#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)
1 messages · Page 57 of 1
it's neither faith nor intelligence, it just is
i mean no their stuff scales with int
ahh
was more coming from the lens of requirements
scaling is so opaque in this game, especially with skills
drives me nuts that ice spear scales primarily with dex
they definitely have a reverance for those natural cycles
I wouldn't call them faith-less
isnt there that axe
In the ancestral spirit-worshipping faith, these are considered envoys' wings, made to reap the lives of beings which experience no sprouting.
also very crucible-coded
one of the few enemies that drop budding horns
ngl
though I didn't call the exact ||Jar Rituals / Divine Gate|| its pretty much exactly what I was expecting, given the ancestor followers
'Life sprouts from death, as it does from birth' + 'Thus does new life grow from death,
and from death, one obtains power.' + reaping those without buds
110% sacrifice was gonna be involved
So
||Hornsent’s invasion at the end of his quest is totally suicide by tarnished right?||
Just
Thinking about him
And I can’t think of another explanation
||He’s very wordy and passionate when he fights people he actually wants revenge against is part of why I’m not sure of that||
SWORDSPEAR GOT
That’s probably the intent but is much less compelling to me
So I think I’m gonna take my interpretation :3
that or, like
It's also possible ||he figured out on his own that you're one of the frontrunners for Marika's new consort||
he's just broadened his list of targets
||Which he states explicitly as his motivation if he joins Leda to attack you in the last act||
Yeah I suppose that’s fair
I just wish he had like
Dialogue
For that invasion
it does seem like he should say something, yeah. It's a bit random.
It’s so weird that it’s one of the few times in the dlc someone attacks you completely wordlessly
If Miquella's redemption soothes the ache...that throbs within, demanding blessed vengeance... Then I wish not to be by him redeemed.
Btw one of the hardest lines in the dlc imo
“Fuck you miquella, you can’t fix shit”
comes across like Hornsent is just completely over the cliff with rage and bloodlust
For me I read it more as like
A combination of that yes but also like….. he sees it as an injustice to just let his rage and heartache be smothered artificially
like to be clear I think that when you reach the point of going "fuck yeah, the bloodlust of revenge and rage that stems from loss is actually better than healing" you've lost it
that's no longer a sane outlook, you've completely given up on trying to get better or fix your problems
Yeah probably
He’s choosing to continue the cycle of violence
I will admit I’m mostly wanting to give Hornsent a charitable read because I love him
Hornsent is channeling the classic blood feud in the celtic and germanic cultures that ER borrows heavily from
He attacks you entirely because he believes he’s obligated and can get away with it
His line in messmer’s fight genuinely rivals igon for me
Totally different energies but both channeling pure hate
He 100% believes that you being connected to Marika is a killing offense, and that since he managed to kill Messmer then he has a shot at you too
Drawing a blank on classic blood feud / revenge stories but yeah
Hornsent is 300% the tortured revenge hero and following Messmer's death he's hit the archetypical point-of-no-return where the protagonist can either come to their senses or double down and demand more blood
I’d say he wouldn’t call himself tortured or deluded
he wouldn't!
He’s just in a different genre than you
Its in the phrase blood feud
Someone does a crime to you or your family and you take it out on their blood
If he ever did manage to kill you i wouldn’t be surprised if he started gunning for Miquella too once the charm broke
I mean he's pretty explicit about exactly who he's intending to kill next and it's Marika
Because one thing about Hornsent is that he’s also kind of a coward
Like if he were a true blood debt revenger then he’d have taken a swing at Messmer whether or not he had a shot
I don't think he ever implies he wouldn't
When you help him out he goes 'this is my fight'
Because the salic law he’s channeling obligates him to seek vengeance regardless of the risk to himself
obliges
I mean if he really really wanted to above all other things then he’d have marched right up to Shadow Keep after his family died and taken his swing
And the Hornsent Genocide happened a long, long time ago
I can’t really blame him for falling into hate considering that Marika turned his homeland into a living hell, and murdered his family/tortured them forever
Yeah its an understandable reaction
Miquella charmed Hornsent into working with the rest of the group, I think it's safe to say that until Hornsent was put into a position where fulfilling the blood debt was viable he wasn't strictly looking to act on it
Honestly it’s probably that he tried to kill Miquella
And that’s how he got charmed
But like if he was strictly following the blood feud obligation he’d have tried to murder your ass the moment Miquella’s charm broke
Is he saw another fucking demigod
And tried to murder them
And got a kissy instead
I think its reasonable
after the ||charm breaks, he sounds unsure if this is actually what he wants to do||
||so I think its as much "I dont have a purpose anymore, might as well try and kill you"||
Yeah i think killing Messmer essentially gives him a confidence boost
I dunno
I don't really buy that there's any implication that he's secretly scared of fighting messmer
He probably has not done it yet so he can be
yknow
A side quest character
True but “NPC found dead/ dying of critical wounds near a boss door” is another fromsoft staple
Dating back to Ostrava of Boletaria
its still ongoing tbf, I dont think theres much that implies he was alive during the initial war
Its actually hard to tell how active the crusade is
he gave me the vibe of a generation that grew up post-invasion
Scadu Altus is pretty heavily patrolled but outside of it Messmer’s forces largely keep to Castle Ensis
the furnace golems remain, at least
Yeah like they went through the entire region and judged it “cleared out”
Then retreated back to base
Leaving the golems behind as a skeleton crew
And the golems aren’t even really good at mopping up survivors because there’s a whole bunch of living inquisitor hags prowling near the one on the Spiritgrave Plain
That said, they probably retreated back to their castles because they pretty much eradicated the hornsent civilian population
The only survivors are diehard religious and military personnel
Like there’s very little to genocide anymore
Unless you count the man flies and bloodfiends
Red wolf pisses me off
Melee with the swordspear feels so slow
Idk my melee damage feels so lackluster
are you one handing ot twohanding
Two
it is kinda slowish im honestly not a big fan of its moveset
its not bad im just not a fan
i really dislike how short-ranged it is
that well
dex leans int, while str leans faith
the closest thign i would say for dex faith
is lightning
there are a bunch of dex/fth weapons
just most of them are later
golden order greatsword, sacred relic sword, treespear, the two holy scythes
Black knife, inseparable greatsword, technically godslayer’s and vyke’s but those are more pure dex, winged scythe, treespear
magma candlestick
Flamberge, everyone's friend
I don’t wanna do like
Pure dex
I’m liking melee so far
But a lot of the weapons are too slow or catch on walls
And I struggle with timing blows
I’ve just been upgrading the basic longsword so far it’s at +4
dex is pretty fun
i didn't use it this game
but the knight's greatsword moveset is great
One of the most elegant greatswords in the game. It's a shame it doesn't have a thrust R2 with a pointed tip like that. In fact, far too few greatswords have it :/
This weapon has an identical moveset to the Banished Knight's Greatsword, but is more dexterity leaning in scaling.
its just the ds2 greatsword moveset which is amazing
favourite non-somber sword, until Milady
I want milady
Idk
Maybe I’ll go get black knife again
As it stands my damage is poor but I’m only lvl 40
Black Knife is good to have even just as a lil' sidearm
I’m also in caelid rn
candle stick and blacknight and holy scythe is the onlydex/faith weapons i feel is worth using before the dlc
I thought the Winged Scythe was real
imo both of the holy scythes are fucking cracked
i don't like the other one mainly due to its weapon art
Also; what in the hell is that scythe referencing anyhow
every deathbird has not been a white winged maiden
also both of the greatswords
i generally dislike artlocked weapons that arent really much better then a genric one with the art just placed on it
the golden order and sacred relic swords are both really good for dex/fth
Hmmm
i really think that all artlocked weapons that have a generic art need a buff
Maybe I could go fth/str but like
like reduced cost
I wanna be a dexterous sillyboy
foucs on melee but have some faith for buffs
Alrighty
So mostly dex and less faith
Is messmers spear a dex weapon
dex 35 fth 18 str 14
Ooh
I gotta get to the dlc fast
Also I had a stupid idea for a mod
Rennala clasps your hand when you respec like Melina when you level up
Maybe I’ll do an infantryman build?
A few buffs
Should I raise my str a bit?
what weapon types are you intrestined in/have tried
i would sya for str just min for stats to use weapo
some noteworthy spears ar epartisan for its slash heavy, cross naginate for its moveset, clayman for being good with magic inufsions, cleanrot is a good quailty faith weapon
im not a fan of longswords cause i fele they are a bit too basic
messmer soldier spear is also a great one
i know your tried the scimitar but did you try the falchion
uses a diffrent moveset
im trying to suggest stuff before the dlc
and stuff they can get pretty much now
a rapier like estoc also isnt a bad choice
has a slashing heavy
falchion isnt slow
Is the warpick good or do I need to just level it up
its basicly a mace that does pierce damage
i like to test new weapons i in the ruins where you usally meet melina
that or the castle near margit
find something your comfortable with first
i guess you can also get the bell bearing pretty decently early
the first one
||helping him beat messmer otherwise he shows up in the leda fight to kill you||
But I did done do that and that didn't happen
||he invades you at the top of the stairs near the centipide boss but you need to go ot the bottom of the stairs||
Yall
What’s a good infantry cosplay to date Ranni in
Now technically it’s personality
But I have fashion sense
I’d say high page
But the lack of poise
Any ideas
I guess I’ll do low poise but it’ll be hell in the dlc
poise is really goofy
if your not 51 or higher it doesnt matter
cause theres almost nothing that does under 50 poise damage
Oh, then no
I just did the boss and never saw him again
High page farming..
hm, I thought that you needed to talk to him (or at least leda?) back at the leda point
I’m doing it for Ranni
so if she's still there do that
I mean I beat the game already
and am in NG+
I just got his perfect ending I guess
Oh for fucks same
Red wolf why are you like this
Ok I like the naginata a lot more
Much faster
naginata is good
I’ll do mostly dex and min strength for now
Faith can wait until I get enough levels
Basically the Irl build lmao
I can’t find any smithing stone s
Oh my god
I don’t wanna go back to limgrave to grind
I’m there
The wizards keep shredding me
My weapons aren’t upgraded because I’ve barely found any stones
Went through a few caves
yeah this (for some reason) means he wont invade
your gonna want stuf to help your defense
like the magical resist spell
that helps a lot
also its not summoning him afaik that causes it
i also recomend a blunt weapon for mines
Aye, or at least two-handing something
PATCHES DROPS A +7 SPEAR
that’s good
also is the correct thing to do not killing him
Because he betrays you later iirc
And I mean
Wait what
It's Patches
Wait WHAT
Did you kill him
Yeah
Presumably
Rip
What armor is it again?
Bullgoat
patches also does upgrade his shop over time
Ah, right
Oh I feel stupid as hell
Bullgoat's only good for specific ultratank builds so don't feel too bad
Its the only armor with 100 poise
It's also ugly as sin
(Outside the DLC)
I just really don’t like patches he always pissed me off kinda
patches is very strange
also if ur low on stones go get the bell bearings maybe
But yeah, don't sweat killing him
lip smack shame
if ur in caria you can go to the crystal tunnel and get infinite smithing stone 1s to play aroudn with what weapons you like
That’s what I always do
I’m used to grabbing blackflame incantations and making most of early game pretty easy
God bless blackflame
Oh fuck the goddam wizards
Crystal cave is a firing line
I was killed by the fucking CRYSTALIANS?!
god melee kinda fucking sucks ngl
I’m level 40 with 35 dexterity
nawh the Rotten Crystalian Trio is just a real bastard of a fight
No no
what are you using against them
+7 spear
35 dex is honestly kinda high
I scrounged around limgrave for like
for 40
It’s the sorrseal
Idk I best godrick like normal
i don't recomend using that
But I feel like I’m playing wrong
The melee just.. doesn’t do the same damage as Blackflame
Things feel so much harder
Is it normal to have so few stones at the start?
yes
ok that does make much more sense
what is your strat when you do fight
defnesively as well
are you using any buffs?
they have like infinite resistence against anything sharp thats why the summon is even good against malenia
35% reisst to non blunt
Also wait +7 what kind of spear
i think the 15 percent extra taken damage is a bit rough early on
patches spear
that is very low for level 40 ain't it
i might be remembering wrong i guess
but Caelid is a big "??????" in terms of balance and stones to be found
do rya's quest
so you can buy shrimp
shrimp is 15% physicla resist for 60 seconds for 600 souls each
also one of the few pleasant things left in the Lands Between
It is?
yeah theres lots of non blackflame equalizers, spirits, bleed frost overleveling, various tears
I'm likely wrong, but it goes up to 25 so 8 feels.. uncertain
I wouldn’t know my oldest character is up to NG3
It's what Rogier gives ya
marika's tits you must be ungry
Once I get golden vow it’ll be better
But.. crystallians
Damn that’s so embarrassing
No not the rotten ones!
at that dex, id reccomend picking up the flail from outside stormgate? and bashing them into dust
The basic academy crystal cave ones
Don’t flails kinda suck
They're FINE
( they're not great )
but literally anything works
and it's Dex Based Strike Damage
they are not that great but spinning weapon is funny and also its an easy get for dex based blunt its serviceable
so it'll stagger 'em
my character has eaten nothing but crab for months
I have the nafknata
also has bleed
But I need stones
once i got to a comfortable level i blew all my runes on 600 crab
Honestly I’m so fucking amazed people beat the game with melee
Because poking and blocking is just
Hellish
I'm more amazed people can resist trying all these stupid spells out
It's like being in a toy factory and going EH, NOT FER ME
i don't know where big got these industrial level shipments of crab from and i don't want to, just keep supplyin' the goods mate
my first run of the game was a powerstance katana build
I’ve played too many spellblades
i cann't block
(And I’m gonna do a spellblade here)
I haven't blocked since DS1 I've forgotten
if you want to get better at melee you gotta do more melee
block poking is a little boring yeah, im a two hander at heart
yeah not blocking in ds1 is just suffering
wait are you trying to block twohanded with the spear scrible?
or with a shield
Shield
ok
which shield
Bronze
I honestly think weapon blocking and shields in general needs buffs just to make things a bit more intresting
brass? thats probably the best in the game honestly but i think blocking against bosses isnt really the best strat ( even though it puts the final boss in a hole)
instead of there being only a few correct choices
I’m gonna get blackflame blade and stuff as soon as possible
lovingly caressing the deflecting hardtear
im not a fan of lackflame blade
I’m in Raya Lucaria
because it only lasts 7 seconds
Yeah
wish it could be a talisman or something, forgoing the guard counter bonus
use the incationion for magic resist
It’s been so long since I last did a basic build
bloodflame plus spinning weapon flail is funny
the resistance spells are absolute goddamn gamechangers
hell, even a base game mechanic
I need to get good lmao
I don't know why people ignore 'em so often
freezing weapon etc, id branch out but yeah theres tons of stuff to stack and use to get an advantage
'i'll just not take 60% of this damage for a minute' ok
crab is 20% resist for 60 seconds for no cost
Flame Protect Me is so cheap
playing the game once with int and a second with faith, i get it
Yeah, early game the way to do melee is "get your mins for a weapon, then stack vigor and a chunk of end"
can't live without golden vow anymore
the only reason you shouldnt use crab is if your using one of the barriers, flame give me str, or you have enough buffs you need to manage like golden vow and something else
Physical Damage +20% (15% in PvP).
Fire Damage +20% (15% in PvP).
Stamina Recovery Speed +5/s (11.1%)
FGMS my beloved
vow+crab is admittedly free and solves a lot of problems
rallying cry
Weapon damage comes mostly from upgrades early
I refuse Golden Vow on a moral standpoint I can't align myself with the Order v-v
double so starting with opaline hardtear
and rallying cry is easy to ge to on the standard just take a field trip with the boss out to yellowstone
If you know what you're doing you can have a +7/8 weapon before godrick easy.
I still remember finding my first Stone 8 after being teleported outta Limgrave
And a +12 weapon fairly early in liurnia
but even godrick gets whooped by plus 0 bloodhounds fang
just 'WHAT DO YOU MEAN +24'
If you're using a somber weapon you can get +6 very early
Which is like a +15 weapon roughly
Magic isn’t inherently fully tied to a deity anyone can cast if they learn
Fuck
You want the mine visible on the map
On the north east shores of the lake
The tunnel you were in does have a good point though
I’m so disappointed with myself lmao
What are you running?
I mean milady is right there! (I'm the DLC)
I think you mentioned cross nagatina?
Which is a very good option
I did a new game
I think I’ll do dex faith I know it sucks weapon wise
But as long as I just get a dex weapon
It doesn't
I’ll be ok
nobles slender sword and estoc is so elegant 😌
I'm playing Dex/Faith right now
winged scythe is pretty elegant you could go get it its a great dex fth
It's only limited if you're looking for unique weapons
And it's still got bangers like the Godslayer Greatsword, Zweihander etc
blade of calling is aight but it is cool
Just the fact you can keen infuse stuff then buff it makes dex/faith very good
I need to level vigor and dex and then faith
You need to level vigor
are you still using the soreseal, i feel your current vigor might serve you better if not
Dex won't do anything until your weapon is in the high teens
sorry if i sound like a backseater btw
Soreseal works until you have about 37 vigor, I personally hold that it's worthwhile till around level 80
I am not
Which is when you should be able to hit 40 vigor, 25 end, whatever stat mins your weapon of choice needs
Yeah that's your problem
I really should have planned this better ngl
Have you killed greyroll yet?
theres two talismans i can think of that would be pretty good to get right now
turtle is good
as it the shield talisman
If you have a weapon with bleed on it you can just stab greyroll to death
Pop a Golden fowl before she dies and that's 100k runes
Then go make the Bloodhound step night cav commit suicide, that's another 50k
Yes
you can also make her kid jump off the bridge near the beast sanctum
I feel like something’s off ngl
I normally know exactly what to grab for my caster builds
I’m kinda floundering for this
That is by far the biggest part
weapons you need to find something comfortable
I like the black knife.. and the nox sword..
Also get a good Shield
do you want a list of some great dex faith items and locations?
Vykes spear is fun
Yes please
black knife is aces
i carry one even though i'm Str/Fai because ripping 10% of a boss's health off instantly is just, like, that good
dex crystal tear -Can be found at the top of a small island at Liurnia of the Lakes. Southwest of Boilprawn Shack.
faith crystal tear- North of the Demi-Human Forest Ruins.
winged scythe, after fighting some pages on the weeping penninsula in the tombsward ruins
golden vow- useful spell off of a knight on a cliff near godricks castle above the deathstouched catacombs (
flame grant me strength - behind fort gael in caelid between two chariots ( i think it stacks with vow)
treespear- in a carriage guarded by a troll on a collapsed bridge from the liurnia highway site of grace ( it is a great spear but it its got crazy dexfth scaling)
heres some early-ish good stuff that would help a dexfth run or for those two buffs, pretty much any melee based run
also the jumping attack claw talisman from stormveil is a favorite of mine
there is the smaller erdtree guardian one but it would take some farming
spiked cracked tear if you like charged attacks - near the minor erdtree in mistwood
i think the stormhill knight drops the ash of war version of golden vow
the spell version is from uh
yah you can put the ash of war golden vow on a dagger in your back pocket, use it and put it away and keep the buff instead of going for the one in gelmir
i kinda recomend shrimp over the ash of war in some ways
mainly due to the duration
with both of those tears on during a fight you have like +10 in both stats, so you can not worry as much about leveling those stats right now and go vigor, then pick up the slack later
theres also a page spirit ash in liurnia if you want to fight with one as an ally, maybe take some pressure off while you get more comfy with mostly melee fighting
most of these are just good for any melee build
lighting, flame art infusions on any weapon that doesnt have faith scaling
inquistors girandole? is dex faith as well godskin peeler
I'm the same with the Mohg and Morgott shackles tbh I get it
anyways hope any of this helps
It does thank you
armor does matter for defense
that might be your poise and not your stats
bullgoat talisman is also good, can get you above 51 with still lightroll
you should get to 12 faith at minum
and go get the defensive buff spells from corybn
the magic one helps in raya a lot
Is nice but idk I don’t think it’s 100% necessary
Your stats are alright but you might want to slow down on vigor and focus on stamina
My damage just
Dex builds attack a lot, I imagine you run out of stam a lot
Idk I can’t figure out why I’m dying to basic bosses
i would say in elden ring, messing up is whatever since overleveling is part of a soft sliding difficulty, but yeah run around pick up some stuff to help
what is your equipment besides your weapon?
Spear, using the iron set, finger seal and bronze shield
talismans?
Turtle and two fingers
What are you using the seal for
(16 with the talisman)
What boss were you fighting by the way
you are prbally not used to melee combat
OH
the dying to basic bosses might just be an acclimation to melee fighting thing
thats why its important o find a comfortable weapon vs a strong weapo
A melee dodge build will die the first time they fight a boss almost guaranteed as well, is something to keep in mind,
doesnt matter if its the strongest weapon in the game if it feels like your fighting the weapo ntoo
Because you have to learn the bosses timing
Dying is normal
Every boss has unique timings
Keep fighting until you win basically, adjust setup as necessary
the spear you're using , is it infused
id keen infuse it for scaling, since your faith isnt that high yet and then you can use greases, but yeah run around gather some stuff,, buff yourself up a bunch before a fight, and if theres still some trouble, it might just be a time thing
yeah that and so many things resist holy
I GOT KILLED BY AN ERDTREE AVATAR
oh my good
This is so fucking embarrassing
200 hours
they are pretty hard honestly
their laser cannons
not easy to dodge
and they do hit hard
An invader appeared
My damage sucks..
Oh my god what happened to me
I was doing really good last month
your rsuty and you don't play melee much thats pretty much it
heres a good tool to see like, what weapon set ups with what stats would yield what damage
so like for instance, sacred spear plus 7 at your stats is 266, , but like for instance, with dex knot and faith knot and the treespear +7 the damage would be 361, and with golden vow and flame grant me strength it would be like +35 percent to 487, and then jumping attack with claw talisman boosts that by another 15 percent, this is how melee stuff and buff stacking can get crazy ( my math might be off i digress)
anyways good luck im yappiing
Oh my hod
The caria manor hands butchered me
I’m so tired of this now
I need to get to the mohg farm
do you have pyromancies for the hands it just trivializes them
You can use pretty much any fire magic for the hands yeah
you can stop drop and roll stunlock them
flaming strike is really good against them
I have fireball
I’m gonna take a break I’ve been playing for six hours
come back with fresh eyes hopefully
I’m used to like
The light greatsword weapon class received a much needed buff to its poise damage. Now it is definitely one of my favorite weapon classes

Speed running to grab shit
LGS poise damage buffs apparently pretty substantial
And immediately going to mohgwyn
To farm
And dumping points into faith and seeing results
Like if I do it right I can get to level 60 within a few hours
Hey wait it’s a metaphor for my own physical prowess in real life
I’m not used to this at all
So I need to practice (and get a weapon I like)
i think the single best thing to do is find a weapon you like yeah
I'm a greatsword enjoyer so melee is something i have decent practice with
I'm used to slow attacks though
you can give the best black smith in the world the best wrench in the world but they still can't do much with it
I want reach and speed
they need a hammer not a wrench
But yeah finding a comfy weapon is preem
Spears can be nice
I mostly truck with Greatswords and colossal swords though
For my next Playthrough i'm actually using a hammer, fists, spear and shield
im gonna do magic in my next run
but i did sorta plan out some challange runs
one is probally gonna be dual strightswords
the other im not sure
I played Int Fai in my first run and Fai Str for my dlc run
i realized just now i never got phantom slash so i went and got it and the noble next to the nights cav droped their estoc!
My Int Fai char who can cast almost any magic in the game
And my Fai Str pyromancer from the DLC (spoilered for DLC armor and weapon)
had to revert to the oldest trick in the book: Spam my AoW
Cause Bernie does not have enough poise for my bs
In heaven and earth, i alone am the Lions Claw'd one
giant hunt giant hunt giant hunt giant hunt
This build has a spear and a seal equipped as well btw
I can do Sword and seal for the pyro combo, or do Spear and Shield for the poke strat
How the fuck did someone get a message up there
do spear + sword
visions of message...
Hmm
I'm gonna start over
Do confessor for better stats
Then immediately nab black flame and cross naginata
Goal: Black Knife
Yet another pyromancer build? Yes.
that seems extreme at your level
I think starting class matters for like, PVP players or anyone trying to achieve a desired build very quickly
but after a while into a run, the work you're gonna have to do again makes it not worth it to me
Black knife is goated
Maybe I can do this once I get rennala
do some respeccing
or maybe I just need to grind?
depends how many levels are wasted for your build
I think things will get better with some time and effort to get used to melee again
Lmao the funniest shit just happened
Got summoned to help with Godskin Apostle, guessing the host just wanted someone to hold aggro while they pelted him with spells
And the other guy I was summoned with puts the boss to sleep
Host charges up a Comet Azur
AND HE'S LIKE A PIXEL OUT OF RANGE OF THE BOSS
HE FUCKING MISSED A COMPLETELY STATIONARY TARGET LMFAO
I've done the run to black knife where I fight the assassin holding it at like level 30 from killing Greyoll and nothing else
it's a goof
How
honestly not that hard once you understand the Black Knife moveset - there's a very consistent punish window on their big jumping ground-stab attack
you can even backstab critical them
jane did a bow only run you kinda have to be really good at learning timing
that's my actual advice for Black Knives - keep your distance and focus on dodging until they do their big jump attack, then roll behind and go for a backstab.
This works on every black knife except Alecto
(it's still possible on Alecto, but her destined death sphere hitbox on the ground-stab makes going for a backstab way more dangerous and way less free than it normally is)
for a slightly less patient strategy, try grabbing the icerind hatchet on your way there and spamming hoarfrost stomp at her. They're vulnerable to frost
Oh ok!
Y'all know any weapons that'd look good with this fit?
I mostly need to fix my build
Besides banished knight sword/halberd, those are obvious
Noble sword
Damn you managed to farm the altered banished knight chestpiece
How’d you get that
Castle Sol
The spectral guy by the elevator?
Also the Fire Monk Mace or Curved Sword would probably work well with that fit
Maybe Great Epee or Godskin Stitcher
man banished knight chest is the only thing i think bloodhound helm looks good with its a shame i love hounskulls but its got like,, gamer neck
so one of my challnge runs im planning that ive done in the other games is a merchant only run and a loot only run
the bloodhound set is one of the better ones i can get fashion wise in the loot only run
dragonscale blade?
i still am not sure what i want to do gearwise for either run
only buying from merchants?
im pretty open to ideas for stuff i can only buy and stuff i can only loot form enemies
yeah
the exceptions are key items and crafting and npc gifts
oooo
ive always wanted to do a randomizer where you have to use what you pick up it sounds so silly fun, and forces me to use stuff ive might never.

If you enjoyed th...
noah caldwell SotE video
yeah thats kinda why i like these runs
except i still get to chose
i did these runs in ds1 and ds2
I shall respect his wishes and allow the boss to solo him
i think its more intresting to give you a vague but broad restriction
i didn't do the merchant only rule in ds1
i should give it a try sometime though
elden ring does have arule against boss loot
just because it would trivalize it
just go get blaidd to smash down bloodhound for the sword and your golden
i will also make an exception for the noskill ash of war
God I wish covenants were a thing in this game
Hello yes it's me
Eeey Scrble!
Like, less lethal ones
It.. it's fine?
roundtable hold (Gideon is my wife)
Rapiers really shine if you lean into the counter damage
I struggle to parry
if your weapon does Piercing damage, if you hit someone during their animation/recovery
you do More Dasmage.
Ohh ok
More correctly, if the attack does pierce damage
So it incentives hitting a lot
and Rapiers are all pierce damage attacks
so you slap on a good shield, grab the spear talisman (Which makes counter attacks hit even harder)
and shiv people in the guts when they try and hit you
(Rapiers can attack while blocking)
I never actually recommended antspur for the final boss in my guide, lol
Not sure where you got that bit from
I'm actually thinking i might start up a fresh run soon and do a str character, same "Streamed guide to getting rolling" etc
Most of the other guides I saw recommended antspur for the rot buildup
Oh, my soloution to rot was way simpler
HEfty Rot Pot.
1 hefty rot pot rots him in phase 1.
2 hefty rot pots rot him in phase 2.
ALso it's the super-rot that does 29% max hp
unlike the antspur version which is much weaker
Scarlet Rot on weapons and the Rot Pot inflict (0.18% Max HP) + 15 per second for 90 seconds, for a total of 16.2% Max HP + 1350 damage over its full duration.
Scarlet Rot on Hefty Rot Pot, Rotten Breath, Ekzykes's Decay, Rotten Butterflies and Scarlet Aeonia inflict (0.33% Max HP) + 13 per second for 90 seconds, for a total of 29.7% Max HP + 1170 damage over its full duration.
Yes, i rember
You also changed your avatar here, which is the really rude thing
HOW DARE
I'm teasing 🙂
I'm a very visual person so i tend to rember people through a ocmbo of avatar AND name
Oh
And your avatar has changed color schemes entirely etc so it's like "Wait, is this the same person!?". My autistic brain XD
This is kinda funny ngl
I tried like
A cosplay build
But I quickly found that warpick sucks
I've settled for spear
Wartpick is also a pierce damage weapon
It just feels too short
Yeah, reach is a real thing
And it's reahc is pretty bad iirc
If by warpick you mean the Pickaxe, it's the 4th shortest Greathammer.
Meanwhile, good ol Large Club is the 3rd longest.
and you can g et it immediately
Ah, Large Club. Our gudiing THUMP THUMP SMASH BANG
...a chair?
Oh, wait, Warpick is an entirely idfferent thing , and it's a middle of the road on reach hamer.
But yeah, it's reach is also pretty tiny
Club and STone club do a lot better again because well
better reach
warpick does unlike the other 2 i think get counter counter damage
Yeah, but Reach makes getting counter dmage easier, and if you're using a hammer, i'd rather just well
I mean you expect her to stand all night
Use the club/stone club and break someone's kneecaps
if I had a whole castle I'd spare a chair ngl
the lucerene is a kinda wierd weapon
I mean fair
It feels like an odd detail to add, though I think they did something similar with adding more trees to faron keep in ds3?
i figured she had a thing for him, not explicit but heavily alluded to but the swords description says that the paired blades are the only place that moon and fire were ever together? so he either rejected her and gave the sword back when she joined his army to chase him, or it was unrequited unspoken pining
Yuri
The chair is a reference to The castle in Leyendell
With all the chairs in a round
However instead of all the nobles having chairs it's just her
By herself to stare at he moon
I think its more the moongazing pond with Loretta
helps you tell shes a Carian
I've seen some people miss it lol
That's what I meant
I feel like het is one of the few things that is not, too, yuri
Dinky?
A man and a woman can be lesbians
best Yuri in the dlc is Scadutree and Erdtree
This too, is not yuri
||False, the best Yuri is Count Ymir's son||
counterpoint: jesse and james from pokemon
Jesse and James transcend mortal concepts such as yuri
Perhaps all things are yuri
They are the primordial concept of Queer
fair
heresy is not native to this world, all things can be Yuri
The moon sure is bright tonight
But who is she shining for
Obvious answer: the earth and moon are yuri
team rocket is the kind of partnership all the world can aspire to
Lannessax and Vyke are actually not yuri
But a secret third thing
Dragons are weird
Is that final fantasy
drakengard
draken
drakengard 1-3 has you ride dragons
they're sentient
also that trilogy is fucked up
Oh god
I got summoned to help a very low level player with that one black knife in Limgrave
The poor thing didn't stand a chance
Curbstomped that poor woman into nothing
Me and the other endgame player that got summoned just mulched her
Drakengard 1 explicitly has the main protag get into a romantic relationship with a dragon
No its Drakengard
yoko taro video game universe
Yes it is that one prequel game to the FFXIV raid
lmaao
Seeing the typing momentarily stop filled me with power
funny to imagine that the existential horrors that haunt the nier universe just get trounced when facing the warrior of light
WoL doesn't even know what the fuck is going on
nier automata ffxiv crossover
Yeah the raid series for Shadowbringers is the Canon end to the Nier games
And Drakengard
but psyche it was actually a nier crossover too
well
Thus isn't a joke
Its obviously complicated but my summation isn't wrong
ye
the equivalent of running over a slasher movie villain while backing up and out of a desolate Denny's driveway
nier automata is the result of a what-if bad ending from nier, which is itself the result of a shitpost bad ending from drakengard...2?
or was it 3?
but neither of those cement their result as the sole canon ending to their respective game
More akin to like if Jason Vorhees was canonically killed in a cameo appearance in John Wick 2
iirc the "get killed by jets" ending of 1 leads to nier
corpse of the grotesque queen leads to the disease that afflicts humanity in nier
got my esoteric yoko taro lore wrong
you love to see it
Based ngl
J-jets?!
Drakengard 1 is a medieval fantasy game that's ending takes place in Tokyo
jet planes
I see
Oh hey you can see the Chapel of Anticipation from the First Step, that's cool
Oh my fucking god 😭
I got summoned to help with the Blackgaol Knight
We were all spellcasters
There was so much magic spam holy shit
We bullied the SHIT out of that poor dude, oh god
There were so many projectiles getting thrown around
Lmao
Oh god, I was with a host and we got invaded by a vigor checker
The host unfortunately did not pass
...or, well, he did pass
Passed away
We ended up throwing fireballs and rocks and shit at another invader when we had a vantage point, was fun
hmm
75% incantation scaling
Means that probably, utilizing +damage type incantations are better than just setting affinity.
In exchange, I have to re-up them every 90 secs
So 1-2 times during a standard boss fight
It also doesn't scale the ash of war, I think?
Not sure on that one
||Got summoned for the Leda fight||
Shit was FUN
10/10
And I got a cool 30k for my trouble
Fuckin dumbass lmfaoooooooo
Uhhh...No. >.>
At 80 faith with Erd tree seal you get like... 250ish damage out of electric blade
Oh? Did I miss a step on calculating?
but it doesnt really compare to flame art
Like it does pull ahead if it's High base physical AND stacking a high incant buff ontop of that
but that stresses your build immensly
For example, right now:
80 dex/80 faith keen milady = 579 AR two handed, before buff
80 dex/80 faith Flame Art Milady = 696 AR two handed, 405 of which is fire (which most things in the game are weak too to boo
Right now in practical terms, my build can use Electric Blade to get an extra 210 lighting AR damage - but that's a 70 dex, 60 faith build, with my head slot and a talisman s lot dedicted to boosting my dex. and i;m usually stacking Old Lord's talisman ontop of that to get the duration increase (Which is a big deal)
Compare to just going like... 80 faith, 17 dex Milady with Flame Art, you have 635 AR, and saved yourself 70 levels to put like... anywhere else. Endurance, FP etc.
What's your current Incant Scaling from your favored seal?
Wait, that doesn't help, ignore me
It only makes sense for me to be using electric blade because i'm a full on spellblade build and casting is a compliment to my primary stratergy whcih is "I stab you in the face"
@left willow It's still worth mentioning. Currently, it's 291 using Godslayer Seal, which is the highest incant scaling i can get at 60 faith
At 80 faith, Erdtree seal takefs over and gives you 353 incant scaling
which is 264 lighting damage on your weapon, or holy if you meet the requiermetns for Sacred Blade (WHY DOES IT NEED 13 INT YOU JERKS)
Odd, that should be +210 AR, unless something something is weird?
Right now in practical terms, my build can use Electric Blade to get an extra 210 lighting AR damage - but that's a 70 dex, 60 faith build, with my head slot and a talisman s lot dedicted to boosting my dex. and i;m usually stacking Old Lord's talisman ontop of that to get the duration increase (Which is a big deal)
Yes
Then why's that odd? It matches exactly
Versus how much of just switching to Holy/Lightning/Fire?
80 faith gives you 460 somethign fire damage as a Flame Art milady
you'll get even better results with stuff like a Fire Knight's Greatsword
460 isn't the question, it's the gains
The otehr thing that mmakes this complicated is how fast is your weapon?
Weapon buffs are exptneitallly better on fast weapons that multihit
Ah
Twinblades are the shining example
DLAs
Man, i dont even know iwth DLA
I havent played with that weapon enough
it's not what i'd call fast?
and can it even be buffed?
I dont thin ktehy can be be buffed
Yep, Cannot be buffed
Stick poison on them, add in The Poisoin Flower Blooms twice and rider kick people out of existance
thats' my advice <.<
the light attacks are crazy, imo
I think a little slower than twinblades, but faster than any other weapon I've used
jesus. five minute fight with the ||first furnace golem|| in dlc, lol. dealing ~200 damage per hit on the legs, had to deal 2 ripostes. i think i used raptor of the mists upwards of 40 times in that fight judging by my fp consumed
but hey got his drop so i can go back to playing the game
honestly, raptor of the mists is a SUPER consistent (but rather slow) way to juke his attacks. way easier than trying to perfectly time rolls or something
once you know the timing it jukes both one foot stomp and two foot jump, and is quick enough to easily juke the 3 stomp in a row combo. i just rolled away from the few hand sweeps but you dont get those when at his feet
yeah, that sounds about right
||according to google, the only thing that affects stance break is DAMAGE done, NOT poise dealt. so if you can nova him, he'll die quick||
That... doesn't sound right?
||supposedly shard spiral is also insane for sorceries, or pest threads for incants. because both will consistently multi-hit pretty nasty style on the legs||
yeah, it's weird. but apparently true
raptor is super useful in the dlc
i roughly counted it myself and the damage numbers seemed to line up with what people were saying, and taking a LONG ass break didnt reset poise
