#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)

other guy I know thinks its a little 'unsubtle' compared to From's storytelling
like Seilia is just full of Nox now
oh, i wouldn't exactly go to fans expecting improved lore
plenty of fanfic is great
but writing's always hard
and i don't expect "good story/fixes to story" and "good gamedev" to overlap super heavily in free fanwork spaces
I think a lot of caimars stuff may be the twinblade guys from Sekiro
ahhh
that'd make some sense
been a hot second since I touched sekiro
gotta dust up
So, amusing discovery
after all this arena play
a lot of bosses seem, well, slow
...also that doesnt mean i cna dodge em eany beter XD
but i did manage to take down ||Messmer, Scadu Tree Avatar & Midra|| tonight all solo, no ashes, no summons
so i'm happy

Antspur Rapier obtained
give them the ol rot
ooh, that looks cool
How does it scale with dex
it's primarily a dex weapon
It’s very funny if you infuse it with poison/bleed/frostbite though
yeah, sadly (though probably for the best) the rot doesn't scale with anything though
I used Bleed Antspur my first time through and it's very functional though
...Jesus Christ I forgot how terrible Gaius is
🙈

thinking of using it with poison blade ash, bleed infusion, and frozen needle
status rainbow
Frozen needle?
Thrusting sword with inherent frost (and a strong attack that shoots a projectile)
Frozen Needle + Antspur is definitely a funny dual-wield
Oh neato
Though you’re stuck with impaling thrust if you want the shot
God, Scholar's Armament is really fucking good
Shame it costs this much FP
...also wish it didn't paint your weapon blue
oohoohoo lightsaber go vvvvvvmmmmmmm
I like the blue weapon for my lightsaber builds 😛
i want the blue!
but my great katana is cold so I can't blue it up
Well, it's not the blue I take issue with
which infusions allow elemental buffs?
It's the fact that it paints the ENTIRE weapon blue rather than just painting the bit you smack things with
Heavy, Keen, Quality
yeah that's admittedly a little silly
did it do that in ds3, i'm not sure
One might even say... freaky
I've only used magic weapon there
makes the list of weapons that make decent-looking lightsabers shorter than it might otherwise be
👅
(Milady is the new best one, I think)
(before it looked best on Cane Sword and basic Twinblade, which unfortunately are not the best options for being good weapons)

Didn't someone do a video cosplaying Count Dooku in the Yoda boss fight
I'm so weak..
Using Milady
OMFG
this is hilarious

Lol yeah that's the one
Bleed em dry
Danny PLEASE
Level your dex at least a BIT
why 😭
Speeds up cast speed
Radagon Icon does a lot fwiw
I think it benefits cast speed up to 40 iirc
Isn't it 70?
Yeah but I keep running out of flasks and the people I summon die real early
I think I just hear 40 tossed around as the break point a lot
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12nJckndN83-OExsx7fXd65xyfL3QNk56z5b1maEc-_o/edit?gid=369453381#gid=369453381 it matters more for some spells than others
Oh thank god you leveled vigor
Which weapon are you using?
😭
I disagree with 0:38
wing stance has a surprisingly big hitbox

Coolest looking katana but it deals such piddly damage
tbf its still a huge leg up from the crystal magic weapon buffs
cool lorewise, kinda goofy
esp the ds1 version
looks like fireworks
eyyyy gj
nice scrble :D
...how the fuck do you get through the artillery mausoleum again
I don't get why they programmed it with this many projectiles ngl
thats the only part in the baes game that have framerate issues
It wouldn't be as bad if the projectiles weren't just
BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM
Y'know?
Like it feels like someone's blasting me with a GAU-8 loaded up with HE rounds
how do you get to the one northeast of the academy?
i tried to jump down from the cliff on the stones but died twice, got salty, and left
You can plink away at the skulls with a bow
It also lies down for about 15 minutes at night
This I did not know
eepy...
I will wait for it to eep then
i thought there was a spiritspring or similar that I was missing
God this is just stupid
i recomend yeah just running as fast as you can at it
...holy shit
I got summoned for Godrick and the other Furled Finger killed him so fucking hard that it took the game a solid few seconds to realize "oh shit wait he's dead"
Oh my god
Fucking melted him with Euporia
Holy shit I need to get my hands on that thing
Yeah, it sounds like the buff did great things for it
Godskins dead
There's a spirit spring you wait for it to get near and use that to land ontop of it
MIYAZAKI!! MY LIFE IS YOURS IF YOU DROP THE SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE OST!
Maliketh scary
It’s on Spotify but only for the five main bosses
That’s not an official pat
*OST
that’s a rip someone made
All of the official OSTs are from the fromsoft sound team
Yeah again I don’t think that one is official
It happened with ac6 and persona reload too where people just post rips of the songs until the official drops
Oh
Yeah I was disappointed at first
Because not all the tracks weee there
But then I remembered
It’s a dlc
Not all the tracks will be there
They haven’t really been in a position to do a dlc ost yet on Spotify but idk why they wouldn’t
Considering that elden ring and AC6 OSTs were extensive
They just didn’t upload stuff before DS3 and Bloodborne is up to Sony
Sorry, DS3 included
i think some of the older stuff comes from cds
That makes sense

Please consider leaving a like and sub if you guys enjoyed this video! I have plenty more Elden Ring contents like this, thank you...
Radagon does not care if you have some kind of projectile weapon
he will swat that shit away and just beat you to death like planned
Radagon is one of the few bosses I have been unable to beat Bow-only
(okay technically I've beaten Radagon, but not with enough resources left over to still beat Elden Beast)
i wonder if it would be an actual idea to use keyboard and mouse to quickly craft more arrows and stuff in that short time window before it gets to you
also that character looks a lot like the look I went with for my death's poker user lol
(yes, I did go speedrun that death rite bird at low level with only two talisman slots)
...And wrongwarp into leyndell for some early fashion and other loot
you can really see the overlap with the Armored Core development here
you can really scuff up the map if you play the game like I do tbh
oh yeah btw, could you guys please spoiler mark DLC boss names and related spoilery stuff if possible, since I've just started working through the DLC for the first time
peeps have been pretty good about it but I just wanted to put it out there c:
👍

"parry this you filthy-"
[ACTUALLY PARRIES IT]
The last larval tear for my final boss save is in that fucking runebear
I’m going back to a dex faith build and trying what I’ve learned from melee
I have no desire to relplay the SOTE stuff on other characters anymore
To put it bluntly
This build fucking sucks
The runebear is taking almost no damage at all
And I’m all out of larval tears
My lvl 210 build just started sote and it means I gotta play it all over again
you used 20 larval tears?
Just to try and gain an edge on ||Radhan|| yes I did
did you get all the ones in the land of shadow?
what build were you trying to do
Bleed arcane
But it’s doing no damage to the runebear whatsoever
And I fucking hate runebears
So I’m gonna go back to my lvl 120 build and grind.. which tires the hell out of me but fuck it
rip
220 is really high for the dlc
Yes. But I’d have to start the dlc all. Over. Again.
That means finding every fragment from scratch
what is your build currently
Current character is my dex faith melee with 50 dex and 40 faith at lvl 120
no the one you used all the tears on
I’ve been killing albinaurics for the past week to get there
Oh
30 dex 40 faith 60 arcane
And I’m not having fun with it anymore
But I used every single tear
use the faith for vow and crab for phase 1 defense then phase 2 use the hardtear physic
morgott's sword is pretty decent you can also change into a spear and shield strat with bloodfien'd fork or messmer solider spear
I see
I’ll try that.. but tbh arc just isn’t as fun as pyromancy
I feel weirdly limited coming back to my old characters because I gotta basically relearn
Or maybe it’s because I’ve been playing nonstop
any tips for fighting the furnace golems?
don't honestly
ive heard pest threads
but it didn't work for me
i don't think people have datamined them yet sadly
Like im having fun replaying with a completely new build style and stuff
The idea of fighting ||Radhan|| over and over again doesn’t fill me with joy
there is also a way to one cycle them by throwing a furance firepot into them right after a ripose
but its tricky and theres not a good farming spot for furnace visages
On my new save I’m at Maliketh
And tbh
I do not feel motivated to fight him
Found this idk the artist
Idk y'all
Do I continue grinding with my new character
If you want to
If it sucks, hit da bricks, you don't owe it to anyone to beat the final boss
i got another boss! ||rellana||
i was honestly getting half decent at deflecting over time
visions of royalguard....
Really?
I’m sure it probably is but idk
what about spirits?
yeah seconding this
wont be satisfying if you're feeling like its forced
Golden vow, flame strength, all my normal ones
i would ignore flame its really short
slap on some crab instead in its place
it stacks with bow
Alright
wait
I’m really debating continuing this or playing the dlc from scratch
for phase 2 you could use holy fort
also remember vow does buff summons too
I tried Thorns as well
what tears are you using
Hmm
That seems too specific
I think for now I’ll do the dlc with my new build
It’ll work with milady since it’s predominantly dex focused
Idk have yall beaten the boss yet
i have not
I have
i gave up the boss just isnt good to me a lot do not like the final boss
used ||Marika's braid + Lords fort + A big hammer|| and a lot of attempts
The base final boss took me dozens of tries
So maybe it’s just a skill issue and I need to get over it
I used the first two well he’s fast though
yeah, I was lucky in that the hammer I used had 80% block, I don't recomend trying to roll every attack
even then I mostly flailed until the fight clicked
Oh
the one good thing ||about phase 2 is he moves similar to phase 1||
so if you practice against that one, you're also practicing against the second
no completely fair
I need to kill the runebear
I'm NG+ the dlc and I am not looking forward to the final boss again
And remake my build to something I’ve tried over and over
wishing you good luck
you might just have to sleep on it, unironically. It can take a bit for the muscle-memory to lock in
||hippo is hard|| 😔
though imo you should do whats confortable, if thats starting over or using a build or w/e
boss is kicking my butt
it was
it embarrassed me so much as the boss I died to more than ||Beast or Rellana||
all my friends beat it like 1 or 2nd try
Personally i won with against the final boss with ||Golden Vow, Lords Divine Fortification, Flame Skewer FKGS, no skill Haligtree Crest Greatshield and Scarlet Aonia. Used Dragoncrest, golden braid, shard of alexander and carian filigreed for talismans and Opaline for physick||
I’ve been trying to killl Malenia for a few days
And.. that’s going poorly too
Maybe I’m just burnt out
She's a real bitch to defeat
I did ||Golden Vow, LDF, Anvil Hammer - Dragoncrest + Turtle + Two-Hander + GB, Opaline hard + stancebreak tears||
so pretty similar
||think I used Crimson Seed+1 while learning the fight though, because I didn't have all my flasks or tears||
Kinda bummed i'm done now that i ||defeated the new hardest boss in the game solo, as well as previously having taken out Malenia solo||
and even with this my first winning attempt I was down to 0 flasks
that phase 2 is brutal
I'm kinda done with ER for a bit
Well ofc you beat the game
I beat the game like 3 days after the DLC released
Finally went back and fought the boss solo now tho
Before i summoned
Maybe I need to get good
Unfortunately since i'm kimda burned out on ER i'm left with playing more Sekiro instead since ER has been my main game for a while now
I started an int/faith full caster playthrough and commited to not switching to int/bonk like I did on another
and that's been hard
I am not kidding when I say the first thing I did after beating ||Promised Consort Radahn|| was ||die to mad pumpkin head like 5-7 times in a row on a fresh character||
why are wizards so frail. and weak.
why can I beat morne + margit + stormveil without dying at level 12 on bonk and struggle against leonine misbegotten as a caster double that level
Lies of P time?
Early game Wizard really benefits from summons (honestly, if you're not doing silly 1-shot tactics, all stages of wizard want summons) and learning how to aggro-juggle.
that sounds like a skill issue, my wizards are swole and huge
just be big
radahn is a fucknormous wizard
follow his glorious lead
rykard is a snake wizard, even
level vig
level str
become the 80 int king
Leonine Misbegotten is an especially odd case. The reasons Wizard builds struggle (ime) are:
- his attacks have a lot of forwards movement tied to them, letting him close the gap you wanna build as a wizard to be able to spell
- he has a number of big sweep moves that will body your summon(s) even if you're holding aggro
- dodge timing is a little fucky for ranged characters in general, imo
Thinking about that “just like you” thing I posted again and
Yeah man Ranni might ACTUALLY have been an inspiration for Miquella growing up
Well
“Growing up”
||Them both using the thousand year voyage term while Ranni is significantly older and has been at this for a long time is potentially telling||
||Is Ranni significantly older?||
She's definitely older, since Malenia and Miquella were born after Radagon left Rennala, but the actual time gap isn't clear. Could be like five years, could be fifty, could be five hundred when we're talking deities
Ive always seen her as the youngest of the Carians
but yeah who knows the relations between the different sibling groups
see I thought it was an empyrean thing, and ||wondered if Marika made a similar speech during the creation of her Great Rune||
I’ve done like 2.75 str runs already its the crab of ER builds to me I’m trying to ignore its siren call
pure str, arcane str, faith str, int str, quality….
A quality Nagakiba with 99 str and 99 dex can get 717 AR two handed
Slap two-hander talisman on that, and get antoerh 15% ontop of that
Now this did take a minium of 179 levels as a wretch so
That's still a lot less than my INT katanas though
wamly what's your build for bloodhound's fang
i tried keen great katana with magic weapon, but it got outperformed by cold
Yeah, but it's all physical damage, that can be further buffed with stuff like BLoodflame or w/e
Nothing hugely fancy. 52 STR, 60 DEX, 75 INT, +10 BHF, +10 Carian Regal Scepter, and Scholar's Armament
The real issue is it's mostly slash damage, which tens to alternate between "Stupidly strong" and "Lol, why are you trying to cut this"
lol yeah
@outer flint this might help
Cold Uchi & Naa are dex with some int (Though Cold Uchi is surpsignly close to being a quality weapon, lol) while Magic is basically pure int
and tbh, if you want a magic katana you should probably be just using the Moonveil, or the new one that's in the dlc
er, Int Katana*

oh ok, you have some dex too
that makes sense
Calculate the best weapons that match your Elden Ring build. Compare weapon AR (attack rating).
This site is very useful for figuring things out
Just remember: having two damage types means you hit two sets of resistances.
This can be anything from Not a big deal, to a huge problem, to actually an advnatage
and gets kinda fucky depending on your stats.
Just a smidge
Yeah
I just wanted to use the Washing Pole
real
Cause I mean, it's a Dark Souls staple
Looks good with my current fit too
I went back and upgraded my washing pole in ds3, I'll give it a try later
long ass sword
hand it over. that thing, your 859460 runes
EG if you go minimum investments for using the Nagakiba, and then 80 int - You have 688 AR on the Uchi, and 673 ar on the Nagaika
But it's 232 Physical (Slash, sometimes pierce), and 455 magic. for the Uchi (and slightly lower for the Nagakiba)
some sephiroth shit lol

Real and true
Gonna have to take em from me
but I already knew that

Comparably, just going straight dex gets you 591 ar/588 - and most of that is physical, with onyl a bit of magic
someday I aspire to be this rune rich 😌
which is very different in how that'll play out
it's a grindset for sure
Go farm the dumbass bird at Moghwyn
i personally farm the albinaurics
I want to play sekiro now 😩 deflecting tear was fun, I'd like to see how the game built around it plays
but it'll come later
🤑
though tbh, if you're in the dlc, just like... fucking murder stuff in the dlc
it vbomits runes at you
Por que no los dos?
i guess i could do both
tbh, if your on pc and consdierng farming runes jsut like.. cheat engine is right there.
do better things with your life
:3
I don't exactly enjoy farming, I like beating stuff up instead! >:3 but I use the gold scarab and sometimes gold feet so I guess it works out about the same

127 frost is very nice
but I wonder if it's worth it, the dlc enemies do have a decent amount of hp
so even with Ranni's moon, the extra magic damage might not be worth it
God I wish I could like the great katana but it has a moveset REALLY similar to the longsword of Monster Hunter, and the only reason I like longsword is its combos
Which the great katana lacks
It just feels so
Stiff
i definitely see where you're coming from
tbh, the stiffness of the weapons in genral is a huge problem for me with the souls series
I'd really like them to take milady as a model moving fowar,d and do more flowing and combo-based moveests
Like fuck, reduce the number of weapon types if it means the ones that survive THE PURGE get deeper movesets
that have more smooth chains between r1/r2s etc
also less movesets that involve foolishly smashing your weapon in the ground.
Thjere's osme stuff that's just really werid choices to me actually, like the jump attack heavies for Bakchand blades is atrocious
Like why are they not being used to land on someone like piericng fangs? Why are you slashing in the air randomly.
(You can actually notice a lot of the movesets are totally disconected upper and lower body - your upper body does one thing, your legs do a notehr, its' very silly)
@atomic plinth Spoil that shit now.
@atomic plinth spoilers
That is huge endgame spoilers.
@dusty kraken Could we get the spoiler in Wamly's post hidden please?
Can't spoiler images for others but I did delete it.
Thank you
thanks
Need to kill the runebear
DANCE THE DANCE OF THE RATS
@vivid spire ||You know there's larval tears all over the dlc, right?||
Only four though
Nooo?
I got them all iirc
there's WAY more than 4.
||Prospect town, scorched ruins, Supressing pillar, Church of the Crusade, Abadoned AIling Village, Rabbath's Rise, Messmer Army encap, and x2 in Rauh Base area||
sorry
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Larval+Tear Full list and dets in here
looks like there's 17 in the base gmae and another 9 in the dlc.
also wrt to Rune Bear: they're weak to sleep, anyhting like Unseathe/impaling thrust etc does a nubmer on them, and bleed/slash damage always fucks them up
I don’t have the funny sleep sword yet
Oh
Eternal sleep just puts them to sleep forever
Normal sleep will still open em up for a crit
Concept: Ranni can change her body type at will. Dollmaxxing
I see!
I think I’ll do dex faith, primarily melee
And level to 200
It's a good build!
That's what my lass is at currently
I have more fun with dex faith
Her stats are offhand.. 60 vit, 30 mind, 25 end, 80 dex, 60 faith
tbh, i could cut faith down to go for 99 dex if i really wanted
but also i like throwing some of the various DLC spells
and having the Spherical Dunk (Name obscured for prupsoes of spoilers) in my backpocket
Highly reocmmend farming the Curseblade's mask if you go dex, as a headpiece that gives you 5 dex is crazy good
even at 80 dex, getting ot 85 is still a nice upgrade in AR (Realstically i'd get more out of the Divine Beast helm, but also, fashion)
and Keen Milady with Electric weapon on it is some mean bullshit - 600ish physical ar and an extra 210 lighting
579/587 ar (1h vs 2h)
and Milady's moveset is so good for Dex/Faith builds
I am level 200
there are so many cool knights and stuff
Good rune spots: RIught outside castle ennis is great.
The messmer soliders drop all kinds of good stuff and are very frutful, plus you can throw down summons
I want to do runs with their armor and weapons
Belrut is very good if you go on a tear, as the Big cleaver horsnet drop al ot of runes, and the little guys drop Silver Horn Tenders
(ugpraded silver fowl feet)
does ||rellana|| (early ish dlc boss) have a summoning pool somewhere
:O
And they drop them at a pretty high rate
oh do both the tenders have greater effects than the feet?
like you can with 7 arcane, equip the silver scard, pop a silver tender, and usually get it back and several others

Yeah, they're 10% more.
ooh
it's not worth farming for the Gold Tenders though as they're still bugged last i checked - item drop buffs do not increase the drop rate of them
which is very silly.
i wanna give messmer chocolate and a kissy
😟
the gold ones don't seem to be craftable either
😔
Neither hte gold nor silver ones are craftable
but they drop at such a good rate (When the item drop works...)

i guess i'll go hunt some penguins sometime if i'm bored
Even without het item drop buff, just running north of scorched ruins to the little crew of inqustiors (Where you pickup the backhand blades)
i got a gold horn every 1-2 runs
1-3* runs is probablym ore accuate
do you know the answer to this btw, i was looking but didn't see one, consensus online seems to be no..
(maybe there's one earlier in the area idk)
I thogut htere was one
oop
I didn't see one near the door anywhere 😔 ah well
I've def been summoned to fight her
She's such a fun fight to do solo though
eps with milady, because you can jump all her shit and stab her good
did you use a sign or the effigy?
I put my sign down
This was a pretty messy fight vs her
You can jump a lot of stuff >.>
I think that case it's les i jumped it and more my hitbox was to the side
i see
||does the hippo do physical then phys+holy in p2?||
I am getting shredded...
boss spoilies ^
He does yeah
||Blackflame worked wonders||
Yknow bte
Btw
Considering Trinas flowers
||How likely is she was the first thing Miquella sacrificed?||
very since she's also his restraint
LARVAL TEAR GOT
I should grab the silver scarab
I wonder why the silver scarab is so far into the game
noooopo
FUUUUUUCK
GOD DAMMIT
I was so close but the flashes gave me a headache
this Chad parried EVERYTHING
I'll never see him again I don't think knowing the summon system
Just came back after a long break... did light greatswords get... better? Am I reading that right? They were already insane.
Oh my fucking god
I died in the first second
):
Today I'll beat him
I won't have any time next week
I must beat him mow
):
Are some of his attacks one hit kills?
Yes if your vitality is low enough
You should be fine then
I keep dying constantly
And my attacks barely seem to scratch with a scaled and fully upgraded milady
Some of his attacks can kill you but they're multiple attacks back to back. Which isn't normally what people mean by one hit kill.
What are you using as its ash?
Wing stance keen scaling
I only know of two one-hit-kills on that boss
This is the closest I got and it's because the dude I played with parried every single attack and stabbed
||the orbital strike, and the Starcaller combo||
My strategy is always to get him off guard and to use frostbite.
I see
that's pretty typical if you have 2 summons, for many bosses
Oh I still haven't beaten him lmfao
I wanna discuss the story in full I can't because the boss isn't dead
Ok after four deaths the fun vanished
Im clearly not ready for the boss even at 178
I should just do a meta cheese build or something
if you just want a guaranteed kill, "fuck my build I just want death", try ||a high guard boost shield (fingerprint or verdigris), heavy armor (bullgoat or solitude or something), and blood/frost antspur rapier. he's weakish to rot still. throw on phys def/holy def talismans. respec into high str n endurance and upgrade things so you can shrug off pretty much everything and he'll die relatively quickly with enough shield rapier pokes||
||i will warn that this boss gives massive and i mean massive health increases with npc/player summons||
||you can try to optimize for like, specific armor to resist slash or holy or whatever but you really don't need to. the important part is a high guard boost and preferably 100% phys block shield, with decent holy resist, and the ability to shield poke for bleed procs||
||golden vow or ironjar or something for def buffs if you're still struggling||
||100k hp at two summons doulbing his hp||
all NPC or pc summons are +60% each
It's been weeks and people are already done with the dlc
spirits ashes don't give the boss any hp bonus
so yeah large hp pool bosses will benefit a little more practically speaking tbh
yeah that's fair
||this boss in particular has decent combo strings let alone the bullshit that is the second phase rave||
||fuck the second phase rave all my homies hate blonde twinks with light magic||
Idk I just
I feel like if I don't beat him now
I'll stop playing
And if I come back
I'll be so rustu
there is no shame in changing your build to beat specific bosses tbf
I went back to something I thought would work
50 dex is good right
It's 50 dex 60 faith
what arey ou using the fiath for?
Incantations
Remembering when I died to Malenia 200+ times, and this dude is supposed to be even harder.
I took a break right before the perfume exploit was nerfed
Now my only chance lies with a dex antspur build
||do you have the str or endurance to spare for a high guard boost greatshield?||
No
||at lvl 178 you have like 160 points tho so im assuming that's 50 vigor 50 dex 60 faith?||
damn
Yes
try a med shield even maybe. the shield poke animation is a little faster for building shit like bleed/rot
like it's faster attacks than just r1 for the stamina costs iirc
imo likely
||Sacrificing doubts seems like something you'd want to do early - and if Trina disagreed with Miquella about seeking the gate, he'd want to divest her early||
||We enter at the gravesite planes, but its possible Miquella came ashore||
yeah ikr
very strange
Yeah I ended up picking away at him with the sword spear
From behind the fingerprint
is this your equpiment setup for the dlc one
would def change out the fire talisman for a holy one
thats lightning i think
also you should be able to get the upgraded holy amulet
Yeah this is my dlc character
there is ||an upgraded holy prot talisman + an upgraded stamina regen talisman in DLC, if you would like to track them down||
||turtle is in the bottom of the river iirc in a cave and the upgraded holy is a braid, and it's in shaman village (near the gaius entrance, behind a secret passage)||
scrble, if you want, i have a final boss bleed antspur shield build on a mule character i just tested - but i'm not sure how aggressively this will get downscaled when it's at lvl 287 to your 178. lmk if you want to give coop a shot?
(the answer is obviously very aggressively scaled, but i don't need hp, i'm more concerned about max stamina being downgraded? i don't remember if ER does that - i know older games don't but i think it migth)
I’m on Xbox
ah, rip
yeah deathknight is cool but sadly if i recall very weak to holy
honestly if you just want that mf dead you might be best off farming 20 golden fowl foots off the birds at impassable greatbridge + that pond in altus (for materials), getting sacred relic sword, and brain-off farming albinaurics until you can overlevel the shit out of him or something
throw on a youtube video essay about why dlc final boss is horrible game design n zone out for 4 hours straight
in this case, i think scrble is out of larval tears
so i mostly meant getting the levels to greatshield cheese
yeah lol which is an insane statement to me but i respect it
do fowl feet/tenders' effects wear off when resting at a bonfire?
no

i'm pretty sure the best farm is still mohgwyn palace approach, sacred relic sword the albinaurics
does the buff timer (also all buff timers in general) wear down while resting?
yes, but it's quick enough to rest + stand back up
DLC has some really high rune drops but i dont think it beats the <20 second loop you can get while keeping your golden foot active in moghwyn palac e
the bird isn't even worth it because its only like 3 albinaurics worth for +5 seconds lining up a shot
All 20 base game yeah
Not dlc though
oh yeah it does add a couple
also if you're trying to hardcore farm, fill up your group pswds with random popular ones
not just throw rando mstuff
like vaati's, the fextra one, the reddit one, etc. just google a list
like why 60 faith what incatantions specifcily do you need 60 for
you get a mini rune boost when anybody in a group kills a shardbearer or becomes elden lord
the ones i remember off the top of my head are SEEKERS (vaati), FEXTRA (fextra), straydmn for r/eldenring and btf for r/beyondthefog (the co-op subreddit for ppl to request help, mostly exists because its really hard to get co-op for certain bosses in older games)
oh it just means elden lord
o
the msg just doesnt say "has become elden lord" it just says "has become a Lord"
i think in-game characters use both interchangeably as well
I finally got through the weird eye catacombs
Got the long haft ace
Through lore deductions I humbly state
The Death Knight set is closest to a fia simp set
“Armor of the PERSONAL BODYGUARDS of Godwyn and his surrogate corpse”
I’m onto something
yeah i'll guard his body 😏 ---- Fia
Death polycule
50% more!
dlc adds 9
but you can only find them at night
so you'll prob only run into a couple
These gauntlets look decent enough, or should I swap to something else?
I like it
wtf what
"Larval Tears in the Realm of Shadow can be found in the middle of a ring of glowing gravestones that glow blue. These locations and the Larval Tears within only appear during nighttime." what
thats wild
yeeeep
I think it's mentioned somewhere in the game, but I'm not sure where
Is there any point in light rolling over medium rolling?
more roll distance
slightly better frames, more roll distance
this can be huge whether you're trying to space attacks or rolling through them (when rolling through, your hitboxes move further over a given length of time so you're that much more likely to clear the hurtbox before losing i-frames)
it doesn't technically improve your frames, the animation is the same length with the same i-frames
note that the roll distance is a sidegrade - it's not really better or worse, since it's really annoying when dodging certain attacks if you're used to medium
doesn't it come out faster?
don't think so
huh
that said I'm a lightroll addict
i meant like framedata in general when i said better but maybe im just running on weirdly debunked info
midrolling feels awkward to me now
Right
wait it doesnt have better frame data?????
what is the point of lightroll
distance lets u space things really good if you know how to use it, i guess. i know it makes waterfowl really easy (for me at least)
but idk i keep rolling into things like an idiot even after a full playthrough w it
it would be really cool if light roll was a bloodborne style dash
now that's only remembered by the bones of the dead 😔
the distance still matters imo
there's a reason I keep bow-only to lightroll
again, even without technically having a frame data advantage, the increased distance over the same number of frames lets your hitbox get through things you can't midroll through, or at least with easier timing
||...you can stagger Putrescent Knight out of his phase 2 attack???||
Like how a greater horizontal speed on your jump will let you cross bigger gaps even if it's not technically a higher jump
a lot of moves can be staggered but have outrageous requirements
yeah it was a super small patch w some minor bug fixes only
would balance changes be bad news?
no I love things getting nerfed and other things buffed
😇
But bug fixes are never bad
For me lightrolling in bossfights feels better because like.. unless my armor is wild, or the boss is tiny
the 'sit around 51 poise' thing rarely brings up
I could be 5% less dead in three hits or I can dodge far enough to not get nuked by some sort of ____flame explosion
I pretty much only midroll
gunflame...
I've only ever seriously midrolled, I've light rolled for some overworld exploration for funsies
maybe I'll try light roll on some bosses
I like having armor
I would probably heavy roll if it weren't so bad tbh
Pretty universally my playstyle in games tends to be "I'm not good enough to avoid getting hit so I'm gonna try and make getting hit be as little of a problem as possible
...and then I main Switch Axe in MonHun
There's too much nice fashion in the lower weight tiers but getting light roll is such a pain
Kind of weird but understandable that like
the stat that helps you get there is also the one that'll let you wear enormous armor
Idk, make dex give you an easier threshhold for light %, not more carry weight just don't need to be soooo underweight
do you have some suggestions?
oh uhm, well it really depends on the vibe you're goin' for with your character it's primarily aesthetics at that kinda weight
Crimson/Navy hoods are solid all-rounders that look nice and give a freebie stat, plus their capes have like three different positions depending on whatcha wear
yess I love those hoods
I used the crimson one for most of my playthrough, then switched to the navy one when I respecced to int
This is why we take Windy Cracked Tear
i'm in nearly super heavy armor (Full radahns except for the head), and i'm still zooping wooping around the place
ooh true!
here's archer lady's pre-dlc fashion
(Crimson Hood, Traveler's Manchettes, Rotten Gravekeeper Cloak (Altered), Nox Greaves. Plus the Black Bow.)
I added an alternative look in the DLC, and here's them side by side lol
Gravekeeper Cloak actually comes in both red and beige!
Yeah this is actually part of the strat with bow-only
I do allow myself spirit ashes but only if they're archers, and adding Woe helps a lot with keeping heat off of them
I am significantly better at dodging than most summons and spirit ashes are

it was a particularly key element to bow-only Malenia because it's how I kept her from eating Ogha for free heals lol
Ogha, you're a chump man 😦
Actualyl he's really good until the boss can get past his posture brekaing or out aggress him, then he eats shit
Y'all know any gloves/pants that go well with the Fingerprint chest armor?
I’ve found Ogha to be a pretty damn solid summon tbh
You’re right that he’ll have a bad time in a heartbeat if a boss starts focusing him though
He’s damn solid if you can hold aggro and unlike Latenna he can actually hold his own somewhat in melee
I don’t think I could have managed Those United in Common Cause bow-only without him
It's hard to match because it's sort of.. bluer than other armors, but if you're going for the sort of roughshod look that it goes with the mix'n match evens out, but also.. Eccentric's Manchettes (gloves) kinda neat for asymmetry, the more burnt side has the bandages n such
Scaled Greaves sort of fit but they're offcolor..
A lot of the Knight legs are like 10x shinier so it's awkward >:|a
Mausoleum Soldier legs might work
I've been really liking Divine Bird Ornis
Has the horned warriro curved sword moveset, plus he likes to fly off and rain feathery doom on people
Something that I haven't checked but might work is Blue Silver Mail pieces - they tend to run into a similar problem of not matching with things due to being off-color with most of the game's metal
I've heard good things about ornis but haven't checked that one out
Divine Birds are so un-scary compared to Horned Warriors or Divine Beast Warriors ingame that I just kind of assumed he'd be a pushover lol
if you get the hang of parrying, Horned Warriors become pushovers osmehwat
They telegraph pretty well and then you can punk em
20 points of AR in exchange for frost buildup is a good trade, right?
I mean, I killed a bunch of them bow-only, they're not 2hard5me or anything
they're just vastly more dangerous in my experience than divine bird warriors, which look like they'd be in the same weight class
They work pretty decently, yeah
Debating if I wanna make my dual wielded greatswords Cold or Magic, cause magic has a solid 20 points AR up on Cold but Cold would grant each sword 127 frost buildup
Cold is very frequently better than magic for infusions
||Ornis|| feels like summoning your own Boss Enemy it's great
20 AR isn't nothing but if you're hitting enough to proc cold, yeah it's probably better
Aye, aye
And it's a difference between 813 per greatsword and 833
Which is not particularly huge tbh
oh yeah lol who cares when AR's that high
20 really is nothing at that level
if you were still lowish level and we were talking 180 vs 200 or something that's at least worthy of note
like, 20 AR on a bow matters because you really need every ounce you can get 😛
got a huge slab of a ultra greatsword 😌
yeah at that point you'll notice a once-per-fight cold proc more than 20 AR
127 each
Identical stats for each sword, the other just has Carian Sovreignity
i mean the frost proc makes up for itself w the 20% extra damage lol
||Wish that Putrescence Knight coop summons got teleported right into the arena||
The Alliance of Night and Flame began with Rauh and the Smithing culture, who evolved into the Astrologers and Fire Giants. Rauh originated the idea of the “wisdom beyond stone”, the technology underlying the golems. The Astrologer’s conceptualization of the primeval current originated with Rauh. Their culture was responsible not only for contro...
Some REALLY interesting timeline stuff here that also reminds me of the ruins that are all over the fucking place that are probably Ruah
Oh?
like snow valley and seaside
theres implications through there that ruah: made the golems, and were the oldest empire in the setting
so old weve lost much knowledge about them
Oh that is juicy
I've been thinking about the Astrologers and da Fingees recently
also they might have been allies of the fire giants
||given the Manus Cathedral(s) + star interest, with Metyr as the first star to hit the Lands Between||
esp with ||fingercreepers|| being really common in the mountaintops
I like that the (death)bird golems solidify the usual golems as being built to evoke the giants
Dunno, the little lore snippet read more as them just being kinda ambivalent about each other
Like "Oh, yeah, I guess y'all live nearby. Cool."
so the empire timeline seems like
Fire Giants, Ruah, Dragons
Ruah falls for reasons we dont understand, dragons become rulers of lands between and a ton of architecture is created by them like the divine towers which have the exact same architecture as farum azula
Marika rises, Farum Azula splits off probably because of civil war. Golden order does its shit
current state of the world
oh no
why would that be what i wanted discord
theres a period where the Ice Dragons are pushed out by the Fire Giants
in the mountaintops
and those dragons were drakes, given Borealis
probab.y part of the civil war causing the dragon empire to fall
so ||Bayle must've already been around? before Fire Giants in the North?||
so...
I think Ruah -> Dragons -> Fire Giants?
with Astrologers and Hornsent contemporary?
A smaller imitation of the furnace golem's visage. Material used for crafting items. Exceedingly rare to find. A stone mask surrounded by curled horns, depicting the fell god of fire that haunts the sagas of the hornsent.
or maybe Fire Giants slightly before Hornsent, but still around until Marika gets Funky™️
no ruah and the fire giants are at least partially contemporary
the forge of ruin is in ruah style
so maybe were contemporary before they drove out the dragons
I've been thinking of the Fire Giants as a split from the Ruah culture
after it fell
thats also possible
like how Caria descends from the Astrologers and the Nox, but is its own thing
this video also suggests carian astrologers, the ones on the mountain, are also ruah
i woulld watch the video, its crazy
i love it
I love mostly that like
we dont know a bunch of shit
this was all before the elden ring
so who knows what it was about
Don’t some of the item descriptions talk about an ancient smithing cult? It could be the forges are an early iteration of that
that seems likely
i love that the land of shadow LITERALLY fills in the missing pieces of history
and also paints marika as a brutal historical revisionist!
hmm
the Lands of Shadow seem to bridge the Carian - Mountaintop divide
so I guess that explains how the astrologers and giants were once neighbours
mhmhmh
also
sidenote
i think it's possible that farum azula once rested inside of teh big dragon mountain from the dlc
considering the way that the dragon mountain is shaped with the indentations and stuff
yeah
the really interesting thing about the smithing cult imo
There’s also the astrologers ruins on the mountaintops
is that its said to "imbue weapons with souls", and you can see runes written along the talisman really prominently
And our jellyfish summons meets with her sister there to see the stars
I'm curious why the Crucible's touch was so strong in the Lands of Shadow
The world existed without the elden ring before
And functioned fine
It will do so again
it cant just be that Marika sealed it away with the unwanted essence, cause Ruah and the Hornsent show its influence is old
The Ruined Forge civilization might have been the ancestors of the misbegotten
Since Misbegotten are found around two of them
burns away stuff like the crucible
so in a land without that light
it never lost that link
seems very likely
Hewg might actually have worked at those smithscript forges
Marika as well given her use of a hammer and anvil
tbf its hard to place in the timeline when it first appeared
if the smithing cult was using Runes, does that imply Elden influence?
thats fair!
Do runes predate the Elden Ring, or postdate it?
and even this first part is still speculation
The Ring might be omnipresent, just the Great Runes that comprise it are currently in the Lands Between
its also possible that the elden ring itself is not actually the greater wills real gift? like it might just be a part of the world
marika revising history to make her religion the one that gave the world the laws of physicws makes sense
and the longer we look at it, the less sense it makes that the greater will was always in control
Its also debatable if Marika is really blessed by the Greater Will
I'd think the opposite, given ||Ymir echoing Hyetta's words about the GW creating life itself||, and ||How early Metyr is in the timeline||
According to the admittedly untrustworthy Count Ymir, the Greater Will peaced out long before the Shattering
||she had to arrive before any Meteoric builds, including the divine towers golden ore, or the Meteoric Greatsword of the 'old gods'||
If its even truly self aware to begin with
||but why would the greater will even need agents like metyr, why would metyr make as warlock or a vassal out of marika, if it was always the true creator of all||
it just doesnt make sense to me
||Imo, she was seeking Empyreans (or the Fingers were) for the same reason many other characters latch onto symbols - as a surrogate.||
||The GW needing agents... idk. Need might not be the word, but it might just... create life by nature, or choice. You can pretty much replace all mentions of the Greater Will with "The Cosmos" and the meaning is the exact same.||
regardless my point was more that the world will survive the age of stars
this much is clear
it has survived upheavels before
theres quite a bit of evidence to suggest ||Darkness and Stars are the nature of the GW, too||
someone on one of the reddits noted something about the translations
||In that all the space ones use the same phrasing, and that phrasing is directly connected to the Greater Will in a few places.||
idk implications of this
I've been thinkin' about it since the dlc dropped
lmao true
and she seems to think the greater will is something that CAN be warded off
well she doesn't like the fingers - but she never mentions the GW
oh fair enough i guess
I do think its kind of darkly ironic that she slays a finger
and it looks like the Carians used to have a pretty prominent Finger Cult
Age of Stars might still be against whatever the GW wanted, if it did truly send the Elden Beast to the Lands
||but I think its been gone or uncaring for a long, long time||
i always saw the ages of stars as the erasing of god influence
