so tremendously full of surrenders all the time yeah. just keep playing the game
had a horrific game the other day, enemy vyper went 7/0 in lane, truly terrifying us. then she didnt get any other lills rest of the game
Dota actually does allow surrenders, you need to be a 5 stack though
And yeah nikh basically has the dota design headspace down. League encouraged people to approach games like Battle Royale games where you die and then just restart
I’m sorta sympathetic to that but it’s also frustrating to see people give up and check out of a definitely winnable game especially in cultures of play which are more surrender happy
Deadlock is really hard to win the match in early enough that it’s a miserable slog to loss for the next 20 minutes
Like really really hard
Though my personal opinion is that surrenders are just there to end games where the team with the lead is playing with their food and nothing else
which means it doesn't exist for the majority of games
Comeback urns, map junk, buffs, etc. all exist and let you come back hard
You can lose lane and just go “alright no one’s gonna see me for the next 10 minutes and when I come back I’ll rip their carry’s head off”
The game straight up has comeback gold haha
Though sometimes it gets pretty bad and you have stuff like the losing team can't feasibly contest their own comeback urn even with members alive
I think it’s sorta wild but also smart that kills and farm are just worth more if you’re behind
the dota perspective is that games where you're stuck not being able to do anything at all for 20 minutes with no capacity to come back is a fault of the game that needs to be solved with mechanics and not surrender systems
though, again, you are just allowed to surrender if you're in a 5 stack
because then there's no cultural bullying element to it
Since it also means you can’t rest on your laurels with a lead as much and just walletfight
it happens often enough to me, so shrug
I had a fun game last night where we were losing early and the streaking vindicta was being toxic and so I bought phantom strike before any 3200s aside from PB and either I or my Paige (with KD) slammed her down every teamfight and we won hard. Very satisfying
i wish comeback urns were real 😔
what do u mean
just most of my games they still belong to whichever team is currently winning haha
comeback urns are extremely real
it's a careful balancing act
just gotta facilitate them with your team and get the map presence
there has been like, one patch where comeback mechanics were too strong in dota and it truly sucked. like you had teams throwing the early game in a calculated manner to get comeback bonuses to win the lategame
you end up with truly bizarre wincons
Am I wrong in thinking Escalating Exposure works too well?
Like it counters counterbuilding but -also- makes you do a shitload more damage
comeback mechanics are designed to smooth the brutality rate a bit so that, like, you always have a 20% chance of getting back into the game with a cool fight
oh yeah. comeback urn only really free between 10%-20% soul deficit. once youre under 20% soul deficit it can be hard to win an urn even if its on your side. you can still do it though, you just have to coordinate it
Armor Piercing Rounds is way more specific
dispel magic
difficult to get map presence when you're behind
When three folks build it it's hard to keep up orz
escalating exposure is realistically kind of a weak 6400
dispel magic is a cheap solution to all 3 of them
but if youre running the lobby its great
if 3 of them are all doing it to you at once you're dead no matter what
Unless you're up against like a max stamina Celeste then usually there will be a time when the other team leaves urn wide open
not necessarily, you can get map presence without winning fights
if the enemy team is tunnel visioning a walker and you're splitpushing, you have the map presence
losing is bad, winning is good
playing from behind is more challenging
my usual piece of structural advice is: take bigger risks when you're losing. the risk is lower and the rewards are higher
you need to be bold and sometimes do stupid hard calls
if the enemy team thinks they can easily contest an urn and your team is farming jg around the drop point and escorting the urn runner, that's also an easy kill or two
ugh I didnt even think about Celeste turboing urns lmao
or they just win the urn because they're ahead and you lose more
I mean yes
you can always win or lose
if you assume you'll always lose because you're behind, that necessarily entails continuing to lose forever
you actually do have to say "nah I'd win" when you're behind
tbh if you're so far behind you can't take any fights at all then yeah systems conspiring to make your enemy win quicker is a way of getting you out of the game faster. luna's right
and you can also break it down into smaller stuff
like "chances of victory are low, time to practice my movement in the next fight"
take the right fights, don't square up 1v1 if you're all a little weaker than your opponents
but also, you do actually have to assert yourselves a little or you will just continue getting folded unto death
like you win more if you try and keep good mental, always
funny experience last night: have queued multiple times with a friend in a higher elo with me, discovered while queuing with another friend that friend 1 is still not in the crazy people ranks
what is crazy people rank
annihilated as a poor innocent rem by viscous punches into paradox ults, forever
If morale fractures then comeback becomes a dim prospect, this is why I'm spending the entire game telling my random queue teammates good job when they get kills or objectives even if we're losing
people being Actually Good and synchronized
people actually walljumping for crazy escapes etc
good viscous / paradox are terrifying lol
was just in a fundamental space of "oh people move too fast for me to hit them easily in chris' ranks"
Paradox can really lay the hurt on you if her team responds quickly to a Kinetic Carbine hit
that brief Time Stop is enough to set up much much worse things
ive got a fake disease where I cant learn shit and my aim never improves regardless of how many shooters I play for years. tragic
Feel that
My aim is also dogshit, hence why I only play Victor and statcheck people now
I think on average an urn is supposed to be about 10% the average team value, right?
Its actually very stat inefficient for most of the game, and the stacking component is to the individual and not more shred
Meant to reply to this with that
It just sucks for me because I would like to play M1 heroes but just absolutely can't
hey Graves is a great m1 hero
I'm honestly not super sure how much people can get away with but that's mainly a lack of times where I've really needed to.
For me it would be selling a damage item for unstoppable and trying to snipe mid buff if we catch them doing it early enough
But Idk if you can parry someone who has unstoppable or if it would block the punch or what
My tracking isn't good enough for Graves either tbh
It blocks the damage on whoever parried but doesn't stun you and would still hit the rejuvenator
my aim's actually pretty decent after descending into the Tribes mines for a while
Gotcha so yeah maybe like, that
it used to be shit now I can pretty solidly deny souls while sliding
Or like, purposely dying to prevent bridge buffs or something
Pivot into unstoppable to dive a rejuv contest is a great hail mary play
It's the only thing I can think of
Just finished an absolutely wild match
I had highest souls in lobby for most of the game as Ivy
Deadlock isn't league where I can just play jg with smite and just, walk into a camp and snipe the buff before getting away
Purposefully dying is probably not a good one though cuz being dead for a minute is a huge window of time
There were at least 2 instances where I solo killed an ulting Drifter or Silver
2 people from my team disconnected and so did 1 from the enemy team, and then the game still went on for another 10 minutes
one of the best feelings for sure
Just a bizarre match
Idk maybe can do some risky plays with doorman by trying to solo bait their carry through a door or something
That's always doorman's thing, being a trickery slippery bastard
Yeah like I can think of some 300 iq plays from him
Or drifter using his 2 on a team doing rejuvenator and trying to snipe it that way
All the more satisfying when I slowing hex pillow naptime his ass
I just got in one of those games I talked bout a few days ago
Only this time, I was on the hard-pushed lane
ONLY
we won
lesgo
I was with Paige, playing Vyper, and got hard pushed (lost the Walker around the 10min mark) by a Seven/Bebop "Fun dynamic" (grab go boom go boom)
But, by stalling, farming, and pushing waves, again and again, slowly, we took the upper hand
if the enemy team doesnt learn to commit to a push
they lose real easily
ive won a few games because they couldnt take advantage of a soul lead
meanwhile the reason i cant is because im bad
The Bebop was really competent I felt
The Apollo not so much,
Seven was Seven
Apollo is a hit or miss tbh
There was no particular soul discrepancy
Until the very end, there was 5k difference at most, I'd say
the duality of Seven:
Seven player who wins early hard and then doesn't turn that into a snowball
Seven player who loses early hard and then vanishes from the game, reappears at 25 minutes with enough damage to stop your team dead
Game or a single round?
fucking mood lol
i play like the second one tbh
I swap between the two personally
ideally, one strives to win lane, get the enemy's farm and their own, become Fat Seven and pat your fat belly while you throw lightning balls that hit like a bus
bigballs seven is the objectively best build
eh, gun hybrid seven is a menace
I do Ball/Gun hybrid personally
because you can make them suck deez thunder ballz
My balls buff my gun
Tesla Bullets, Bullet Resist Shredder and Ballistic Enchant balls is a motherfucker
oh and Recharging Rush
gotta get Recharging Rush
double 3
True
you don't NEED tesla bullets, but it lets you spread the Bullet Resist Shredder love without orb
mm, qs reload recharging rush
get the surge of power in there
I should cook up a Seven true hybrid Leech build
throw some LIGHTNING
I also get both Leech and Infusion
yknow the builds i use are usually pure spirit
It makes Seven a lot harder to kill
but hybrid makes a lot of sense
Leech Infuser Seven sure isn't easy to kill
because the second a ball lands he's just
I can regenerate faster than you can shoot me
patting his fat fucking lich belly "oughhh I'm so full of lifesteal"
Yep
i want to make a green build that people look at like, "what the fuck man"
Inflates Seven and makes him big and round (and full of spirit damage)
with both leech, infuser, and vampire
Never considered Vampire
and plated, spellbreaker
Might try that though
Sir, a second ball has hit the Midboss
There should be memes/semi-inspirational/bullshit quotes around the games (There certainly are) where it's "You're only 16% of a good teamwork"
needledrop deadlock review when
“Seven’s balls will always be bigger than yours”
“Lash is an Asshole”
“To win games, don’t overextend”
Loading screen tips that should be obvious but nobody actually listens to
"Don't forget to teamwork with your waves"
game, single round wouldve been actual death
What happens, if Sinclair copies his own ult (I understand it's not possible outside of training and customs), but, like, does it just copies it, and he gets the charge back, basically ?
ok damn i really wanna try sinclair
Sinclair is rather good though a lot of power comes from what the enemy team comp is and if you know who to steal from and also how to use their ult
Else, you do some bullshit like echo shard rabbits and be a menace
Don't steal haze or venator ult unless you have no other choice cuz they scale on weapon damage (which you don't usually have)
Bebop is an okay candidate yes
oh for the Seven people this is how the game went
If you steal Celeste ult, you can press 4 and hold it indefinitely even after your "stolen" time elapsed
So press 4 and just run around with it
I do feel like the main culprit of the loss is that I couldnt really engage nicely in fights. Drifter, Yamato and Appollo were jut diving me :c
should have maybe thought to buy etheral shift or something tho tbh
oh thats funny
ok wait
who has an ult sinclair can use better than the owner due to item priorities
sinclairs love grabbing graves ults
Drifter maybe? you are fullish spirit and prob also have duration etc
that's at least how it goes in my lobbies
and you can proc the bleed from far
i never see spirit ginnis
Spirit ginnis is basically fully committing to your ult winning everything for you
@merry verge @finite grotto @plain furnace @feral umbra @rocky cobalt Just a reminder yall got stack timing in 55 minutes but I shan't be around to arrange!
My connection has stabilized, I can play two games
I am here!
I find her gun just way better to build around
titanic + active reload...
spirit ginnis lil stinky
only downside of gun McGinnis is your 1 and 4 are kinda useless now
u can do it but its soooo bad from behind / parity
after being dumpstered by it i do wanna try gocket
its okay 2 and 3 are your good spells
It's sad for the turrets to be less prevalent
They must feel sad
Not item priority, but you can put your Assistant in your spawn, then zip out to a fight, steal paradox swap, and when you press 4 immediately press 2 while the projectile is still flying to return to your assistant. Then the swap projectile hits someone and they get swapped with you across the map into your spawn
ok what the fuck is this strat
Dota fountain hook ahh strat
@granite heath
Man I am on a streak of like expontentially more toxic people per game
This is how Sinclair brains need to work
what the fuck
Zombie Apocalypse
It really is just game knowledge of what kind of fuckery you can cheese out of abilities
this is why I don't play Sinclair tbh

Hwaa some delays on the stack, food things have happened
also getting low frames today >:|a
i will be in the vc shortly!
god dont remind me of that mirage rem video (joking)
ok weird venator i guess interaction?
you can kinda pull people with a combo of the 2 and 4 on venator if you shoot the 2 and then spamm your ult shoot
Chat, I’m not insane, the game used to need last hits to get max souls on minions?
you only need to lasthit to stop the enemy from denying now
Now you don't need to last hit, but
- souls that drop have a pickup range and limited lifetime
- souls that float can be hit and denied by enemies
If you melee last hit, you automatically secure the floaty souls
Prioritize securing your green floaty souls over denying enemy floaty souls if you can (it's easier cuz the timing is favored)
Yah I knew it
it was back when 4 lanes was a thing
they slowly got rid of that alongside denying souls on guardians/walkers/kills
before everyone exploded like a pinata so you had allies getting close to you so when you die you light meleed to secure the souls
it was also kind of tbagging in a way
you kill the dude then you light meleed their corpse
Punching the corpse until money falls out makes it feel like a weird mugging
thats... very deadlock tbh
fits the Complete Rat Fuck vibe a lot of the characters have
to be fair in context you are technically beating the shit out of some people passing their time in the forest of dota
and that is actual gold so you are mugging a family of 4

Yeaaah Deadlock is a lot more accessible feeling now that Souls aren't like a constantly rotating thing
That was a weiiird era
rotating ?
I played a bit a year ago, but I have not that much memories from that time
I don't know enough to properly explain, but it used to be optimal to like.. constantly be pooling in an out of lanes and whatnot, just added a lot of weird optimizations to get infinite souls compared to the enemy
My memory of it is mostly 'everyone yelling at eachother for being in the wrong place' so it may color things poorly
I think they called it Funneling
what makes lash ult so strong anyways?
it takes all the bad guys and puts them in one place so you can do all your bad stuff to them at the same time
it also comes with a very mobile aoe spirit nuker kit which does a lot of bad stuff
lash has a passive facet which makes the entire enemy team start with -3200 souls and one less item slot
you either buy the item that stops him from ruining any kind of fight with a central objective or you die
which item, knockdown?
counterspell lol
you don't really want to depend on your ability to find him in the middle of a teamfight is my thought process
it's really good to stick it on him if you're not the guy getting caught
like if you're on the outskirts of a fight and he doesn't yank you, absolutely, great to knock him down and force him to pull the trigger or waste ult altogether
but if you're likely to be the target of his ire i find it way more reliable to just press F and hand him the L
i guess his 1 can deal up to like, 1000 damage or something
in particular, any walker fight is just kind of terrifying while he has ult
i just find him a lot harder to use "properly" versus say, apollo
because the mechanics of walker immunity force you to stand in a place where he can yank you with impunity
and if he tosses your team into the walker it can potentially just be ggs
The ult is scary but something I like doing is sending Silence Wave or something at him if I have nothing more specific. It makes it so even if he throws 4 people he can't follow it up with a nuclear ground slam
When do you counterspell the lash slam?
watching him just deflatedly fall to the ground is so good, you know he's jonesing for the slam
after you hear DING DING DING you can pretty reliably press F and parry the spell unless he really fucking sits on it
when it would pull you
the duration of counterspell is super long
not "press F when it would pull you" since yeah there's a < 1 second window where it counts
you can use the rope being attached to you as a visual cue but I react faster and drilled it off of audio
I thought u had to parry at the second ding
just general counterspell usage, you gotta test around with it some to learn when the mark is for it
like I consistently mistime this for seven's stun
I think in most teamfights he wants to lock on more people so there might be some delay from that
if he only solo ults someone that's a pretty big benefit compared to the alternative of everyone getting shamoned
the other thing about Lash ult is that its aoe is a cone with no vertical range limit and Lash unlike say Bebop or Seven has the tools to start channelling it from that height
Knockdown/Phantom Strike specifically had to be patched to ignore height in their range calculations otherwise Lashes would just be up so high it wouldn't actually be possible to nug them with the supposed counter item
doesnt lash ult just completely fall off if you use it before it picks you up? thought it was any time during the dings
no?
as far as I know the actual thing you are countering is the yoink
when he clicks m1
also god graves feels like ass to play. literally just annoying but then not actually accomplishing anything oin lane or late game
whaaa
Graves is unbelievably strong lategame
her early game sucks but shes impossible to fight once shes full build
what build?
basically anyone on the enemy team could just effortlessly 1v1 me lol. no escapes and a root you can only land if THEY mess up
try to put my ult anywhere and just get caught by one guy and die
this is what i had. now not helping things of course is that often it would be a victor who wold come stop me. but like, mina, infernus, lash. just gone
deathy build in the pin
Is that spirit or gun or hybrid?
that is what i was using
I can’t check it rn
mostly gun
Oh yeah that’s insane shit on graves
you get duration and cd so that your other skills are really annoying
and then you take all their gun damage and spirit res
do i need to like blank out names if i screencap a scoreboard here
Yeah I run that, roughly
ye one of the main reason i couldnt win the 99 minute game
Actually Thanos
she didnt even really have onhit spamm damm
jesus
I don't think I've seen a Graves build unstoppable so disarm has been a great friend
obviously victor is an outlier. it's late game victor. you aren't doing shit about that. but the rest of this. deeply frustrating.
all the b uilds if yo uare curious
we were playing 4v5 for like 50 minutes
we had their second patron at like half health
but no way to end
the graves was content sittring on their patron for 50 minutes
not joining fights or anything
just so we couldnt backdoor. We tried the disarm but then viktor was just buying enough time
is it just that i didn't buy enough onhit things
uuugh why didnt i buy inhi instead of curse. i'm stupid. completely forgot it has heal reduction too
having three opponents that Basically Fly doesn't help Graves' efforts
Ooh would love to see a video on all the history I missed
If anyone has any
That sounds fascinating
I completely missed 4 lane deadlock
I do sometimes still miss the old solo lanes
it was pretty mechanically intensive
current laning is way better though
solo lanes were dooooogshit
just impossible to deal with if they were better than you
I was usually better hahaha
but yes it could be very one sided and I know its better for the game this way
also the pre-game lane swaps werent always in
so you could be like, a super squishy vs mo and krill lol
i stopped playing haze because of solo lanes lmfao
I played mirage so I was usually on the good end of things lol
what does the mystic reverb debuff look like when it's on you
big red circle
is it just a circle? no icon or anything?
died like 3 times to it when i theoretically could have counterspelled it off
there should be a mystic reverb icon somewhere but I can't remember exactly without going in and doing it to me
you can sandbox it with mimic yamato
you can control bots in sandbox? huh
Make Mimic
they will buy same items and press same button as you
you can also swap control
well i can see the red ring at the feet but it is for some reason not actually affecting me with the reverb when it hits me. so idk
maybe since it's an imbue they cant use it
Good news: got a match in with Mo Krill. They're fun!
Bad news: Had people on both teams unplugging, so the whole thing was a wash
This Shiv in night shift is teaching me why they can't buff shiv
It will not keel
shiv in high level play is ridiculous
The shotgun movement alone
What the fuck does shiv do in high levels
I know an Enkidu is always kinda nutty
But I don’t know how he operates
tank, utility, fly around at lightning speed, ult
No I get that I meant the finer details that make him so good
bloodletting also crazy good when you are good at the game
The damage delay from his 3
Rage effects
The other day I heard something to the effect of "the only difference between high rank shiv and low rank shiv is movement [tech]."
Being able to schmoove properly means he becomes frighteningly lethal and hard to kill
Christ 90% of his patch history has been pure nerfs
Huh, so it’s all movement tech, that’s really interesting
I assume the damage delay is because it lets you virtually cancel like, 30% of a haze ult?
If the shiv can't schmoove, he's kind of just a guy who sometimes throws knives
And similar.
average shiv will also never fill rage. I dont think ive filled rage on him in the last 2 games. he used to be able to get it off creeps which is wild
- get rage
- fight people
- use movement tech to schmoove across the map to the next fight to keep rage going
Repeat
I like his shotgun tech
So basically Shiv relies entirely on knowing exactly how to move to ruin people’s lives as a ronin / assassin
Once you get some decent ROF, you can just turn people into paste with his alt-fire
Ya
He's he/him Mina
And being way too tough for the amount of health he's currently got
Also he's got 4k health
So I assume burst fire and hunters aura (AWOOO) is meta on him
The pompadour is his chic umbrella
The builds I've seen are mostly spirit afaik
Ok now you have me imagining he/him butch lesbian shiv
I just like Shotty of Gunne
And I’m like
Hunters aura probably, IDK burst fire. Spirit is good on him cuz the knives are real good but you wanna just be doing everything
Mina with a butch cut
going to say
not balancing around lower levels of play is, in my opinion & experience, a faiiirly easy way to kill a game.
He/him Mina and his nonbinary theythemfriend with frogs
Accidentally ran into a neat combo (in streetus brawlitus) of Radiant Regen and Healing Tempo for busted RoF and speed
if something is too strong at low levels of play, it can and will cause issues for players at low levels, and can make them not want to play the game.
i want to play shiv in street brawl
now the question is, who gets that treatment
he's very strong in brawl
i think doorman is lovely in terms of balance-ability
surprisingly easy to start using and not terribly
I legitimately think balancing a character by making them intentionally harder to play is valid, and this could be applied to Graves, but I think that players might react badly to characters being intentionally made harder to play???
just try to throw the bell in people's general direction, and shoot it if they're in the circle
graves is probably the easiest character in the game currently. i'm not reallyy familiar with low level balance or whatever?
his difficulty increases as people learn to dodge it better, as you learn to door properly, etc
mostly just wanted to bring up that balance at the bottom half of the skill bracket still matters >.>
his ult is easy, but i presume in higher levels you need to learn the priorities of who to book
shiv will always be strong because of the knives honestly
it's mostly knives & the dash partial resets, I think? Slice & Dice still does 700 damage per cast or similar.
unsure exactly. I think at higher levels it largely just gets used as a pick ult.
rblghbglh had someone in a game keep yelling at me for Baronessing their tank, because 'it did no damage' and no friend it's to give us time to kill the Paige he was hanging out with
Doorman gets on someone who is moderately out of position, give time for his allies to set up on them.
yyeaah, doorman's ult just removing people from the fight is good
bruh i play refresherman sometimes specifically to troll in teamfights
it's INCREDIBLY mental to have to deal with getting booked every other minute
in the recent Night Shift the team made the mistake of climbing out of midboss together and Slice and Dice killed three of them
yeah that sounds about right
also like seriously, it's really good as an execute
I should play shiv
the reset is just really strong, and it does 700+ damage if he's got the enrage
because a bell + door deals like, 800+ damage
movement fans should play shiv
he also has a really satisfying skill shot in knives
I also think Shiv eats nerfs because a lot of Shiv players tend to be pretty good though.
very fun hero
but idk for sure.
I still catch myself going 'so these are like 18% weaker knives, huh'
We're always gonna eat the balance alive
as they do 900 damage to me
Apollo does too much damage. Therefore we should nerf Shiv.
mhm! Knife damage stacks up
if you've ever played against a movement octane in apex, you know why good movement is insufferable
they dropped the impact damage and the stacking damage some
it's still a lot if he hits you with all the knives.
but deadlock is cruel too with movement
if you get 3 knives and a decay on you your ass is grass
love u dispel magic
blessed item
268.5 w/ 100 spirit, so 500 damage
so yeah 700
divine barrier is goated
I should learn Warden
it is the best support 6400 in general and the second best on doorman
I will however insist that it isn't super strong.
it's just like... it's the only thing which does what it does, and you want what it does.
it'd be nice if the shield itself was more impactful late game i feel
but it's still a very good item.
its okay you got a crush you dont gotta play it down
a
damn thats lovely
love is beautiful
you should. it takes 1 game :3c
You just throw flasks at people and shoot em?
Flasks, Put people in Jail, Change da Worl
only hard parts of his kit are landing the snare without KD and ulting and both of those are solved by "just wait a little longer" usually
a little restraint goes a long way
Goober Holliday
but binding word can also just say fuck off if youre getting aggrod on
@feral umbra @ivory reef @vast sandal @undone galleon Who's gaming in 58 minutes?
its very cool! are they in the server?
cant do today unfortunately
Don't think they're here
<@&1277035919182008330> Anyone else want to play some stacked deadlock in ~55 minutes?
They are not here no
summon them and they will give you everything you wanted and more
I wanna game more but I'm tired. Alas!
what's the current stack size?
At least 4
@verbal rock Also has himself as available a bit later
sadly i have meetings
Tonight I might be a bit later than I have down.
the meeter
sfine, roll up if were still gaming
“Will it Krill” was right there man
All righty chatroom
Will it Mo
The fighting games to Deadlock pipeline is so real, just put parries and they'll come awandering
I hit my EVO moment parry last night actually when both enemy laners dived me under tower and went for heavy melee and I stunted on them into a double kill for their greed
VC: https://discord.gg/hpFh5x3J
Party Code: PFFMT
I got a good sleep earlier hmmm is there still space in the stack?
Seems like at least one spot rn
i'm technically around but if folks are around don't wanna steal with my nontalky ways
yeag i was wondering where vc was
We're in a group dm since someone off server we playing with
ahh
Lunatic will invite you
yall still have space?
During that last fight against viktor where i couldnt kill him it was because my spellslinger made my reload so fast i was missing the active reload timing and choking cus of it lmao
not used to having both at one time
anyway great stacking yall
spellslinger ginnis...
lol
I was playing warden so the perfect timing bar is like half of the reload graphic at max stacks
Ye was a super fun time! Can't wait for more
Next stack is <t:1771711200:f> and the following folks pitched their name in: AIM, Vero, Lokyos, Aurelia, Lunatic Blue, gunkGobbo
I wont be there, but yall should be able to get to 6 again!
I won't be there for the next 2 saturdays actually cus I have a lot lined up this month, but could one of ya @merry verge @finite grotto @plain furnace coordinate it?
oh are ya oce/sea?
sorry you said to sign you up for the NA stacks (which there are technically 2 of) haha so I put you on today and sat
I'll take you off the list for that time
nw im down for it lol
im getting up early that day anyways for workout reasons lol
lesgoo
I found out recently that cus of daylight savings time there are some places in the southern hemisphere which end up like 3 hours behind my time zone PST (next day) during winter here lol
dst is so whack
my province has already voted to abolish it
as soon as all our American neighbours do the same (((((::::
which means its never happenin
given everything we know now about how shitty it is for people adopting it now would be legit unhinged
in fairness there seems to be a wide global appetite for harmmaxxing
was playing as drifter in ponytown and found doorman, they were chill
turning the two most evil deadlock characters into cute horses lol
Ok wow that is adorable though
What the fuck was that comeback
Average Silver moment
pov you just watched your life flash before your eyes
if you don't literally manta dodge that crossbow bolt you literally just get executed right then and there
that was genuinely frame perfect
if I was that venator I would have just logged off
oh i didn't notice that
yeah that's very funny
i just assumed he missed tbh
though i pushed eshift specifically to dodge that.
well it looks like a miss but idk, between server ticks and the projectile size I can imagine it hitting you and preventing this clip altogether
either way: owned owned owned owned owned owned lmao owned owned owned
convinced they could set silver max hp to 1 and shed still go 30-3/lh
this troll warlord ass attack animation I can't
it's literally drifter's attack animation
the immense attack speed buff just makes it way more comical
like it doesn't look like it's rendering correctly
is there like an innately increasing attack speed on it or is that an item?
just innately, kinetic dash alone doesn't explain it
Silver gets up to +a lot% attack speed stacking per hit
during her lycan curse tf at least
She gets stacking attack speed on hit
In wolf form
called lycan curse
actually more like ursa
are valve stupid?
It's very funny that she just doesn't have her own animations yet
yeaaa
i love how the last frame is an apollo called men enjoyer diving into the frame
IIRC she uses Seven's animations in human form,
yeaa, 7's animations in human form, drifters while lycan
i didn't even notice that >.>
it's incredibly funny to me that of all the people to have the gay little cartwheel as their dash animation it's yeehaw misato and super magic satan
inexplicable pep
I gotta get my ass to the competence threshold and start playing the game for real
I think Billy has a tidy room but he would never let anyone see it
Billy strikes me as the type who would actually try to be a good roommate but is also a rambunctious loud asshole
he'd do the dishes and clean up but he'd also get pissed and shout in the other room
While I agree on a macro level, I think playing tight and punishing overextensions and greed works well too
So. A sibling.
He’s a fucking sibling.
Like, loud asshole who will give you the finger if you say “hey can you grab my phone for me it’s in my room” but then he’ll give you your phone 30 seconds later
yeah
I think Billy would be clean but an asshole to guests you bring
yeah he'd be a dickhead about having your friends over
Also I feel like he’s the kinda guy who you can just give a 6 pack and he’d shut up about your friends
I can see either interpretation, fair
Billy also is implied to know black magic
which is crazy
Only difference between you and me is that I never got arrested for doin' some black magic, cause I'm not a moron leaning over his skis!
on Seven kill
...huh??
You think you're special because you got eldritch power? Newsflash, buddy, where do you think the goat head came from?
same
ah, right.
All the heroes are wizards of some sort
true but I find Billy being knowledgeable in the dark arts particularly funny
my goat hood came from being the boat
naw billy absolutely the type of guy to do like, satanic rituals in his bedroom
id join in ffs
But would he clean up after?
the anarchist pays taxes, what do you think
chat I'm feeling real low, feels like all I'm doing as Doorman is ulting people out of fights and getting killed
like once or twice I get the cool Vortex Web cart multi-stun
tbh most anarchists do their taxes these days
idk, maybe I'm just letting K-D-A and metrics get me down, Doorman doesn't get a ton of souls or rack up crazy scores so I'm usually bottom of my team's leaderboard
People Billy will pick fights with: Vampires, various arch-wizards
People Billy will not pick a fight with: Revenuers
that being said, billy probly cleaned up just so the cops wouldnt catch him
when in doubt, pivot
it's a game, do things that spark joy
also tbf, ulting people out of fights is real strong
no see I still like playing Doorman, it's just that afterwards it's like "oh right there's no points for making a teamfight-winning opening play with Vortex Web -> stunning half the team with cart, ulting on transformed Silver and then dying"
I'm still like 3/8/11 with 34k souls
yeag it just sounds like focus on metrics being an issue
I like Doorman and Paradox, they do big shit for their team, but also it’s kinda exhausting to play supports who don’t put numbers on the board because that’s the summary of who cooked and who didn’t at the end of the game lol
Paradox isnt getting most kills OR most assists because you’re extremely likely to fucking die making the fight-winning play and swapping into absolute bedlam
ngl i barely maintain a 1.0 KDR
I can do that.
I'm even availble 2 hours earlier @merry verge @finite grotto if that's cool with you
and then the third character I play is Wraith, and odds are by the time she comes online the game's already over
you know if you cooked or not, you don't need data for that
I kinda don't actually
like I could hyperfocus on scoring 5-man cart stuns but if those stuns don't convert into a meaningful play afterwards did I really accomplish anything
bad news is as a support the numbers don't really tell a full story
thresh why are you magic couple
just how many souls up were you, jeez
I CAN BOLT ANYTHING
honestly the more impressive stuff was me putting our lane opponents in the trash over and over and over and over again
how much fucking damage was that
thats gotta be at least 2.7k right
I was under the impression sinclair wasn't very good
how does that 1 work
slightly janky everything
the few sinclairs i met were like, bottom frag
it takes longer for you to shoot out of slide than every single other character in the game
damn.
just inexplicable +1s gap
this has been in the game since the character's release
and then also having to go for the cheeky Gains Goblin Grab
Rubicking someone with Sinclair is a lot more straightforward than having to time it when they cast their ult but the positioning can be finicky
all of that and tbh I still don't even think I'm 60% of the way to everything the character does yet
in particular I'm really bad at playing around the assistant swap for jukes
I want someone to love me half as much as thresh loves sinclair
I don't even particularly like the character because of how clunky they are rn
that and I don't really play nukers
They will never be ballin'
viscous ult stolen
Uh oh
it does feel violently good to just gap someone though
it's a really nice aim exercise
initial shot follows their current path, then on reaction, flick to where they dash
wet fart noise
wetter fart noise
...
the graves oneshot
"I don't really play nukers"
I don't like it!
you'd think I, the crackheadiest crackhead would play Celeste or Lash basically all the time
nope
don't enjoy it
I'm really fucking bad at being gay
what do you like to play
m1
you use your mouse to aim the circles on the ground and then you also aim the big circle with the mouse
makes sense to me
thresh is a head clicker
I have seen you click heads
you are literally bouncing around non stop and your bullets have shit bullet speed
there are witnesses
you are telling me that is a m1?
I am not very skillful at clicking heads
yes!!
where.
you also get mild autoaim
if I find them with their heads clicked
isnt her bullet growth shit?
you are done
she has ginormous on-hit damage on her 1
again
I want to like lash more but he's an asshole
bullet growth?
...irrelevant?
yes!!
Celeste is a character who shoots you with her gun to kill you. She also does damage with a bunch of other things, but her gun is going to be chunky.
