#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)
1 messages · Page 67 of 1
Hasn't it always been kind of a buggy mess
More now than before
If bugs were an issue in my games I wouldn't be a Deep Rock fan
ba dum tssk
But if they aren't horribly game breaking I might look into doing a Seamless run with a friend
Wanna do a run then?
maybe.. but it'll be a while yet
don't want to burn out and also getting berry busy
đ
God, mood
Gonna be going to college this week so my schedule's likely to be filled for a while yet
yeahh I'm back to school too
the dlc broke it but they got working patches so fast
and have been continually updating since
I think that the reason why miquella âfailedâ is the same reason why Marika failed, when you strip away all that makes you human in both a emotional, physical, and metaphysical sense all you end up with is a hallow vessel whoâs influence can only be puppeted by âgreater powersâ
In Markiaâs case itâs vague but in my interpretation in the quest for vengeance on the horn-sent (due to haven been put through the jar experiments) she gave up aspects of her autonomy physical and meta physical in order to gain stability and order via a Faust like bargain with âthe greater Willâ
Miquellaâs is more direct you canât have a âtrue age of compassionâ without love as a âmortal emotionâ and saint Trina similar to gold mask said it best godhood in Elden ring is a prison (a jar perhapsđ€) because somehow in that process you hallow out in a sense
Elden ring by and large is probably the most ââGnosticââ story/setting ever told with twists on its concepts
not as disdainful of the material world, but the way the game treats the cosmic definitely echoes Gnostic ideas
question: Did you mean Hallow (as in Holy) Vessel or Hollow (as in empty) vessel?
like its more visceral, less dualist in that it treats the spiritual as following the same rules as biology, and embodies its forces much more than creating a distinction between them, but in Elden Ring it is true that all humanoids contain bits of divine life. The Greater Will is also pretty Monist in its all-transcending and all-encompassing depiction.
big focus on revelations too, especially in magic - theres a lot of "visions of fire" or "glimpses into currents" or "beholding of moons"
Runes and the language of the fingers as scripture, its overlap with mathematics as the force which makes things distinct - divine reason made manifest in light
I'd expect a lot of the gnostic bits were side effects of how much Hermeticism is shoved in there
Did you die
possibly
lmao 70 end
This is by far the weirdest fucking setup i have ever seen on a character
70 end with middleweight armor
70 end, great jar arsenal, no heavy armor
this is fucked up
OP's friend is right
But not for the reason OP mentions
Also i would genuinely not even call that a build, there is literally no focus to it
this is genuinely the most rancid build i've ever seen
165 equip load with fucking 27 poise sure is something
i've gotta wonder if this is NG0
at level three fucking hundred and sixteen
or if they've completed the game before with this fuckstrocity
I don't want to like, completely dunk on OP since they are in NG+2 but like
What is that "build"
Jfc
oh okay they're on +2
that's more normal
but yeah
neither lightrolling
nor maxing out their midroll weight
with ginormous heavy armor
30 fth and 34 arc
with multiple fth/arc options equipped
No real armor, no poise, no light roll, but we do have four greatswords
while they also have 60/51/60 phys and int
like jesus christ dude
i don't even know where to begin
but
They aren't really making proper use of literally anything they have equipped
pick some stats and stick with them good lord
Which was why i was so baffled by it
i think I'm missing 4 or 5 bosses so I'll hunt them down
dlc was a good time overall
i had a weird bug looting freyja's body (quest fail đ )
these images are refusing to work
i was mashing pickup and this happened
i kind of walked away so maybe i somehow interacted weirdly with it, idk tho
no it just dupes her gear if you don't do her quest for some reason
She was planning on being twinsies but unrelatedly died somehow
more importantly you didn't(?) get the EuaGHHhHH !! prattling pate
both, but I meant hollow
đ
which imo is a key item
#eldenring #eldenringdlc #shadowoftheerdtree
huh, neat
finally, a solid side-by-side for Messmer / Radagon, too
Glances nervously at bow-only
ok yeah but like
bow only is diff
this person is just fucking up completely
there is literally no reason to have four greatswords equipped
yeah that's pretty silly
wait why would you have that config?
max stamina but need a low threshold for blue dancer?
I'm not actually running blue dancer, I just really need lightroll and lots of stam
ah
bow is the stam-hungriest thing I've played, somehow
wild
the funniest thing is
they are using full caster build and 2 faith weapons
not a single sorcery in sight
only incantations
and they have 30 faith
not only that
but they have 60 int
the only thing they have that needs int is DMGS
yeah it's real fucked
they have chants and two fth weapons
and the fth/arc dragon seal
#eldenringduel #eldenringinvasions #eldenringpvp #eldenringmage #eldenringtips #eldenringcoop #eldenrinboss #eldenringparry #eldenringlore #eldenringdlc #eldenringcoop #eldenringtips #eldenringdungeon #eldenringmage #eldenringgameplay #eldenringdungeon #gitgud #playstation #xbox #eldenring #eldenrinboss
And only like one communion spell too
that's not in and of itself a sin, Dragon Communion Seal is just jacked even if you're not using communion spells
but, uh, obviously probably not worth speccing into arcane for it alone over using a faith seal
This is an Elon musk ass build
Theyâve gotta be taking the piss
Also theyâre level 300
Late reaction to the stuff from way higher which I just now noticed: is the problem that the gods aren't human enough, or that the gods are too human, and thus hypocritical and vengeful and egotistical and fallible?
Finally beat Rellana, I wish I'd done it a bit earlier because with the extra fourty levels I have since I first fought her and with all the time I put in earlier she went down a bit quickly
both
it's both i'd say
Goldmask found that the problem with the gods, Marika particularly, is that she is far too human
but ||Ansbach presents a different idea when he asks us to be a lord for men, not for gods, presnting the idea that gods are far too distanced from men||
||goatsbach||
There's some argument that striving for divinity is inherently flawed because we can only attain the responsibilities of the divine, not the ability to adequately meet them... but ||Metyr shows that even the Divine Will (the most divine force out there, as we understand it) isn't really adequately providing for and supporting its children||.
||i wouldn't call the Greater Will more or less divine than the Outer Gods, because of just how absolutely little we know about each of them||
||all of our sources are at best biased||
||and at worst guessing or extraordinarily esoteric||
Also, imo, it doesnât matter much
||in that sense that creating the world does not give the greater will the right to rule it, if thatâs what it did to begin with||
that's fair
||Not the right, necessarily, but arguably the responsibility.||
For context tho I am extremely âfuck the godsâ pilled
In pretty much any piece of media
||thatâs fair, but theyâre an absentee parent at this point, so theyâve kinda already shirked it||
That's my point exactly. ||Not even the Greater Will can meet its responsibilities. It's not merely a matter of those responsibilities being shirked due to the humanity of the deities striving for it.||
Ahhh I see
On another scale
||Weve already seen that these divinities, even the outer gods, basically canât help themselves from hurting mankind, presumably due to their alien nature||
||the formless mother spawns murderous blood cults, the scarlet rot⊠uh, rots, and so on||
...I think that's the dichotomy. ||Divinities either harm their children or abandon them. Miquella aimed for the "harm" side of that spectrum; Ranni aimed for the abandonment side.||
Or ||maybe "harm" isn't quite the right word, so much as just... remaking in their image.||
||Ranni goes for abandonment but twists it by not creating a system dependent on her. Itâs the ultimate act of a kind of freeing abandonment. Less leaving a child alone in the dark, and more letting an animal out into the wildness to live as it may||
||The metaphysical system isn't dependent on her. That says nothing about the societal systems. They can certainly adapt to that, though.||
Yeah
Like I said it really is like releasing an animal - they have the tools to flourish or fall, but you have to leave it to them
The societal structure of the lands between has mostly already collapsed
...I presented that like it's a strict dichotomy, but in reality it's frequently both. ||Look at the Goddess of Rot, who both abandons its children (although part of that is arguably Malenia abandoning them), and remakes the world in its image. Or, for that matter, Miquella's abandonment of St. Trina. Or how Marika remade the world to match the Golden Order and quashed other faiths and cultures, before then attempting to leave.||
...and I have to go for now.
just got "Message Appraised" seconds after dying to ||Midra||
finding him pretty difficult, but I'm only 6 attempts in
and he's dead
last attempt was actually kinda easy
i think he is one of the most fair & straightforward fights in the dlc
good boss
not necessarily easy, but very easy to track what is going on, no camera wiggles, no disjoint hitboxes, etc.
and on the other side of that specrum, I'm now fighting ||Commander Gaius||
who, to be fair, is a lot easier with the deflect tear it turns out
i actually think that's one of the most fun fights once you learn it, the only move i find frustrating sometimes is ||the charge||
though i do think a lot of DLC bosses are a bit of an endurance check for if you have the stamina to dodge 2 combos in a row sometimes
charge is weird with the deflecting hard tear as well
sometimes it blocks the whole thing, sometimes it wipes all of my stamina and then deals damage
He's on my top 2 fights of the DLC
and he's dead too
im going to guess its probably whether or not you're hitting the perfect deflect window
deflecting hardtear doesnt generally buff guard boost or the damage negation dealt (or even guard counters) i think. it only actually buffs the spontaneous guard
so if you miss the window you're probably eating the normal guard boost of your weapon which isnt as good
(i dont think there's a sound cue for a perfect one vs a normal?)
lmfao, that would do it
:(
I watched a friend do that boss and spend like 20 minutes trying to figure out at what point in the fight he was supposed to use the Prattling Pate to avoid getting instakilled
At the ||shaman village||
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUTx9Zx0ezY Okay the ||Bayle|| cheese is jawdropping in how the devs seemingly missed this.
Thank you Factor for sponsoring! Use code IRONPINEAPPLE50 to get 50% OFF your first Factor box plus 20% off your next month of orders at https://bit.ly/3ScAJn8!
Can you beat Elden Ring's DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, at level 1 without being good at the game?
twitter: https://x.com/IronPineapple_
Mohg cheese: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifyt...
it took two in-game days basically to kill too which is HILARIOUS
What did Metal Fruit do now
cheese ||Bayle||
Whatâs the timestamp?
around 12:18
Oh god
What the fuck
yeah lmao
Mr. Pineapple you've done it again
||Itâs King Allant and DTS all over again||
This is apparently also possible with the final boss.
absolutely fucking incredible
Mimic veil moment
it's the fucking GODRICK STRAT
It's so stupid i love it
be a coward
mimic veil
profit
Good god
what the FUCK
fucking incredible stuff
I think so.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keRS15ONdBM This method I believe.
oh god the ||scadutree avatar|| cheese
gods
looking back at my victorious battle against ||Promised Consort Radahn|| and that was honestly quite a good showing
Scarlet Aeonia is a banger incant
Yeee
i even got grabbed during the fight but i managed to not get hit a second time
i did finish off the fight after Scarlet Aeonia wore off which was pretty nice
got the final hits in with just my sword
i shadowplayed the run i actually ended up winning
i had to replace the sound though
which, fun fact, i did by just shadowplaying my desktop while i had the song playing through spotify and using that as the audio source for the song
hmmm, I've got a bit of a different read, in that nearly every Outer God('s power) is abused by humans, more than causing harm on its own.
also had to edit so it played the right bit of the music after the phase transition
like in the dlc we can meet the forager brood, and see how Verdigris and pickling relate to Rot - that the Gravebirds used to burn all the dead in ghostflame, preventing putrescence from building up. Both much more positive relationships with these forces.
got down to a river
map fragment nearby
The Formless Mother only spawns blood cults in places where peoples lineages have been disaparaged, and their families lost, by human cruelty. Even the Flame of Frenzy, the most outright harmful force to life in the setting, is intensified by the horrific persecution that people bring down on people suspected of harboring it.
i'm still mightily impressed with myself that i managed to finish the fight without having used up all of my flasks
nice
Scarlet Aeonia passive damage was the thing that pushed me over the edge when it came to being able to survive long enough to win
i use it a few times in the vid, most of which were accidents honestly
i actually only meant to use it once during the fight but of course i fucked up a bit so i used it like three times
real for this
(this is why its funny to shitposts about Ranni's ending being the Greater Will ending ||because both go out for milk and never come back||)
what faith level is scarlet aeonia
35

I personally don't read the Greater Will as an Outer God, but I stopped doing that before the dlc dropped, so
tbh, less about the literal term and more about how a lot of people kind of snuck in underlying vibes based on how they talked about the Outer Gods in this game
Please post the Bouncerat
So I can totally not steal it
I think the kind of rpg gamer kneejerk "fuck the gods" (based) does kind of lead to.... idk. Over-humanization? Assumption of malice?
this isn't an Elden Ring specific thing

holy moly...

I'm leveling up arcane now to try some different weapons, I guess I could go 40->48 dex for hand of malenia, but min requirements probably doesn't offer the best damage
I mean
Softcapt is 55
48 is not that away
Either way, if you want to check
but I feel like a lot of people's takes on these divine forces focuses too much on the divine and not enough on the forces - Its not a wild read to interpret the Greater Will as the Big Bang, or laws of physics themselves, its influence inescapable in terms of sheer reach: Life itself is a byproduct of the divine. And vice-versa, Hallowed spirits and Tutelary ancestors spring from mortal life - life is divine. Its less a guy in a crown, and more a vast and interconnected system that the humans in the setting are already a part of - its the aliens who brought life (as we know it) to the Lands Between.
but I might just be Ymir-pilled tbh
when he said ||"One need only envision the romance of the stars above with adoration for stardust in one's heart to become a great sorcerer. Do so, and you will know love."||? đ„ đ„ đ„
I gotta admit I played quite a lot of Mage: The Awakening lmao
so I might've been preppred to think like that
Identifying god and the divinity as the primordial engine that powers all creation
If you want to go further you can even get into Hegel and his human spirit but let's not do that
Good
You are happier that way
I'm still not sure I properly understand his conception of the human spirit and divinity
I've been told to read Spinoza quite a bit before
haven't gotten around to it
but my philosophy friends have told me "You, specifically, would like him."
I've read very little of him, so I can't really comment
I pretty much only know he's got a monist conception of the universe
the Duskborn shield đ
A la Parmenides?
We stan Those Who Live in Death
Oh god
Malenia is so difficult
I still canât do her without help
Fuck man I just want the Aeonia
This is getting irritating
The only recomendation I can give you is, try to stay away, and only hit her twice after she attacks you
You know what
What level should I be for this
Iâm level 167 and waterfowl rips me apart in three hits at 60 vigor
Waterfowl is supposed to kill you if the four hits connect
I tried dodging into it
And running from it
Or waiting for summoned help to aggro her
Run the first hit, roll the second one, run the third, and wait for 4th to happen
There's another trick
Frost pots.
She has very low frost resistance
One pot is enough to trigger frostbite.
The frostbite trigger flinches her
This breaks the waterfowl dance animation
You have just enough time to throw one at her when she starts doing the attack
huh, the talk yesterday about gnosticism got me thinkin'
I wonder if the origin for this game having so many spirals in it isn't the caduceus cropping up in so much hermetic art
especially being held by Trismegistus / some wise sage
pretty clever that they combined it with dna and evolution, if so
I dont think it means anything more for it, I just never made that connection before
cause aesthetically the game is definitely pulling from those works
Spires are also cycles that actually move ever slightly forward or backwards
Every cycle is similar but slightly different than the last one
the evolutionary mention, and its association with divinity, gives the Hornsent in the dlc almost a transhumanist vibe to me
as if a god is a 'more evolved' state of person
but the hermetics loved their spirally snakes as a sign of enlightenment or closeness to wisdom
also might explain all the snakes
this but its Radagon
Now that I think of it
Marika hanging over the well of the world that shapes fate, impaled (seemingly by herself) and balancing between life and death
Quite evocative of Odin and his auto sacrifice in the Havamal
especially since its in the "World-Tree"
though I think its mostly aesthetics, her ass did not do that for magical insight
The runes are the thing that shapes the very world, and this well is different from mimirsbrunnr
This is urdarbrunnr, where the norns shaped fate, and it's directly under the tree. The wisdom one, mimirsbrunnr is under the roots of the world tree in the land of the giants
I really do like how ER takes mythological inspiration and mixes it with our modern understanding of reality to make its magic feel like these concepts would've felt to people in the past
its like when you see how many people reach for computer / coding analogies to explain the Elden Ring
by having runes being actual lines of writing, appearing as golden threads unless you really look close
it keeps them as literal magic runes
while brining to mind code, or atomic physics
It's also how magic has been understood by a lot of cultures
in the way looking really close in our reality 'reveals' the world is math, just numbers and letters
yeah, traditionally magic wasn't external to the way the world worked
it was a way the world worked
and I think its neat the game blends its magic with modern scientific ideas to kind of get someone whos not from a culture with that understanding on the same page
in a way, its like looking at our understanding of the world as magical
that we understand nuclear fusion only increases how awe-inspiring the stars are
Runes were the magical gift of Odin, and although humanity couldn't (normally) use them in the same way the gods did to shape the world, they still held power. And so, a lot of rune inscribed elements still had some magic in them, perhaps not necessarily in the classical perception of magic, but closely to a more ritualistic one where every use of an inscribed tool is a prayer for good luck and obtaining great results
This is also common in Egypt, where language was sacred and despite it generalising over time, the priests and sacerdotal class still held the monopoly over a whole alphabet
Because that was the sacred script that put them closer to the gods
It's a weird epistemological/cognitive thing, by which giving things name by using words, we limit them and give them a more specific purpose, we project a reality unto them
projecting meaning was actually where I was gonna go with it too
I wonder if runes and language in the game as the sort of baseline of reality doesn't tie into the motif of eyes and vision
considering you read text
And eyes are the main way we perceive the world
no wonder my boss runs with uplifting aromatic weren't working out, they overwrote my golden vow :(
rip
Yeah, there's different kinds of buffs
Weapon, body and aura iirc
You can only stack one of each
đ©
i guess it might be more of a fast buff for pvp
i should try invading >:3 but at sl210 i might get very outskilled
with the fingers and their 'language' being visual only, its almost like its not just perception, but communication
Same with Elden Beast or ||Metyr|| having prominent eye(?)s, but no mouths or ears or anything.
The way to 'listen' to the universe is by looking at it, the way to speak is manifesting your presence.
which ties in really well to the themes of searching for guidance
you are looking-to something for assurance on how to live your life
And how do graces guide?
And what does the flame of frenzy melt first?
maybe Gods dont have eyes because they dont look to anything else, but have become the thing other people are guided by
or at least keep them closed
May I recommend a series?
In miquella's case I'm willing to bet it is because he refuses to watch the world suffer
for sure
I quite enjoy Saint. He's a bit weird sometimes, but he's genuinely nice and very funny
...in general outer influences dwell within the eyes. I missed that ||Miquella keeps his eyes closed||, though... probably I just brushed it off as being generically Thematic and Aesthetic without considering its specific meaning within this context, and I feel bad about that.
Iâm never sure how much is the former and how much is the e latter with fromsoft tbh
Sometimes it feels really deep, and then sometimes it feels like connecting shit with red string while cackling wildly
Saint Riot is the best
yeah I was speaking more from a thematic sense
like Malenia has her eyes 'closed' because they've literally rotted away, while Miquella has them closed because something something sleep and innocence
but I think that could be a read for why you're never allowed to see Miquella or Marika's eyes
they've 'become' the vision
they don't look to others

honestly
I think sometimes for the 'lore' people get too caught up in trying to build timelines and what-if fictions instead of focusing on themes
I heard a loretuber had this whole thing about how there must've been a flood of lava in the past because of the ||stone coffins in Cerulean Coast|| and how rock could only float on dense molten earth and how it must've been caused by a meteoric impact...
and theres nothing wrong with interpretations like that
but also Fromsoft could've just thought ||stone coffin boats|| look dope
and they were right
Stone coffins might be easier to float on water than youâd expect, considering they are hollow and therefore have much less weight than youâd expect for such a huge volume of rock
As long as they stayed empty of water (which we know is the case in Elden Ring lore) they could actually displace a fair bit of water and potentially stay afloat
Also, this is not a low magic setting anyway
I like to shitpost that you can make a reasonable argument that spontaneous generation is real in ER
since a lot of the bugs (Rot-Kindred, Swarm Flies spell, Fly-men, deathblight bugs / wormfaces) just kind of erupt out of magically afflicted places
you don't have to assume stuff is 1-1 with our world
stone coffin place hitting me with that epic dreg heap prank
Haha. LASERS.
I got really frustrated at that part before I figured out that I could equip a shield and just juggernaut my way up to it instead of running the gauntlet the hard way
the lasers, you may be surprised to learn, are 100% physical damage
fighting ||orphan of kos in midir's arena|| was not on my to-do list for today
PK was so fun on bow-only
I went and got a stack of golden arrows from the hermit merchant outside leyndell for the holy damage
what happens in the room after
there are about 80 bloodstains but no npc
maybe i failed this quest too
Its such a goofy boss (complimentary)
are you sure?
Once I realized I could jump over the fire
It was just a matter of learning how to dodge his combo

Do get the item
yeah normally its part of ||Thollierâs quest||
||where you âmeetâ Saint Trina - Miquellaâs other half. Heavily Implied same sort relationship as Radagon / Marika in the base game.||
||she doesnt really do much but be eepy. If you drink her eepy juice enough (this kills you) she gives some dialogue|| and ||asks you to kill Miquella for his sake||
rip to a real one
dang
oh yeah Thollier himself ||is basically having a crisis because Saint Trina wonât (or canât) speak to him, and then gets mad if you tell him her wish - he basically doesnt believe you||
but after a ||short duel with you, he ends up as a surpise summon for the Leda + Friends fight as an ally, and again for the final boss.||
which was unironically hype
didnt expect it at all my first playthrough
Even anschbach comments on it
I like the âcanâtâ interpretation more than the âwonâtâ
with the explanation of ||Hes imbibed too much - hes built a resistance to her poison and cant reach the depths of sleep shes fallen to||
otherwise idk why she wouldnât just tell him
his vibes are a little off at the start of the quest, bro is desperate
part of his arc is ||going from selfishly seeking Saint Trina out of personal desire, to putting his doubts aside on raw faith in you and her to actually see her will through||
saint trinas eepiest boy
really not sure where to go from here
Keen Milady, both combo talismans
(winged and millicent's prosthesis)
if faith wasn't so low, I'd increase it for Golden Vow, but that's a lot of runes at this level
decided to check out at what point Quality would get me more damage than keen, but it's 40 STR
do you need to go anywhere? this looks like a rather decisively complete build
tons of mind, tons of end, 60 vig, 80 damage stat, enough str and arc for whatever you're doing with those
yeah, that's fair, only two bosses left in the DLC
just have a lot of runes and nothing to use them on
you're past the point i consider a build complete
which is 150-165, depending
finish that dlc and do a new run, gamer
the grind never stops
can always just buy smithing stuff for the next run
Scout, what on earth do you need that much not-cyanide for
You have hit the hardcap for Dex
There's no reasonable way to improve your damage on that front
Melatonin ain't quite cutting it
almost first tried ||Metyr||
seriously, deflect tear feels like cheating
had a few more bosses left than I thought, but only one left now
Sleepy Invasions
MALENIA GOT

Oh..
I forgot about Millicent
Now my dex build will be incomplete
Well fuck
Sheâs nowhere to be found
Dammit I really should have thought this through
I FOUND HER!
Oh my god
The sisters fight is so difficult
What do I do yall
They kill Millicent really fast
She dies instsntly
NPC invaders can't react to jump attacks properly for some reason, so abuse that
Yeah if you can distract a couple of them, Millicent will consistently wipe the floor with any two of them
I managed this fight on Bow Only, I believe in you
Did you run around the rot pool shooting at two of them?
Lmao, that must have been hell
I know the winged sword is fundamentally worse than prosthetics
But I canât bring myself to kill her it feels wrong
It was fairly tough! Still somehow easier than Gideon though
Iâm a dex build
Sigh.. goodbye, Millicent.
Does rot like perpetually alter the soul too?
Or just rots away the body?
It's implied ||she was born from rot, and Mallenia is her mother||
So she was already taken, her only chance was ||dying before it could fully overtake her||
Rot does seem to affect the soul
Millicent's Prosthesis is better than Rotten Winged sword if you're willing to use a second talisman slot for Winged Sword
at minimum it affects your consciousness as well as your body
if you're not using both, Rotten Winged Sword is just better
but it is a very comprehensive thing
Specifically, ||she's a bud, probably an asexual clone of Malenia. Gowry seems to suggest she and her sisters just crawled out of the swamp one day.||
Yep
yeah
Hmm
Duskborn maybe could fix that
But itâs not the same as stars
Since stars cuts off all the other outer gods
how would it fix that
Including the Rot God
Idk like fixing death.. I donât know
It couldn't
i don't think it could help Millicent in any way
The age of dusk is fully focused on our True Lord Godwynâąïž
she was pretty much doomed from the very beginning as far as it's possible to tell
Yeah true
personally i think the Rot God is still sealed even though it is managing to act through Malenia and ostensibly ||Romina||
i think the whole problem with Scarlet Rot is a thing that would just not be fixed by trying to ward away the already sealed rot god
||Romina is implied to have given herself to the god, and having used rot powers without direct communion to build her new body||
because i think the rot will not simply disappear
it's already a thing in the world
Aeonia gained
you would need to absolutely eradicate all rot which would be an insanely monumental task
considering bullshit like the rot lake exist
And Godwyn is unique in that heâs not an outer god
He was made within the framework of the world itself
(Also the rot god existing sets up a sequel so yeah)
that goes for all of the demi-gods
Godwyn has ingrained himself in the world in such a manner that removing him is impossible with a fundamental alteration of its laws
his corpse does seem to have become sort of an existential problem
which someone should definitely do something about by say, destroying it or so
Fashion question
Black knight, Malekith and Death Knight?
Or just the main death knight set
that is some heavy propaganda
????
Godwyn is dead
also chomping at the fucking bit with that
people saying ||Godwyn should have been the final boss|| enrage me
Stupid propoganda
i am like a mob in a game
That works really well, damn
if you say it you will immediately draw my aggro
Youâve made me give Godwyn as final boss credence through yaoi alone
But only just
I have more ideas!
isn't a big part of goldwyn the horrifying realization he's in a permanent state of half death?
Millicent's prosthesis stacks with Winged Sword, but Rotten Winged Sword doesn't
Yes
Yes
I just want more Godwyn
Yes it is
feels like a fight would ruin that
Give me more undeath
Godwyns soul is gone
It is completely scoured from the lands between
No amount of wishing will make that not be the case
Yes, but I want to further explore Those Who Live in Death
I mean tbh he's kinda different from them
Since they seem to still have their souls or some fascimile
Whereas what is left of Godwyn is a complete husk
Yes, because he is a very unique and special case, but because of the position he occupies as their weird Azathoth, he being there implies more undead are too
they are sort of opposites
And that.. something about reincarnation and the sea of souls
But I donât fully remember
TWLID are as i understand it, souls that live on after the death of their bodies
Yeah
Oh I think I remember
whereas what happened with Godwyn is a body that lives on after the death of its soul
Yeah
Souls are a lot more transient compared to their bodies
But tying them down to the erdtree disrupts the process of reincarnation or something with the rune of death
So it causes the dead to not be able to rest properly and people to suffer eternal life without freeing their souls from rotting bodies
Iâm not gonna finish Ymirâs quest line this time
Jolan pretty
Itâs time once again for
ABYSSAL. WOODS.
;-; scary
One day ill escape my love of the cleanrot armour
I SEE YOU.
No you don't.
Depends, all you get out of parry is || them being dead and an exultation for madness||
Iâm not sure how
But I managed to skip over all the untouchables
Iâm at the Manor now
Black knife armor and veil
I snuck past three of them and that appeared to be it
12 attempts in on the last boss of the DLC, I cheesed him with shield poking last time so I'm trying to actually learn the fight
So eh
i ended up draining my arcane a bit cause i felt like i was getting too attached to bleed
so much fuckin' strength and faith man
MIDRA DOWN FIRST TRY
nice work
Good job scrible
Gaius is just a stinky fight
I saw a redditor saying Gaius was âeasy and relaxing to fightâ
Broski
Youâre crazy
Gaius just ):<
Its mainly just that fuckin charge for me, almost every other move i can vibe with
that fuckin charge SUCKS though
Hm
thoughts?
I've used that in the past, I quite like it
If you get on torrent you can outpace the charge iirc
Like, by running literally directly away from him
I dont like using torrent in fights.
the most i use him for is transportation
its why i head to walled enough to learn how to just dodge the charge
I would appreciate if the moveset wasnt so limited when on torrent then if thats intended.
Fair, I think heâs supposed to be more of a movement/dodge option than. Like
Staying on him for entire fights
Save for a few enemies
Holy shit
I actually blocked a fire knights attack flurries long enough for me to do a counter
Thatâs new
Also
What happens if I donât give the letter to ||freyja||
||her quest fails and she doesnât appear at enir-ilim||
|| Her gear DOES drop in the room she's in post final boss though, golden shield excluded||
Hmm I see no downsides ngl
also
hrm
maybe having my characters face showing isnt the worst thing considering bear pelt
||it makes the fight easier especially since Hornsent is still alivr||
|| There really isnt one, but thats the benefit of future knowledge||
|| you know the best way to make fights easier||
however ||shes pretty easy in that fight and has baller dialogue||
Oh
I guess I should?
But with ||hornsent itâs leda plus Dane against me thio and ansbach||
is this your first time through
Nah
oh okay than yeah do whatever lol
Hmm
Bayle is harder than I thought
What level should I be im at scadu 16 with dragon wound katana
Thatâs around the level lots of people do it at
Bringing this over from #1161861116721385482 but... this "tragically twisted Black" arc seems like a pretty good approximation of what ||Miquella|| is doing. https://jennamoran.tumblr.com/post/164940262578/twisted-arcs-silver-black I'm... aware that some of the information is missing from here since it just says "same as the book".
For the knight short sword do you need to powerstance or nah
Its not inherently paired if thats what you mean?\
im unsure how you mean "do you need to powerstance" in this case
For the highest scaling
An overgrown hippo baby has taken the record for most deaths, and killed me more times than any of the demigods or actual gods
also, is its hit boxes kinda wonky? I felt like there were a bunch of times where dodging was just rng
One day ill hammer out a decent look using this helmet
also I think people are too mean to the Kindred of Rot, though the dlcs helped (because Moore is đ„°)
very rarely are they considered to be their own group of people with their own concerns
should rot be eradicated? Maybe Caelid (and the Haligtree?) are just the rot place(s) now
I could see it either way tbh
theres a solid argument that Outer Gods appear through divine things getting fucked up in the world, often in a traumatic way
which-
Godwyns not having a great time
of the confirmed Outer Gods a good half have no space-y themes
they aren't nessasarily cosmic - and given the fungal crown, ||Moore's Verdigris armor, Rauh,|| and the Deathrite Birds, it seems theres been more postive relationships with them in the past
I could see Godwyn either merging with the God of the Twinbird - he's got the same ancient rancor spells, noted to be 'rediscovered' - or becoming a new manifestation of a 'Death Outer God' or something as the Prince of Death
anyway
Why would you do this to Finlay đ
Cause its funny
I think what really fucks me up about Godwyn
is that, given the spells cast if you hit Fia + the fact that theres a 'deathbed dream' going on inside him
and the D twins (who are most relevant in Fia's quest + in regards to TWLID!) having "two bodies and two minds, but one single soul."
he could very well still have a mind, of sorts, in that body
or a conciousness, spirit, sprite - whatever. Something experiential, even if its 'thoughts' aren't quite human.
we're here for woman's rights and wrongs
but there still might be consequences for the second
Kindred of rot are neat but the Scarlet rot is horrendous
yeah, the Outer Gods all have a vicious edge to them
its possible the nature of rot changed since the real ancient stuff, or that the rot god being sealed concentrated its essence in the same way ||St. Trina's sleep has darkened into something much worse than gentle rest||
the dlc does like to underline Outer Gods as related to 'twisted divine elements', or even outright calling the Formless Mother a 'horrible thing'
considering ||the fucking rot god is iirc the ONLY Outer God we know of that was sealed||
pre dlc I was willing to be a little more even handed towards them
like ||giving Mohg more than the FM credit for the blood sacrifice||
but the Bloodfiends kinda disprove that
so it could be Outer Gods are Outer because they are parts of the divine 'gone wrong', and so always have a bit of a fucked up element to them
rot was alright, the God of Rot is rot gone bad
đ€·ââïž
could also be that it's like that because they are not native to the Lands Between
since we know that there are native gods of various types
the Crucible, tutelary deities, etc
it works really well for ||Frenzy as coming from the fingers, if you think the three fingers was made by Midra / originally a two fingers||
Tutelary deities are just spirits
which doesn't make them not gods
yeah well, the Divine Beast Dancing Lion is also just spirits
and the crucible remains odd - I'm not sure I'd even call it a god tbh
and that has a divine element too
though the Divine Beasts are a bit different since they are a sort of
mantling of divinity
the sculpted keepers sort of give up their identity by performing the divine dance of the Dancing Lions and mantle their divinity onto themselves to become semi-incarnated divinities themselves
at least that is how i see it
it's a summoning more than the presence of the actual divinity
they act as a medium for whatever divinity represents the Dancing Lions to act in the world through
whats odd to me about Outer Gods as non-native, is things like the Scarlet Rot or Deathbirds seem very native
and all life in the lands between seems to originate in space regardless, going by what Hyetta and Ymir say about the cosmology
can native even be made as a distinction?
i'd say so
the way i see it is that those which are native from the lands between are those who did not precede it
all things borne of the land
the way i see it, shit like the Greater Will is outer because it didn't originate in the lands between
it came from elsewhere, probably the stars
what of things born of space beings?
||The Two Fingers seem to have been born on planet, compared to their mother||
earthly, or foreign?
i'd say they are native because they are of the lands
certainly their origin is not so
but the fingers seem to have only existed in these lands
they are of the Lands Between
they exist for a purpose which is tied to it
It'd be a lot easier if there was evidence of the Twinbird or God Of Rot as being space beings tbh
it would be yes
i don't think your read is wrong and i think there is certainly evidence for it
but i still hold to my idea of what outer refers to
My perception of the flame of frenzy is completely different. I think it is an exterior being to the outer will and everything else, as primordial as the planet itself, that is so powerful that it can corrupt anything it touches, alive, spirit or dead, even the divine
uses Proper Nouns
gives 5 competing examples
refuses to elaborate
O elden ring, O Elden ring...
i think the Frenzied Flame is as ancient as anything
it knows of the Monad that preceded creation
and considered all other existences a mistake
i think even compared to other gods, outer or not, the Frenzied Flame is in somewhat of its own category
Sometime last year while trying to disprove my theories I swapped over to "The GW isn't an Outer God" or at least the implication of what people mean when they say it I disagreed with
it could, or could not be, but it does seem to be the origin of life
and not just earthly life
its weird in how it relates to the Greater Will
more outwardly antagonistic than any of the others
the real bombshell about the Greater Will in the dlc tbh is how it got related to the Primeval Current, and the endless blackness of space
there were bits of it in the base game too, with the gelmir hexes, prince of death staff / haligtree weaponry using amber (instead of glinstone), sellen's dialogue...
but the dlc made it much easier to cut past the "Well, if you look at this and this and this and-"
makes me understand the nox less now
and honestly think they probably deserved whatever happened to them much more
love stars and the night
piss of stars and the night
try to kill stars / star beings
wear fancy helmets cause space is made at you
what were they cooking.....
honestly i don't really remember what they did to get sentenced to underground hell jail
i mean
because This blood-drenched fetish is proof of the high treason committed by the Eternal City and symbolizes its downfall.
Fingerslayer Blade is kinda fucked
||'they wounded / broke metyr' has become more popular||
they were beefing with aliens but also wanted an age of aliens but also made a fake(?) moon
Makes sense
I dont know WHAT was going on with them
I guess if they liked stars that would be a sort of treason
after the dlc I kind of see their fake stars and fake moon less as expressions of a faith, and more as continuing the mimicry theme
if you'll make artifical humans and dragons, why not artifical celestial life, too?
these woods are scawy
My perspective on the Nox is simple
|| DONT LET WHAT SEE ME HEEEELP ME ||
I still wonder if Gold is indicitive of life in general (and so appears from any concetration of life - or life energy), or a representation of a specific vital energy (and so, everything Gold is connected and from the same source)
||I'm getting random rune drops is something going around killing everything||

guess I'll find out
they had pretty dope architectural sense?

||They had beef with the Greater Will because they saw it as a dominating force that propped up the prior regime (the Hornsent) who pushed them underground to begin with, since they're descendents of the Shamans who remained underground. So they decided to pursue a path of night and find their own way to have a Lord and a God, with blackjack, and hookers. This pissed someone off, potentially the Greater Will itself, and they were smote||
'cause the latter endorses the Crucible = Elden Ring reading, and the first one could or could not
||You think they were coterminous with the birth of the Erdtree at all, or predating Marika?||
||The underground Shamans are pre-Marika, but who knows when they became the Nox? They clearly have predecessors in the form of the Swordhands of Night||
I think re: The Crucible, the two most likely explanations imo are still
- appeared alongside the Golden Comet, spread as this type of living things did.
and - Some sort of innate-goldness to the Lands Between, formed when the planet(?) itself did out of cosmic space debris.
in that order.
Maybe some space for weird theories like "||Metyr brought it||" or uhhhh "||The Old God giants sacrificed themselves and its just like runes when we kill enemies but. on a really big scale.||" or something
but thats because I interpret as Farum's ring being a representation of the physical ring + that the ring was always Mr. Beast (so Eeby must have landed pretty early in the timeline), and that its "oldest of the Erdtree incantations" does make it older than all the Aspects of the Crucible, even the Ruah ones (so the Golden Star was early in the timeline - pre-dlc I put it first, You-Know-Who disproves that. I think I'd still put it pre-Ruah / Divine Tower, and argue the Golden Meteorites(?) at the top are from the same event? ||What The Fuck is The Crucible?!!!
||)
Romina with 5 is almost impressive ngl
I feel like its hard to have that few by then
no i mean the host died in 15 seconds
ohh
yeah
lmao
that is kinda far in
i was under scadued and i was still at
9?
Idr what I was
I actually beat her a while before Messmer
who cares about mr mommy problems this is CRUCIBLE COUNTRY WOOHOOO
looks like I did her before - oh wait
you fight ||The Plant yet||?
had an honestly freaky coop session
the host had the same pink hair and ponytail as me (tough to tell with lighting and phantom stuff)
ohhhh wow sending these screenshots kinda butchered the quality even more
even the same blossom from the dlc as a headpiece
like looking at myself if i went with the frenzied flame
lmao

The Putrescent Knight has one of the more outlandish designs among Shadow of the Erdtree's bosses, which is an impressive feat with how most of the other ones look. It seems there may have been different plans for it at one point, but it's settled into a spot of its own.
Song used: Character Creation - Demon's Souls OST
here's a random thought: ||what if Outer God actually isn't meaningful on a fundamental level, and it's just what people call a whole bunch of loosely-connected things without clear consistency as to their inherent properties?||
yeah maybe
though it would beg the question of, if the category is random, why things like the Gelmir Serpent or Fell God aren't ever referred to as Outer Gods (even for how much the later shows up)
Mayeb because of how ingrained they are to the average person
Fire is common
The serpent has been shown before especially with Scadutree architecture and banners
You wouldnât consider a god you grew up familiar with to be âouterâ
Fire is common but is also sinful, as it is anathema to the tree
God I canât get Bayle
Iâm at scadu 16 it should be easy but the camera is fighting me
GOT HIM
Sealing tree burn time
this is sick as hell
Screenshot timed it right
Now all I need to do is find a way to edit out the hud
Lmao
Might as well do the cheese for the final boss
I have no desire to fight him ngl
Actually..
I have Scarlet Aeonia. I have Antspur. I have a shield
I can do this.
o7
i tried to use antspur but the rot threshold made it not worth it over straight dps for my build
i couldn't get my hits in
for what
final boss
it's only going to work if you're actually good enough to defeat the boss imo
or at least close
Oh dear
if you pair it with shield setup you could probably do it i guess
Do you recommend just doing hidden form and chucking pots
i mean
not really no
but not for that reason
i just think it's maidenless behaviour, but whatever gets you the win in the end, that's just my bias
do what you must to win
if you use Scarlet Aeonia, you're going to need to do something else to go with it
such as grabbing a shield to block out damage and going for a shield and poke
if you can't survive the boss decently, Aeonia is not going to just get you the win
sure yeah
I just have a +25 heater shield
you want to go for something with 100 physical block and as much holy as you can get on it
realistically
either you go for 100 physical block of 100 holy block
you can also go for maximizing both but preferably you want to completely neutralize one or the other
Any specific shields you reccomend
Fingerprint Stone Shield if you have a lot of weight to spare and enough str to use it
Golden Beast Crest if you don't have that much str or weight, it's a good budget option since it still blocks 100% phys and has 55 holy
or if you have both stats and time, Haligtree Crest Greatshield
which weighs less than stone and has slightly better holy res
be warned that the farm for it sucks though
if you've got the faith for it, Lord's Divine Fortification is still incredibly good for the second phase
70 seconds of +60% resist
i was typing this out but had to put my phone away for a bit
old lord also helped me since reapplication windows are rare
i had Lords Divine Fortification and Golden Braid on
same
iirc old lords works even if you remove it after cast it if you are quick
What PCR sees after I apply all my buffs:
ngl I do like the design of having a sidequest reward from Gideon and a sidequest exploration item in the dlc both helping immensely against the final story bosses of both
I have this and marikas braid
Maybe Iâll also do unseen form and mimic veil but idk if I can get the timing down
i just
realized ive never buffed for || PCR||
incredible
i really do just choose raw stats to compensate for my bleed usage
granted i say that even though im very much leaning off of bleed stuff
Edit
After consuming my new cold brew
I am ready to fight PCR.
Iâve improved at melee. I have some hefty rot pots.
Iâll fight over and over until I win.
(If my frame rate doesnât stutter like crazy)

maybe I'll try my ng+ buffless, i never really buffed in ds3 until recently (just picked up the golden vow equivalent), but i feel like I've grown used to it in ER
but i mostly just use golden vow so it shouldn't be too different as long as I'm not getting smacked too much
tbf ER endgame bosses do hit crazy hard
Iâm ggonna farm the eclipse shield
Iâll save the world in style
I have a feeling I might just resort to a cheese
But oh well
Edit
Too high a str requirement
Iâll do icon shield
thinking about Outer Gods, its cool we got the 3 outright confirmed ones (+ the Frenzied Flame) present in the dlc
Red & Blue graveyard + Death/Gravebirds, ||Romina and her rotpests||, and the Bloodfiends (who even gave the Outer God talisman)
and Abyssal Woods, if that counts
makes me think if you want to argue Outer Gods beyond those ||(that are relevant)||, it'd be good to look for things that show up both places - ||Something related to the serpent, maybe?||
what's the first talisman
Carian Filigree Crest
what does it do
reduces FP cost of weapon skills
By 25%
Does this look pretty good chat
it looks clean visually ye
Oh no I meant the build in general
Icon shield heals 5 hp every second or so which should be a nice boost
Iâve never tried blocking PCR attacks how do I do it
regarding the build, does the max hp talisman put you over a 1 or 2 shot threshold
Oh itâs a passive for the shield
maybe the 30% estus talisman could help with survivability
ohh
idk what the shield does exactly
knowledge checked
My talismans are 25% reduced fp usage on skills, holy resist, plus to stamina, plus to stamina regen
.....
May swap out plus to stamina for winged sword
Should I swap it out for winged sword or dragoncrest greatshield
in my experience i didn't get enough windows for winged sword, BUT it might actually be worth for block and poke (i wish that rhymed)
someone else should weigh in since i haven't tried shield poking yet (mayhaps next playthrough)
I must not get mad.
but if you're actually blocking stuff consider getting literally any other greatshield
Hmm
with higher Guard Boost
hmm
I didnât use the rot pots that time
I used Aeonia which didnât inflict anything
Hmm
Maybe I should go back to wing stance and stuff
who are you fighting actually
PCR
ah, so
everyone hates this advice but I swear it's good
medium shield with Golden Parry
oh god
