rebuttal game and that is how abram only came out of that fight with 13 deaths
Im pretty sure 4 of them came out of laning phase
please take me out of wood elo
I definitely feel bad about doing no damage in all my games but on the other hand it's because I'm spending 20% of my life just pushing
and that's good enough for me
can't win games if no one pushes
uh did that update just glitch all the throwables so it lands on you?
haze apparently had a small glitch where her knife wouldn't throw a knife
the vin said her 1 and 3 weren't working in my game. I bough alch fire and it would only throw on myself
yeah some shit was bork
it wouldn't surprise me if like
they fucked up and accidentally forgot to make projectiles ignore their caster's collision hulls
so you would try to throw alc fire, it would immediately collide with your hitbox and then shatter on you
vindicta would throw 1 or 3 and it would immediately disintegrate, likewise haze
I demand 1000 premium bucks in compensation
🥕
where's my lunacy?
*currency
lunashi*
here
oh my god
dynamo is so often so suffering
but
sometimes you hit the god ult on rejuv and win the game 50k down
WHEN YOU GET THE 3 MAN ULTS
I'M DOIN IT
it was at this moment
nearly 1 hour game because my team didn't know how to deal with fern or seven
this guy is indeed pure evil
lot of fun
doors are fucking janky though
hard to get used to
placement will hopefully be ironed out because high-apm door gameplay is so much fun
it's just too janky to feel fluid in the chaos of teamfights
ring a ding ding baby
the bell feels real good to use
I set up a lot of picks by just running up to people and ulting them
I suck at belling people but part of that do be latency issues
it's so upsetting in lane
I thought he would be unplayable because of how bad his gun is at securing but the sheer damage bell does in lane is almost yamato-tier
if the slow/bloom effect lasted any longer it would actually just be yam 1 and 3 on a single charged ability
it's huge yeah
bell 1 and 2 might be up there for the best lane upgrades in the game
Bell?
doormans first ability. he chucks a slow moving bell that sits there for a few seconds then explodes. it deals damage on impact and when exploding it deals damage and slows. you can blow it up early by shooting it. the aoe is large and the damage is good
Ah that one
going to lane with Mina:
M: "Why didn't you change after work?"
D: "I did!"
M: "That's the same thing you wear at work."
D: "Yes, but this one's freshly pressed."
pure evil
he's just evil kenneth parcell
I also hear Paige might be cracked
Vindicta calls Billy "Good little boy"
expect that sound byte to be used (malicious)
Also there are people theoryzing that Billy and Paige are siblings
HIVE
BRING A SWORD
SAM REICH?????!!!!
wait, "all along", not "the whole time"
18m?????
the humble puddle punch:
The certified get the fuck out of my camps hero
his 2 has no max range
you can always teleport behind them if they are bleeding
i mean the projectile itself
its pretty slow though
doubt
I mean he talks about shiv like "an old friend"
he's a fucking dbd killer
genuinely just a fuck you if you get caught out of position lmao
can't be worse than m&k or doorman ults
Hunters Mark feels damn near impossible to hit
It's like the size of a Paige auto and twice as slow
so like cold front speed
its def smthn u have to more careful abt
it turns out that if you're in woodlo you match up really poorly into a character whose entire thing is "I'm going to kill you for having bad macro"
its not a shiv knife
I don't like his passive
Like it's just kinda
way too subtle to give good information
i dont understand slowing bullets
why would anyone buy this over
opening rounds
or kinetic dash
or backstabber
it's kinda shitty right now
pretty much any hero that might want it would rather get point blank anyway
or if you need the slow pick up hex / cold front
it should eat a stamina on full proc
you should tell yoshi that
it would be a bit of a Kevin moment wouldn't it
good video

God I'm so good at Holiday
isnt mystic slow like WAY better right now than that?
like
and Mystic slow turns into lightning scroll, which depending on who you buy it, its great CC
the characters who would want to buy mystic slow are not the characters who would want to buy slowing bullets
mystic slow definitely in a better place than slowing, but hex is the same slow as slowing bullets with a silance and cold front is a 60% slow
its super deserved but im sad that CF is only 6% spirit resist now
Mo and Krill player tried running his mouth to me
buddy, I main him, he's the easiest character in the game
Deadlock is an amazing game so full of intricate craftsmanship that does it's absolute damndest to make you forget it's still a moba and thus carries an evil curse that summons a worm into your heart that wraps around your soul and whispers hatred for all the creatures of earth into your core
official deadlock review
i love being put in lower elo games on new characters!
i made the terrible mistake of losing my first game on him
phhh
i throw kudzu
i get gun
but like
is there anything about her other abilities i should knowww abouuut
Make sure you are leashing your most powerful Weapon Damage ally
your stone form heals you
stone form is also i frames
you can dodge with it
healing nova is really nice w/tether
ult you can pick up your allies but you really only wanna do this when they have the urn, you need to get to a fight, or you are tryting to get out of one
if you throw kudzu at the wave right as it lands on the guardian it can kill the whole wave
elbow dropping dynamo in black hole with stone form is peak ivy gaming
trans gun?
What te fuck?
darklock
bruh first game ever is against a pocket
what the fuck do i do
(im lash)
like, bruh
Why am I always stuck with the single cell organism teammates?
Doesn't matter what I say or do, they never learn
average gamer
pocket is really difficult to pin down and kill
you usually want some kind of silence to deal with them or else punish overconfidence on their part
like in general? it kind of depends
sometimes you can nuke someone in 3 seconds, other times the fight drags on for a minute straight
hit and run
i mostly get up high, slam people, fuck off for a few secs if i dont die first because its pocket being a fuckin bitc-
you get the idea
i mean yeah just hit and run and position better
you can turn pocket to dust because they have an inherent -spirit resist, and you're generally a little more able to sustain in an active fight than they are because your 3 heals you
but if you're getting focussed by enemy mina, on the ground to get hit by paige ult and then pocket hits you with barrage 6 times and arctic blast you are probably standing in the wrong spot
well there's nothing to go off of in a contextless damage screenshot
they just kinda appeared outta nowhere tbh
I guess I could tell you "buy armor against the damage type you are dying more to" but that's not really that helpful
honestly it feels weird when youre brand new and barely know your controls and are fighting against people who know how to play 10x better than you
the main way to avoid getting jumped by the enemy team is constantly checking your minimap
if they're all off-radar don't push past the halfway point unless you're extremely confident you can get out one way or another
it might just be easier to play bot matches for the first few games because the new player MMR is incredibly janky
if you're not familiar with your controls I think that's first and foremost the thing you should be working on lol
pocket is one of the most "buy silence" heros in the game
I mean if there's anyone who can go annoying mobility burst hero for annoying mobility burst hero with pocket
it is The Lash
but feeding the pocket 3x barrage amp stacks is no bueno
do you mean the god of combat?
very very no good
when Pocket opens the case and starts shooting the little boba tea pearls at you, each time they hit a hero they get a damage buff to everything
this is a whopping 10% per hit at max level
and each time they cast a skill they get 4 hits
so yknow
you'll get pasted if you let them splash you
in lane learn to double jump out of the way when they cast it, getting one stack is fine (only 6% then) and they need to land a direct on a really fiddly projectile if you're in the air
i usually jump up and right and dash left or vice versa and it dekes them pretty good
yuh
soldier tf2 rules
the hero in general specializes in doing a shitton of burst spirit damage over and over again, as well as juking the hell out of you with their teleport and on-demand invuln
buy spirit shielding early to suddenly gain +500 health when they do their combo, makes it way harder for them to trade with you profitably and you can fucking paste them if you're a caster yourself
lategame I am begging the team to buy debuff remover even if you can't outright cleanse the ult anymore, but spellbreaker will do a lot to stop you being being spirit nuked, you can buy divine barrier if you're really insistent on being able to cleanse their ult, and there's always curse if you want to just turn them to dust
just make you sure you've baited out suitcase or your 40-second curse has traded for "jack shit"
guardian angel is goated btw and not enough people buy it
it's a pretty good item, I think people mostly just forgot about buying that class of items because hard support fell off a cliff
but there's a good class of characters that enjoy it
paige is the obvious newcomer that likes it
just checking the wiki page it doesn't scale with spirit unlike e.g. reactive, but 200 extra HP early outta nowhere can ruin people's lives
as a yamato player there is nothing sadder than tower diving someone and then paige force-feeds them thirty golden apples and I die
my fault
I like it on doorman too
door shields are INSANE
yeah it's like 500? what?
could you imagine if the old spirit barrier gave you spirit bonus while you had a shield existed alongside doorman holy 😭
he's already moving like oppenheimer in most of my games
one thing I want to try more of is Veilwalker because people are seeming to come back around on that item
but it's just not the same when you're not gaining +1600 ehp on warden with fleetfoot enduring speed surge of power all stacked up......... it's just not the same
drifter's build pathing is shockingly flavorful lol
toxic bullets procs on ONE shot with him
backstabber is crazy useful
I was testing it in the range and I got insta-proced but it could've been fixed in a patch idk
maybe the hideout has different rules but something was fucked lol
if that's how it's intended to work 💀
some day they'll do something about toxic bullets but it won't be today
anti tank items could be fixed by building tanky being made less strong
basically all of their anti-tank items just kind of incidentally make existing as a low-health character the most frustrating thing on the planet
yeah man sure tankbuster does true damage now. why not
its like straight up the best damage item in the game for it's souls cost
toxic? yeah that item is infinite damage glitch
tankbuster is pretty good also dgmw but I can't think of a single other item that's so absolutely omnipresent
they're both cracked atm
I forget, does it work on obj
I assume not in my valuation of it but if it does lol lmao
I LOVE SPIRIT SNATCH RAAAHHH
that's exclusively a fuck you to viscous
no other "deals melee damage" spell has that
if cali slash could be parried she would be so much less intolerable
likewise bebop uppercut
Alright Drifter is a damn ton of fun when he gets going
Being behind is immeasurably terrible though
ah so like yamato/shiv
https://www.reddit.com/r/DeadlockTheGame/s/gGZAjhsr5C you can use drifters tp on camp minions
I will say it's nice he can still contribute with his ult in team fights by comparison, behind on Yamato feels like throwing yourself into a brick wall
And doesn't feel quite as omnipotent as Shiv back in his era
that iiiis not at all my experience
"what if Shiv had perma rage and the requirement was that his target wasn't pressed right up against someone else, and also he could crossmap teleport"
They could prob just straight up remove the bonus damage to isolated targets
He scales with everything
HP scaling also real high
28% damage amp for breathing (TWENTY EIGHT PERCENT), tanky as shit, massive damage output even against targets in a teamfight, half the game against him is spent with him killing one guy who's a little off to the side and then also the guy who looks at the map and tries to rotate for a 2 for 1
Maybe remove the base bonus on his passive keep just 15% for the third rank
who is our boy?
driftah
Yeah his fire anims are a lil jank
I am glad that my expectation for how Drifter would play out is proving to be true
In that every game Drifter is either 20 and 1 or 1 and 20
With barely any in between
shiv 2
Shiv if he was allergic to team fighting
Doorman is so much fun
The saving grace of him even when he's ahead is he has zero defensive moves and zero way to leave a losing fight
I really wish they fix the door jank though
multiple times I've died trying to place a door on a COMPLETELY FLAT SURFACE
drifter's damage seems a bit silly right now though
though I haven't laned against him much
So most experiences I have with him snowballing is him coming 8 and 0 out of lane with like
Gun buff
If he had zero damage he'd then have zero anything tbh. It's his one move
finally
They removed Drifter from the game 🙏
after 25 hours
he really is the yasuo of deadlock
28/3/2 or 0/15/3
call it
Just a lil KhazixWarwickNocturneBloodseeker
Well that's just a minor nerf
Glad for the Billy chain adjustment, truly felt like I was around two corners and it'd still be like 'hey'
- Drifter: Weapon damage per boon reduced from 0.693 to 0.55
- Drifter: Weapon base fire rate slowed by 5% (partial base damage compensation, but primarily an overall nerf)
- Drifter: Health per boon reduced from 43 to 41
- Drifter: Rend T3 Bullet Lifesteal reduced from 55% to 45%
- Drifter: Bloodscent T3 Amplified damage reduced from +13% to +11%
most of those nerfs are like, 10%~ average
sounds about right, lol
yeah, 2 20% nerfs (bloodscene + rend, if my math is right), 2 5% nerfs, 1 10% nerf
i cant say how bad it is cuz i dont play him (yet)
youve played for like two days I think there might be a lot of obstacles to accurate evaluation here
lol i know
Just going to hope they keep the nerfs primarily to Gun Damage Drifter, spirit more fun
I finally activated my code from last year yesterday, and goddamn am I ass lol
Lowest damage on the team as fuckin infernus
I've spent too long playing single player fps games with bullet magnetism, idk shit about actually aiming anymore
prolly not enough but decent
60% for first day is just insane
Wait, what happens if you somehow steal all of an enemy's HP?
yknow I've just never thought about a situation where that could happen
like would you need eight people all shooting a level 0 haze with siphon bullets
if you end up below 0 max hp you can't die lmao
new strat
Shedinja Manuevers
yeah i have 0 clue how this game works
something a jojos character would use to win a fight
Every drifter I’ve had in my past few games has been a non-issue but I chalked that up to new character adjustment, was he really that oppressive?
between bad MMR and woodlo games having just burning-trashfire macro, yes
plastic bag rank gamers are already positioning extremely poorly without team support for no reason
I ran into the most cracked viscous and Holliday this past weekend and I’m like initiate 2? I have no idea what this games ranking system means anymore
I was Oracle 5 when there was a ranked queue and then had to stop playing for a bit to IRL commitments, nothing makes sense anymore and I can’t tell if I’m in dirt elo or not
which means this guy gets shiv rage+++ for existing and can insta-nuke them, then when a teammate spots what's happening 30 seconds after poor fucker 1 gets jumped they also get blenderized
I don't know what he was like in eternus but if the one player with hands in the lobby got him in my shitlo games it was pretty much lights-out
Ooof
I feel like that’s Yamato, except my team’s Yamato always huffs paint and qualuudes and the other team’s Yamato is a Demigod of micro
I should force myself to play her until I figure it out but I’m gonna lose like 99% of those games I think
Do you all do comps here? I’d be down with playing with others, I normally solo drop
tried vindicta
yeah this isnt my type of character
her sniper is too high of magnification for me
lash is still my favorite
I am from oce but my regular stack is all usians so I'm used to 200pinglife
does a match have a time limit
everyone here is so ass at living that it takes forever to do anything
its really boring with 30-something minute matches as standard
no and welcome to uncoordinated play
god
i mean 30 minutes isn't even that long for a moba anyway
yeah i dont play mobas is the thing
Yeah fastest I’ve ever had 16 minutes and that was a total rout
its 40 already
but people in low ranks are awful at taking obj or winning the game
you'll see like 25 minute games in pro play where at 16 minutes they get a couple of good picks in an urn fight, all do mid, sweep a couple walkers because their wave state is immaculate then win the game off the accumulated tempo
Yeah that’s what drove the gun meta previously as I understand it
because they removed the -spirit resist the pendulum's swung back where now most casters can power-clear objectives
most characters in general honestly can chunk the shit out of objectives now
Well that explains my luck on Wraith and Seven
in fairness I don't think there's been a single patch where wraith and seven weren't nuking obj
that's like their entire thing
Fair
wraith 3 + heroic aura would randomly just kill walkers at ten minutes once upon a time
yeah it also just feels like you either die too fast or too slow all the time
ttk is based heavily on relative worth and also the average player is going to have a 20% accuracy on an ability with a hitbox the size of the sun
Yeah you gotta learn to aim for the heads on gun shots or just hit your skill shots
the second player is me somehow whiffing power slash against someone who doesn't appear to have bound movement keys
but it's like seeing people call apex a slow ttk game, tuning into pro play and watching people getting instantaneously oneclipped
apex is medium-paced for me
Yeah that’s coming from CoD people who think sub half second ttk is ‘slow’
i mean they're not wrong if point of reference is csgo
its also a lot easier to play apex for some reason
you got me there
So yeah I’m an EST player but I work third shift and live like a vampire, I’ll ping you next time I start dropping if you’re okay fighting the ping
only problem is that with one US one OCE it's a 50/50 which server you end up on
i have no clue if i like deadlocked or not
It takes a bit to click I’ve found
The vibes and polish kept me interested until it clicked for me but I also had years of LoL experience to help too
polish is very funny considering the running joke among my friend group is that it just now started feeling like a video game in the newest major update
so far the only characters ive liked are doorman and lash
but in-game it has always felt really good
pressing a movement key in a source engine game feels like eating a fresh piece of bread
Both of whom are characters with skill floors and ceilings way higher than I can manage to use
As a Lash player I assure you that isn’t true, just build Majestic Leap and Trophy Hunter
Actually just build trophy hunter on everyone until you get the hang of things
It works on kills too
Are you aware of the Lash Maneuver
I’m REALLY bad
I have 0 experience in MOBA style games
And 0 experience in 3rd person shooters
I’m not shit at Apex style games though
Ah
Yeah I’d maybe go find some Lash guides, one of them will have explanations for the lash maneuver for sure
I'm baseline sus of trophy collector but even on characters where it's reasonable, if you're new your map positioning is gonna be way too poor to reliably stack it even a little
lash maneuver?
Yeah I seriously only know 2 things about MOBAs:
- Zeri lightning
- Faker clip
That’s about it
yeah trophy collector you have to get early and stack early for it to actually give you good value
I think literally the only thing I knew about mobas was a repressed one hour stint on league and dota and then patience from zhou
When I played with my friend I just pressed buttons and due to the game having mostly tiny kids on early servers I actually wasn’t dogshit
I have 2600 hours on dota 2 😔
I’m used to matches of 10-20 minutes max
Even in apex it doesn’t get too fatiguing since most of it is running around
But I played arenas when it was there
Think it’s funny
It was hated by everyone else apparently
It was the single best game experience I’ve had for a long time
Just felt so damn good playing pathfinder and flying to heal shields before popping back in with an R301 to nuke them and chasing them down when they run to heal
And titanfall’s grapple just doesn’t feel the same to me
Use the sideline buildings early in landing to add comical damage to dive kick
Yeah so far Lash is the only one I like and I genuinely don’t know how regularly I’m supposed to get kills or the like
Sorry I was wing walking a plane; but basically using the fact you’re shoved up to chunk two to three hundo off of people and retreat
If you get two people with it that’s a huge life loss; if you do it twice in a row and they don’t retreat to heal, you can usually follow up with a kill
Huh
ahh like
corner boosting and stuff
Yeah you will need to practice the kinetic dash thing and wall jumping
Yeah I’m also not like, used to playing enough to want to use CB stuff
But when you do that you can use that knowledge on other characters as well
And Arcane Surge exists to make that dive kick even more dangerous
I start doing it as soon as I buy extra stamina and spirit burst
That shit gets out of hand so fast and it’s core damage for lash
in time it will come to you
I also never see heavy melee being used in my games
the shmoovement™
Does parry block other stuff?
no
I think just Viscous goo fist
Unless you get Counterspell
you can parry goo fist?
JUST goo fist apparently
I don’t see why I’d use parry most of the time then
Counterspell lets you parry the next damaging attack
Nobody ever uses it, as far as I see
it's mostly against like heavy melee
It puts a large stun on someone and causes that person to take 50% more damage so I mean
Like 4 seconds of stun
It’s a death sentence in Lane usually
Parry is useful but like
yeah
Also this
This isn't bad necessarily, just you're gonna feel really out of place
Movement and map and accuracy should be a focus for now until you can consistently survive your lane with cash in hand, imo
IMO the best thing to do right now is to focus on bot matches and creep score
The only issue I have with like, bot matches is they’re really fucking boring
Eh you can do live matches if you want, still should focus on CS tho
What even is creep score
Honestly I don’t even know if I don’t know the basics because there’s like, no information in the game about what I need to learn
yeeeeh kinda figured you might at that point, I looked back when you first asked about getting into it and realized I didn't have a good reference guide on hand
but uhh
Like, in a game like, idk, Valorant, it’s pretty clear how you play really fast
It’s mostly getting used to mechanics at first
This game feels super team oriented too
Way more than games like Overwatch which are also team oriented
so MOBAs exist in a lot of different ways but usually have some reoccuring mechanics, a popular reoccuring mechanic is creep score
it's usually the primary way of earning money/exp without kills and is the main focus of farm-orientated characters.
Creep score is when you kill a minion, you're usually attributed gold/xp for killing that specific minion, instead of just letting it die, in Deadlock, this is done through securing souls, which are the little orbs that pop-out when minions die
Deadlock has advanced CS mechanics known as Denying which is taking creep score away from your opponent by "denying" it. In some games like dota you kill your friendly minions so the opponent doesn't get the creep score, in Deadlock you steal the souls by shooting them before your opponent does, with the caveat you should be aware of, that when the opponent kills your friendly minions, they have a slight advantage to getting the soul when it comes to securing it/denying it
if you don't secure it, and the opponent doesn't deny it, you get the soul anyway IIRC
but you want to secure souls because it's a good way to warm up and keep your aim decently locked in between fights
other aspects of creep score are usually not directly tied to killing creeps but map/situational awareness with how lanes/waves push on each side and what that means
EG if your opponent is fumbling their aim and you kill all their minions before they kill yours, all your minions will now attack them until they get far enough away that the minions go for their tower instead
so usually for people you kill the minions then harass enemy laners to get them at lower HP and force them to back or low enough that you kill them
even if you don't kill them, forcing them to back means they have to spend time away from lane, which means they can't defend against a tower push, or more important in early game, they can't get creep score
which is where if an enemy leaves lane and it's super early, you might just want to focus on hitting minions only when they're about to die instead of just mowing them down, cause it keeps the wave closer to the center point, so it isn't sitting under tower when they come back and they can harass you almost for free (cause if you attack the enemy laner while under tower, the tower attacks you)
but also you might wanna leave lane anyways to refresh your health and buy items or w/e, so you push the wave into the tower and leave to go do that
or you go gank another lane, or go get jungle
I believe so
granted I don't think it's a dedicated jg role atm, it's mainly just, you get jg as you have the time
which is how snowballing can occur
cause if you go like, 3/0 in lane and are a big threat to the enemy laners, you can shove the wave into their tower, leave, do jungle and get the jungle farm while they're dealing with the creep wave at the tower, or you can go gank another lane or w/e
What’s jungle again?
Jungle is for people moving between lanes so they can get farm I think
It’s not like a hard role
any place that isn't a lane
That’s the side critters in the buildings and rooftops and such
well tbf, that's prob not the technical pro way of describing it, but
as a usual jg main, anything that isn't the lane is the jg to me
and IMO it's good for me to tell people that because then they put the map into two big categories, lanes or jg
There’s also boxes and urns as other cash sources but all three of these things give you ‘unsecured’ souls; if you die, you drop them for someone else to get but will slowly secure themselves over time
and if I go "well junglers usually sit in the jg" then that means they can be literally right outside your lane eyeballing you with dinner plate eyes
Or go away if you spend them
actually question
did you ever play valorant ranked
might also not be a bad idea to just do quick 1v1 lane scrim to just get vibes that way
Oooo yeah going to sandbox and just practicing lane against someone isn’t a terrible idea
Maybe there is a custom lobby to do it, too
where did you place?
Wasn’t good at it mostly because I don’t aim well
ahh gotcha
I think my peak was… silver?

I've had more fun with Deadlock than I've had with any other game in years so today I'm shooting my shot and trying to turn this into a new path for my Youtube channel. I'll be covered the game from here on out starting with this beginner guide to Valve's new game. I'll have an advanced movement guide coming up tomorrow (or the day after) and wi...
like, medical condition tremors or like, you play a bit and you get tremors from fatigue?
Long time ago
Not sure but I have them all the time
Somewhat minor though, not so much it gets in the way
I mean there's kovaaks to really practice aiming but it's prooob boring as heck and also vastly unnecessary for deadlock
I just need to react to enemy positions faster and I usually don’t miss too hard at close range
ahh situational awareness
that's largely game knowledge but also just like
practice voluntarily checking your minimap
In siege and the like it was a little easier to feel it
I like siege, but it’s horrible to play, part due to cuz it crashes 24/7
There’s a Roblox game I like because I’m usually very middle to higher up in a lobby
siege has changed a lot and unless it's got you properly placed MMR it's prob very chaotic
i have no idea how heroes like dynamo are supposed to avoid chasers like drifter or bebop
feels like your only options are to either stick to your teammates or get yanked off a zipline and wombo combo'd in 3 seconds
1v1 or 1v2?
1v1, i know he has the atom ability but it takes 7 years to travel
i've been messing with mcginnis, ivy, and dynamo so far, and all of them eat shit if a yamato or billy or drifter get some momentum in the early game feels like
well ivy's alright cause she has so much stamina tbh
How much does Ivy have?
she starts with....4 i think?
pretty sure she and vyper are the highest stam characters, vyper can go up to 6 or something
i haven't even tried lash, but the hardest team ganks i've ever seen were from a lash that knew what they were doing
Idk about billy or drifter but yamato can almost guaranteed kill you if they're ahead and you have no mobility
but tbf back when I played yamato
I would just ult and like, deep dive and kill 2 people before being stopped
that wasn't even a dynamo/mcginnis thing, guy was winning 1v5s and shit
yeah i tried abrams and i have no idea how the Melee Mindset is supposed to work
cause you get shredded on the approach so hard
abrams was early game bully last I played
and he had a 5 foot terror radius akin to dead by daylight
yeah he has a health drain ability
Also, the electric ult guy is really annoying when he does it
still, his gun is so inaccurate that i couldn't lane effectively without sticking my face out and getting peppered by the enemy. it's just something to get used to i guess
Esp if he comes out of nowhere in the middle of a fight
i've never been turboganked by seven tbh, the big electricity ball mostly just means 'don't push this lane for the next 3 minutes' to me
i did alright with infernus in a few rounds too but he's the most easymode character seems like
just find a good build and hold m1
my jungling is awful is the thing, i'm always bottom or near-bottom of my team in terms of souls. idk what my priority should be between dealing with neutrals or helping push lanes
i can do okay with some characters in early laning
and in late game i honestly dunno what's happening, you just get yanked halfway across the map by five consecutive abilities and then die
So you wanna kill the goblin guys?
being bottom in terms of souls is not necessarily a jungling thing
yeah i don't really pick characters that are designed to win 1v1s so my only option is to bait out teamfights for hero souls
lanes >>> jungle but infernus can flash farm pretty quickly esp with investment on dash
thresh is 100% right yeah
yeah i've been focusing on gun builds but sprint spam seems the way to go with him
it's not about fights most of the time, if you're bottom in souls it's cause laning phase went wrong
not necessarily? i've had laning phases where i ended at a roughly equal level, we kill their guardian etc.
infernus can have a pretty good time just hanging around one sidelane and farming up there
yeah he's got excellent get-away too so he's not as threatened by assassin characters
I find it annoying how I need to have a minimum of 3 non-new characters to play
I get the logic it’s just boring when if there’s 3 people I want to play and I have to add like 2 more who I know I’ll get instead
i've had paige in my rotation all day but i've never played a match as her
I got a single doorman match last night and he was fun but I’m basically just seven and wraith
i should try seven, he also seems like a fairly noob friendly hero
I believe I was going for doorman + drifter + pocket
seven plays himself but it's nice if you just want a chill experience
very low stress hero
Wraith needs you to aim better than seven but yeah his game never really changes, shove till your fingers bleed and just kinda win
harder to lane with now that he doesnt have every good laning stat on top of monster rounds+3 but thats about it
Does mystic burst work on 3 hops
remember when he had 3.5 hps regen, sprint speed and also 800 health or sth
mystic burst would discharge on the first guy it hits so no
yeah i definitely need to start with 0-brainpower lane farmers and teamfighters at this point

ye you can pick him up very easily and there are good builds and players
i like movement
Seven and Wraith both get sprint speed scaling with Spirit and have very similar builds
dont know who has like, movement that lets you shoot well and kills decently
vyper is basically playing titanfall is you like movement builds
Well Seven can do more spirit but I basically copy my wraith build minus Tesla rounds
I love vyper but vyper doesn’t love me, I have some bad games with her
when you get fleetfoot and surge 3 on seven you can really start going absolutely ham with m1
love love LOVE fleetfoot
i cannot do flanker builds, i do not have the instinctual sense of when to push and when to fall back
also, sliding is super hard for me to get used to
100% of the time i get ganked
because there's no sprint -> slide here
Fleet and Surge of Power on Seven’s 3 is comical
im used to b-hopping
as a recovering destiny player, I spent 90% of my time in that game's pvp mode looking at the radar
Just zipping and zootin around st Mach speed shitting lightning
If you like that try Warden who is also a Scott boy
look at the minimap regularly and count to 6
as a recovering destiny player, i lose like 70% of my firefights cause i can't rely on bullet magnetism anymore
Scooty boi*
basically all that you need to do
count to 6?
oh.
you wont be able to see all of them most of the time
but it's handy to go 'oh I have vision on nobody, lemme play near the bridge' vs 'oh they're all in a teamfight on the other side of the map, I'm going to put this walker into my mouth'
in destiny there was also basically no incentive to play your life unless you were in comp or trials too
whereas here you can actually feed
yeah I play overconservatively if anything
yeah exactly, i'm good at being very, very annoying in the laning phase and basically nothing else at this point. anytime i've tried playing an initiator character it's been a disaster
initiating is hard in this game and I still don't love doing it
but that's what inting on yamato is for
i gotta get off dynamo tbh, he's not a reactive character. mcginnis is definitely more my speed
walling people out or in is lots of fun
Do you play support or blaster
Full spirit Dynamo just stomps
support mostly. i've had good luck as ivy but also infernus
if you wanna push obj solo, as good as dynamo 1 oneshotting entire waves is, ginnis can really permanently shove walker
And stomps and stomps and stomps
but yeah
yeah i gotta try a stompmaxxing dynamo sometime, that build has teeth
they did something or other with dynamo
and uh
he do be doing 400 hp per 1
also the most important thing about dynamo 1 is that it lets you farm funny ragdolls
There used to be a build called The Impregnator that I used but it’s way out of date, just pick all the big numbers and max cooldown
people just go to the moon
Yes
it's also very efficient at add clear tbh
This 100%
yeah arcane surge 1 will basically keep waves pushed on its own
if you get a range infusion item on it it can cover a ridiculous distance and it has 3-odd charges
Refresher orb and ult is very funny also
it should play the voice line when you refresher
why is victor still locked anyway btw? i thought the new heroes were all released?
theyre only doing one every other day
ahhh right
hell be out in like 13 hours
once i get a more intuitive understanding of how the map works i'll probably love doorman
btw, any suggestions on who has decently good movement (ideally not viktor), can damage decently, and is somewhat easy?
doorman is so swag people are willingly playing a pos 5
when i say dmg i mean like, can kill without team support / comms
(like lash does, apparently)
mina has some fun angles with her 2 and does a lot of damage
mina has exploditis
and yeah, lash does that for days
I wouldn't recommend her if you're going x/18 on a much faster and harder to kill character
big part of that is because like, ill be real, there's also nobody whose willing to comm
depends on what your requirements for good movement are because abrams can fucking fly but he is also generally kind of piss easy
the last time someone did, i think it was closer to like, 3/8/5 or somethign like that
which was... 1 game
it's just that he is a chunky boy outside of his shoulder charge and buying stuff like phantom strike or glorp stone to supplant that movement
which, im pretty sure lash is meant to get lots of assists, and maybe less kills?
could also try mirage
basic m1 with an invuln dash, good laning phase, can teleport to make up for positioning
idk, he was fun when i had someone tanky just holding everyone off, got to smash people and let them finish them, think someone with a gun got the last hits on them
what movement does mirage have? i know his ult lets him teleport to an ally, but that's not reallly 'movement' imo
tornado transformation
I mean nothing that fits these criteria is gonna get you anywhere near the movement of lash
but yeah he has nado
Lash is meant to infuriate the enemy team primarily
and he's not a big stompy boy
lash can really easily kill people solo around early midgame but as stuff goes late he kind of just dispenses spirit burn and ult
ivy also has a decent bit of stamina and can straight up fly, but that's an ult so it's not super accessible
Infernus sounds fairly easy
know i fuckin' hate playing vindicta
and the current meta build aiui is all about his mobility option
i'm not even gonna touch any of the sniper characters tbh, that's never been my jam
i love sniping, but vindicta's ult feels horrible to use due to the huge magification for me
grandpa can be a lot more slippery with his sprint scaling
and arrow has a hitbox the size of a woodland conifer
so you might actually enjoy that way more
his arrow is also his 1 instead of his ult
for infernus?
so you can skillshotmaxx if thats what youre into
grandpa?
ivy is also straightforward imo, the only thing with her is since i can't judge how an engagement is going at a glance yet i always wonder if i'm griefing my teammates when i airlift them out of a fight
just look up dash builds and you should be pretty set
i mean i only do it when they're low on health, but i've seen people willingly push forward on low health
9 times out of 10 i just see ivy ult used as a mapwide silence that also sets up a guaranteed power dunk with stoneform
whats the best site for builds?
oh.
the build browser in the game seems really solid from what i've seen?
the official discord's character channel is generally pretty reliable
but yeah just look through the build browser
i mean it has recommended paths and the good builds have annotations that explain what each item does for your build and stuff
is there a way to acess the build browser outside of deadlock app
popular options generally arent bad
There are some that are kind of turds, there is a Wraith one that builds Ricochet for example
you can also tag them so there are builds that are flagged a ssuitable for new players, and since you can categorise them people separate laning items vs. midgame items vs. flex items etc. etc. it's the most convenient thing of this kind i've ever seen
fair lol
thats why I say go check the discord character channels cause all the onetricks are in there and will set you right
just remember the invite is truly one use only per steam account
Personally character strats aren’t important in the beginning, having solid fundamentals is
And that means trading, last hits, when and where to move, mobility stuff like dashes, etc etc
Yes
also the inbuilt annotations too!
Dash and then jump input when your stamina bar turns blue
some builds are insanely well documented
jump right as your character lands (assuming they do a normal roll dash)
it'll tell you if your timing is off and ytou can practice it in the hideout
to what, the build browser? in the shop/build menu, it should be a tab on the upper part of the screen
again, pretty sure you can check it in the hideout too
just hit B
genuine question with no harm meant: does the tutorial not teach you these things, because if so that seems like an enormous oversight they should patch in
it does but it's shit at it
the deadlock NPE is really scuffed rn and if people just dont know where to see builds thats a humongous gap
i also just dont remember it too well
but yeah, it's literally just a bunch of screens saying "do this, do that", then a list of things to do
and yeah i didnt know there was a build browser for a while
i like getting cubed
its nice to have heals
the cuuuuube
the tutorial is genuinely kinda ass
They absolutely did not fix Billy dragging you through walls
cuz it yeah, it does teach you how the game works
but it's also got like, exactly that with nothing else
cornerboosting is super important stuff but i guess its a glitch
similar to tap strafing in high level apex before they apparently removed it (or not? idk)
im thinking about how a character like doorman is honestly just, one of those characters that feels so right to use
i dont know how to doorway right
Doorway placement could also be touched up a bit, it's finnicky even on flatter walls
just like tap strafing if you're not being paid to play this game you probably shouldn't give a shit about cornerboosting v:
but like, the simplest combo of bell + cart
yeah, the only issue is every time i see stuff about lash its something like, "btw you should corner boost for +40 dmg"
ok got one question
how valid is this from a whole fuckin year ago
I don’t like infuser personally but it is hilarious when it works
I also don’t do ricochet, I use 1 and 2 to put fire on lots of things but I’m weird and haven’t touched Infernus in a while but it’s mostly solid
Superior Stamina is always good imo, alchemical fire is hard to use well without backup imo
I mean this isn’t a terrible place to start I guess
I'd say get a build that's recent month
infuser is also a 6400 item now and not an 800
half the items in this don't exist any more and the other half have different names
or have wildly different functions like aforementioned infuser
lol i got curious for this reason
also, idk why but apparently im shippin abrams and lash now
bruh everything but the aim is so fuckin true
btw wtf is pos 3/5 or whatever
term from dota
the equivalent of support/dps/tank but instead it's referring to the priority of who ought to get the farm: pos 1 should get the most and pos 5 the least
yeah it's souls in this game, or gold in dota or whatever else
it's the 'farm' people talk about acquiring when they say 'i'm farming creeps/jungle camps' etc
vyper is into lash lol
'cs' is creep score and is basically exactly what it says on the tin, kill the enemy little guys real good
'confirm' in deadlock refers to the shoot-the-soul minigame
Yeh
e.g. if I say 'paige's gun is bad at confirming' that's because it fires really slow-moving projectiles and it's easy for the opponents to beat you to the punch
paige's gun seems excellent for add clear and not great for everything else
when you steal an enemy's soul in that minigame or vice versa, that's 'denying'
since the projectiles overpenetrate
there we go
that's most of the slang applicable to deadlock
i had to also bother my doter friends about this incessantly before i picked up the game
so this hit me
yes
and is confirm/deny that much more common?
all the voice comms i've seen in the game have been pretty focused and to the point
cuz so far ive just been tryna figure out
a) how not to die
b) who i like at the game
the trash talk mostly happens over text for whatever reason 🤷
Yes and no
apparently its always the 7?
I was gonna say 'because there's no global vc' but the thought of prox vc in a moba is fucking killing me
it would be exclusively used for hate crimes of course
Lobbies I'm in all the chill people (outside trolls who think they are clever) talk in text
that said chasing someone down and hearing them scream like they're dying irl would make me laugh so hard i fuck up the gank
All the flamers talk in vc cause they get annoyed at people not using VC when pings exist
If you're playing on a pro level you should 100% use comms, if not at level, assume randoms will do anything to everything and save yourself some sanity
grey talon
well technically he shoots a giant arrow but that's the genre of character he is
just watch gameplay if you're confused
his default weapon is a rapid-ish fire weapon
i cannot stress enough that randomly trying to assess whether numbers are good or bad in a total vacuum with 10 hours in a game is going to tell you nothing
the classic charged bow shot is on his 1
if you're confused about how a character works just go on youtube and look up some gameplay clips and you'll learn way more in way less time than trying to do quantum physics on a wiki page
im just trying to figure out how they work
the basic synergies of how each ability works is, ime, pretty well explained by the text and by trying it out in the sandbox. learning how to build for abilities takes a lot more finesse though
i do wish the game had nested tooltips so i could look at exactly what, eg, infernus' napalm does mechanically
Cause I'll be real knowledge checks in mobas take a lot of time and it's better to learn by playing for a fair bit
Then yeah try it out in sandbox
i dont have my pc available rn
it's just infinitely easier to watch a video and go 'okay this is what his m1 and skills look like in action' than trying to model all this in your mind
also cuz yt doesnt show me how his dmg works
on the m1
its just "yeah it shoots for damage"
the broad explanation is that his gun damage is also scaled with how much spirit he has, in addition to the bonus gun damage you always get when your character levels up
oh so basically you pump spirit and she gets really good dmg?
eh
you only get 100 spirit pretty lategame
you want to be buying spirit on him anyway but if you do all that, you're not going to be buying the items necessary for actually fully-focussing gun
huh
most of his builds just focus on stacking spirit so his 1 deals 800 damage a shot
gun is just there to pad your damage in between bow shots more or less
though you can build him for pure gun also, most characters in deadlock can flex one way or another
it's just kind of an extra bonus he gets that not many other characters do
warden's fire rate scales with spirit and haze's mag scales with spirit
for other examples of spirit interacting with gun
his dps feels low because i recall seeing DPS values well into the 200s
which confused the shit out of me
i was like, why does this character have literally 4x less dps
yeah there is no chance in hell that's happening at level 0 unless someone seriously borked it
this is all what the character does from the very start of the game
as characters level and depending on build you can absolutely hit 200+ dps though
like i think i was in a match and my gun was at like, 180-something DPS when i was running like, 30% gun
ik the drifter had like, 230
but that's like, isnt drifter pure dps
he's a very orange character
they dont really explain stat scaling either, so i was like
orange here referring to gun items
what the fuck
spending money on items in a particular category gives you stat bonuses in that category: weapon items give base weapon damage, spirit items give spirit which scales your abilities, health items give max hp
i saw items increase stuff by like, maybe 10%, 20%, etc
but i just got really confused because i saw values into the hundreds versus values of like, 29
and i couldnt comprehend it
(like i said i dont play mmos, everthing from stat scaling to items is pretty damn new to me)
yeah i still don't understand how hp or weapon damage scales fully
and it appears to vary per-character? which is very confusing
level up bonuses scale per character
but the bonuses from item categories are universal tmk
so how does the dmg formula even work?
that's the thing, you gain hp for each green item, and weapon damage for each orange item (is my understanding). ik ability damage scales off spirit but at least those show you the scalar per-ability
also, like
i like building CD reduction for Lash's 2 first and foremost
its more fun that way
but like, also
how do you build?
they never explain anything on how you build in the game
it tells you, "btw get some items" then thats it
the thing is, most characters have multiple builds, so it depends on which abilities or weapons you prioritise
i guess most games don't really explain guns and every character
infernus is a good example, you can build him orange around his gun and stack debuffs, or you can max out on his sprint. or you can do the spring early game and then sell items to swiutch to the gun later etc.
but guns tend to be different stats mainly, with some variations
yeah i've just been following the community guides till i find one that works tbh
does league or dota ever explain the basics of building?
dunno, this is honestly the first moba i've been able to stomach for more than a few matches
i'm pretty sure they do not?
Hello everyone, today I've got a Deadlock Build Crafting guide for y'all to help you understand the Item Shop and make better builds. If anything is unclear or you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment down below.
Timestamps:
0:00 Intro
0:54 Basic Item Shop overview
6:41 7 Good Build Requirements
7:18 Ability Point orders
9:15 What i...
granted this is a 50 minute video but i do trust natan for this
it just isn't an easy topic to explain
(also of course everything is potentially in flux and the shop has changed a ton of times)
if you're really insistent on getting into the nitty-gritty you're going to need to digest a lot of information, there's no getting around it
you probably just need the first ten-ish minutes to understand the 101 though
right now all i want is to somehow get into like a 0.5 KD and like, that's it
most of the time what ive found myself doing on lash is killing minions and then waiting for someone on a rooftop to dive, deal like, 30% HP dmg, then fucking off
i liked the dude who commed, he'd tell me when he was engaging so i could dive into the enemies, unload, heal, then parkour out, he got all the kills obv, but like, it's fun like that
I'm not going to read all of the chat above but as a quick tip of things
Any information on the game that is like
Older than 3 months or so
Just toss into the garbage
Especially if it's older than 6 months ago
We had a map rework and an item rework and a whole lot of different economy reworks
Side bar anything someone talks about roles in this game of carry or support or whatnot that is a thing that is going to be for all intents and purposes meaningless to you until you get to a pretty high mmr where people will give space and funnel souls to a player with any intentionality, and even then it's like. Still barely a thing
I vaguely see you posting about Lash builds with as a general rule some of the better builds are ones that have descriptions on why an item is good or not and will include a recommended build order. The streamer Deathy is both a Lash main and, imo, the most informative when it comes to giving advice in the game
So I'd look up his build
Though I know he builds lash as a pure spirit burst
Also I recommend customizing your ping wheel to what you think is good
Even if you don't talk in game pinging your intentions helps, especially as the higher mmr you are has a pretty direct correlation to people actually talking to each other
mmm
I think I also skimmed past you having bad hands or something, I have a similar thing
yeah i do
I can usually aim center mass but anything precise is mostly impossible for me
though for some reason in that one roblox game im an aim freak
I main casters and melee characters. Lots have shotguns or don't need to aim super precisely, and even some others like Paige or Ivy or Dynamo can work fine not needing to do head clicking
Viscous and Yamato have alt fires that are strong too
I mean, as far as anyone else is he’s not the worst
I think seven and wraith might be the easiest
The game says McGinnis is an easier character for new players and I dunno if I agree with that tbh
Kelvin is also a solid choice
mcginnis is defo not a "newbie" character
i know the way those skills work from overwatch and the like
those are communications oriented positioning tools
those are easy to use, but hard af to actually use well
lots of the time a newbie is gonna fuck up the wall and block off a push because they overextended, or not block space properly
turret will also likely get misplaced
yeah wall uh has some ups and downs
turrets being misplaced doesn't matter because turrets are bad
They used to be psychotically oppressive and then they got the nerf bat taken to them
Most of the mobile characters are more technical, unfortunately
he can also schmove too because of his shield
Using his ult well is challenging but he shoots fine
combo with fleetfoot and lategame spellslinger, vrrrrr
because his stuff is "deal debuff in aoe", "tank and move fast", "debuff enemy more", "deal aoe dmg"
Just zoopin’
damn simple kit
warden also sets up his own gun
Yeah but tbf the old barrier crimes warden build needed that nerf
it turns out it's pretty easy to shoot people who are standing still
It even gives you bonus headshot damage
Well their specification was liking hypermobility, and while I agree Wardens are usually fast that is more how they all build in the exact same way to run down people in a straight line
yeah im just looking at chars for newbies
hey the straight line is the shortest distance between me and the other guy
blame euclidean geometry
remember when shield items were a thing
and veil walker refreshed those shields
because all i knew i liked was jumping everywhere
although tbf the new barrier equivalents are nuts, spirit shielding in particular is fucked
just spawning in an entire fortitude's worth of hp
god forbid you actually play a spirit character yourself
hows holliday?
also technical
painful
also requires some extra degree of aim
RIP reloading your gun with fleetfoot
you gotta hit your barrels and you gotta hit your shots and you gotta hit your lasso
Unironically Holliday is one of the hardest characters but she is also one of the best characters right now
you basically need to know some character-specific tech to play the character even remotely competently because holy shit throwing barrels regular degular style is so bad
like unbelievably bad
you gotta jump melee them yeah
now on the other hand: punching the barrels directly to where you want them to go...
Holliday requires you to land at least one headshot every few seconds so I mean, not newbie friendly
oh.
The tech is easy to know tbh
i assume this
the headshot requirement is a little overstated because barrel popup makes them free
and her gun shoots trashcans
And the headshots don't need to matter outside lane if you don't build for it
what's jump melee about?
the barrels
The important part is the barrels and bouncepads
holliday can punch her barrels to make them infinitely more controllable and easy to land
how you actually throw them somewhat decently
if she casts barrel on the ground it rolls pathetically gets stuck on every surface and is generally bad
if she jumps, then punches it you can lob the aoe where you actually want it to go and you can do it fast too
oh so once you learn how to punch it right, i assume its solid?
