#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)
1 messages · Page 63 of 1
Yeah probably
its mainly the dialog talking about removing the certainy of emotions and removing her order fomr the ladn that feels very removing god's influence
no more guidence or influnce on someones destiny
I've never really seen the game as about the Gods as agents, at least the distant ones
but more about how people interact with and utilize religion and ideology
Most of the non-human divine actors seem very reactive
||Like the bloodfiends or Romina reaching out to their Outer Gods after persecution, or Shabriri / Nanaya spreading the frenzied flame (and persecution intensifying it), or the Fingers saying 'trust me bro I got a phone-line to god' even as they back different - and mutually exclusive! - empyrean candidates||
Crucible, Current, Order, Rot - they almost act like forces on the world, and its the people who poke at them that cause the big shakeups
It wasn't the Outer God of Scarlet Rot who caused Caelid to turn to what it is, now.
so I can respect this read but I feel like its less compelling to me personally than some of the other options. Kind of takes what I find interesting about ER's cosmology and makes it feel more like traditional fantasies
to me, Ranni's age is less "Mortals v. Gods", and more "No one path is going to be the path"
an inverse of the Shattering, where everyone was lost without guidance - a world where there is no guidance expected, no reflected light, no dominant way of life, no Order.
Just a cold, dark, moon to answer you back.
which is a pretty good ending tbh
what happen?
The sheath is still attached to the sword
oh
The Land of Shadow is home to many enigmatic enemies, but at least the majority of them have some item descriptions to help explain more about themselves. Information is surprisingly scant about these strange sorcerers though, to the point there's unfortunately been a noticeable misconception spreading about them.
Song used: Central Tower - Kin...
LOL
this reminded me of the dmc 5 cutscene where vergil bonks dante with his sheathed sword, which then made me realize that a vergil build is right there, summoned swords and all
Lmao true
🥶
moonveil could work, even though he does Drive with force edge
I guess MLGS is there for that
OH AND THERE'S MARTIAL ARTS NOW
perfect
that's all 3 weapons
i really wish a Frayed Blade R2 skill AoW was added 😔
that flurry of slashes felt so good
and it's one of vergil's normal combos too..

The vtuber Bijou did a Vergil run in ER recently, even got through the DLC committing to the bit.
Congratulations! You've stumbled into the not-totally-implausible theory that the reason why the erdtree stopped dripping sap is because it is now an illusion.
Those thorns sure aren't illusory
The thorns aren't, but the theory basically implies that there's a real stump but the upper portion of it is illusory.
Good point
pulling out a spyglass re-solidifies it, so I consider it a rendering bug
but ghost-tree is semi-popular, yeah
I don't know how that theory explains the Ashen Capital, though - especially the collapsed branches
Ranni aah tree 💀
honestly the biggest issue I have is with the falling leaves
I can't see the tree being illusory when it still occasionally showers golden leaves down
I think 'illusory' might be the wrong word for ER in general
Goldfrey, Ancestor Spirit, Renalla, The Roundtable Hold, Margit- all can be physically interacted with
the Fell Omens can still beat your ass
or Loretta the first
calling any of those illusions isnt wrong, but might have the wrong connotations
could be a spirit tree
construct is probably a better one
imo theres a strong arguement that the final boss of the base game isn't fought on the same 'plane' or mode of reality
It does the spirit calling animation, the difference between the Relic Sword and Marika's body, the entire battlefield changing
🤷♂️
but yeah I can't see any real arguments for it being an illusion or construct when
- it's very obviously physically burnable- not in some metaphorical way, it is clearly burning from real and relatively straightforward (albeit magical n super strong) fire
- it still has other physical manifestations, like roots and leaves, and nothing to suggest what would have lopped off half and left the rest fairly alive
yeah I think in a lot of ways it acts as a seal akin to the ones in raya lucaria
people who subscribe to Great-Tree theory, or the idea that there have been single dominating trees before the Erdtree usually call that the real bits, with the gold a later addition
where it both blocks n then opens to teleport you
though I dont think that read is as well supported
as just - the Erdtree is a big tree
given the DLC cultures we see I'm doubting there was any sort of World-Tree before Marika, at least in the age directly before
even ||The Scadutree is said to be the Erdtrees shadow, and born at the same time as it||
I could see the Erdtree existing in both physical and spirit forms overlapping
it is whats regulating life, death, and spirits in the Lands Between
but its definitely made of wood that you can knock on
The arguments (all in the base game) include the ideas that ||Leyndell has a bunch of ash piles even before you burn the Erdtree and all the windows and doors are sealed against dust/ash|| and ||the weird translucency of the Erdtree in points|| and ||a few other references to illusionary Erdtrees in places, such as in combination with the golden seals and also A DLC Thing|| but it's definitely not that cut-and-dried.
even newer video?
yeah this one dropped earlier today
What's the minimum amount of poise I should be aiming for at all times?
For pvp it really super depends, for pve 51 is the big breakpoint
Right, will 50 be fine or does the 1 point make a gigantic difference?
Right
Current fit has me at 50, 67 if I use Bullgoat
For pvp it’s a whole rabbit hole
So I guess I gotta find some gloves that'll fit and bump it up a tiny bit
Super up to you but that close yeah i’d look for a way to squeeze out one more
I guess Rellana's Gloves go with it alright
That said I frequently just wear pure fashion and accept my poise is dogshit lol
Is that one of the soldier gloves?
Aye, Leyendell
Matches the little pauldron on the Ronin chestpiece weirdly well
...some guy called Pelvis Collector apparently invaded right before the host that summoned me started the boss
I feel I've avoided a fate most gruesome
Oh my
long may the sun shine! 😌
just some area in a location with a message
nothing too spoilery
Seek Storm,
Lord...
I miss the Catarina knights
in the ||fort of reprimand, is the black knight the only boss?|| area and boss spoilies
😔
yes, but theres a few optional parts of that dungeon with other loot
like a ||Marika's Rune|| or ||an Iris||
got those :D
then you got it
looks like theres also a talisman but I think I missed that one
just a better version of ||one of the elemental resists||
||hippo|| down B)
i see
ty!
yeah i don't think I got a talisman
that's 18 dex!!
no more dex talisman for great katana

Bahahaa
Wound up the great katana heavy, thenturned it into a feint
which immediately ugtted the poor guy who was like i'll; roll in and stab em
The great katana moveset has a feint??????
Yup
Also lol, there's this guy who is just spamming Beast's roar in the colosseum
but every time he fightss me and i counter by 8shock* healing
he disconnectes
just like the saddest saltyness ever
^^^^
i have upgraded both of my light greatswords
somber +9 and normal +21 (i ran out of runes
)
gonna mess around with em tmrw
i got 325k from helping someone with elden beast (must've been ng+ or ng+2 😌 )
honestly, leveling higher means i probably get more ng+ hosts
and they seem to know what they're doing, which is nice
except for a dlc summon I got, I think that was a scadutree check tho
and I got a dlc hunter summon!! the red ran away so we did an area boss (no fog gate)
I was originally posted up outside, but ended up smacking the boss for fun, then the red came in
I shouldn't have abandoned my post, but the host died, the red pointed down, and the co-operator killed the boss which counted as a successful defend 😌
way less str, more dex
also level 328 with only 60 vig is deranged
wouldn't you be in like NG+2 or +3 by that point?
seems super sketchy
but yeah, star-lined wants 80 dex
It starts being a lot less useful after 60 (like +5 per level) yeah
Roight, 71 dex with Millicent's Prosthesis
I'm keeping some strength because I also enjoy larger weapons sometimes
Time to hit up the dumbass bird in Mohgwyn
softcap, but yes
Softcap, yeah, my bad
hardcap means literally no increase (or no ability to increase)
so 99 for every stat except str
in ER
Does STR not have a softcap?
nope
er
yes
softcap
it does not have a hardcap
which is the one i was talking about :v
Ah, right
str used to be able to go over 99 in ER just naturally
God I remember that
as in, if you hit 99 and added things like the starscourge heirloom or the str tear, you'd manually go to 114
Kinda miss it
but now it only goes over 99 when two-handing
damn, STR had it like that?
Related to this, is it worth farming gold horn tender?
i believe it was a quirk of their attempts to keep the 2h overflow
probably way faster to just farm the fowl feet
True
30% vs 40%
and the farm is probably a lot more than that 10% slower
like uh
20-30%
maybe more, idk if there's a good grace to farm from like the bird one in caelid
There's the spot in ||Midra's Manse||
||Where there's three inquisitors the room right next to a grace on the third floor||
hehehehehehehehehehe
Funi number
782 AR is passable, right?
...wait, no, it'd be 15% higher
899 AR
Yeah that seems pretty decent
'passable' you can say good. That's pretty good. 😛
Lol
And when I get but one level in dex I'll have a full 900+ AR
...though I question if I'd get better results dual wielding these
...oh right I forgot I don't like powerstanced katanas
fun fact, did you know you can get an angle on Mohg from outside his arena?
he didn't even notice the test arrows I shot at him though so he might be invincible lol
(this is for a build who should absolutely not be fighting mogh though lol, she's like level 50 and most of that is just getting vig to something respectable)
(and she's wearing both seals to get her str and int up to par, so...)
Man i wasn’t aware the mound maker covenant was in elden ring
iirc the old bug was that you could apply status but not damage by shooting mohg like that. so you had to get 99 serpentbone arrows and try to poison him to death. supposedly this was patched out w the pre DLC patch though, as well as another mohg cheese
someone made notes made about SOTE's translations
just finished ng+ time to rego in the dlc to get a second milady
I appreciate the frequent “please don’t insult the translators, they did a good job with what they had”
my brother might have accidentally told me which boss is in this area 😭 but i guess i could've guessed
but he came by and checked out my build 😌
yeah its an unenviable spot to be in
plus (imo) people are really quick to jump to mistranslation versus just 'same point but said in a weird way on purpose'
games text is written obscured
I like the cultural detail they underline ||for the Shamans||
||while specifying 'yeah idk what else you'd use but Shaman'||
(I'm also a fan of the Potentate wordplay)
you're at Shadow Keep?
yems
Marika the Itako….
Shaman King flashbacks
Lmao look at this dude's fashion
its definitely another point of evidence towards "Marika as Torrent's former owner" or "Roderika reminds Hewg of Marika / parallels her"
This also raises questions about just how much potential Roderika has
She may straight up be a minor member of the Golden Lineage, and her fears regarding grafting may be a little different than they are on the surface - her conflicted feelings about being reunited with her men might be because she'd expect to be the face of the spider, and not an arm of it
she specifically mentions a head, even.
roderika is probably not remotely related the golden lineage considering she isn't from the lands between
I mean, neither are the Numen.
like she's tarnished so technically a descendant of the warriors but considering she seems to be a noble from a different country, I think it's highly unlikely
80 dex reached baybee
Now each swing of me sword deals 911 damage, thanks to the Two Handed Sword Talisman
Which I reckon ain't half bad on a katana
What staff/seal would be best for my build?
Remind me what GB is?
||Metyr's Finger Staff||
||I'd call it Finger Staff but I didnt want to spoil tag it each time||
afaik at 60/60 its comparable or ahead of Prince of Death and Fundie, and lets you cast anything
its ahead at 50/50
i want that 2h talisman 😩 is it relatively late in the dlc?
its rushable
It's not, no, it has 343 scaling compared to PoD's 391 and Fundie's 380
This is only part of the picture fwiw - if you have lopsided investment, pod gets better earlier. 60/40 performs better than 50/50
This look decent? Trying for an armored/longcoat look.
the talisman is just in a chest, and while it's not super close to the starting area its definitely rushable
||there's one recently hard boss guarding it, but you can take a detour to a spiritspring to jump up and skip her. I would strongly recommend googling the path if u want that though - it's not trivial to find||
I can help with said boss
yeah its something you'll find if you really explore, but ||you gotta find the right ruin||
mb I replaced all the spellcasting numbers in my head with item descriptions
oop
you could probably do it in ~5m of running around if you had directions, maybe a couple hours without :p
paired weapons won't work
you need to have both hands on your weapon to get 2H talisman boost
Huh, some neat stuff here
Though also some stuff that I realize I read correctly that other people didnt
I always figured that Romina's line meant ||'weave into' as 'integrate', not 'create from'||
||She added the funny magic bud to the scarlet rot to create the Red Pests and her exploding butterfly stuff||
doesn't work on weapon skills either
walked past a man playing Elden Ring on the sidewalk in San Francisco. this is the last shred of art + culture left in this city!!!
💖 22.84K 🔁 1.6K
😏 aight
thanks luna

maybe I'll go grab it later
some talismans have bizarre restrictions
What do y'all think, drip or drown
mmmm i'm not going to say drown but something does feel off to me
why you gotta drip check in front of the crucified guy
Aesthetic
LOL
agreed, for me the crucible knight shoulders are a bit too wide without a helmet, but it still looks good
True
Suddenly wondering how blue silver chest would go with dane’s hat on the subject of a longcoat look, but my gut tells me the color match is too much of a stretch
Blue Silver Chest is one of my favorite pieces that feels impossible to match with anything lol
Aye
Cause it's such a specific color
And any bracers thicker than paper rolls the sleeves up
Yeah I remember when I was trying out fits and first noticed the sleeves rolling up and practically died laughing
the mighty elbows
oh that's cool armor
the full set looks like this
but yeah basically anything but bracelets rolls the sleeves up, and the mail skirt doesn't come with shoes
I actually don't hate the coif but I think it works better as a chain coif for use with plate armor than it does on top of the chest piece. I've seen it used with Rellana's set and looks great there
the longcoat on the chest piece is really cool but unfortunately the color, while this pretty bluish-silver, visibly mismatches with almost everything else you could think to pair it with
oh and just for good measure it sucks ass to grind because it's a low% drop from the Archers at Ordina.
The hat looks... surprisingly good, actually
Proving once more that Dane's Hat goes good with literally anything
Only issue being, they have... really terrible poise
And defense
Only have 35 poise with this setup sans Bullgoat, 45 with it
And the defenses are Not Great even with Pearldrake and Dragoncrest
I mean, yeah, it's 1000% a fashion pick
I gave up on poise and decent defenses long ago, when the game was new, before armor was buffed to be worthwhile
Though Solitude greaves don't stand out hugely
like, by my sixth playthrough, this was my outfit for 95% of the game
Lmao fair
As one should
Consort Mask, Cleanrot Chest/Greaves, Crucible Gauntlets?
Good picks
...I could
Perhaps
Embrace it
Low equip load and Blue Dancer Charm
That's a fantastic fit
Will Blue Dancer do anything for me at this equip load?
...oh, it'd barely give me any boost
Tbh Blue Dancer seems like it's only useful for Naked Fucker With A Stick builds
Be a lot more useful if it was just a flat % of "if you're at Light you get X% more damage"
more than 8 units and you don't really care about it overmuch
oh lol i didn't scroll
which is real rough when your talismans alone probably weigh 4-5
Aye
16 units is the point after which you get less than a 110% scale
i.e. when it's just not good
that said dragon communion builds can get some real bang for their buck out of Blue Dancer
flat units gives it a lot of charm to me
it makes it more interesting
instead of just "yet another 10% physical damage boost talisman"
it's specifically for physical damage but Dragonmaw/Claw work great, dragon communion seal weighs 0, and you can use ||the rock heart|| for more Dragon Communion Buff and flat defense at 0 weight
i've been making good use out of it on my current run, anyway
but the gnaaa button would probably make it even better
oh, Rot Breath is also phys so it'd apply to that too
not the rot scaling though, just the damage part
though rot breath does surprisingly respectable base damage anyway
I didn't comment but this is very solid
leda's armor looks good on anyone, admittedly 😛
Huh, prelate greaves don't look half bad with this
these knights hurt
Black or Fire?
I think some of the dagger moveset could calm down on tracking, or something, but they are real coole
Nah you have a crown

Dagger knights are awful to fight unless you can stunlock em
I did get into a fun place where charged Rancor / Glintstone Phalanx was perfectly enough to stagger them into oneshot crit territory
but also; that place is cursed for phalanx

just have to dodge the lifesteal fist++
I wish we got that 😔
how has your.... dex? run been going rose
Getting hit by that was emotionally devastating on bow only because I’d already used half my arrows
I think I ended up switching from dex to something else, but it's been a bit since I played

noooooo
idk where to go next...
if only i had a map
trying to get to da map..
oh
someone was yapping earlier
never found em
Will using literally any mods make me unable to go online?
Kinda considering getting one that makes Dane's hat a nice dark shade
Afaik, yes
Kinda dig Lusat's manchettes with blue silver mail, gives me a wandering mage-knight kinda vibe
Even seamless co op?
That is the exception and i dont know what dark wizardy they do to get it working
sold their souls to Miyazaki obviously
Oh, there we go.
It works by disalbing easy anti-cheat.
And usign a different save file structure etc
And if it breaks it might break your whole game right
i thought it also does what some of the other mods do for older games and runs on its own server
Afaik the only thing that can break is if you try and convert a seamless coop save file back into a normal save file. At which point you're liable to eat a ban for going online with it, due to illegal items.
Why does fromsoft hate mods so much lmao
japan in general just doesnt care about them
i honestly can't think of a single japense game with decent mod support, its either hostile or just don't care about it entirely
most of the anti mod stuff in elden ring is just anti cheat stuff
its pretty much ff14 that seems the most postive about it
Less mods, more cheating. Now is easy anti cheat an appropriate solution? No fucking clue
i feel if there was any big one that i could see being really suportive
it woudl be sega
As I understand it, it's only in recent years PC has really become a thing in Japan, it was previously mostly a console domain
sega seems to be the company that feels the most supportive of fan works in general
And modding consoles is well off the beaten path already compared to PC games
i know capcom hates mods a lot, and nintendo is hostile towrds anything even remotely unoffical
iirc they know about Seamless Co-op and mentioned they don't mind it
yeah fromsoft id put in the "don't care, but might accidently make it harder"
Yeah i'm fairly sure they made a statement that they know about it and at least had positive thoughts about it
in a perfect world fromsoft would learn from seamless co-op's netcode
but this is not a perfect world...
yknow what fuck it
im gonna just start throwing stuff at people aswell as my incantations
Bayle continues a long line of DLC dragon bosses, but definitely put one of the most unique spins on the position, especially with Igon's desperate vendetta against him capturing the hearts of many players just on the strength of his voice acting.
Song used: Village Ruins - King's Field IV OST
Dragon Communion Ahab
TIL that (boss spoiler)||Bayle The Dreads boss arena is absolutely covered in Dragon Calorbloom, a flower that exclusively sprouts just once from the heart of a dragon communion warrior||
||Unsurprisingly Bayle has been utterly massacring all Drake Warriors who dared to face him||
This seem like a decent talisman setup?
Considering swapping the prosthetic and the pearldrake for Flock's Canvas and Graven Mass
Two hand talisman with dual weapons?
Staff and sword
Oh, that
I two-hand when I want to attack and one-hand when I wanna cast
It's worked out fine for me
Silly headcannon: there’s definitely more Vykes and Lannseaxxes in the world
I do know Pearldrake is kind of not the greatest elemental defense talisman but it covers my weaknesses well enough and I can swap to a more specific one
There are 1000% more dragonfuckers than him in the Lands Between
...actually, is their relationship romantic? I can't recall.
Yes
My comment stands, then
Lannessax’s glaive and Vykes Dragonbolt note it as an enduring relationship and how awful it was when Vyke vanished
Oh yeah they were romantic with each other
Also lan is said to have turned into a human often
If we go by the Dragon Cult Prayerbook all ancient dragons can do it
I refuse to believe all the ancient dragons are dead there’s gotta be tons more because Farum Azusa present day is crumbling but you encounter three ancient dragons and the ones in the sky have the white scales of ancient dragons too
||Igon's|| armor was originally Rico's?!?
bro you cannot be following saint trina with fit like that
he needed a fashion check for sure
Lan would probably be pretty miffed that the reason he disappeared was so he could protect some other maiden
Godwyn and Fortissax
Absolutely
And remember the fingerprint armor has all the burns on the back, with a few on the front
He tried to nope the fuck out
But it was too late
Dragon wife.. nice to me.. kills my foes with lightning
Poor Vyke
Jesus CHRIST
Got invaded by some fucker called Mama Smurf, they spawned in the same room as us and jumpscared me with a Cannon of Haima
Was funny ngl
Minding our own business when all of a sudden
Vyke's burns actually look almost identical to the Tarnished's burns to me
Also the fact that they can melt iron armor presumably also with some form of lightning enchantment on it because that’s what Vyke had access too is scary
from the back
Yeah it’s probably a generic pattern gameplay wise
His armor has the fingerprint pattern in the front
Grabbed from behind
My point is that he looks like he was grabbed in the same post as the player character
Since the armor is damaged in the same locations as the burns on the player
Maybe true
Vyke definitely recanted the Flame though
I both love and hate this
?
Oh I meant the build in general
idk how to explain it lol sorry
in terms of the talismans they're... fine?
very standard imo
Roight
Is it the fact that I have low poise and defenses persnaps
Nah I also played low poise
Screaming
Malekith is so hard
Oh my fucking god
I have the claw but I don’t know how to parry
He is stupidly hard to parry
I thought it was golden flash and parry
Can’t you cheese the fight with the claw
I saw all these people flawless parrying him and I thought if I get the claw I win
GOT HIM

I keep thinking it’ll be easier with each run
But I keep forgetting
Some of these bosses are rough regardless
yeah he still has a bunch of moves before the golden flashes
Hmmm
Debating debating
Ranni ending or fia
I just killed astel
Alecto pisses me off
Holy shit
Got her
Black knives fucking suck to fight, I feel you there
Ordina was awful for me, would've been worse but I brought my trusty rusty Darkmoon Greatsword
the fire giant whip is really good vs them
aww almost got maliketh down but he targeted the host both times
update
i REALLY like the smithscript greathammer
its like im just throwing a school bus at people
You should throw round rocks
i see you found the video too
🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀
actually you can't even see the boss in this screenshot
light greatswords are great (hahaha) fun
they make light (hehehe) work of the enemies

Be wary of river,
horse...

time for dog
Could this be a dog?
...random thought, shouldn't the Sword of Night be the lightest katana? Since the blade is only half-corporeal and thus you're only really carrying around the weight of a sword hilt.
Lightly toasted
Honestly, hard agree
Would've been cooler
legit I saw Melania was trending on Twitter and because Malenia has been trending non-stop for like a week I thought she somehow got under the Politics tag
i dislike that theres only one normal greatkatnaa / light gs
i think they should have either made another or placed another copy somewhere of each
How do I get the Sword of Night to output some half-decent damage?
yeahh, 1 normal and 2 unique is a bit restrictive 😩
Pump dex?
Like it's a pure dex weapon
It's at 80 already 😩
...ah, is it?
Yeah?
I thought 712 was Not Very Great for NG+2
Fuck man, i dont play NG+ X
Well I feel kinda stupid now
At that point you're looking at stuff that can scale off multiple of stats
Journey 3 nerd here, 700+ is fine, but if you're really itching for more damage you can always grab shit like the jellyfish shield or golden vow
For what? you asked a fair question
You're fine, i'm not like swearing at you
though i can see how that came off as aggressive, and apologies
my understnading is for NG+ styuff you're often looking at weapons that have good scaling in multiple stats
Like ancient Meteoric Greatsword, whcih as 0.9 str scaling and 0.47 arc scaling
and even has 0.09 dex scaling (woooo)
Please note the idfference between it at minum dex and maxium dex is like... 30 ar.
While not untrue, NG+2 is still pretty early on where you can still focus on what you like over stats
And even then if things are getting too tanky, there's other options - Bleed or scarlet rot for % damage, Blackflame stuff
Yeah, buffs get you some pretty stratopsheric gains
my milady is "Just" aroudn 600 ar normally.
golden vow is so piss easy to cast and if you just really dont wanna, contagious fury is a good no fuss option
(and comes with a 100 physical negation greatshield too)
but that 600 ar can go nuts rapidly if i slap on two-hander talisman
or shard of alexander
Note i believe they can stack as fury is unique and vow is body
Are you... certain?
L:emme doubel check real fast
Aha, it's not unique, it's an Aura Buff
which is a rare category.
Ah aura
vow is probally the best in it
Yeah it is
The only other things in it are the otehr versions of Golden Vow (consumable and weapon art), Uplifting Aromatic (But only the attack buff, not the bubble), and Shared Order.
i just use dragonbolt instead for personal preference
Also rallying Standard and Stormwhawk Deenh
Dragonbolt is a body buff, not a aura buff
so you can stack both
i used stormhawk since i had no faith and i wanted to give the bird a chance
Oh
Yeah
the other dragonbolts ARE body but come with a lightning damage negation penalty to my memory
I was about to say there are two -otehr dragonbolt spells and they're both body
Yeah florissax's is just kinda Weird and is an aura
It also seems worthless vs Golden Vow
since it gives you... the same damage negation and slgihtly better guard boost, but no damage buff
Yep
anyways i still use it cause i prefer it
Fairnuff.
Also its cheaper which means more heal from afar casts for me in the long term
I ugesS? at that point like i dont find the cost differnece relveant, i do'nt even really run out of either type of flask these days, even with a 10/4 split
and i'm using a mask that penalizes flask healing, so i use HfA a fair bit
I'm just not understanding the use case i thin kis my point
But it sounds like we're doing very differnet things in game, so that's probably fine
Okay
Anyway, it's worht looking at stuff like talismans
the way buff stacking works out in this game, more buffs do better
eg the resutls of having Rotten Winged & Milicents are much stronger than either one indivudally.
and much stronger than you'd expect for simply adding them togther
or like you'd think two giant's seals would be a 40% daamge buff right? (20% from each), but it's actually a 44% damage buff.
So if you wanna go in on say, Dragoncult stuff, it;'s worth really cranking as many modifiers as you can - have the gravel stone in one hand, have the erd tree in the other (Because erdtree's scaling is too good to not use). Wear the faith's talismans, put on the lighting scorpion, wear the full ||Death knight|| set, etc
add in golden vow etc, because the more modifiers you add, the nuttier stuff gets
(You can do the same with damage mitigation stacking)
Though it's harder because a lot of the damage mitigation options are exclusive with each other
Aye, for fair reasons mind you
Oh, abosltoeuy, as it is you can spike your effective hp to stupid levles
like "I have funcitonally 20k hp" isnt that unachivelable
you can get truly daft amounts of ehp
Plus you can stack goofy amounts of regen on top of that
no matter what you do, your base AR is not climbing above like 700-900 unless you're hitting hardcaps for weapons with a bunch of scaling. 700 sounds very reasonable for a normal medium sized weapon up to like NG+4
I mean
you can get as high as 1k but only on colossals with highly advantageous scaling
not counting colossals, obviously
yeah
and i'm also not talking damage numbers, i just mean the number that shows up in on your weapon info pre-buffs. like r2 motion values can make 700 -> 1400 easy
you can also get that higher with split damage infusions, and you can totally get higher with like 60 int/faith and using weapon buffs and then 60 in your main stat for damage probably
my personal assumption is 60 vigor, 40 endurance, 80 main damage stat, 60 off damage stat for NG+2-4, which is 50+30+70+50 = 200. which is level 201 flat (assuming wretch)
Anvil Hammor 😋
I'm hitting 1.2k on my anvil hammer lmao
Here's my stat spread, just subtract 5 from each score, I'm using Godrick's rune in this pic
yeah ur definitely overleveled but thats also definitely like. your max for damage with moonveil for the rest of the game
Or just about anything
im honestly more impressed you're that high level
how much time did you spend farming albinaurics? assuming this is still ng+2 like you said or whateve
I've been playing this save file for a good 500 fucking hours lmfao
I've spent a lot of time plinking that dipshit bird and hitting albinaurics with waves of gold
there's no way you're hitting 339 naturally i think even on two full playthroughs including DLC
makes sense
Helps that I've been summoned out to help others a lot lately
Successful boss kills rack up over time
Not to mention invaders
i generally play my save files legit for the first 2 NG cycles, then after that i wrongwarp speedrun the next 4-5 ng cycles until i'm at like ng5 or above
since otherwise u get an awkward spot where NG+3 you've got maxed out damage and you're blitzing things
so you gotta power level the enemies so one r2 doesn't squash everything until the mountaintops
Personally I find that steamrolling kinda cathartic
idk its cathartic to an extent. i think the main reason i do this is to actually have fun trying different builds
...I'm like 2 achievements away from 100% the game, good Christ I need to get a life
like, the one i most recently skipped a bunch of NG for is a rot/poison build, and i literally can't do my funny rot blooms twice thing if they die before poison procs with 160 buildup LOL
damn i'm surprised you haven't
I think the only one I'm missing is the Frenzied Flame ending
damn, you've never done a frenzied flame run?
Nein
wild
I unfortunately suffer from Bleeding Heart-itis and hate being even kinda mean in a video game
ever picked up flame to needle it away?
Total world-ending apocalypse isn't my forte
on a NG run where you have frenzied flame + frenzied burst + the seal from the start, its pretty fun. the stagger on the charged version is so high lol
Overly tormented by the suffering of others? Feeling afflicted by how much misery the world finds itself in? Longing for an end to the pain?
well, the Frenzied Flame can help with that!
🙂
Nihilistic apocalypses are the quitter's way out
And dagnabbit mama ain't raised no quitter
We're gonna reconstruct this damn world back into something livable and accept that suffering is as much a part of life as joy and we're going to LIKE IT >:[
Queen Marika has high hopes for us, that we continue to struggle, unto eternity.

not going to lie, I think I'm a bit of an unironic Gideon fan
underrated fromsoft npc
...random question, do the Sword of Night/Serpentbone Blade R2s block damage the same way the Carian Knight Sword's R2s do?
I'm not sure what you're referring to
Oh, right
"Only this sword and the Lazuli Glintstone Sword have this move)."
every time I see melina and messmer drawn together I can only think of this meme because it's the exact vibe I think they'd have when they hang out together. just complete and utter haters

hey that's me!
chat i'm famous
elden ring is probally the easiest soulslike to 100% by far
no wierd grinding
Wait did a lot of folk struggle with dancing lion?
i did not cause it was the second to last boss i fought
i didn't even though it was the first boss i fought
Huh, fair
saw a video that caught my eye about analyzing the boss due to how much some folk died to it
was a little surprised to see it
I beat it on the first try thanks to the only bro I can trust: mimic tear.
We both kinda slammed it into a corner with copious amounts of double-handed axe blows.
I went that way first and on low Blessing anything is brutal so I figure a lot of the deaths are just folks that went left at the first crossroad
it was my first boss
got it in maybe 10-15 tries, it was just learning how to use the great katana, and how to dodge that double spiral attack
my main issue with the boss was the camera lock on point is too high
Man thinking about how fucked up Ofnir’s “Marika has high hopes for us. That we struggle unto eternity” line is
What're your thoughts on it
He found out that she wanted the golden order gone and took that as “oh okay anarchy forever is her design”
How much do you think is cope
Like "I can't figure this out so clearly it's not meant to be figured out"
Ofnir more like "off-by-a-country-mile"
He sounds mentally unwell tbh
imo
its because the clearest read for Marika's goals is "I want to die"
Gideon investigates the lands between, and comes to the conclusion Marika doesn't just want the Tarnished to kill the demigods
Yeah Marika sux
she wants them to kill the god too
cant bring herself to do anything meaningful so she throws a depressive divine tantrum
I think its less that he 100% believes she wants the current state of the world
it is meaningful in a sense but it also kinda just intentionalyl fucks everyone
and basically its him falling into a hopeless state
She must want the current state of the world - what she asks is impossible
he loses heart, basically
he thinks its like a curse
see, I'd contest this!
I think he got it on the money - Marika wants you to kill the God of the Golden Order
he's isn't wrong on her will
he's just shitting himself about that
(and there might be a little bit of a crisis of faith in there too)
True
For how arrogant Gideon is, I do like that theres some geniune respect he has for you
even in his final fight he compliments you a few times
this underscores the tragedy of her + Radagon too, imo
and unifies how Radagon seeks self-perfection and perfection of the order
bro doesn't want to be broken
I can't say I 100% fault either of them, if thats the read
Absolutely so; even a bit of envy, I think. This is a guy who's been intent on becoming elden lord from day 1 and mobilizing every resource and connection he has to build up to it. Meanwhile you're some nobody who came out of the woodworks one day and started personally killing them one by one. He absolutely respects you as a rival, even THE rival, especially since you've been shrugging off his assassination attempts for months question mark
Local man builds entire life around maxim "knowledge is power" only to discover that beating things up real good is power
He unga, therefore he bunga
Hey, he's dumb enough to get a g uy into volcano manor literally wearing the surcoat marking him as working for gids
who
There's a recusant who invades you in Limgrave
Near the colossieum
and then later you can find said recruusant dead in rykard's arena
and loot the eye surcoat off him
i see....
to be fair, Volcano Manor has all kinds of traitors still wearing their old armor
||And Rykard was going to eat him either way||
when is the cutoff for receiving volcano manor quests? is it killing rykard, because then tanith moves?
killing rykard definitely clears them, yes
i don't think volcano manor cuts off if you burn the erdtree - and it's definitely fine if you hit mountaintops, because you need to reach there to finish it
patches questline breaks technically if you finish it too quickly (or kill tanith) but
i see
i was still able to finish the first quest, but then tanith wasn't there to give me another
no katana ahead
i'm pretty sure you don't get the rewards for turning them in either
you get scaled set/crepus vial/juno's stuff for killing each npc, and turning each one into tanith gives magma shot/serpentbone/taker's cameo
so i think you do have to make sure to turn in each quest beforehand, you can't kill the last npc -> immediately kill rykard without talking to tanith first
they're probably the closest thing to a legitimate cult out there in the lands between
im not counting ||mohg because brain zappy is unfair||
but yeah he helped out on the night of black knives, decided to turn to heresy after the shattering, and then his goals changed from simply taking over as lord into devouring everybody when he merged with da big snake
it doesn't, though Bernahl's quest does break if you burn the erdtree before doing his friendship invasion
ah, makes sense
i wonder if that maens you can't get the blasphemous claw
i feel like there's so many edge cases with npc quest-tied invasions its a miracle i got the items in the first place
I think he still appears in Farum Azula if you didn't do the invasion, you just miss out on the rewards from that
one thing i wish they hadn't kept is the inability to co-op or invade if the boss of the area is dead
there's very few situations where it's a huge deal but it led to stuff like the vyke invasion not working if you killed rennala
Volcano manor are massive bad news, and the only reason the player base does shit with them is it's the easy way to get a bunch of others unobtainable armor
depends on your stance on Might-Makes-Right ideology, gluttony, and forcibly meshing people into a meat-pile for personal gain.
so I'd say pretty awful, yeah
Rykard is The Worst
Oh cmon he JUST wants to make a big happy family
He's JUST a father trying to make a family with his wife and snake-child
Or, well, a bigger family
the spell just appeared on the table
you know its bad when Godrick comes off looking like a less depraved version of you
when i completed the first quest
Reminds me of that one Horus Heresy novel where the Alpha Legion, supposedly the most effective spy and espionage operation in the galaxy (to the point that suggesting people are AL double agents is a memey joke)... marks their operatives with tattoos of their symbol
I'm a little mad about the all-knowing surcoat bc I don't want to be associated with Gideon but it's legitimately good fashion
tbf, the spy infiltrated well enough to be granted audience
i wish there were more chainmail surcoats (non-Lordsworn)
I wish you could pop the breast-shields off the knight armors
you can kinda
oh?
nah removing the cape still keeps the breast shield
blue and red hoods do as well
not sure about others
but glemir looks really good with confessor helm
Do the Dryleaf Gloves look good with this?
Trying to add elements that match with the hat to make it seem less out of place
Brown looks .. off
...honestly, I think no hat works best
I'll equip an altered commoner's headband cause like, I ought to have SOMETHING there and it's so subtle it practically doesn't exist, but no hat seems best
Blue Silver Mail
It’s one of my favorite pieces of armor but difficult to match with anything
Mostly because anything thicker than paper rolls its sleeves up REALLY far
Which limits you to a handful of gloves
Oh that sucks
Unless you don't mind the rolled up sleeves look
Which tbf it doesn't look terrible, I just want long sleeves personally
Just a really funny tiktok where someone was talking about how the big nokron corpse thrones aren’t ever elaborated on
And he eventually just settled on “Yknow what man, it’s none of my buisness, whatever”
likely giant sort
my friends going through the base game again, and forgot most of what happened his first playthrough
getting more into the lore
asks me stuff like "so whats the deal with the Revenants"
¯_(ツ)_/¯
theres a lot of stuff thats not as clear-cut
||imo the big skeletons are probably more mimicry, since the Nox did a lot of that between the tears + the false sky + the black moon* + the dragonkin. *if you think it was something they built in a city, and not a 'true' celestial body||
(final boss spoilers for SOTE)||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctkOZiQOcF0||
Radahn's Greatswords all being in the Colossal Sword category has always been a bummer to me.
So I changed that, they're now Curved Greatswords, with a custom moveset.
While the custom moveset is already available in my now released mod, I've made a few little changes to it so it flows better.
And for the next update, I've merged the 2 new gre...
this is pretty fucking cool
having the ||radahn sword AoW's as parts of a stance is genius||
those 2h moves fucking slap????
yup
Y’all am I not getting something
I’m seeing a lot of people online saying the story fell flat
And that the Japanese translation leaves out a lot of context
And that ||it should have been Godwyn||
The translation actually does have a few issues, there’s an article in this thread about it somewhere
The story worked for me but not for everyone, it’s understandable IMO
Not everyone is going to resonate with ||the drama/tragedy of being forced to oppose Miquella by simple logic of only one of you being able to succeed||
|| On this specifically, i think a lot of people just really want more stuff about godwyn in general||
sanity meter going down
||Never going to escape this take despite the fact that Godwyn has literally been the single most dead person in the entire lore since the shattering||
not meaning to come off angry btw i'm just tired of seeing people ||say it should have been Godwyn instead of Radahn when he literally does NOT HAVE a soul to use for the revival ritual in the first place||
||It's just not exciting to see a boss that has already had a perfectly spectacular fight for round 2 but lasers and less cinematic.||
||i get that and i respect that but if you tell me that it should have been Godwyn i am going to shoot a laser beam made out of madness out of my glowing yellow eyes||
Like it makes no fucking sense
Everyone seems so negative in some shape or fashion to the dlc
||i loved the boss and i think it's fair not to like it narratively, even if i think complaining about difficulty is mostly a skill issue personally, but it cannot be fucking Godwyn, the lore does not support this ever under any circumstance, his soul is completely gone, and the ritual does not work without a soul||
Yup the game they wrote sure made it specifically impossible they couldn't have adjusted what a secret scroll said or whatever
||it's probably the autism in me but it drives me fucking spare whenever someone mentions Godwyn in relation to the final boss||
But truly it's fine it's just a dumb boss
||he is literally the ONLY CHARACTER IT CANNOT BE||
Instead we got nothing which is a move I guess
||it's literally only him that cannot possibly fulfill that role out of everyone in the entire lore, Patches is closer to being Promised Consort than Godwyn by what the lore sets up||
||still a bit disappointing that we didn't really get more Godwyn lore but it is what it is||
Bit of a massive waste
overall i am very pleased with the DLC
Yerr
i'd honestly put it at minimum as a 9/10
Everything but the last 2%
absolute lowest i would possibly go ratings wise
i think it's honestly just a 10/10 follow up to a 10/10 game
Just gonna headcanon that with some extra sprinting stopped em before he gets up there
internet bias phenomenon
i've personally just not kept up with the discourse surrounding it
cause i just don't have the energy to deal with people shitting on something i truly enjoyed
This is also the strat for continuing to enjoy Helldivers the internet is very mad about nothing over there
yes
it's very fun when I play, just a lil stale
and the dlc has been great so far
i don't really know what I'm doing with the big open world guys tho
you'll figure them out
Stances for AoW are just underused in general, honestly
Especially since we just got a talisman for them
I'm playing Lies of P and it is giving me ideas
society....
||you can tell when someone's only experienced elden ring through reddit by their complaints at a lack of godwyn content||
(SOTE boss spoilers) ||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtO7Ls2szt0||
Showcasing a new elden ring mod that adds a new great katana to the game that is inspired by Bayle. It has physical, fire and lightning damage to reflect Bayles fire lightning and features a flashy custom ash of war with unique moveset when performed. You can find the mod here on nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/5892
man these modders are cooking
i'm not very familiar with the nodachi moveset, are any of the base moves different?
or is it just that ridiculous aow moveset?
gotcha
I saw someone call ||Castle Sol the most plot critical area / question of base Elden Ring - like the biggest loredrop in the whole game||
and I just knew they'd lost the plot
lmao
||Its literally a side area on the way to the much more important - and framed as such - Haligtree!||
||idk something something Godwyn something Eclipse||
they just thought it was a huge smoking gun, that needed to be resolved
and its like, eh
lol
I feel like the dungeon's story was basically finished
dlc answered my biggest ones (Marika characterization + ||something more to how R + M's two-people thing worked||) so I'm chilling
I try to be more text-literalist and it was annoying for Marika having to write out a theory if her personality and motives were A and another if it was B and another if it was C
though it added the question of ||why she waited so long to get revenge on the hornsent - why purge them at all so much later?|| and the implication ||she actually was allied with them at the birth of the Erdtree||
those questions are way more fun though
I think the thing that gets me when people complain about the DLC is saying ||Miquella acts completely diffferently from his base game characterization / 'completely dropped Unalloyed Gold'||
I want to go home....
||what are they on about he's literally doing everything in Shadow for the same motivations that led him to build the Haligtree. Divesting himself of Trina / his mother's legacy is a continuation of his search for a 'purer' gold, untainted. He's still got all the holy magic. ||
and then Elden Ring!
yes!!!
i beat bloodborne last night and now I'm gonna get back to the ER dlc
I should probably stop co-oping 😭 it's fun but I do want to finish (or get close to finishing) the dlc this week, otherwise I can try to finish it on my laptop (does not run it the best)
i'm pretty sure the base moves are all the same with the exception of whatever that fire swing at the very very start was
most-to-all of the nodachi moves in base ER are taken directly from sekiro, lol. you look exactly like owl doing some of the combos
lol
LMSH is fighting the final boss live rn and the current host of fingers is Roronoa Zoro
ough i'm lost 😩
are scadutree fragments random drops??
i just got one from a shadow dude
(and a gold horn tender, thank you shadow dude)
only from shining shadow people with pots on their heads and only once per
dang
ty

i was summoned against invasions twice and won
O good hunter...
WHOA
visions of fire..
furnace golems are tough 😔
Tbh I think the dlc is perfect companion to the wider story of the game
in terms of story im just disppointed about lack of gloam eye queen stuff
||expanding on the cycles of suffering and oppression by extending them even further into the past, MASSIVELY fleshing out Marika’s character, and resolving Miquella’s storyline very well imo||
I like how it tied together the divinity and family stuff even more
That’s fair but I prefer the GEQ to be as vague as it is
She has faded into obscurity in universe, and that in turn means she’s obscure to us
||underscores the 'purpose' theme of the game, and the ways people's ambitions both allow them to shape the world - and can trap them.||
Same as the previous civilization of Rush
*Ruah
And the ongoing theme of culture division in the dlc
Which I’ve also not seen talked about much but it’s so interesting
You can see the lands between and the land of shadow both splitting from shared tradition
And dropping and keep different cultural aspects
definitely makes Dominula village make more sense
I do wish ||the takeaway from the community was less "Miquella sought godhood in a stupid way - is he dumb?" and more "Even the best people, with the most noble goals - trying to upturn the cycle of the world - make for terrifying gods"||
Yeah
Well I think people don’t see the overarching theme of abuse of power in From Soft and particularly Miyazaki’s Works
But the denial of ||Kind Divinty/Benevolent Dictator is entirely on brand||
NOOOOOO
NOOOO
tragedy
...
Watch tragic and millions of other Elden Ring videos on Medal, the largest Game Clip Platform.
i'm cracked

noo didn't put my scarab on in time
😔
lol 10/1 flasks to spare
i locked in
Circling around, O, Circling around,
in short visions of Circling around
oh I noticed the other day, watching a zullie video on Ancestor Spirit
it was always a heavily Crucible-coded boss
but in some of its moves?
The Ancestor Spirits have one of the most relaxed and oddly calming fights, but the actual mechanics for it are kind of strange.
Song used: Ancestor Spirit - Elden Ring OST
got that spiral
same on its cut attack
The Ancestor Spirits have one of the most relaxed and oddly calming fights, but the actual mechanics for it are kind of strange.
Song used: Ancestor Spirit - Elden Ring OST
Ooh
both cases ||on a move related to growth and flourishing||
I've been seeing a lot more spirals in base game after the dlc lmao
and I go

am I hallucinating?
Is this intentional?
Is it me, or does Morgott's phase transition summon a crucible current?
Hmm at a glance I think that’s so similar it might be the same particle effect in golden clothes
Elden Stars and the Crucible Armor sets always had the doubled pattern, same with the Sacred Relic sword
but I wonder if this is the non-normalized crucible, if the spiral is a directed one
So idk if that’s significant (since I think Omens are linked to the crucible) or just fromsoft careful reuse
yeah I wouldn't note it if the bosses weren't very Crucible heavy in their lore
even in base game the holy-spiral effect was on Siluria and Ordovis's weaponry
Ok there’s probably something there then
calls it a vortex, even
5+ times is not coincidence I think
its ||her!||
